4.5 Star review of Book’em Sadie (Iron Badges#1) by Danielle Norman
I was intrigued with these women after reading Badges Prequel which was an introduction to the series. This is Sadie Lazar’s story, a motorcycle deputy and Dr Ryan Montgomery story .
I really enjoyed how independent, feisty and determined Sadie is. She knows what she wants and goes after it, needing no man to help her. She is a strong woman and when she meets single dad and widower Ryan at the scene of a horrendous car accident, she feels the spark of attraction igniting.
Losing her mother as a young child, Sadie mentors children who have lost parents, something she is particularly good at since she knows from experience the pain and heartache, not to mention loneliness that it causes. Will Sadie be prepared to risk her heart for Ryan and his daughter Callie who is a feisty little girl whom I adored..
The pain and grief that Ryan has been through is palpable whilst reading and the worry he feels falling for someone in law enforcement brings it all to the surface again. Can he take a chance on love?
This story certainly had it’s emotional moments and brought out a range of feelings as I felt as though I was riding a roller coaster. I loved the relationships Sadie has with her friends and the support they offer was inspiring.
I am really looking forward to seeing where Danielle Norman takes this series.

My first book by this author and I enjoyed it.
I listened to this in audio and also enjoyed the narration.
Sadie is a deputy who rides a motorcycle, she's a strong independent woman which I like in a heroine, she's straight talking and knows what she wants in life.
Sadie first meets Doctor Ryan Montgomery following a car incident when he takes over from her with a dying passenger, despite the circumstances there's an instant attraction.
They meet again when Ryan's daughter goes missing. Ryan is a single widowed father with an interfering mother in law who starts to cause him endless problems especially when he starts to date Sadie, she sees Sadie as a threat to her daughter's memory
A good balance in the story, it's a page turner with drama, hotness and it all leads to a heartwarming hea
An enjoyable story, I will definitely read more in this series with these strong independent women.

I absolutely loved this book. Ryan and Sadie both have stressful jobs and meet when they least expect it. She is a motorcycle cop and he is a doctor. When she is the first to respond to an accident that occurs right in front of the hospital where he works, they meet and are drawn to each other. He is surprised, because his wife died four years prior and he hasn't been interested in anyone since.
When Sadie gets a call about a missing child, she rushes to look for her. When she finds her, she is relieved and can't believe the father is Ryan. His little girl is the sweetest and falls in love with Sadie almost immediately. As they navigate getting to know each other, they are both happy and are grateful that his daughter likes Sadie.
When his ex mother in law starts causing trouble, not bringing her granddaughter back on time, feeding her things she isn't supposed t0, etc., Ryan struggles with the relationship. Once she finds out that he has started dating Sadie, she gets worse and starts planting wrong information in his daughters mind. He tries to tolerate the blatant disregard for his rules, until DCFS gets called on him and Sadie.
The emotions that were thoughout this book were realistic. Ryan was grieving while taking care of his daughter. Sadie thought she was happy until she met Ryan. Unfortunately, when DCFS gets called, their happy bubble bursts and they might not be able to come back from it. How much effort they are willing to put in to their relationship will determine their future.
I understand that his ex in-law's were still grieving, but I got so frustrated and ticked off at some of the stuff they pulled. Even thinkng that you might not see your grandchild as much as you want doesn't give you the right to do some of the things his ex mother-in-law did. I did like how that part of the book was resolved.

Une romance légère et sexy que j'ai dévoré en une journée (enfin une nuit xD)
J'ai beaucoup aimé l'histoire entre Ryan le père célibataire et docteur sexy (exactement le genre de héros que j'adore =D) et Sadie la policière à moto au grand coeur (c'est rare qu'on ait des romances où le drama ne tourne pas autour de malentendus ou d'orgueil mal placé qui crée des disputes pour rien et j'apprécie !) et j'ai adoré tout le drama avec la belle-famille cinglée =)
Un seul bémol : la fille du docteur à laquelle je ne me suis pas particulièrement attaché ... Et j'aurais aimé plus de dramas et une fin un peu moins facile avec la belle-famille =)
Bref, une romance parfaite pour se distraire du quotidien ... J'ai hâte de lire les autres tomes avec les autres filles du groupe =D

