Regency Scotland comes alive in the vibrant and sexy new SCOTS OF HONOR series by USA TODAY bestselling author Eliza Knight. Scottish military heroes, who want nothing more than to lay low after the ravages of war in 19th century France, find their Highland homecomings vastly contradict their simple desires. Especially when they meet the feisty lasses who are tenacious enough to take them on, and show them just what they’ve been missing out of life. In battle they can’t be beaten, but in love, they all find the ultimate surrender.

Back from the war, Captain Euan Irvine of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, and heir to the Laird of Drum, learns of his grandfather’s death...and the will stipulating whichever grandson produces an heir first will inherit his title and properties. Except that this is a race of which Euan wants no part. Marriage and heir producing is better left to the gentleman in society. He is not distinguished, and he is far from proper. Euan’s a rough and tumble warrior still seething with bitterness from the horrors of war and the men he lost. Under pressure from his clan to save them from being led by his vile cousin, Euan reluctantly agrees to enter the marriage mart. Strategizing for the quickest win, Euan decides to hire a governess to help polish him for marriage, and for his new role as Laird.

A new beginning and a situation that’s both dangerous and murderous force a young lady to look at her future.
Bronwen has lost her parents and she’s trying to pay off their debts, a seemingly impossible task.

Euan is in a similar situation, his family’s future is at stake and he’s in desperate need of a wife and heir, but lacks the ability to look for the right candidate.

The two are made to be together, I could feel it from the moment they meet, the characters feed of each other’s beautiful chemistry and it’s perfect.
Great story and some wonderful side characters, love the sisters.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

When Captain Euan Irvine learns upon his grandfather’s death that the old man changed the terms of his will, he is upset, but it isn’t until he learns what the changes are that he gets really angry and wants no part of it! But with so many tenants and six sisters to care for, Euan knows he can’t let them down and will have to dance to his grandfather’s twisted tune – meaning, the first grandson to enter into a loving marriage and produce an heir, will inherit everything – the two barony titles, all the properties, and title of Chief of the Irvine clan. He has never had a problem attracting women and figures this will be no different – but his sisters disagree and say wooing a bride is not the same as seducing a lover and suggest he hire a governess to help him with proper etiquette and to their surprise, he agrees.

Bronwen Holmes is by no means an appropriate etiquette governess, but when the gaming hell owner AKA Prince demands that she make good on her parents’ debt – a debt that he had them killed for – she has no choice but to beg her cousin Emilia for help. Emilia has an idea, she shows Bronwen the advert for a governess in the highlands and suggests that Bronwen take that job, even offering to book her passage on one of Andrewson Shipping, her employer’s ships. Unsure but out of options, Bronwen heads for the highlands.

Bronwen’s first meeting with Euan is hilarious and completely priceless. She basically hires herself for the position and leaves Euan wondering what just happened, but he decides to go along with it. It is not long before Euan and his sisters realize that Bronwen is not who or what she claims to be, but after getting a letter from his friend Lorne Gordon, the Duke of Sutherland and husband of Jaime the owner of Andrewson Shipping, and learning that she is in some sort of danger, he decides to play along with her charade. The problem is, the more time he spends with her, the more time he wants and soon he is sure that she is the answer to his inheritance problem. But Bronwen has secrets and even after confessing her deception, being accepted, and even knowing that he is the only man she will ever love, she is still not sure she is the right woman for Euan.

This was a well-written, fast-paced book with more than one twist that will keep you saying NO WAY and OMG, until the very end! Of the three books in the series so far, this one is my favorite, I just loved the instant connection between Bronwen and Euan, and his sisters are wonderful secondary characters who add so much to this book without outshining the leads. This book has a little bit of everything; mystery, witty banter, laugh-out-loud moments, secrets, steamy love scenes, great secondary characters, cameos from previous characters, a bit of angst, a truly evil villain, more than one surprising twist, and finally a HEA complete with an epilogue! This is the third book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone title with no issues. I loved this book and am happy to recommend it!

Returning soldier Captain Euan Irvine, learns that he might not be the only heir to the Barony and Lairdship of Drum. Thanks to a stipulation in his grandfather’s will, either of his two grandsons could become the titleholder, depending on which one marries and produces an heir first, but it must be a love match. Euan is not exactly a proper society gentleman and not really the marrying kind. But he cannot allow his clan or his younger sisters to fall under the dominion of his villainous cousin, so Euan agrees with his sisters’ plan to hire a governess to dust off his rough edges and prepare him to find a bride.

