When Maggie Vine left her small town Alabama home, she never thought she would return. Fifteen years later, Maggie finds herself driving back towards the town that she’s missed, and the people she abandoned.
Rusty Jefferson had two goals in life—to be the best damn cattle rancher in the country, and to marry his childhood sweetheart—until she left him behind. Broken hearted, the sweet boy everyone loved became hard and cold; closed off to the world, refusing to be hurt that way ever again.
Determined to rebuild the life she lost, Maggie sets about trying to build bridges and heal old wounds, but some secrets just refuse to stay buried. Unfortunately, these are usually the ones that destroy lives.
Can Maggie get back what she once had? Can Rusty ever forgive her betrayal? There’s only one place she can find out, the place she calls Home.
I’m Cas... a mother, a wife, and a writer, amongst many other things. I’m from Birmingham, England but now live in South Derbyshire with my family. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember but I first published a book in 2012, and my author journey has been a hell of a rollercoaster since then. I write because I love to write, but also because I love to read. I adore the way a book can take a reader away from reality for a while, and I want to be in the driving seat... I hope you’ll come along on a journey with me soon.

I picked out this book out of a blue book. Somebody had randomly commented I should read this book. I saw and thought ok, yeah, I will read it. I was in midst of several books at that time. This reminds I have to go and thank her for recommending this. To be honest, I wouldn't have picked this book if she wouldn't have recommended it. Because I don't read cowboy stories much. It's very rare if I read it. But I don't know what happened. I picked it up and started reading and couldn't put it down. Finished it in one day. I was in a serious readers block and I was only picking books of already known authors to break me out of it. I never thought a new Author would break me out of it .I haven't read Cassandra's earlier books. I intend to change to that. I'm going to read all. I loved this book so much. The pain, the emotions, heartbreak, relationships. So well developed. I devoured each and every word of Maggie and Rusty and Daniel!!
Read it if you love second chance, cowboy romance!
The h got pregnant by the H young Left town without telling him about the pregnancy Gave the baby up for adoption , without telling him Returns years later, he convinced her to help him see their son She wants him to lie about the reason for the child being put up for adoption
Secret baby is a trope that pisses me off when there's no good reason for the secret! Tell that damn man about his child 🙄
I listened to the audiobook narration of Home and it was amazing! Wonderful voice actor!
First, I loved that this book was set in Alabama. That is where I am from and I rarely get to read a book in the south that isn't full of overt stereotypes. With Lewis being from the UK, I was surprised by how well she captured that small, southern home town feeling.
The main characters, Maggie and Rusty, were easy to connect with and fall in love with. The tension and attraction between the two was everything I look for in a second chance romance.
There was also more than just the romance between Maggie and Rusty that kept me tuned in. Of course, I adored their story and wanted to know how it ended, but Lewis did an amazing job with her side characters. There was substance to this book that I haven't gotten out of many romance books.
It was sweet, heartbreaking, spicy, made me cry, and made my heart do somersaults. I absolutely loved it and I can't recommend it enough.
Well I think this book evoked every single emotion going out of me! It definitely was an emotional roller coaster all the way through to the end! I cried, I laughed, I got angry, I was happy, I was sad.
I was firmly team Maggie up until she told Rusty her secret and then I was on team Rusty. Along with Rusty I didn't think I would ever forgive Maggie for what she had done. At all. I was right there with him. But with time, patience and a little shove from Liz things start to get back on track. You could feel the love that they both had for each other even though Rusty really wanted to hate Maggie, and he did try for a while but when you have met your soul mate those feelings can't just be switched off.
It was actually a refreshing change that it was the female that had done something wrong and was painted to be the bad guy so she had to earn forgiveness from not just Rusty but the whole town.
This book has been beautifully written and I love all the characters. It is so raw, real and emotional. I especially cried when Liz died and then left the letter for Maggie 😭😭 My eyeballs don't sweat that often when reading a book but at those moments they certainly did! 😢
Honestly, this book ripped my heart out and then put it back together piece by piece. If you want an emotional read then this is definitely it!
An amazing start to a series Cass! ❤️ ❤️ I can't wait to read Daisy's story next!