I really liked the romance between Ryan the single father and sexy doctor (exactly the kind of hero I adore =D) and Sadie the motorcycle policewoman with a big heart (it's rare that we have romances where the drama is not about misunderstandings or misplaced pride that creates arguments for nothing and I appreciate it !) and I loved the whole drama with the crazy in-laws =)
Only one downside : the doctor's daughter to whom I didn't particularly get attached ... And I would have liked more dramas and a slightly less easy ending with the in-laws =)
In short, a perfect romance to distract from everyday life ... I can't wait to read the books with the other girls in the group =D

Book' em Sadie by Danielle Norman is book 1 in the Iron Badges series. We meet Sadie Lazar- a motorcycle deputy and Dr Ryan Montgomery- a doctor and widowed father- this is their story .
This is another sensational story with a strong woman and an alpha male. This has great humor, steamy romance, good friendship and that strong family bond. The plot is great and I don't want to give anything away so just know Sadie and Ryan will keep you guessing and glued from start to finish. I enjoyed the characters, the plot and the sweet chemistry. I can't wait for book 2 in this new series.

Sadie and Ryan meet have they have instant chemistry. She is a motor cop and he is an ER Doctor. He is also has a little girl. Can Ryan and Sadie be together when they both have baggage. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended

So I snagged this baby for $.99, folks. Just to have it go on sale for "free" a couple days later. What is up with that, btw? Wouldn't it be more fair/make more sense to offer it for free first. Then "snooze you lose" should kick in then list it for $.99. Either way, I'm a sucker for a romantic read featuring a sassy heroine cop and a hot doc all rolled up into one, so that's why I'm here now.
I really liked the instant attraction set up of this doc hero's heart going twitter patter upon meeting the heroine. I thought it was sweet he could come across a little shy/bashful when approaching her. Make no mistake though, behind closed doors he was a real tiger.
I haven't read any books of the other series that obviously leak into this one sub-character wise. So at times I felt a little bit like a stranger walking around. among them. At times I even felt like some events were thrown in just to introduce some characters that didn't so much have a reason to be in this book to begin with. I just had to roll with it and try to keep up with who was with who, etc.
There were a few things that I noticed that kind of seemed odd, mostly regarding the hero's kid's antics. But again, what's a gal supposed to do but flow with it, right? Between you and me, I didn't get the title name at all. She didn't make a lot of arrests, folks.
Overall, I liked the fact it took this particular leading lady love to pull the hero out of his lifeless love life and try loving again. Yeah, he did truly love his deceased wife and will never forget her, and the heroine seemed to accept it without question. At least his comments regarding her were mostly with the relatives on her side of the family. It felt like he was starting anew with the heroine. The child, of course, was a constant link/reminder, but she also was looking to move on with the heroine as a new mommy figure.

This is my first ever Danielle Norman book. I had high hopes, after browsing through other readers' reviews, but, honestly? Book'em Sadie was a bit of a let down for me. I know! I know! I'm in the minority here. Please, no rotten tomatoes! But, listen, the Lifetime-movie-esque drama factor involving an unrealistic number of automobile accidents where people died in a span of less than 500 e-book pages was too much. The overused story arc (i.e., hero's first wife dies in a auto accident involving a DUI; hero and heroine meet while they both worked at a vehicular crash incident; hero's evil MIL and SIL almost died in a multiple car crash incident) could've been reduced, especially in such a short story. Also, the hero's 6yo daughter kept running away. First, to get away from her paternal grandmother who forces her to wear dresses and skirts in school. [Rolling my eyes at this 1st world problem.] Second, to find her heroine, Sadie, after her evil maternal grandmother planted terrible ideas about Sadie in her head. For a 21st century 6yo, she sure as hell is pretty naive.... or her grandparents are complete and utter nuts.
Speaking of nuts, the evil female in-laws are just OTT. After their brush with death, however, mother-in-law, Louise, and sister-in-law, Sonya, rapidly changed their tunes and attitudes. Firstly, that they almost died in yet another car crash, where Sadie happened to be their savior, is boring. Ryan, the book hero, should've moved away with his daughter after experiencing that first year of constant harassment from them. Secondly, that the evil in-laws quickly adapted to loving Sadie after siccing Child Services on her and on the book hero, is completely unbelievable. Louise seriously needs a "come to Jesus" moment.
I'm seriously regretting buying the entire series at once, but WTH, I'll move on.