Bronwen Holmes isn’t exactly a governess, but she needs to escape the creditors who murdered her parents a year ago and are now after her to settle their debts. When her cousin suggests the position as a way for her to escape Edinburgh for a few weeks, Bronwen sees little alternative but to go and barge her way into the role of governess, though she is surprised to find her charge is a grown man and not a passel of young girls. She knows little about society but brazens her way through anyway, striving to hide how charmed she is by her employer and to keep him and his sisters in the dark about her past.

I really enjoyed this take on the hidden identity trope and the Scottish setting was a big plus for me. It’s not too often that we get Regency set Highlanders, so I thoroughly enjoyed that here. Euan was an adorably clueless hero absolutely surrounded by women, but he took it all in stride. I really liked that he fell first, or at least admitted his feelings first, and that he did everything he could to make Bronwen feel safe and make her understand that he didn’t judge her for her past. I struggled to like Bronwen a bit just because she was often illogical, but I think allowances should be made for that because of how desperate her circumstances were and had been, and how few people she’d been able to rely upon. I was just frustrated when her doubts kept seeming to linger even after Euan kept proving himself to her, especially given her continued tendency to jump to conclusions. Fortunately, she did realize she was being irrational, and this wound up being a satisfying slow burn.

We step into the story line just as Euan, the hero, learns his fate and path has just been set by a twisted, bizarre clause in his not so great, grandfather's will. Though eluded to as a former flirt and Casanova charmer of lasses, thankfully we only see Euan as having eyes, lips, and a heart focused on Bronwen, the lovely damsel in distress heroine. Falling for each other practically from the get go, their slow paced, dancing around each other love story unfolds throughout the majority of this book with a few graphic steamy scenes kicking in near the end.

There is back and forth banter and self denial they can never be, but not to worry, folks. Love comes to the rescue and prevails. Sure, we were told numerous times he was looking for a bride, but we all knew he had already found it at first glance.

Euan really swept me off my feet with his protectiveness and heart melting, genuine desire to help Bronwen, even without knowing her full situation. His whole family could not have been more supportive, as well.

I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and embarrassed for Bronwen on more than one occasion as she clearly was in way over her head. She gave new meaning to fake it til you make it, folks.

As expected, danger does come walking right up to their door with a big reveal I did not see coming at all. Euan mans up and handles things in a swoon worthy alpha knight in shining armor kind of way that just gave me more reasons to fall for this guy myself.

I admit I dinged this book a star for the loose sort of way things meandered on after the major threat was over. Perhaps it felt a bit too formatic and obvious in the wrap up and epilogue.

Just know, Scots of Honor has been a great romantic read series for me so far, and I continue to look forward to more releases from this talented Scottish historical romance author.

Title: Taming the Scot, Series: Scots of Honor (Book 3), Author: Eliza Knight, Pages: 250, pub date: 8/24/21, stand-alone but part of a series, protective good guy hero, determined damsel in distress, graphic smexy scenes late in book, HEA, no OP after meeting, virgin heroine, romance safe, IMHO.

Book 1 - Return of the Scot
Book 2 - The Scot is Hers
Book 3 - Taming the Scot

Eliza Knight is a favorite author of mine and her “Taming the Scot” book 3 in the Scots of Honor Series, is new favorite. I enjoyed the story immensely!

Captain Euan Irvine, presumed heir to the Baron of Drum and chief of his clan, learns of his grandfather’s death. The Baron’s will stipulates whichever grandson produces an heir first will be the rightful claimant to his title and properties. Ryan has just returned from war in France and wants no part of marriage and producing heirs. Convinced be his sisters he hires a governess to teach him proper manners and how to become a gentleman and prepare for marriage. A task to be certain for any governess, for Euan is a warrior, still angry over the injustices of war and lives lost. He’s a good man, truly worthy to be laird. Ewan and Bronwen’s story is so beautiful. She’s just what he needs!

A truly delightful, humorous story sure to enchant. The author weaves a tale around the two excellent characters who are so easy to love. Euan’s sisters were wonderful. The story has a good plot is that’s interesting and keeps your attention throughout the story. As always Ms. Knight writes a beautiful story with amazing dialogue and characters.

Thank you so much Ms. Knight for such an entertaining and adorable love story.

Drum Castle 1817
Euan was the new Baron of Drum, the Chief of the entire Irvan clan that spanned holdings across Scotland... Or was he? Unfortunately his grandfather was dictating his life, even from the grave! He was forced into a race to marry for love and produce an heir before his cousin Hector.

Bronwen was running... for her life that is due to the money lenders chasing her for what her late parents owed them. Where was she to go? Her cousin Emilia had a plan and it involved becoming a governess for Euan's sisters..

