All I want for my birthday is to find my magic and maybe get my first kiss. But that's pretty hard to do when rumors fly around that my girly bits are cursed.
I've lived among witches ever since my mother dropped me off. That was the last I ever saw of her. I've always felt like I was looking in and never quite belonged. For most of my life, my aunt cared for me, raised me, and hid me from the world. My world.
Until she can't anymore.
My mates have found me. All three of them.
If these wolf shifters claim that I am theirs, that can only mean one thing--I'm not a witch, I'm a wolf shifter too.
How could my aunt have hidden this from me? How can I go from off limits with a V-Card that's never been punched, to being handed over to not just one, but three wolves?
For once, I feel like I belong. Leaving my old life behind seems like a small price to pay for an eternity of happiness.
Michelle writes alongside keeping her two tiny children, three dogs, three chickens, and husband alive. Slowly as her sanity teeters on the edge, she writes novels to escape every day.
Currently, she dreams up new worlds in Denver, Colorado, although she still embraces her roots from Chicago. Writing is a part of her, just as coffee and chocolate are her life-blood. In a world that is far too serious for its own good, she writes an escape.
The guys are fine, Drake’s a hot head with an attitude problem, Noah is the resident calm sweetheart and Aiden is your joker. Fiona has been kept hidden and clueless about herself and her future. All she knows is that she sucks at magic and is betrothed. The reason this only got 3 stars is because of the sheltered virgin, but the guy(s) can sleep around and do as they please trope. It’s like being stuck in Victorian England, but with wolf shifters. Her aunt basically put a chastity spell on her and a guy she grew up with liked her, but because he couldn’t have her he went around tell everyone she was cursed and sex would take their power and give it to her. So 3 stars because of that, some people like it more, just not my thing. The ending sets up book 2 nicely and gets away from the virginal bride trope.

Although I can understand some ppls povs on the aunt's attitude, at the same time, I thinking it was a cute.book. I am interested in seeing what happens next.
So she's lied to her whole life, feels alone, like she doesn't belong, can't date ever and is a Virgin and for the first time ever is hearing her wolf on her birthday. Then her mates come- SURPRISE! But let's party like it's no big deal your whole life is now turned upside down. then BAM she's super horney and needs a jump. Ok let's be real. First she knows NOTHING about how they live, or the rules, right or wrongs of the wolf world, second she hasn't had a choice AT ALL in the important things. Went to witch school instead of wolf and now she just gets shoved out and sent with the wolves.... Drake is a jerk who doesn't want to understand, Aiden thinks he is funny and only Noah was the one that had any clue but wait! None of that matters because let's have sex. I DNF at 66 % I tried I did.... Maybe if she didn't jump on the D train. Or they rush to finger the clueless wonder and take a few days to actually explain the wolf world, what was expected of her and just let her settle some in the house... Like normal. What happened to yes kissing, talking, some pretty petting as you get settled... She's like confused, unsure for ONE DAY. Oh so the wolf that sometimes speaks is all that. Nope. I would have respected her and them more. If they at least explained wolf everything and helped her with her wolf. I've read TONS of PNR and this was just warp speed one minute I'm thinking this and that but oh man they are so hot so it's ok my world imploded on itself and everything I knew is a lie... WTH...smh.
This author has really outdone herself with this series starter! The characters were fantastic! I love how the guys each had their own personalities and methods to woo their mate, and Fiona went from a lost, confused girl into a strong woman. I especially enjoyed Aunt Bea, I can only hope that we get to learn more about her story and her connection to the wolves before the end of the series. The author gave us a solid foundation for the alpha pairing by the end, and threw an exciting hook into the next book. This book is a fast-paced read that has left me salivating for the next book. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long!
I really enjoyed reading this book, and getting to know the characters as the storyline starts to come to light. With Fiona we get to see her find things out about herself and why her aunt never let her date. When Drake, Aiden and Noah show up at her aunts shop on her birthday things start to come out. With several twists we see the book come to a steamy ending to then end on a slight cliffhanger. Totally can't wait for the next book.
This was a great first book in the series. I enjoyed it greatly, finding it to catch my attention and holding it. There was a lot going on in this book leaving me with more questions than answers, but knowing this was the first in the series and the second book will continue where this one left off pretty much, makes me eager to read the next in the series. It involved multiple points of view, which is nice getting a view from each of the characters. I did find the main female character to be rather whiny and annoying at times, unable to focus and wishy washy on what she wanted with the guys; then randomly switches gears from anti to pro, so that was a bit bothersome at times. It reminded me of arguing with a toddler. The males in the harem all were individual and had their own personalities; but they could have handled the situation better.
Overall I give this a four out of five. The story was great but left enough questions for the reader to be impatient to read the sequel when it comes out.