If you love sarcasm, crass remarks and dirty Luther females, this book is for you!!
Hands down, this author has the most hysterical, crass, and smart eleck characters I have ever read. She has this world created of women that are total bad**ses and they don’t let let anyone run over them. She creates a world of humor, close friendships, and straight up family til the end. I laugh so much when reading these books because all of the outlandish remarks and situations she creates. This author is one I highly recommend to those who enjoy some romcom with hilariousness and sarcastic bitch**. Her storylines are always spot on, her characters are always strong and don’t take any crap, and friends are always there no matter what. I absolutely love all of her books and how she incorporates her past characters into her most recent books. Amazing job Danielle Norman!!

Book 'em Sadie includes all the elements we love in Danielle's books!
This first book in the Iron Badges series has it all: in the achingly beautiful prolouge we learn of the tragedies that have led to both Sadie and Ryan's strengths and vulnerabilities and the challenge that threatens their romance is well developed and believable as they struggle for their HEA. Ryan's daughter Callie is another of Danielle's great kid characters. (Her favorite movie is GI Jane, and she wants to start a ROTC program at her grade school) .
The story has just the right amount of steam, and it wouldn't be a Danielle Norman book without the kick ass group of girlfriends, and appearances by some of our favorite supporting characters from the Iron Orchids series. And of course, it has Danielle's trademark not just laugh out loud but spit out your drink humor. This is a stand alone story, but read the Badges Prequel first to get acquainted with everyone. If you haven't read her other series (Iron Orchids, Iron Horse, Iron Ladies), you'll want to after reading this book. I'm looking forward to the rest of the Badges series!

Nobody writes strong heroines like Danielle Norman. When you know her Iron Orchids series, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I have been so excited to read this book ever since I read the ‘Badges Prequel’ book. Danielle Norman always has the best character development. She writes about real women, who are strong, independent, and badass.
Sadie is one of few women who are on the motorcycle team of the Orange County police department. Ryan is an ER doctor who meets Sadie through their jobs. Their story is unique and interesting. They both have struggles to overcome and through being with each other are able to find the strength to overcome them. I absolutely love how Danielle wrote about the role of a stepparent in this book. There are some really amazing ones, who step up and fill the precarious role amazingly well.
I also love that she included Coco, Ringo, and Bananas and was able to include her other characters from the Iron Orchids realm.

There was all sorts of things to like in this one. I loved Callie, loved that she seemed to march to the beat of her own drummer and that her dad didn't stiffle her. Loved that Sadie got Callie right away. Loved that Ryan was smitten with Sadie from the start and sought her out. It helped later when they met again. Dates between Sadie and Ryan were cute because often Callie was there. What was awful was Ryan's in-laws, the MIL especailly. She often went to far, leading Ryan to have to be the bad guy. Towards the end she went so far I feared there was no going back. It's a good thing that Sadie was a good person and did her job, that seemed to change everything and give perspective to everyone that needed it.
The last scene in the book had me laughing, it was so on spot for Sadie.

I really enjoyed this book. Could hardly put it down to even attempt to do anything today. I mean who doesn't love some kick-a$$ women??
I love Sadie and Ryan. They both have one thing in common that no one wants, having lost someone that they love. How it has effected them and their lives is kind of the backbone of the story in my opinion. How they are able to come together and start a life together is great. There were times I felt that the story was a little rushed but I loved the plot and the characters so much it was just a little blip that I can over look. I would definitely recommend this book and I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out. If you like strong women, like to laugh and love a nice HEA this is a good book to add to your TBR.