There was no way not to love Euan. He was charming and handsome, but when he meets Bronwen, well he has to work a little harder. Humor, witty banter, villians, Euan's lovely sisters (I hope they get their own stories!) and a delightful journey to their happy ending!!

Drum Castle, 1817

Captain Euan Irvine of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is not happy when he gets the shocking news after his Grandfather’s death! Baron of Drum and Chief of the Irvine clan is absolutely furious and for good reason ! He just got a notification from his grandfathers solicitor which forces him to marry or he will lose his title and properties. It’s not just marriage but he must product an a bairn, as the first one to produce an heir will inherit plus it must be a loving marriage. So it can’t be an arranged marriage where he get his heir and sends his wife off to live in a different home! He is in competition with his corrupt Uncle’s son, The Uncle who almost stole everything from he and his six sisters! As he cousin is cut from same cloth as his fathers criminal twin brother! Plus the fact Euan has never been in love in his life and most women just want him for his money and titles. He feels this is a goal he will never accomplish and will lose everything! What will he and the six sisters he had been caring since he was fourteen years old do? So he can’t pick a wife that he does not love so his sister’s recommend he get a governess to teach him lessons in etiquette and how to woo a lady properly.

Bronwen Holmes is absolutely terrified, as her parents have been murdered because of this debt they owed to gaming hell owner AKA Prince. She thought with AKA Prince having her parents murdered would have been enough. Evidently her parents had a gambling addiction and borrowed more money than they could ever pay back. Now Bronwen is being threatened and no matter how many side jobs she took she could never pay back this enormous debt back. It also seemed the gaming hell owner had other plans for Bronwen that didn’t include paying him back with coin, but working for him which will be more like owning Bronwen. She had no idea what it was, but she being a young attractive woman it wasn’t hard to figure out. Now she was hiding from his henchmen who already gave her a beating and a chipped tooth! Desperately she asked her cousin Emilia for advice to help her out of this life threatening predicament.

Bronwen’s cousin shows her compassion and the notice for a governess in the highlands and books her an admission on Andrewson Shipping who Emilia works for. Fearing the unknown in a position she knows nothing about, yet what choice does Bronwen have? As she must get out of Edinburgh as soon as possible, definitely before Prince’s men can catch her as her life depends on it!

She shows up and is surprised how attractive Captain Euan Irvine is, but is shocked her students won’t be children but a grown man and it is the Captain himself! She is to teach him proper etiquette and how to behave in society and woo a lady. Of course it was hilarious since the Captain had been among society for some time. Euan finds Bronwen absolutely adorable and the most beautiful woman he has ever seen but enjoys playing the novice in this game. Bronwen also respects how he will help any of his tenants and will work side by side with the farmers harvesting the land. Euan’s sisters also seem to enjoy her company which is a big plus in his book, which includes how well she fit in with his family. It does not take long to realize she is no governess, plus Euan finds out from his friend Lorne Gordon, Duke of Sutherland, she is in some kind of trouble. Since her cousin Emilia works for his wife Jamie who owns Andrewson Shipping. Of course now Euan wants to help her, but does not know how to get this information out of her. The other problem is even though he knows he should marry a lady but he has never felt for any woman what he feels for Bronwen. She also too seems to melt in Euan’s arms but feels she will never be good enough for a man like him. Will the gaming hell owner find Bronwen and force her to work in an undesirable life? Will Euan lose all his lands and titles to his disreputable cousin that will ruin his sisters futures as well? Will Euan pick a lady or the governess who isn’t a governess but owns his heart? So many complications that you must read this phenomenal story to find out the result.

This is the third and final book in the Scots of Honor and I have been delighted reading Lorne’s, Alec and now Euan’s story. In this story Taming the Scot it reminded me a little bit of My Fair Lady with a twist. As Euan in Eliza Dolittle’s role and Bronwen in Henry Higgins role. Of course this story was completely different and original, it was only the part of where a governess wants to teaches a titled Laird how to woo a lady that reminded me of “My Fair Lady”. As the plotting and dialogue was so clever and in many areas hilarious too! It is another riveting story that will keep readers on their toes plus you can’t help but love Euan’s family! Of course you have a lot of empathy for Bronwen too.

You can read this book as a stand alone book or in book series order. Of course I recommend you read all three books in this brilliant series. A great way of understanding the relationship of these three titled heroes-who were also soldiers in the Peninsular war. I have been reading Ms. Knight for over eleven years and I always get swept away in her romantic, dazzling, fast-paced, page-turning, Scottish adventures that readers will absolutely love!

