Rasidian #1

Protected by the Alien Space Pirate

Rate this book
One Rasidian Space Pirate. One stolen human female.

Being a space pirate doesn’t make a being rich, which was why Rhilax was dealing with the biggest crime lord in the ten quadrants against his better judgment. He doesn’t know much about the job on offer, but he knows it’ll pay for food and supplies for himself and his brothers. Maybe enough to find a nice, quiet planet somewhere, forget about a life of smuggling and finally settle down.

He’s certainly not prepared when a female slave, none the likes he’d seen before, is led naked, chained and helpless to be his fated mate. He definitely wasn’t prepared when he obliterates his dream, along with the crime lord’s head, kidnaps the female and makes a target of himself and his brothers - The crime lord has a brother and the brother wants them all dead.

When their ship is destroyed, Rhilax and his brothers are blown into the far reaches of the known universe. To make matters worse, the escape pod is wrecked and his fated mate has escaped. Rhilax must find her before the crime lord’s thugs, or the unknown creatures on this planet, and complete the bond before his mind is lost to the mating urge.

She can’t remember her name. Or her life before the cages. Maybe it’s better not knowing. Being trapped in a cage and grieving a beautiful life would be the worst kind of torture. She’s good at zoning out, but it gets harder and harder to disregard the massive blue-skinned alien who tells her he is her fated mate, whatever that is. All she knows is if she doesn’t get away from him, she might never be free again.

If you like impossible odds, wilderness planets, sexy alpha blue-skinned aliens and the tension of fated mates, you’ll love Protected by the Alien Space Pirate.

I've been wondering how I was going to rate Protected for most of the last thirty eight chapters. I read this genre purely for fun. Alien smut - it's invariably ridiculous and usually amusing, especially when the authors lean into the humour, looking at culture shock and the like.

Protected is not amusing in any way. It's pretty dark, actually. There's graphic abuse and the heroine has PTSD. She's had most of her personality beaten out of her and the hero's personality is largely wiped clean by instalove. So... while her struggles are probably realistic considering her trauma, I didn't connect with either character enough to feel more than vaguely sorry for them. Mostly I just felt like everyone expected too much from our heroine who had only escaped her enslavers roughly two weeks before the end.

The writing needs a fair amount of proofreading for grammatical and syntactical mistakes and because of this, I'm inclined towards a low rating, although I do feel that the writing could hold some promise once tidied.

Good story

I enjoyed the story in this book. The slow building of the relationship and the healing of both H and h. Looking forward to continuing this series.

Best Alien book ever-still adults only

Oh, my, gosh! Although not my "perfect alien bride" read, this comes close.
Why are most of the aliens raping monsters? Finally, an alien fighting-enhanced hero with compassion and sensitivity. I am ecstatic!

Yep, the evil aliens are trafficking human females (considered an illegal activity by planetary guilds); however, a kind and sensitive alien rescues the human female captive and wait for it, doesn't "mate" until the female is ready and willing. Takes quite a lot of the book to get to that point. Yea!

Yes, graphic violence and sex (over 18 readers for sure). It is not ideal, it doesn't have everything, but it is an improvement in the genre, and it's not just instant-sex or quasi rape or monster mating.

The alien, in this instance, is protective, caring, and supportive of the female. He risks everything to rescue her from sex slavery with other alien fractions.

He even wants her as his mated bride, although the evil aliens have made sure that she cannot reproduce. That makes him ahead of some "humans" (in that respect) since his species is almost extinct. The only members of his species that survived the targeted genetic pandemic annihilation were off-planet.

Of course, this tale is part of a series; our hero's brothers are still missing. He lost contact with his brothers when they bailed out of their spacecraft in the emergency pods after being targeted for destruction after they rescued the female.

There's plenty of fighting sanctioned by the good enlightened aliens against evil aliens, multiple no-win situations, raging male testosterone, loving females, and etcetera.

