About the author

Laural Farabaugh is an award winning children’s picture book author and illustrator who fell in love with picture books after years of reading to her own children. With her passion for painting, she loves to create colorful illustrations that light up the faces of children and write stories that parents and grandparents will love to read-a-loud. She has published 4 books that include Where Do the Bugs Go When it Rains?, Where Do the Bugs Go When it Snows?, Where Do the Bugs Go to Sleep? and Finding Easter. Her interest in bugs came to her in an unusual way when her preschooler asked her, “Mom, where do the bugs go when it rains?” This simple question was the spark and inspiration for her series. She spent 10 years, while raising her kids, painting the 28 pages of illustrations for her first book. She spent those years dreaming of becoming an author and decided to make it a reality with her own books inspired by her children and love for art. Laural is a 2020 winner of a Royal Dragonfly Book Award for Where Do the Bugs Go When it Rains? She currently lives in the Baltimore area of Maryland with her husband, two daughters and one adorable golden doodle dog. She works in a local hospital as a Specialist in Microbiologist in the field of Infection Prevention by day and writes or paints by night.

Where Do the Bugs Go When it Snows is a fun story about Levi the bug who is excited for it to start snowing as he's always dreamt of going out into the snow but he ends up in a bit of trouble.

This is a fun rhyming story which follows Levi on his snowy adventures. It is good to see lots of different kinds of bugs in the story and see how they all go out of their way to help each other. It is very hard to explain without spoiling this story! It is nice that we get to see Levi thinking about the decisions he made and trying to be independent even when his decisions didn't go as he planned.

The illustrations are colourful and fun and it is nice to see a few different kinds of insects being shown in the story. It is nice to see Levi's emotions shown so clearly through the book as it helps the children see how Levi now feels.

This is a fun story that we enjoyed, it is not the longest but is full of adventures and friendship.