This book should come with the same warnings a rollercoaster has. Buckle up, you’re about to be on an emotional rollercoaster you can’t, and won’t want to, get off of. This book is sooo detailed, it follows the story of Maggie and Rusty. True love that blossomed young and hit every road block possible. Lewis sets out to break your heart in this, don’t believe her if she claims otherwise. And she WILL, then she will built you back up JUST TO DO IT AGAIN. I finished this book in two nights because I wasn’t satisfied not reaching the end and wondering if these two— after everything— could make it work. If you want a more complex small-town romance that brings in all the feels, this is the book for you!
Loved, loved, loved this book ! It's a page turner from the first page and I was quite annoyed at having to put it down to go to bed ha ha. The story starts as a mystery with Maggie leaving her home town Alabama, then returning 15 years later where the truth unfolds. She meets her childhood sweetheart whom she left behind, but broken hearted after Maggie left can he forgive her ?
There is laughter and tears throughout the book and you easily fall in love with all the characters. Cassandra P. Lewis is an amazing author and hopefully there is a second book in the making...... One of the authors best and certainly one of my favourites.
Maggie comes back to her hometown after a 14-year absence with no contact. But her secret may destroy the relationships she's trying to rebuild. Just when Maggie and Rusty figure out how to be cordial to each other and work together, life throws them yet another curveball. This intense book has all the feels - a small town, second chance romance between two people fighting their love. The story is incredible, well written, and flows nicely. I laughed and cried, and my heart ached for all that they had to go through. Their friends are incredible and supportive, and I'd love to see their stories as well. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cassandra does it again! This book killed me..... I cried, I laughed, I chuckled, I cried so more and then I fell in love with Home. Cassandra has a way of pulling you into her books, making you live the charecters life, feel like they feel and then want to make you turn back to page 1 once it's all over!
An emotional rollercoaster of a read and I loved every single moment!! Can not wait to see what this author throws at us next, please done make us wait too long..... please!
I loved this book so much! The love angst heartache that went into it gave me all of the feels and I could not get enough!! Rusty and Maggie and their world sucks you in. Why do I suddenly want a ranch and a cowboy? I live in Dublin and prob couldn't hack a day on a farm but he'll I want a Rusty! Awesome book I would definitely read more from this author.
The book is a good, and enjoyable emotional roller coaster ride second chance romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

I've not been able to sit and read a book and enjoy it for a while. However, Home was an exceptional story. The story hooked me in from the opening pages, the characters were engaging, and I was filled with so much emotion as I digested the plot. I really did enjoy it.

Home: A Country Romance By: Cassandra P. Lewis Narrated by: Amy Jo Steele
This is a beautiful romance, a second chance to love and live again. Cassandra P. Lewis is a gifted author, I enjoyed her writing style, the storylines she created are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to. I adored both lead characters, Maggie Vine and Rusty Jefferson, childhood friends who, in their teenage years took their relationship a step further and fell in love. Their relationship came to an abrupt end when Maggie and her family moved away, no explanation not further contact. Her leaving did not just break his heart, it broke him too. Maggie had her reason for more moving, thinking she was doing the right thing but it took her 15 years to realize it may not have been the right thing, she was never really happy since leaving her life and friends in that small town. She finds her way back there, to make mends and to possibly get back what she gave up, happiness, love, friendship and that feeling of being home again. But nothing is that simple and not all are forgiving and accepting her with open arms. Rusty finally starts to warm up to the idea of her being back but he does not think he can trust her to not break his heart again and when she reveals why she left she breaks him again. I was really rooting for these two, hoping they would put aside their differences and make it work. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, many emotional and heartfelt moments, so twists and turns in life, fate has a funny way of working things out. There are some great secondary and support characters in this book too, loved Jason and Daisy, I was happy to see they got an HEA too. Cassandra P. Lewis, thank you for this wonderful story and the emotional rollercoaster ride, I hope to see more of your work on Audible soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Amy Jo Steele is a wonderful narrator and voice artist. She did a fantastic job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personalty. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she captures the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen🎧
Cas told me about her series when I was looking for cowboy romance books.
This book hit me right in the feels.
Firstly **TRIGGER WARNING** Death of a friend/family member, this was the first book with a death in it since loosing my dad last year, it wad beautifully written, just enough information and scene to it, the way Cas wrote this sad scene was amazing!
I can honestly say I loved this book.
Two childhood sweethearts, torn a part for many years before Maggie ran back home to her old life..
Maggie had a secret that only her and her parents knew of, this secret was the reason they upped their life and left the town they called home..
When Maggie came back to her old home town, she reconnected with her old friends and her old love, things started to get on track with Maggie and Rusty, the conversation about her being on the pill is the conversation which ruined it all..
Maggie had gotten pregnant on her first time of having unprotected sex, she wanted to leave her home town so Rusty didn't give everything up, which she knew he would. She left her home town, without a goodbye, she didn't tell her friends or Rusty she was pregnant.
As she lays on the bed at an abortion clinic she soon realised that it would be better to put their son up for adoption. So this was what she did, she put her son up for adoption.
After telling Rusty the truth he wanted to hate her, he needed to hate her, but he couldn't, they contacted the adoption agency and they was faced with the words 'no' from their sons adoptive mother.
Their son Daniel turned up and introduced himself to Maggie, who then contacted Rusty, it was an agreement he would be there for their son and coparent with Maggie.
Their connection bond and a little push from Liz, Daniels adoptive mother, things started to come on track for Rusty and Maggie.
Such a cute little cowboy romance novel! Cannot wait to read the rest in the series.