Laughed Out Loud a Few Times
Let me start off by saying this is a new to me author. I WON this book from said author. Thank you!) Honestly, I’m not sure I would have heard of this book otherwise.

She takes an Uber all by herself.
Has a BOLO out for her twice.

I loved this story!!!! Not only for the great characters, but for the message Sadie breathes and lives about stepmothers.
Sadie is such an amazing woman, independent, dedicated and good at her job. Her passion tho is in helping children and that's way she volunteers.
Ryan is a single parent, a busy doctor, and no time for a woman like Sadie..but fate and Cassie, Ryan's daughter, make sure that the two meet again and again.
I loved the story, the pace and the message.
Can't wait to read more about these women.

YES!!!
I ADORE books with strong heroines. Sadie has just joined the list of my favorite heroines of all time. Ryan was also no pushover. I ADORED his dedication to his daughter, Callie's, who was absolutely adorable. I enjoyed everything about this story and look forward to more in this series as well as previous stories this author has written.

I give this book a 3.5. I liked both characters and I loved Callie. I didn't like Louise or Sonya, mainly because I think that angle of the story was a little much. Louise was ridiculous and all of the drama that came with her was waay over the top. I get that Ryan was trying to be nice but it should not have gotten as far it did. Heat level was 🔥🔥.

This was a great start to a new series. I caught myself laughing out loud more than once, and the steamy parts were extra steamy. I think I fell in love with Callie. The characters are well written and relatable, their banter back and forth is perfectly executed. I cannot wait for the next one!

Oh my goodness! Sadie and Ryan were absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed everything with these two. I loved how Sadie helped Ryan with his little girl and that it worked for all of them! So fun seeing them together! The ending was really sweet! So happy they all got what the deserved in the end. 💙

Loved this book! It was full of heart, feels, laughter and even tears. Thoroughly enjoyed each emotion. Sadie is motor cycle deputy and meets Ryan a Dr at the hospital when on call. Fate plays her hand and they meet again soon after. There is an instant attraction between them both but Ryan, is a single dad, doing his best to juggle, working and caring for his daughter so isn’t sure how to date. Sadie is an independent woman with awesome friends! When they’re together you can’t help but laugh out loud.

Not a fan
This book is part of an interconnected world and has callbacks out the wahzoo. I liked the main characters well enough that I finished the book. But there's no depth in their relationship. The villains aren't left as villains and everything is wrapped up in a pretty bow at the end. Basically it has everything about modern writing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I liked the detailed writing when it came to their jobs and the world.

A fast, entertaining read
I’d read and enjoyed a couple of the author’s Iron Orchid series so when I saw this first book of a new spin-off series, I was excited to get a chance to read it. While there are some fairly brief mentions of characters from the earlier series (both the Orchids and the Iron Ladies), you don’t need to have read any of the earlier books to enjoy this. I would say having that background would add a little more to your experience here, though.
When the author managed to break my heart for both Sadie and Ryan in the span of the first few pages, I was surprised as I remembered a lot of humor in the previous books I‘d read, but the angst was relatively brief and used to set up the rest of the story. I love when authors give their characters something in common as it adds a lot to the believability factor for me, so that both Sadie and Ryan have suffered a loss as they did not only gives them a way to connect, but also sets the stage for Sadie’s ability to connect with Ryan’s daughter, Callie, in a realistic way.
Don’t worry though, the laughs I expected soon appeared—Wasabi! The visual image of a three pound poodle with a Fu Manchu beard and a Mohawk not only cracked me up, I could completely relate to keeping chairs pushed in under the table to keep a little rat dog off of it, lol. I loved Ryan and Callie as well as Sadie and her friends from the sheriff’s department. I’ve read quite a few stories where the main male character is a first responder, but not many with the female, so Sadie as a motorcycle deputy was a great hook. With Ryan as a doctor, the two had something else in common: sharing the knowledge of what it’s like to cope with a job that isn’t always 9-5, where you see both best and worst of humanity, and where you literally have the lives of other people in your hands.
Besides the dog and Callie, I have already mentioned Sadie’s friends. These are great secondary characters, as I’d expect for the beginning of a new series, and the author already has me looking forward to getting their stories. There were a couple love to hate characters, as well, lol.
There were a few things that kept this from being a full five stars for me, and the theme is missed opportunities for more depth from the characters. I expected Ryan to have issues with Sadie’s job putting her at risk (especially considering his wife’s death), and while there is a scene where it’s briefly touched on, I never got any sense Ryan ever dealt with those extremely reasonable fears. I also expected Ryan to have some qualms about starting things up with Sadie, say, maybe a little guilt at finding someone new or worry about Callie getting attached too quickly, but he didn’t have either. Then near the end, some attitudes changed so completely and so quickly, when I just thought they needed a little more time to get there considering the circumstances.
At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a fast, entertaining read with lots of laugh, a bit of heat, and lots of great characters that will have you looking forward to the next stories in the series, this is your book. 4 stars