Taming the Scot
Scots of Honor #3
Eliza Knight
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Captain Euan Irvine of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is back from war and ready to take care of his sisters and everyone who is on his lands. But the new Laird of Drum, learns of his gradnfathers death, and the will stipulating whichever grandson produces an heir first will inherit his title and properties. To say that Euan is angry is an understatement. This is a race that Euan want no part of. Marriage and having heirs is better left to the gentlemen in society. He's definitely not distinguished, and he couldn't be further away from proper that's normal. He's a rough and tumble warrior who's still seething with anger and bitterness from the horror of war and the men he could not save. One could almost say he feels as if he's damaged goods.
Now left under pressure from his clan and family from being led by his vile cousin Hector, Euan reluctantly agrees to enter polite society and the marriage mart.
Euan decides to hire a governess to help polish him for Marriage, and his new role as laird, but he never would have expected to get a governess like Miss Bronwen Holmes. She intrigues him like nobody ever has before.

Bronwen Holmes just wants to become invisible, but she knows that's not possible so she goes for the next available way and that is to disappear from her deceased parents creditors, who have threatened to abduct her into a fate worse then death.
So when she comes across an advertisement for a governess in the Highlands, she gets out of Edinburg to start a new life there. The only thing is she definitely didn't realize the her charge would be a grown man who with one look can make her stomach flutter.

Eliza Knight knows exactly what her readers want. She pens an all to real struggle that many ladies have probably been through. The story had me from the get go and I lovingly read it in one day. The two main characters were absolutely fabulous. There chemistry was right off the page. This story was a lovely thing for me to have the honor of reading at this point in my life. It soothed my soul like the best balm could only do. Thank you Ms. Knight I truly enjoyed the story.

Captain Euan Irvine of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, is supposed to be Baron of Drum and Chief of the Irvine Clan, per his grandfather’s will. The will also states that he must produce an heir first in order to keep the titles. Euan doesn’t know anything about being a gentleman so his sisters come up with a brilliant plan to hire a governess in order to find a girl willing to marry him to make that heir with him. Euan isn’t really for sure how to go about finding a governess with all his sister’s help advertise for a governess in the paper. Miss Bronwen Holmes needed to escape the creditors that were chasing her due to her family’s debt. Bronwen was able to get away and found a brief respite with her cousin. Her cousin’s plan to put her on a boat to take her to Aberdeen and Drum castle to be the governess while also hiding from those who want to harm her. Euan wonders about Bronwen especially when it seems she really doesn’t know how a gentleman should act; falling more in love with her by the day. Bronwen hides many secrets but the biggest one could cost them both their lives.
This is an exciting action-adventure romance from start to finish! The story is very engaging from one plot twist to the next making for a non-stop page turning read! Yes, the book is part of a series but can stand alone as well without truly getting lost or unable to understand the story. The characters are fully fleshed out, developed and definitely ones that stay with you long after the book is finished. Euan’s sisters are just a hoot and hopefully Ms. Eliza Knight will give each of them stories. Bronwen is truly a strong capable feisty heroine. She isn’t scared to do something that she has no idea how to do but also isn’t afraid to learn or be open to suggestions. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of history or backstory of her life except a few brief glimpses and recollections. Euan is a wonderful hero. He oozes strength, caring and compassion but is never weak even when he falls in love. The fallout between him and his cousin also isn’t in too much detail but still there is enough to be satisfying. A fantastic love story that is well worth and a joy to read!

Euan Irvine has returned from the war having to deal with the horrors of war and having to take care of his sisters, now he has to find a bride and produce a child before his cousin or else the estate and the title will go to his cousin leaving his sisters destitute. Not used to society Euan decides to hire a governess to refresh himself in the ways of polite society.

Bronwen is in serious trouble, being chased and threatened by a man named Prince to repay her murdered parents gambling debts Bronwen flees to her cousin for help. Coming up with the idea to pose as a governess Bronwen heads to the country afraid of being found out she is a fraud.

Euan is quite taken with the new governess and has the feeling something is not quite right with her. Enjoying himself for the first time in a long time Euan finds the more time he spends with Bronwen the more he feels like his old self and happy and the more attracted he is to her. Bronwen is trying hard not to fall for Euan and knows he is above her in status but Bronwen can’t help but dream of a life she can never have.

Not only do Euan and Bronwen have to overcome their social differences Bronwen will have to learn to trust something she has not had in her life. Thrown into a world she knows nothing about there are a lot of challenges to face. You will love Euan and Bronwen’s story! I fell in love with it from the start! There are some twists and turns and definitely something I didn’t expect. You don’t want to miss this one! Definitely recommend!

