Earth suffers under a brutal alien occupation. But one young man from beyond the galaxy's edge brings hope.

Ely Hale returns to the Earth with a desperate plea from his father: Take his son to Stacy Ibarra and remove the Qa’resh technology embedded in his skull before it kills him. Ely awakens to a world turned prison planet, and the Geist invaders have their own designs on the device he carries.

Only the Ibarra Crusade stands against the darkness, and they are losing the war. When the Crusade’s few remaining agents learn of Ely’s return, they launch a final, desperate attempt to steal him off world and out of the Geist’s clutches.

Ely isn’t a warrior, but the Hale name comes with high expectations…and carries hope for all of humanity.

The Ember War Saga continues with this first novel in the Ibarra Crusade.

Great new entry into the next Ember War series

Having read every book and short story in the Ember War universe, I was excited to read the first book in the next series. I was not disappointed, and I enjoyed the constant story development and finding out bit by bit what happened since last we heard from the characters. It was great seeing how the characters from the various books interconnected with this story, and while I did not like what happened to them, it added a great sense of continuity to the story and character development. As usual, I read this waaaay to quickly and now have to wait for the next book to come out. Just re-read the entire first series, guess I should re-read the second and third series again while I wait...hmmm...OK!!

Amazing

Another epic installment ! I had to go back and read Ferrum Corde again just to recap, whilst also catching up on the Pathfinders series. There's a lot going on so a refresher or recap of FC and Hale's War would have been great , some may need to go read those again. This is overall a dark book that does have plenty of drama, action, despair, tragedy and brings up emotions for book characters - that means the series is amazing and endearing , as The Ember War has been.

the galaxy of enemies never end!

A religious cult devoted to the evil god who helped kill the xanos. I think there were a lot of holes here though. Stacey seemed to have earth by the balls at the last series and they were going to mass roduce humans. Instead humanity Keeps depending on aliens when most of them keep betraying them? These people are dumb. Doesn’t quite add up but it’s still good.

Pretty good in general. There is a LOT of lore and terminology to take in here. I think this series could very well turn into something great but this is very much an origin that comes at you fast. Currently reading the second book, and still having some trouble keeping the different races and belief systems straight. Worth a read if you are looking for something, but I wouldn't put The Expanse on hold to read these.

Always a good read

I am such a fan of the Ember War universe. This book left me a little confused about the time line like maybe I missed a couple of stories, but the characters all came back quickly. The last I heard about Roland and Stacy Ibarra was when she gets returned to her human body. Still a great story.

Excellent new start

I've enjoyed this author's books before, and this is no exception. Good story, lots of action, and a hero you can even begin to like by the end. If you enjoyed other armor books, you'll like this one too.

Fantastic continuation

A fantastic continuation of earth's story. Can Ibarra and Hale save humanity again? The story has a great start even though the main character is placed unnecessarily in danger it does keep the action going.

Great to be back in this universe. Took a while to understand what was going on and recall the stories leading up but once there it was as good as the rest so much so book 2 was read straight after. Highly recommend.

An interesting beginning

Threads from the previous novels come together in a new and exciting story arc. Some elements are unfamiliar but make a solid foundation for the story. Diving right in to the next book.

Another great book in the Emberverse and I’m curious was the naming of Standish’s ship Skippy paying homage? Well regardless I’m going to keeping thinking it was and the TP shortage in The Tyr FUNNY…!! Jeremy Robinson did it also in The Dark…
The TP shortage of 19/20 was a sh*tty time in history

A slow and slightly confusing start does not hamper this amazing addition to the mythos.

What a great change of pace! I think this is the ultimate mini series in the Ember War and what a great start. Fox is so good at pulp fiction!
