Queer fiction author Roe Horvat was born in the former Czechoslovakia. Equipped with a dark sense of sarcasm and a penchant for Czech beer, Roe traveled Europe and finally settled in Sweden. He came out as transgender in 2017 and has been fabulous since. He loves Jane Austen, Douglas Adams, bad action movies, stand-up comedy, pale ale, and daiquiri, with equal passion. When not hiding in the studio doing graphics, he can be found trolling cafés in Gothenburg, writing, and people-watching.
My favorite of the bunch as Walter helps an aristocratic omega through his first heat.
Of course, this was dirty explicit hot peppered with a real sensitivity to the situation in and amongst all the lovely KNOTTING. What this also sets up is Horvat’s next book Devoted, which further explores Caleb in how he finds his true alpha. I’m definitely looking forward to it!
Lookit, I'm not trying to hate on these shorts or anything but I know from experience what this author can bring to the porn party and I feel like these are all unrealized or half-hearted efforts. Just when things get going the brakes get thrown and I'm left feeling unfulfilled. The worst part is they have all had ENORMOUS potential which makes me even more fussy.
Maybe my expectations were too high for what these were intended to be. Especially this one because I was really expecting some naughty that blew my doors clean off. Bossy virgin bottom that's a lot mischievous, very determined and has a phenomenal poker face where his fathers are concerned. In short, dude's got a plan for his first heat that differs greatly from his fathers which I was 100% onboard with but I'll just leave you with my primary thought: if you're going to do omega porn...
As the fourth story in this series of shorts, Caleb's First does a damn good job of balancing the wildly steamy and the deeply sensual omega kink, which I pretty much demand in any good omegaverse story and which Horvat effortlessly delivers.
Not a romance in and of itself, this story serves as a prequel of sorts for omega Caleb’s true romance in Devoted. I definitely liked what we learned about Caleb here (and I certainly enjoyed what HE learned), and I’m definitely keen to read about him finding a forever alpha to love and adore him the way he deserves.
But what interests me most, is how desperately I now wish for series lead, Walter Sebastien, to find an epic love too. As great (and professional) as he is at guiding omegas (and sometimes their partners) through their heats, I sense a loneliness in him that will only be abated when he finds someone to call his own.
I’ll be keeping an eagle eye out for the promise of more Walter action in the future, I can promise you that, but until then, I’ll happily bide my time with Horvat’s other delicious books.
Walter is just the nicest man. In his job as a heat teacher he treats his clients with nothing but respect, sensitivity and compassion while privately he yearns to have more than ‘simply’ highly satisfying sex.
This is the prequel to the next full length novel in this universe. Caleb has no partner yet, so spends his first heat with Walter. As always, the intensity of passion pours off the pages, but you feel the connections between the two men, too. Even though it isn’t really romantic, it is deep and genuine.
I can’t wait for Walter to find someone for himself. I guess it’s Caleb’s turn first!
holyhotdamn! How does Roe Horvat build such amazing relationships between his characters in under 40 pages?!? Simply fantastic... and what a lead in to Devoted! You don't have to read this first, but heck, what have you got to loose? https://claims.prolificworks.com/publ...
As ever in this series, while the sex is off the charts, it's the emotional connections which form between the partners which Roe knocks out of the park.
This is the prequel to the full-length novel about Caleb Devoted which I'm reading atm (it's also awesome) and so, while it can be read on its own, it acts as a great introduction into Caleb's world.
This is kind of a prequel for Caleb's book but you can also read just the first chapter and say it's another standalone in the shorts' series. Lighthearted and fun.
Caleb has a ton of baggage before he even meets Walter his Heat teacher. His parents are a bit suffocating. But he defies them a bit with Walter. I’m excited Caleb gets his own full book. Walter needs one too. This was a quick taste of Caleb’s first heat and the kindness that Walter shows him. AND it’s hot AF. Roe is the best at the hot and sexy scenes!
I have read these shorts a while back when I was reading Roe Horvat's back to back(read fluffy smutathon ). They are in based in the same omegaverse as 'Devoted' and 'Innocent'.
For a brief moment (it was brief because these stories are way too short but they pack a punch in the hotness department) I was worried that my dear and beloved Walter was going to have his HEA in a 40-page novella. It wasn't fair! He deserves the full-epic-novel-length treatment. But fear not. This is just an appetizer for the yumminess that is Caleb Massoud and I just wish the guy in the cover was more brown-skinned.
Another chapter in 'Walter Sebastian's Notebook' and, as usual, lots of thoroughly intense Omega heat sex. I didn't enjoy this one quite as much, it described fisting and I totally don't like that, can't read it, gives me the heebie jeebies. But, that aside, another good short story.
I’m so glad Caleb’s first time was with Walter, I also loved we got an alternative POV from Nate and Caleb at the afterparty. I just finished Devoted -Nate and Caleb’s book- and I absolutely loved it!
All 4 of these babies are SMOKING HOT!!!! I don't even read Omegaverse but I do love Roe's writing!! LOL I am looking forward to reading Devoted when it comes out!! Walter needs a HEA too!!