This book hit all of the emotions pay as an adoptee myself, I found myself relating to the main character of knowing that you were adopted, but being fully content with the family who is raised you. Then going through the teenage emotions of love, fear, joy. She really sympathizing with the main character as she goes through, trying to figure out what is right at such a young age and dealing with those consequences throughout her life.
Then I found myself relating to the adoptive mom and putting myself in her shoes, knowing how my parents felt being the adopted parents, but then relating to the boy as he finds out that his birth family actually wants to meet him and struggling with how to go about that without having to hurt his actual mom‘s feelings, but taking into consideration what he wants as a 14-year-old.
I found myself crying very hard portion of this. I understand everybody’s feelings and having to work through some of these struggles in the love that radiates from all of these characters and the supports that is giving along with the brutal honesty that so many people don’t talk about in situations because they’re so afraid of hurting others feelings, and not realizing that sometimes having those tough conversations and being brutally honest is actually the way to go.
This book really hit every single emotion where you are laughing and you are crying your eyes out and you feel your heartbreak, but then you feel it being mended at the same time. As an adoptee, a mom and a stepmom. I really felt myself in a lot of of these characters. My stepdaughter lost her mom at the age of 10 and it has been a brutal battle between her and I that we constantly fight and I see in the characters between the birth mother and the biological son the struggles of having to navigate through that change and finding their way.
This is probably one of the best books. I have read in a long time and one that really spoke to my heart. I highly highly recommend this book.
From the moment I started the book I was able to step into Maggie’s shoes and share her journey to re find her ‘home’. It was heartbreaking, exciting and full of love all at once.
The country atmosphere was portrayed perfectly and I could visualise the Alabama setting and it’s characters throughout.
Maggie’s emotional and physical relationship with Rusty was particularly exhilarating and I waited in anticipation each time they met for where they would leave each other.
Home is a true romance that fulfils all of the readers expectations. I loved it.
I went into this thinking it was going to be a nice, easy read. Sometimes I like to read romance books as a pallet cleanser for the heavier books I read. When I just want something delightful and no stress… welp, I am happy to be disappointed.
This book was heavier than I thought a second chance romance would be. I was crying on the bus. Maggie may have made some bad decisions, but she had my whole heart and Rusty… oh man.
Woooowww!!! I went into this book expecting a fast past light romance novel (which i love) but this book has all the feels!!! It is a slow burn and very intence story which i can only highly recommend.
This was an exceptionally emotional book from start to finish. The character and plot development was very well done. Some of the flashback scenes could have probably been glossed over rather than detailed, but that does not detract from the beauty of the story. This is definitely a recommended read for fans of slow burn and/or second chance romance.
This story evoked all.of.the.feels!! Maggie is back in her small Alabama town after 14 years...the hometown feom which she disappeared without a word to her friends, including the live of her life. Maggie needs to reveal secrets and make things right, but will that be possible? This story will wring you dry of tears! The ending is worth all the feels! Narrator was excellent...perfect fit for these characters. Definitely recommend a read-listen. I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
