Contains the full Volume 1 and 2! "O, Hero!" With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma finds himself summoned to another world and his adventure in administration begins! Upon presenting a plan to strengthen his new land economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself stuck with the top job! What's more, he's betrothed to the outgoing king's daughter?! In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma must summon the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. And even when he does manage to catch a break, a day off with his staff provides anything rebelling retainers, natural disasters, and the threat of war all await. Can Souma keep up without succumbing to the stress?
Kazuya Souma is isekai'd into the kindom of Elfrieden as The Hero™ and instead of running off to defeat The Demon Lord™, he starts trying to fix all the other problems the kingdom is facing and is so adept and knowledgeable, that the King abdicates the throne and engages Kazuya to the princess.
The premise is decent... but the subject matter is dry... and the execution of the plot in manga form feels less like reading "Kazuya's Adventures in Elfrieden" and more like "Kazuya is Super Smart and Nice and Knows Exactly How to Fix a Dying Kingdom so He Gets All the Bitches With Big Boobs That Won't Fit In Their Dresses" (Look, I got nothing against big boobs or harem series, but when the entire top of the chest is exposed for no reason other than fanservice, I hate it, especially when it's only on important female characters. If you're going to sexy the shes, sexy the hes and theys too) There's also no sense of time in this book. Kazuya shows up and in the time of what feels like a few days, has implemented a sewer system, an aqueduct, and is building an entirely new city. You don't see this stuff happening. It just suddenly is and we're hearing about it after. A lot of what happens is like this. It's a manga! "Show, don't tell" should be easy!
What should feel like a refreshing new angle on isekai, feels more like a self-insert text book with fanservice.
TLDR; Good premise, poor execution, too much unnecessary cleavage.
Best Seinen Isekai Id read in a long time. Storyline is around a civil engineering student who gets summoned by kingdom in a fantasy world to save them from a crisis; said hero ends up making a far greater impact than they'd imagined by creating solutions for the kingdom's financial problems, public works problems, socioeconomic issues, and various other governance related problems.
Id found how the main character calls references from contemporary authors as explanations for his political decisions especially interesting; from the likes of lads such as Cao Cao, Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, Kaynes, and Kahneman to name a few.
The world and characters evolve with the plot; the smallest actions have consequences (good/bad) that are explored as the story goes on.
I enjoyed it. Has a bit less repetition than the anime. Though the boobs are much more ridiculous looking. Also I still wonder if Albert abdicated how come he still keeps wearing a crown?