Four years have passed since Dr. Ryan Montgomery's wife died, after a car accident. She was brought through the, ER at the hospital they both worked at. And when he turns, to start the life-saving procedure, it turns out to be, his wife. It freezes him, to the floor. Good thing more than one doctor responds, to the type of trauma. With the multiple doctors responding, they were able, to take over. His world spins, out of control.
It only got worse when his wife's parents arrived, and his mother-in-law who was always so, kind tears him a new one. Because he allowed his wife, and her daughter, to continue her career, as a doctor. At that moment, he believes her. He, however, can’t feed into her BS because he needs, to explain and be strong for his daughter. She is a warrior, and champion, all things that show women in strength, and power.
She, however, shows this on a day she is distributed over her backpack being taken home by a friend by mistake. The reason is, her dad's mom who is her sitter, makes her wear dresses. Well, she gets teased at school for it, because she can't do a lot of activities, because of it. So, she now brings shorts, and a top in her backpack, changes at school, and before school, she goes, to meet grandma, she changes back into her dress. See how the missing backpack, poses a problem?
So, she doesn't want, to hurt her grandmother’s feelings so, she runs away. She didn't know what else, to do. Sadie finds her in the candy section, of the 7-11. When they start, to talk she figures out, Callie doesn't feel heard. She is not a dress girl, and it is stifling her. Her role model is GI Jane. And when she does talk, to her dad like Deputy Sadie said to, she finds out her mommy didn't like, to wear dresses either. Making, Callie very happy, and when her daddy said, they would go shopping on the weekend, she was relieved.
What was even better, was when she heard him talk, to her grandma. And, he let her know that she needed, to be her. Her grandma said, yes. He also, told her he would be taking her, and, Sadie shopping. She was beside herself. Sadie helped her find, her very own style. A little GI Jane-ish style, and Sadie-ish style, too. You never saw a happier girl. Which only scared, Ryan’s ex-mother-in-law. Then, all hell started breaking loose. Callie kept talking about, Sadie, and it made it even worse. She was gunning for, Ryan, and, Sadie. Wanting to take custody of Callie.
What a great storyline. Coco was back and had a small but important role. Loved it. Seeing how we like to discount people who are different from the norm. The subject of blended families is spot on in a lot of homes where the children become pawns in a terrible game of war.

Ryan is a single dad to his gorgeous daughter Callie, he's a man who hasn't even looked at another woman since he became a widower four years earlier. This man is oh so sexy ... and would make any woman's heart beat increase rapidly.
Sadie is called into a situation regarding a missing child, once found Sadie is surprised that Ryan is the little girl's father. Sadie and Ryan have both suffered in their pasts, are they both willing to reopen their hearts and risk being hurt once again? Emotions will become frayed, loyalties tested, family interference will bring struggles ... Can Sadie, Ryan and Callie survive through it all?
A wonderful story that had my heart reaching out to Sadie and Ryan. Definitely a recommended read.