I received a free ARC and loved this author's writing.

Fate Doesn't Make Mistakes...

by and1515

Sometimes you had to make deals with less than stellar scumbags if he and his brothers had any chance of surviving.
The offer of a job was what they'd been hoping for however he'd barely caught his brother's warning.
Then he saw a poor girl being dragged and that was it he'd nearly lost his mind he had absolutely no control ever single cell in his body was screaming.
He wasn't really paying attention as the offensive scumbag keep rambling on about his so called job.
But all he saw was that poor girl and finally at the end of his endurance and patience he makes his final move leaving that schmuck and anyone else in his path
dead.
The only thing that matter was in his arms as he and his brothers made a hasty exit.
Rhilax knew he owed them the truth as to why he'd lost his mind.
But neither of his brothers berated him for his weird actions once he finally explained he'd had finally found his other half.
The darkness had been her only escape from the horrors she'd been forced to endure by the hands of many monsters who'd truly enjoyed the pain and anguish they'd inflected on her.
Now she had no idea who she was or even where and the strange being keep trying to reassure her that he would never hurt her or let anyone else.
Unfortunately they've been seperated from his brothers and now there alone together and as always Rhilax will do anything to take care of her.
But it'll take more then just pretty words for her to trust his intentions towards her.
However danger has both there names and when it finally appears will she loss herself to her safe place? Or will she finally stand on her own two feet and defend herself?

This is the third series written in this "world" in the first series (Hexonian Alien Abduction) Reptiles have abducted human females and that has a continuous plot through all of the series. Each book/series can be read as a standalone but I recommend starting with the Hexonian series first.
The Reptiles are at it again. They are on the run from the Interspecies Council and have dumped off their remaining human captives to be sold off as slaves. Rhilax and his brothers are pirates and they are trying to make some cash so when they hear that Shilsogar might have a job for them. When Rhilax sees his mate walk into the room he knew this was NOT going to work out as he wanted.
She doesn't know she is. The only thing she remembers is waking in a cage with Shilsogar over her.
I liked this book, it fits in great with the rest of these books/series. The h is very closed down but I think she was well written and her character grew as the story went. Rhilax was understanding and I loved how he was with the h.
*Hexonian Alien Abduction
Book 1 - Jo-Aquin
Book 2 - Striker
Book 3 – Alastor
*Negari Reverse Harem Alien Abduction
Book 4 – The Ozar Triad
Book 5 – The Arabis Triad
Book 6 – The Erion Triad
*Rasidian Alien Warrior SciFi Romance
Book 7 – Protected by the Alien Space Pirate
Book 8 – Claimed by the Alien Space Pirate
Book 9 – Rescued by the Alien Space Pirate

Human slavery

Rilax n his brothers Rase n Rhi are smugglers but they're looking for work from one of the biggest crime lords in the galaxy. The crime lord sends for his favorite slave ,a human female, she's in an emaciated state, but one look by Rilax ignites his mating instincts. He tries to stay calm but the way the crime lord treats her is too much. He grabs him, tearing his head off, then all the rest of his goons try to stop him from escaping the space station with the human female. He makes it to his ship n his brothers question his motives until he tells them she's his mate.
I loved how patient Rilax was toward the female who didn't remember anything about her abduction nor her family or friends or her planet of origin. She constantly retreated into a safe place in her mind when she threatened. Rilax would talk to her quietly, rub her back, n rock her until she became aware again. When she told him how she was treated, he wanted to kill the crime lord again but slowly this time.
You really get sucked into this story, feeling their pain n suffering, wanting to exact your own revenge on the slavers. Kudos to the author.

You should read this book!

