I loved this new Port Danby mystery, and I know you will love it too! This is an exciting week for Lola and Ryder as they will be getting ready for their wedding. Lacey, as Lola's maid of honor has been through all the insecurities and problems to get to this point.
With the parents of Lola, Ryder and Lacey due in town, things are getting physically and emotionally tense! Lola still is looking for a band with 3 or 4 days until the wedding and Lacey is in the thick of it. Lacey is worried about her boyfriend Detective Briggs, because he isn't himself, and she doesn't know why.
Lola and Lacey go to check out a band and Lola thinks they will do fine. That is until they go the next evening to pay the band and a murder has occurred! Now they are back to square one with the band, and Lacey goes into detective mode.
One thing is for sure; everyone in the wedding and in the family visitors are worried and as for Ryder and Lola, Lacey and James they are feeling all the emotional angst caused by this wedding with murder attached to it.
This book gets a 5 star rating and I can't wait for the next one! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading all of the books in this series!

Lacy had her hands full with crazy, bridezilla Lola commandeering all Lacy's time. This was a fun read and satisfactory mystery. I can't wait for the next one. And I love how it ends.
I love this series. But Lola could seriously drive you insane. There are a lot of ups and downs with the wedding and of course a murder to solve. I can't wait for the next book.
“Thistles and the Unthinkable” finds us on the verge of the wedding of Lola and Ryder. Let’s face it, Lola is high strung at the best of times so image the emotional roller coaster she is putting everyone on as her nuptials are quickly approaching.
Unfortunately, it’s a week before the wedding and Lola has neglected to secure a band for the special occasion. She ropes Briggs, Ryder, and Lacey into hearing a band but when they threaten to play All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie Lola has a fit. Add, she puts Briggs on the spot about any future wedding plans with Lacey and suddenly there is tension between the two.
Since everyone is pretty busy Lacey is the only one semi available to help Lola look for another band. They find one and just when Lola is about to book them she and Lacey find the lead singer dead with a knife wound. Besides all of her other duties, Lacey takes it personally to look into the investigation especially since Briggs has handed over to job to someone they are thinking of hiring to help him.
All of the craziness going on with the wedding, in-laws and parents flying in, a murder and more importantly trouble in paradise for Briggs and Lacey. My, my, my what an interesting time in Port Danby. Without revealing anything critical, I will say that the ending will leave you happy so don’t sit in the fence, get to reading!
Not going to lie, given Lola's normal dramatic personality, it's really not a surprise that she's a borderline Bridezilla (not quite at Bridezilla levels, but definitely letting the wedding stress push her close to the edge). Lacey, as her BFF, takes on the brunt of smoothing out Lola's manic behavior. Which doesn't do her any favors when it comes to spending time with Briggs.
A little case of murder derails Lola's wedding band plans (which doesn't help with her state of mind) and Lacey jumps in to help solve the mystery. Given that she and Briggs have hit a rough patch (not really, but kind of) and with the whole wedding thing she's dealing with, I think Lacey used the murder as a distraction from all the things going on around her.
Anywho. A dead body (which Lacey conveniently is the one to find), a handful of clues, a whole lot of wedding shenanigans, and trying to carve out some time to spend with her honey make for one busy florist. Lacey does her thing, though, and everything works out in the end.
I really enjoy the characters. And Lola, gearing up for her wedding, is outrageously funny. Poor Pinkerton almost loses control, especially since there is another murder to solve. And James is not in charge of the case, so she doesn't have an inside. Plus things are strained between her and James, and she doesn't know what's going on in his head. But the wedding finally happens, and Ryder and Lola marry. And the reader learns what's up with James. Another wonderful Port Danby story.
I always look forward to and greatly enjoy London Lovett's Books but especially Port Danby, and Firefly Junction. It was fun watching Lacey help Ryder and Lola with their special day and all that it entails. All the while we dealing with a murder and a. Beau. Very good read. You will enjoy it.
This was an amazing new installment of the Port Danby series. There was an emotional Rollercoaster in this one. But I especially loved the romance depicted this time in the book. Murder was not the highlight as much as the story of the characters this time. But perfect nonetheless
I have spent so many wonderful days this summer on the deck reading this delightful series and the great characters. It will be hard to wait until November for the next one

Guessing about the ending didn't dampen the excitement!! As always, London Lovett has delivered the best! I had already printed the marble cake recipe. Now, to try it;-) Waiting for #17. Sounds greedy, but can't get enough.
Another fast paced Port Danby story. I guessed right about James’ plan, But I wish it would have ended differently. Oh well, another book, another time perhaps. Lacey needs to slow down and enjoy life. No need to be so busy all the time.
This was a laugh out loud book. Besides the mystery of the dead band member, Lola is in rare form with her upcoming wedding. Tension is high between Lacey and James. Each book in the series gets better.
This book is mostly about Lola and Ryder's wedding. Lola is almost a Bridezilla some of her meltdowns were expected for quirkly Lola and some just made me laugh. There seems to be some trouble in paradise for Lacey and Briggs. Loved it!!!!!!
Well that was a role coaster and I wasn't sure how I was feeling about it but the ending was fab! I'm glad the wedding is done but excited about the future. I didn't find this book to be as involved with the murder but it was still fab.
Great instalment to this series. The murder was hard to figure out. Ryder and Lola’s week leading up to their wedding seemed very realistic, chaotic. The ending was beautiful.
Back in Port Danby for the wedding of the year between Lola and Ryder, but when the music group Lola has booked for the reception is a member short, because he's been murdered, Lola loses the plot. Can Lacey bring her back from the brink, and will it affect her relationship with James?
I really enjoy reading this series and am looking forward to the next book being released.
Normally love this series, but got so turned off by Lola in this book. Too much of a self-centered narcissist even if it was her wedding. Hopefully she will settle down a bit of that is the end of this series for me.
