I won. I, Loki, stole the magical ring right out from under Odin’s and Thor’s noses. Right before a little minx stole it from me.

I outsmarted them all. I tricked my brother and father, and even my water-dragon son, sending them on a ridiculous chase while I slipped out the back door. I nearly got caught––twice––but in the end, I possessed the prize––the magical Andvaranaut, a god’s ring that allows me to hide out on Earth as long as I wish.

Then she came along.

That little human thief took it right off me, in broad daylight, in the bustling markets of Nepal, without me feeling an Asgardian thing. I’m onto her now though, hot on her trail and closing in. I’ll get that deliciously devilish girl if it’s the last thing I do.

Even if that means punishing her in ways both of us might enjoy. Perhaps especially if it means that, now that I’ve gotten a good look at the little minx.

The more I learn about this Lia Winchester, professional thief, proficient liar, brilliant escape artist, and unbelievably sexy mortal, the more I find myself wanting to draw out this chase, to savor it… perhaps to even partner with her on a heist of our own.

It’s been a long time since anyone’s managed to surprise me.

I think it’s only right that I return the favor.

I just adored Thor and Silvia’s story in the first book of JC Andrijeski’s Gods on Earth series (separately reviewed), and not just because the concept of a love story that starts with a god and a tech nerd meeting in a bar simply grabbed me. I mean, c’mon, Norse gods and their fated mates? I’m so there. Despite looking forward to the sequel I somehow missed Loki (Book 2) until after Tyr (Book 3) was released. Well, silly me, but I made up for it in one slap-happy addictive two book binge trip. I couldn’t help it as these books were as fun and addictive as Book 1. Frankly, as much as I adored Thor and Silvia, I simply don’t know which pairing is tops. Loki and Lia, the thief who outsmarted him, and Marion, who just doesn’t want Tyr to “save” her, are equally appealing. These books are indeed the promised ideal stories “for people who want a light romp to Asgard, [with] mischievous gods falling for unwitting humans”. Perfect, and totally fun paranormal romance and urban fantasy romps. Dragons, magical wolves, rather grumpy witches, magic and so much more. I’m sure any reader would find these hard to resist, so it’s easy for me to highly recommend both books.

OK, if Thor felt like MCU fanfic, Loki feels like MCU kinkfic (I swear, for the first half of the book, I had to keep checking whether I was, in fact, on AO3 or Kindle).

Once more, I read almost every line Loki utters in Tom Hiddleston's voice, although some of those lines ventured into serious WTF territory with all the food-related pet names he kept coming up with.

The 'problematic themes' I've tagged this review for relate to major issues of consent / undernegotiated kinks / power abuses in the first half of the book.

I'm personally choosing to believe that everything was discussed and negotiated ahead of time off camera, which allows me to enjoy the sheer silliness and fun of the power exchanges without guilt. I mean, I know Loki isn't a good guy, but he does actually talk about consent and check in AFTER the fact, so I'm retconning that conversation to have happened beforehand.

The reason I'm rating this one lower than Thor is that this feels like two completely separate books: one story that's just pure kink about how Lia and Loki meet and the plane trip home, and one that's plot-based where they do the rescue mission, and Loki figures out how to hang out on Earth. I feel like there's not really a lot connecting those two stories, except that they happen to take place chronologically in sequence.

Basically, like Thor, it's daft, brainless fun that's perfect for lockdown when my brain just isn't up to much deep thought - as long as I retcon the problematic themes out anyway.

I really enjoyed this story. Loki's character seems a little different than he did in the first book, but for the better. Loki has his magical ring stolen right off his finger by Lia Winchester. Loki being Loki, this surprises him and he believes he should try to convince the woman to join him. Be prepared for a lot of sexy time between Loki and Lia. Then there is the daring rescue of Lia's little sister from the syndicate guy. Thor and Tyr show up too for a little more family drama. It is a fun story if you like Loki and Norse Mythology or if you like sexy stories.

“Loki” is the second book in J.C. Andrijeski’s “Gods on Earth” Trilogy a delightful urban fantasy series depicted the Norse Pantheon in a way you might have not been expected, unless you’re already a fan of Andrijeski’s, then you have already learn to expect the unexpected, been awed every single time and enjoy the ride 😊.

