He and his family move to the small townof Maywood and Russ ends up going out for football without really trying hard. After his father is hurt and the small town people help them out, Russ decides to really play seriously.

I thought it was a good book, the message in the book was very good. Even if you have a bad experience in something, don't give up on it keep going. I think this book did a great job of showing that to young readers. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I loved football stories when I was a kid and this was a pretty good one, although I didn't care much for the main character most of the way through.