I really enjoyed the way this started, growing up the odd one out seemed to be part of her life. And just when she thinks it's all going to start coming in like the rest around her it changes. But what a change, three for the price of one. Suddenly she understands certain things, but other things are just out of her reach as magic with held them from her for most of her life. But she manages to find her own magic in her own pack with her own three guys. I like the way she starts to meet her own wolf, that she was there the whole time, just quietly sitting in the background. But the reasoning behind her being hidden that way makes me hope there will be a number 2 to this book. I'm really curious to know more.

Fiona finds her future is changing with the arrival of three wolf shifters. Fiona remembers little from the time before she came to live with her Aunt Bea and the community of witches but she seems to be the only non-magic user there. Things have started to change as her birthday approaches and she now hears a voice in her head plus a rumor that her female parts are cursed has kept away any suitors. The arrival of three wolf shifters her life is set for drastically change and reveals that her aunt has been using magic to keep her hidden from those who her parents knew would kill her if she was found.

Michelle Ziegler is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book. It’s a slow burn why choose romance.
Fiona grew up thinking she was a witch whose powers have yet to manifest. On her 22nd birthday she finds out everything she thought she knew about her life is a lie.
Drake, Aiden, and Noah are wolf shifters and have been trying to find their fated mate for years, the fate of their pack depends on it. When they catch a scent that takes them to a nearby coven, they can’t believe they’ve found her. It’s not going to be easy, as Fiona knows nothing about shifters and enemies are closing in. Can they show Fiona what it means to be theirs in time to save their pack...we won’t know until the next book comes out!!

Fiona grew up thinking that she was a failed witch. Her mother died when Fiona was very young leaving her with her best friend Beatrice. Her aunt Beatrice has hidden a lot of secrets about Fiona's past and has made strange rules for Fiona. She isn't supposed to date or even kiss a man. It is the day of her 22nd birthday and Fiona is hearing a strange voice in her head. She cut herself on glass and it healed in just a couple of minutes. Then three hot and sexy guys walk into her Aunt's store and the strange inner voice said mates. The three men are werewolves and they have been searching for their fated mate for years. They tell he that she is their fated mate and that she too is a wolf shifter like them. Fiona is very confused since she had been raised as a witch. However she is willing to give them a chance.
Drake, Aiden and Noah have been linked for years. They are the alphas of a strong wolf pack who often have their mates chosen by fate. Their female alpha will be strong and powerful but first they need to find her. They have been searching for years until suddenly one morning they scent her. Since their mate is supposed to be a shifter, they are surprised that the scent leads them into witch territory. They are thrilled to have found Fiona but they are taken aback when she has no clue who or what she really is. They will have to teach her to release her wolf. Can they convince her that their feelings are real?

First Comes Wolves: Fated Mates Wolf Shifter Romance is the first book in the Howling For Her series.
This is a fantastic start to this new series of shifter romances. This story has suspense, drama, danger, magic, and steamy romance. The characters are interesting, strong, and likable. I loved this book and can't wait to read more in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
First book in the series. I’m really liking this series. Things start off as somewhat of a mystery but soon danger is knocking on the door. The main character of Fiona is sweet but she so wants answers. The three wolves are definitely going to make her life interesting. And what is in the box her aunt gave her? Can’t wait for the next book to find out what Fate has in store for her.
The first book in the Howling For Her series a great start to this series. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
First Comes Wolves by Michelle Ziegler is a fated mates wolf shifter romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett, Jay Alder, Tom Haire, Tim Paige, and Jason Lasky. This is the first book in the Howling For Her series.
This is the first book of Michelle's that I have read and it won't be my last. I am loving the instant connection between Fiona and her fated mates Aiden, Noah, and Drake. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of view throughout the book.
The book left me with a lot of questions so I can't wait to jump into the next book Second Comes Fate.
Sarah, Jay, Tom, Tim, and Jason did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like fated mates, wolf shifters, and reverse harem romances.
Lots of mystery, magic, steam and alpha's to keep a girl curious, safe, and protected they hope....Fiona's hoping to learn about everything in her entire life that has been shrouded in fog...can her guys keep her safe while trying to figure it all out? Loved it...so looking forward to the next book!
This book is a Reverse Harem story a story that is the first in a series written by the talented Michelle Ziegler. I loved this book and it was short enough that I was able to read the whole book in one quick sitting. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The story is one that I wasn't expecting and the paranormal aspect of this story is something that added to it. A girl raised by witches that doesn't know anything about her past, and then finds out that she is has not only one fated mate but three. This story is mainly a Jalapeno Pepper however there is more than one EXTREAMLY HOTT scenes so I would put it also at a Thai Pepper.