Loki, very much in synch with his nature has once more manage to outwit them all, both his brothers (Thor & Tyr) and his own son (Jörmungardr), stealing the Andvaranaut (an Asgardian ring of immense power) right under their noses with no one the wiser. However, someone is about to con the God of Cons, and give him a dose of his own medicine. As Loki, fully pleased with himself (also to be read as ‘full on himself’), strolls through a market in Nepal, he happens upon Lia Winchester, a – usually - very professional thief, that can’t pass on the opportunity to steal that gorgeous gold ring from that handsome stranger. The ring can help to pay a good chunk of her debts to the mob boss, she is currently working for.

A skilled thief, Lia manages to steal ring, but she has not counted with Loki, who not only takes badly any attempt to outwit him, but also desperately needs the Andvaranaut to successfully hide from his family on Earth. On the other side Loki is also in for a ride because Lia doesn’t exactly fit the image he has of humans in general of females in particular. Be warned Loki remains very much Loki, there is not redemption for him, not any is necessary, he is naughty, mischievous, and a neverending source of mature entertainment. Loki might be morally wrong, but never evil per se, and always luring 😉

Andrijeski is addictive – I already knew that – expect the unexpected; However, always paired with non-stop-reading session, fast-paced action, humor (dark and otherwise), carefully world-building that mix elements of urban fantasy, Norse mythology (and she gets it right!) and paranormal romance, all perfectly wrapped up in Andrijeski's unique writing style.

Loki was feeling pleased with himself - he had stolen a magical ring called Andvaranaut from under the noses of Thor and Odin plus his own son Jörmungandr. But walking through a market in Nepal, a woman stole it from him in a very fleeting instant. Hot on her trail he is determined to get his ring back even if he has to punish her in ways that they might both enjoy. As he starts to learn more about Lia Winchester he realises that she is a professional thief, proficient liar, escape artist and very very sexy. Maybe they can partner on a heist of their own in the future?

Wow - this book was smoking hot from the start to the finish. Loki was completely mesmerised by Lia firstly with anger that she had stolen from him and then with lust and a fascination into what was a strong and very clever woman. I loved the way that Loki had a sense of honour and there were definite lines that he was not prepared to cross (let alone allow others to cross either). I loved the way that it appeared that he had crossed Lia near the end, but then she was able to work out that he actually hadn't and what he had really done (very clever). Well written and easy to read I was addicted to this story and definitely read into the early hours of the morning because I just could not put it down. Contains explicit sexual content.

Loki's book was so much better than Thor's! I really enjoyed this action packed romance. Here we follow Loki who has just stolen something only for a woman to steal it off from him, this intrigues him and he starts hunting her down.

The characters here, although still pretty basic, appeal much more and feel more engaged to their own stories. The female main character has an actual personality, talks and even has a personal purpose. Loki for his part was really interesting to read because of the utter nonsense he always said. The romance was entertaining and this one definitely had some steamy scenes. I liked their banter.

Overall, the book was entertaining.

I'm confused by this. Is it bad, no. But is it good...no. Perhaps it is because I felt like it was two different stories, one the whole 'she stole his ring' and the 'rescue of her sister' plot points. They should go together but how they are written just doesn't jive for me as a reader. For one plot, it's just sex-- and frankly, the way it was written was a bit jarring because while the dirty talk is explicit the sex itself was described as bland. I'm not huge on reading super spicey scenes, but when the work up was just so much more explicit than the sex itself I was just left a little jarred by it. The random food nicknames came out of no where. It reads like a fanfic, but I've read better fanfiction. This review probably leaves you confused because I said it wasn't bad...good, I'm confused too.