Captain Euan Irvine is unrefined and is happy with his current position. Home from war after having to leave his 6 sisters, he does however, feel a bit guilty for having to leave them without parental guidance. When a letter arrives that his grandfather and father had a clause placed in the clan and he is in danger of losing his position to his greedy cousin, Euan must make an effort to find a bride.
Bronwen Holmes lost both of her parents to nefarious circumstances and has been hiding for over a year. When danger gets too close for comfort, Bronwen reaches out to her cousin for help.
Euan is in need of a woman to teach him the basics of society, in order to find a worthy bride and Bronwen is in need of a place to hide.
When two worlds collide. With the help of her cousin Bronwen poses as the governess and makes her way to the castle of Euan Irvine. It doesn't take long though for Euan to discover that she isn't at all what she claims and is determined to protect the feisty lass that has his blood boiling.
Fantastic read and I loved the characters. These 2 are perfect for one another. A bit of humor, a little intrigue and a wonderful love story, it's a must read.

Captain Euan Irvine of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, and he's been the Laird of Drum castle for the last fourteen years. He soon learns his grandfather has placed stipulations in his will where the grandson who produces an heir first will inherit his title and properties and become the Chief of Irving, Laird of Drum, Baron of Drum and Baron of Bonshaw. He and his cousin Hector set out to find brides. Ruggedly handsome Euan finds himself in desperate need of a wife and an heir. He has no problems seducing woman, but he decides to hire a governess to teach about wooing a bride. It soon becomes apparent Bronwen Holmes is by no means an appropriate etiquette governess. I love these two, their witty banter, instant attraction as their passions smolders with each encounter and how protective Euan becomes when he learns she’s in danger. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book as he finds the perfect bride for him to love.

Meant to be.

Euan is laird and the older brother to 6 beautiful sisters. A change to his grandfathers will puts Euan and his evil cousin against each other. Whichever one Marty’s for love and produces the first heir will win everything. In Euan’s determination to win and protect his sisters and their inheritance, he hires a governess for himself to learn the ways of society to win the heart of the perfect bride. Enter Bronwen. She is escaping her parents creditors and with the help of her cousin boards a ship to apply for the governess job for Euan. She has no experience. She is immediately taken with the closeness of Euan and his sisters and feels at home with them and soon falls for Euan. There are ups and downs and the story and I found it quite well done. I’m hopeful we will soon get to read the story of Malcolm to complete the story of the 4 main male friends.

Miss Bronwen Holmes is running for her life from people that her father owed money to.  She knows these men killed her parents and what they want from her is not going to happen if she can escape.

Captain Euan Irving has been looking after his six sisters since he was fourteen years old. Now everything could be taken away from them by a clause in his grandfather's will.

An exciting and action packed historical romance with fabulous characters.  Our heroine is a terrified young woman who has never had anyone but herself to rely on. Our hero is used to taking care of those he loves.  A wicked villain or some loving family members will decide what the outcome will be.

This is part of a series but a stand alone story within it.

Great fun.

Another Amazing Story

Eliza Knight’s ability to weave an enchanting romance with characters you easily fall in love with, just seems to get better with each book! I completely adored this book. I love watching previous charming rogues fall for the perfect lass — the bigger the rogue, the better the fall. For those of us who enjoy some steam with our romances this book won’t let you down. Scorching hot 🔥❤️ and I loved every minute!! You can totally read this book as a standalone story yet you will miss the first two equally amazing books of the series if you do.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series — I am hoping we get Malcolm’s story in the near future.

Very tender and touching

Bronwen has been to Hell and back, having never been blessed with the joy of having a tight knit loving family. She’s in deep troubles when she finds herself at Euan’s doorstep. I really liked seeing their relationship develop into something deep and meaningful. I was in tears very often because of all the turmoil surrounding Bronwen and how Euan and his sisters were committed to help her and fill her with love and happiness. A very warm lovely read!

Anytime you want

To go on a journey in Scotland with a Highlander hero and a strong but soft Scottish lass, Eliza Knight is the one to go to. Her stories never fail to capture you from the first and not let go until the last. Every single time

Got to love happy endings

This book was fantastic with tragedy to riches with love rather than just money. So beautifully written to include old friends from previous books and introduce new friends.

Cute story. Stopped reading when he convinced her to go to Edinburgh. Let's forget about his 6 sisters and how Prince murders innocents. Just couldn't continue