Even warrior turned smugglers need to work so three brothers try to get a job running merchandise for some scum for money. During the meeting a slave is brought in and turns out to be one alien's mate! He must save her but by doing so brings the wrath of the scum's brother on himself, his mate and his brothers. His mate can't remember her past in or even her name and has to heal from the trauma she has endured before she can even think about a relationship. His endless patience and her inner strength help them to become everything true mates can be.
This story is as much about her healing journey and his understanding of what she needs as it is an alien romance with sex and action. It has everything. I love a sexy warrior that shows such tenderness to his mate. It always makes me melt. I will continue to read this series.

These stories are so worth while reading and this first book in this series it sees more of the captured girls finding their mates. Three Rasidian brothers space pirates, warriors, and this story is how Rhilax finds his mate a slave whom he rescues and will start war just to get her free. Also her true courage stŕength to overcome what happened to her when she was kidnapped and sold. In my opinion this really is quite an emotional story plus its got plenty of action that will keep you turning page after page..

I thoughly reccommend this story to lovers of aliens and to those who truely love a good story. This author really captures the audience with her wonderful stories and the different species that become mates to human females
Definately worth 5 stars

"Protected by the Alien Space Pirate" by Charmaine Ross is a thrilling escapade into the realm of science fiction romance. The unique combination of alien encounters and space piracy creates an engaging backdrop for the story. Ross skillfully weaves together elements of protection and intrigue, keeping the reader hooked from start to finish. The characters are well-developed, and the dynamics between them add depth to the narrative. While the title might suggest a certain tone, the book manages to balance the adventurous aspects with moments of tension and tenderness. For those who enjoy a blend of romance and intergalactic excitement, "Protected by the Alien Space Pirate" is a solid four-star read that delivers on both fronts.

This review is for the audiobook.
It was OK, though the fact that some characters had very similar names was confusing (Katie and Kat, Rhilax, who is called Rhis by his brothers, and Rase). Things were way too fast for the situation depicted; it wasn’t the worse representation ever, but I doubt a victim of torture and SA would feel horny mere days after being rescued, and for a male she barely knows, mate bond or not (which, according to the characters, humans can’t feel, so, it shouldn’t have affected her). The characters were too generic to be memorable, and since this is like the middle of a series (I picked it up because it’s supposed to be number one in a series, but apparently it is part of another one too), the worldbuilding is barely there.

Rhilax and his brothers are Rasidian Space Pirates. Rhilax is getting tired of smuggling and he wants to settle down. He isn't prepared to see his fated mate being lead into the room chained and naked. Well instead of getting the supplies needed he kills the crime lord and steals his mate. Plenty of action in this story, drama, fear, pain, heartache, building trust, twists and turns, and passion/love. Love the characters and the relationship between the two main characters. Will his mate ever remember her name? Read the story and find out. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great story!

This alien Insta-love story is different from any other I have read. Even though the alien knows the human female is his mate, he will not claim her until she is ready to claim him too. She has been enslaved and very nearly broken, so it will take some time and a lot of understanding before she is ready for love/soul bonding. This is a fierce alien, battle ready and battle scarred. She is a spirit-strong female who needs to be able to defend herself to feel whole again. The story is worth 5 stars, I deducted one for the typos and mixed pronouns. Read this if you love the alien/human dynamic - with a lot of heart.

3,5 stars this is a fated mates story between a human female and an alien space pirate. i picked this up free on Amazon as an e book I enjoyed it for the most part the plot kept my attention and it felt well paced the fated maté relationship was respectful and patient and I liked both the main characters. the ebook edition that I read did have a few spelling mistakes or words in the wrong order but i so did not really mind. I would say to check the trigger warning before reading this book as it covers the topics of dealing with panic/anxiety after being kidnapped/abused and being held as a slave.

Psychologically Endearing

This is a book about the travails of making one's way through an abusive situation to regain control over one's life. It was written in an extremely tender and poignant way. The abused female mentally closeted herself away from her abusers in order to be devoid of the abuse. Her fated mate, Rhi, had to demonstrate the utmost restraint in dealing with her. This book was extremely well written from this perspective. However, that was all it was: A journey into the ability to deal with the effects of having been physically and psychologically abused. A reader looking for more than this would be disappointed.