I loved the way the author wrote this book, with the twists and turns. It keeps you on your toes, and has you thinking ahead and then double guessing what you have been thinking. The steamy scenes get your blood flowing and hoping that you can find relief with someone else or even by yourself. The twist on the paranormal that Ms. Ziegler has written is one that I can get behind, and I loved the way that she has written her paranormal world. There's a little bit of a mystery that still is left at the end of the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys werewolf stories, and fated mates. If you like steamy romances, this is the series for you. I recommend that you have an afternoon to read the whole series. Once I started this series I couldn't put it down.
I hope that this has helped you find your next Tantalizing Tome!
This is my first Ziegler creation and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I mean it had everything I love in a story I choose whether my finances permit it or I was able to receive a complimentary copy. The following opinion is totally my own and completely honest.
Fiona is soon to be considered an adult at 18 and all she wants is to find the magic she was born with and celebrate her birthday with her aunt and maybe friends. Her Mom just foisted Fiona into her sister's hands to raise.
As her birthday arrives so too do her three mates and then this story takes off. Ii was action packed had a great world to fall into throw in some realism and romance and you end up with an awesome story and it's the beginning of a series no less.
What more can I say to encourage readers like me that this is one for your story collection. Also if you are wondering there was no compensation involved.
DNF - quit at 25% Really hard to get into this story. There is little background/world building, which made it hard to get oriented into the story. I felt I missed a previous book, or at least a decent prologue to set it up. Didn’t help that Drake was a total @sshole, the kind I hate to read about. In he end, my attention drifted, & I couldn’t bring myself to pick the book up again.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
I read A LOT of paranormal/paranormal romance/ urban fantasy books. And a very large chunk of them have been reverse harem shifter type of book. You would think that I would have read every plot line possible by now. And while there are always going to be a little cross over when you read so many of the same types of books again. But I was impressed by this one. Definitely a different take on the whole mate finding process. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward greatly to book #2! Especially with the KILLER cliff-hanger that Michelle left us in. If your the type who doesn't understand that most series have cliff-hangers and that's going to upset you, then maybe pass on pretty much every series out there! (lol). This audiobook had me hooked before chapter one was even half over. I could tell this was going to be great. What a birthday for Fiona. Life would be so much simpler if on your birthday, when you are ready, three extremally sexy men show up and whisk you away to a place where you belong. Oh, and you went from thinking your a dud of a witch to part of some very big power. Sign me up! I think mine are a little late I guess. Another amazing thing about the book is that there are 4 narrators. Four main characters and 4 narrators. Sarah Puckett did her same amazing performance as always. She has such a sweet yet sexy voice. And I'm pretty sure we have the same type in books, if she's only narrating books she likes anyway. (lol). Jay Adler is another voice I recognized. As soon as I heard him speak I thought MOTHMAN!! (A Beatrix Hollow book, another great one btw) All 4 did great. It was cool having so many different narrators. It definitely brought a little something extra to the book. I am really looking forward to book 2!!!!
This story had a great start but I was SO EFFING FRUSTRATED with the lack of information. Every time a question was asked.. it was always, let's talk about it once you shift. No one explained what her role was (but they were mad she didn't already know). They never explained WHY they were trying to protect her, or from what.
Fiona is a steaming pile of nada! She is immature af (NOT because she's a virgin) she is just DUMB!! She asks a question, is brushed off, now she's angry and ooh he's so hot.. she no longer cares. You are a 22 year old that JUST MET 3 guys and they are giving you ZERO information about YOU and you're like, okay they will tell me later.
I was NOT a fan of pushing her to mate yet SAYING you're being patient. 1- the girl is a virgin.. but not just in sex.. with kissing, touching EVERYTHING!! 2-there are THREE OF YOU!!! 3-mates or not, you are strangers. She didn't grow up in your culture she doesnt know/expect/believe fated mates yet 4- you haven't even explained that you are basically turning FERAL without being mated. It's pushy as fvck and no one even considers having a CONVERSATION with this sentient being (Fiona) and explaining why the urgency.
Drake seemed like a complete jerkface, until they mated. Then I realized he was literally losing his sanity without his mate so his attitude made sense. Now he's the bug gruff alpha and I can dig that.
I honestly was going to DNF this book around 78% but FINALLY pieces of information was trickling in. I don't expect all secrets to be revealed instantly.. but give me a reason to WANT to know more.
I will read the second book because I'm curious. This book should definetly go back through an editor too.
