What a thrilling start to what is sure to be a spine chilling series!! I wasn't sure what to expect when I initially started reading this one but I was very quickly sucked in to the story and could hardly wait to find out what was going to happen next. And that ending left me on the edge of my seat and eagerly wanting more. Eager for the next one.

This book came highly recommended and after reading I can see why. I still can’t believe it’s a debut novel, it was exceptionally good.

The story sucked me in from the very start, and held me captivated till the very last page. Can’t wait to read more of this thrilling series.

Excellent debut

After reading another review I'm totally baffled with their comments. I have read the unedited version of this book and I must say the published version exceeds it!

The characters are better fleshed out, the development with Melissa and David is excellent and the expansion on Bane is welcomed and suggests future twists lay ahead.

Overall, heart in my mouth when reading parts, so intense! Read it in two days, and cannot wait for the next book.

What an amazing debut!!
I'm so glad I took some time out to finally read this and take my time enjoying every moment.
The plot and characters are right up my alley, I find the subject matter fascinating. Be warned, this is not a romance, and for that I loved it even more.
Honestly I think this author is one to watch, definitely going places with a well thought out and researched debut like that.
Can't wait for the next book especially after that ending.

Dale-Creek Hill is a facility for the unsound and criminally famous where young seventeen-year-old Ashley is granted a work experience slot, which is perfect for her seeing as she is intending to study psychology at university. I’m not sure if I just retold the basics for future readers or for me? This story totally scrambled my mind from start to finish with everything that happened, but don’t think that’s not a good thing—because it is great!

Ashley is a lot more mature than I first realised, yes, her age does prevent her from seeing some things clearly but I admired her temerity and persistence. All of the character’s profiles are gradually built up and the more you get to know them the more you either like them or they creep you out. To be fair there is an element of excitement as well as mystery with the criminally insane characters. Michael Wilton and Sam Hanz, dubbed The Casanovas by the media, are the lead ones and holy moly are they intensely intriguing. I will definitely be ready to read the next book to learn about their backgrounds and what happens going forward as well.

This whole story has plenty of drama with lots of action thrown in to keep you on the edge of your seat. Even though the content is full of serious issues there is still a touch of humour, which helps to balance things. This is a psychological thriller so don’t expect a swooning romance but you can expect excitement, anticipation of what’s to come in every chapter, intensity and unpredictable twists.

I would never have guessed this was a debut book unless I had been informed before reading it, I can only imagine how far this author could go with such terrific writing. Bring on book two, ‘The Casanovas’, especially after than awesome ending.

Well this was one helluva book! I didn’t really know what to expect going in, other than it was a genre I don’t read often, but the blurb was intriguing. Also I wouldn’t have thought debut novel if the author wouldn’t have mentioned it. It felt like a seasoned author! I loved every part of this book.

This book seriously grabbed me and held on. The suspense from the beginning to end was palpable and dare I say a few parts had me uncomfortable reading in the middle of the night alone! I love when a book can feel so real it leaks into reality and makes me nervous. That cliffhanger….so well done! I really can’t wait until book two. I really need to learn more about these Casanova’s!

Quite the dynamics between Ashley, Michael and Sam. I kind of think there’s more to to them than what is said. I wanted so bad to hate them but in the same instant I wanted to like them. Also quite the work group and than there’s David. You wonder what’s behind him. I’m looking forward to the next book to see what happens next.

This book is absolutely amazing. If you like psychological thrillers with a twist you will love this. This honestly is my favorite book, the writing is phenomenal and the attention to detail is so interesting. The way the author writes is very different and the emotion she never fails to capture is felt every chapter. Every chapter left me ready for more. Cannot say enough good words about this book. If you are looking for a new great book to read, look no further, you found it!

Murderers were not mysterious; they were complex and strategic; they didn’t look like predators.

They were predators.

For her debut book, Bea captures you with this new chilling read and aims to keep reading long into the night. From the mystery of what really lies behind the doors of Dale-Creek Hill, to the compelling characters that leave you wanting to discover more and a dramatic storyline that twists in a way you never saw coming.

Looking into those dark, pitiless eyes, Ashley knew they would be with her till the end of her days.

I have to start with how much I enjoyed this read!!! This new to me author has done a stand up job and I need the next instalment like, yesterday.

When Ashley is given a chance to work in the one and only Dale-Creek Hill, finding out what’s truely inside only entices her to see her work experience through.