Protected and Loved

I loved the character development of the female lead; from someone who goes into a fugue state to escape horrible situations to someone who’s adamant about being able to protect herself. Rhilax is so caring and protective, absolutely the perfect male to help her with her traumas. I think this might be my favourite Charmaine Ross novel; I’ve read her Negari Alien Abduction series, but this story was better, and I’m excited for the next in the series (Claimed by the Alien Space Pirate).

I loved this story it’s a fantastic read there’s action, adventure, suspense, danger, drama, passion and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. Rhilax found his mate she is a slave to Shilsogar he had a chain around her neck he pressed a button and it sent an electrical charge through her body, Rhilax has had enough so he kills Shilsogar and runs with his mate. I loved this story and I can’t wait to read more by this author and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Wow

I don’t think I will ever understand any person or alien that thinks slavery is okay. I enjoyed this book because of the fight to free the captured and tortured slaves. The hero is full of honor and patience, the best thing the poor slave girl could have been blessed to meet. That she was so broken was horrible. I could not even begin to imagine. The characters are well thought out, the world building was minimal but that didn’t take away from the story at all. I hope all 3 brothers end up with a human mate.

I'll give my left nut if you stop writing -verti

Seriously I understand we all have the right to try and write a novel. That is why I jumped ahead to book five to give this author a second chance.

I'm so sick and tired of authors taking an idea that's been done over a hundred times and trying to make it theirs. And bashing the reader over the head with a poor storyline and no character development.
So no just no!

In theory I would give an author a third try and go to the last book they've written
.. but I'm not a masochist.

Cheers

Thank goodness this was free

This is a very well written book 1 in the Rasidian Space Warriors series with great characters. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. These characters are believably well-crafted and are likable. I love the story and the way they show their love for her. I have bought every book this author has written so far.

But when they try to get a job with one of the crime lords head it does not go right. Rhilax plays cards with Shilsogar so him and his brothers can do a job. When Shilsogar brings out the what he wanted them to carry out of there. They do not know what species they are. Now would be the time to get the book.

This book had an extensive and well thought out story line which was filled with emotive, real characters. I was drawn into the plot quite quickly and could not put it down as it was a real page turner as you just had to see what would happen next. It was a very easy book to lose yourself in.I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend.

In comparison to other books of this genre, we do have a compassionate and gentle alien hero! The heroine is traumatized, abused and has suffered quite a deal during her captivity. The characters feel real, struggle with their own demons and try to move on. This book is full of action, drama and steamy scenes. It is the first book I read from this author and I am waiting anxiously for the next one :)

Cute story, could be better

I wanted so bad to rate this higher but unfortunately there are so many typos that it was a distraction. It’s a cute story. Follows the typical alien abduction, fated mate/rescuer theme but it was still a like-able story. A good editor or beta reader would do wonders for this book. I would give this author another try but don’t know if I’ll continue with the series yet or not.

Nice guys do win!

Overall, the book is good, although another round of proofreading would help fix the grammatical errors, wrong words, missing words, etc. that are sprinkled throughout. The hero is wonderful, strong and alpha without being an abusive jerk. The heroine is realistic in her fear and hesitation to accept his assurances of safety. All in all, a good story. Nicely done.

This book would have really benefited from a time skip or two. When you are dealing with subjects as heavy as literal torture and sexual slavery it just isn't something you manage over the course of a long weekend. I just don't buy anyone being horny within a few hours of being freed from a situation where they were regularly tortured and raped. I would have appreciated the story about healing and feeling safe after going through trauma but it was not well handled.

This was quite the reading adventure and a great series opener. I really enjoyed how sensitive he was to earn her trust and supported her in her need for self security. Expect a ton of action, good vs evil aliens and a steamy romance in this page turner. There is an over arcing plot so we have more to look forward to :)