I think for those who enjoy RH primarily for the lust and smexy times, this story will hit even though there wern't many steamy scenes. For me, I crave character and relationship building. Add in an interesting plot and I am in my happy place. Unfortunately, by the end of this book, I barely knew anything about the characters other than they wanted each other. The plot could have been intriguing but the details were vague in regards to motives and other particulars. Additionally, there were mysteries surrounding the main female character which she mentioned wanting information on yet she refused to read a letter given to her which may have contained that info. I have read that plot delay device so many times and it doesn't do what I imagine authors expect such a ploy to do. Frankly, It only frustrates me. There was also the fact that the main female was not allowed to date other males so she was an inexperienced, 22 year old virgin but the readers are told repeatedly that the males had been with other women even as a group. I intensely dislike this inequity though it is also a very common element in romance books. It was especially bad considering the men knew they had a mate but the woman was only eventually told she was betrothed. Anyway, this review probably sounds like I hated the story but I did not. I do wish that it didn't contain elements that I loathe but if nothing else, the little we learned about the characters and world made me want to know more.
Taken in by her aunt when she was young, Fiona has never really fit in. She's a witch with no magic. On her birthday, the reason for that becomes apparent when her 3 true mates show up—her wolf mates. Someone has been keeping secrets from her. Her new mates are everything Fiona never knew she wanted, and although she has much to learn about her new life as a wolf, she has never felt more at home. Yet something is still missing.
This is a promising start to the series but it could be tweaked. It's typical to have insta-love/lust in wolf shifter books but it's important to have firmly developed characters before the first meeting. The guys could have been better developed. It's vital to know and care about the characters since there will generally be no relationship development in this genre. The storyline is solid. Subterfuge, danger, and unknown enemies interfere with what should be a happy time between Fiona and her men. It did fall short once they arrived at the wolf community. How did the pack react to Fiona? Was she welcomed, shunned, or disrespected due to her upbringing? Specifically, how did the women react? Did they embrace her or was their jealousy too much? Why did we not spend any real time with the guys fulfilling their roles in the pack? Meet any of their top members? Layering detail and creating side characters elevate a book from average to exceptional. I look forward to adding depth in the next book.
The narration of this book is very well done. Sarah Puckett is one of my very favorite narrators to listen to. I first heard her voice for The Fae Chronicles and always know I'll enjoy the listen if she's narrating. All of the male narrators did great as well, and in the future, when I see them listed, it will be an easy choice. I have listened to many from Pink Flamingo Productions, and I have enjoyed every single one. The sound was consistent with no distracting background noises. it was easy to listen to and get pulled into the story. I highly recommend the audio version for this book.
The writing of this book was good and the detail was as well. It is a Reverse Harem shifter romance with a good story. I liked the story and the characters overall and will probably read/listen to the next book in the series at some point.
my heat rating is based on the amount of occurrence, the length of scenes, how explicit/detailed the scenes are, and how filthy/unconventional. This rates about a 3/5.
I enjoyed this story. A great start to the series, the story was well thought out, brilliantly written and the characters were fantastically developed with great chemistry. Watch out for the cliffhanger ending. The story was a bit short for my liking but the multiple POV was good as was the world building and character development. The narration really made the story though and breathed life into the characters, showing their individual personalities. The excitement, action and mystery of the story were also increased by the story narration which was great to listen to and easy to follow. I was on the edge of my seat and listened in one sitting. A great start to a paranormal shifter reverse harem romance series, a gripping storyline filled with magic, mystery, intrigue, deception, action, enemies, friendship, romance, obstacles to overcome, plenty of blind twists and a fantastic ending making you want to pick up the next book. I am looking forward to find out what happens next as the series continues.
For starters, I really liked the story and the characters. I liked to get to know them. The story kept my attention and I read it in one tour.
Though, I like it, there were some issues with it. Like that, Fiona has questions. She asked around, but she has some sources at her hands but doesn't use it. And a huge part of the story was about her denial. I get it, that it is a shock when you learn you aren't what you thought you were. I get it, too, that it is a shock that you have not one but three destined men. But I never get the appeal of a FMC that denies and denies again against the all signs. But that doesn't disturb the story.
The plot increased with the story. And, of course, there is a little cliffhanger. But fortunately, I'm reading the series now, and it is finished. I'm exited for book two.
This was entertaining and well paced, but some things just didn't add up. Ex. Her loving aunt just let's her leave with the wolves saying I've raised you, but now I'm done "sayonara, have a good life". (Not logical) there are many more little things just like this that take the reader out of the story.
* I'm sure writing a book is really difficult, (kodos to all those that do) but I often wonder why author's make choices like the example above. Is it just because it's hard to maintain an additional character? Are the author's aware of all the plot holes and just don't know how to get rid of them? Or are they completely oblivious to their existence in the first place? Ive read a lot of books and this one is by no means the worst abuser of these traits, it just happened to get me wondering about these things in a general sense.
