Thomas Rowlandson was in my opinion one of the greatest caricaturists and artists who ever took a pen in his hand. In this well researched book John Hayes explains the phenomenon Rowlandson and why his stroke was so unique. Few people know this artist by name but most know his works as some of them are in most schoolbooks around the world. You'll find a huge number of exemplary drawings and paintings to look at. Rowlandson also did invent the character of Dr Syntax and later in life drew many saucy scenes. His humor is still as fresh today as it was back in the 18th and 19th century. Brilliant book on a brilliant artist. Highly recommended!