It was well thought out with plots you won’t see coming. The roles of every character were on point—I definitely have my favourites. It had me on the edge of my seat and was highly addictive which I love.
If your looking for your next thriller, I personally recommend this.

been with this author for a while and love her work in two minds

not sure quite how to explain but to me it feels as though the first draft showed us a first person perspective and i experienced it with Ashley as she went through each moment wheres this has shifted feels/reads more like a third person perspective? so your a little further removed.

The first draft her tunnel vision and detailed descriptions allowed you to slow down in the psychological horror and also reflected her unsettling fixation the oppresive notion of the three of them alone in the dark or her always watching or thinking about them watching her which i agree has been dialled back or muted as others have stated. We also saw a little more of Sam and Michaels dynamic with each other which is missing.

I did really like reading more of the interaction between the inmates and seeing the general workings of the asylum .Both Melissa and David develped as characters/in there scenes and have been fleshed out David leading more obviously to his turn with more time spent on his and her dynamic.

Personally not a fan of the new midnight at the asylum scene which was originally much more of a slow build with two intense moments of horror which lead on to the next scenes lingering as something for her to obsess about and linking together in the timeline connecting events.

At this and a few other high tension moments some of the other voices felt like a unnessary distraction like a reminder or recap by the author about each characters core ie this ones a nurse this one does non pg things with bodies .

i suppose read both it's a interesting debut from different standpoint

I have read this book at least 10-20 times on Wattpad. It’s that good! Dale-Creek Hill is my all time favorite book series. If I don’t know what to read next this is my go-to book to re-read until I find another. The characters and their backgrounds are put together so nicely that they could be real. This isn’t one of those books that drags on for the first ten chapters. The story sucks you in after just the first chapter and it keeps you right at the edge of your seat the entire time. I couldn’t put it down the first time I read it (or the second, or third). If you’re into suspense/thriller or just serial killer or asylum themed books then this is definitely a book for you. Full disclosure: I have not read the new version yet, but I am sure it will be just as amazing (if not more) than the original!

Updated Review (Dec. 31, 2021):
I just got finished reading this book for the 19th time! It was the 4th time since it was published (so the new version). I originally read the version on Wattpad and it immediately became my favorite book! There are quite a few differences that you’ll probably pick up on if you’ve read the original; they’re not confusing differences and they actually help make the story make more sense. I 100% recommend reading this book, you won’t regret it! This is one of those books that stick with you forever.

This book is a bit different than I normally read but when I read the teaser something made me want to read the whole book and I am so glad I did! This book kept me hooked and
Wanting more! What is the connection with Ashley and these crazy, murdering rapists? I have a feeling we will get more answers with book 2!

This was a complete change from my normal.

While I love suspense—which was definitely a huge part of this book—I found that it was a little slow in parts.

The relationship between the the intake group was interesting, I found I immediately disliked some of the characters - while others I was immediately drawn to.

I am intrigued by Michael and Sam, for sure. I want to understand their connection, as well as their interest in Ashley. Their IQs are obviously off the charts to manage the blindside that they did.

There were many different pieces to the puzzle, so many times it ALMOST was perfect but it just missed the mark for me.

I am interested in reading the next book, only because I NEED ANSWERS!

3.5 STARS.

Impressive debut!

There are areas where the author glossed over a few things that I would have loved to see develop but is in no way pivotal to the story, and I feel this story would've worked so much better in first person narration.
With that being said, I throughly enjoyed Dale-Creek Hill.
I loved the suspense, but it did fall a little flat at times, but the flow of the story made up for it.
Overall, I was entertained ad captivated, and will definitely read B. Infamous again, gladly.

I first read this book when the author uploaded it to Wattpad and I fell in love (is love the right word for such twisted characters?) with Sam and Michael. They are written so well and complement each other in such a way that they became my all time favourite fictional duo. Ashley… a stark contrast to the pair but still a character that has a hidden darkness to her and an equally powerful impact on the story. Can’t wait for the next two books!

This book had my rapt attention long after it was over. Having read this on Wattpad before it was officially published I have been desperately waiting for the rest of the trilogy. I read just about any book that was Wattpad first but I make to buy a physical copy if I had read it on Wattpad. As much as I want to reread this book and get lost inside the asylum again I am refraining until the rest of the trilogy is published. Infamous can take all my money for all I care.

Interesting

This is a very interesting book from a debut author. I was kept interested from beginning to end. There were times where I felt the story was a little muddy, especially at the beginning but the story definitely kept me guessing. My patience was awarded towards the end. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next!
