Drop G. S. Dunn After recovering Earth from decades of neglect, humanity aims at reaching out into the galaxy to make new friends. Advanced nanotechnology is put to work in one of their greatest feats to date - the Drop base. Built into a crater on the dark side of the moon, this portal will be humanity's key to reaching for other stars. In an unknown disturbance during a Drop test, nano-technicians Phil and Darek find themselves 'dropped' into an adventure only their dreams could equal. A colorful escapade of "high"-ence fiction unfolds on a world far off, but not so different from our own. The crew discovers that there is more than one way for intelligent life to take root, while facing the challenge of making their way back home. Perspectives from a new world enlighten.
As someone who typically bypasses the sci-fi section and moves straight to other fictions, I must admit I was lured into this surprise by the cover.
Taking place in space and dealing with something called “nanotechnology” (which the author breaks down for all us laymen out there), Phil, Darek, and a few others encounter a huge malfunction that sends them through the drop zone and into an adventure on another planet. There they meet some interesting inhabitants, magical plant life, and further obstacles that keep you wondering if they’re going to make it back or if it’s all just one big “trip”.
Easy and fun to follow, and I really enjoyed the vivid description of this alternative world. The vibe is set so enjoy the high.
Drop is an interesting futuristic space odyssey for stoners. It is akin to a Bill & Ted or Wayne's World type storyline except with more engineering and aliens. The author creates a unique world with different species and a trippy ending (pun intended).
Impressed with the Author's storytelling abilities especially as a first-time author. A few things that were a bit silly especially in the beginning but overall a solid read for casual fiction readers.