Lia Winchester is a professional thief, she was in Nepal trying to work off a debt to the American crime box for whom she works. When she sees the ring the gorgeous man is wearing she decides to steal it. Loki is strolling through the market very satisfied with his success in stealing the Andvaranuat out from under the noses of his father and brother. This ring will allow him to hide out on Earth for as long as he could want with not concerns that his family can find him.
Absolutely wonderful characters, well written and compelling. Exciting action, magical characters, sizzling hot sex scenes, some laugh out loud funny character interactions, and unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a must read, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

This story starts with Lia stealing Loki’s ring. After he tracks down her flight, you get a good 50 pages of kinky sex. Who knew you could do all that in such a small seating area!
Obviously this is an adult smutty Loki story. Lia is working for a bad guy, who’s holding her 12yr old sister hostage as leverage. Loki impressed someone gave him the slip for the first time in ages, gives his word he’ll help get her sister back.
This is a fast paced quick story. The sex is at the beginning. Loki is funny, witty and in his words “Bad, complicated but not evil” He’d never make any woman sleep with him or do anything she doesn’t want to do.
Read this if you’re a Loki fan and want some adult content mixed in.

Great book.

But it was REALLY tough going at the start.

Where Thors book was a great book from the start, this one not so much.

I wanted to shoot Loki, I didn't like this version at all. Demanding she's wears a tight dress and no knickers so he can 'indulge' himself on the flight, just seemed demeaning to both characters.

Things for me didn't start to turn around till they'd rescued Maia and Loki 's softer natured starts to come out.

Stick with it, it's a good book, but not great.

At the end I stopped wanting to kill him lol just 😁

I just loved this book Julie Light captured the very essence of Loki....
If sex isn't your thing then I wouldn't recommend this book.
It had the three brothers Loki, Thor and the third one will suprise you I don't think this one was mentioned being a brother of Loki and no it's not Bauldr
In this book Loki has met his match with the Winchester sisters.
I love that Loki is so fatherly in this book he mentions his children a few times in passing.
Thor is a total douchebag in this book

high spice no plot

I DNF this book at the half way point. I liked the spice. However Loki was not at all in character. It could have been any bully spice romance male character. If you are going to use known characters please do your research into them even if it is a spice book. Dubious consent in all forms.

Annoying to read

Loki goes from essentially treating the main character Lia like some weird sex slave, to being madly in love her with. The dialog is often cheesy and we hear literally DOZENS of times about Loki’s “leaf green eyes” I get it- his eyes are green. Really disappointed with this book and glad that I got to read it on kindle unlimited and didn’t spend money on it.

If you like your romance dirty and steamy then this is the one. I loved this version of Loki. Mischief doesn't mean evil, and the author does a great job of making a morally gray character deliciously likeable.

Good Story

This one is from Loki's point of view after he stole the ring in the last book in this one the same ring is stolen from Loki. From that point Loki must steal the ring back. This one was more graphic than the first book. Definitely not for kids. I liked the book.

Loki

Excellent, this is fantastic. I've always loved Loki the most in Norse mythology and how he's portrayed in movies. This was definitely a very intriguing read and everything I could imagine with Loki's mischievous personality. Not to mention his sexual appetites!

Loki the Trickster: Ruler of Earth?

The sex was hot! The opening scenes of this book grabs you from the start. A thief steals from a god who has stolen an important Asgardian ring which will allow him to rule Earth. Will Loki choose love or World domination?

A nice twist on the Norse mythology and pantheon. I love how the author portrayed Loki and created his way of speaking. He's very descriptive.

DNF: Consent?

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book. It started out fine. Thief steals from Loki. He tracks her down. He shapeshifts. Sees her plan. Gets his own plan - then assaults her?!?! Legit assaults. I get that he has seen her dream about him (which is also very odd) but he essentially corners her and molests her and then…it’s dubious consent. Then he controls her. Wait. What!?! Look. I am all for a dark, arrogant Loki but reading the first 50 pages hand me more squeamish than anything. Leah trades one master for another so easily and loses any credibility as a badass female because of it. Seriously, this ISN’T a romance. It’s abuse…and not the BDSM kind where consent ISN’T coercion.

Leaving on a jet plane

Loki finally meets his match in a typical Loki way. A little adventure, a little espionage and a whole lot of raunchy, definitely Loki. It's pretty funny when Thor doesn't get his way either. It was fun to learn some more about Tyr as well.
