This was a short story! Weird, funny and also a page turner. I never expected some of.the incidents that occurred which made the short story good. 3 starts.
“Everything I thought about my life turned out to be a lie…” That single line sets the stage for an emotional and jaw-dropping journey in Lakisha Johnson’s While I Sleep. This short suspenseful read delivers a gripping tale that pulls you in from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the very end.
The story follows Corah and Tyrone Patrick, a couple who seem to have it all together—until the mask comes off. What happens when the one you love, trust, and share your dreams with is secretly plotting your death? What happens when the night, which should bring peace and rest, becomes the breeding ground for betrayal?
This was my first read by Lakisha Johnson, and I have to say—I’m not disappointed. The pacing was tight, the suspense was intense, and the twists? Wild. The fact that Corah's husband was not only living a double life but also conspiring to kill her for money was a storyline that completely caught me off guard. Add to that the eerie dream sequence and the terrifying reality that followed—it was truly a rollercoaster.
I felt deeply for Corah. Her world was turned upside down in the most shocking way. Tyrone’s betrayal wasn’t just emotional—it was physical, calculated, and cruel. The fact that he drugged her while smiling in her face was chilling.
If you’re looking for a short, suspense-packed read that’ll leave your mouth open and your mind racing, While I Sleep is it. Lakisha Johnson knows how to pack a punch in a few pages—and I’m definitely adding more of her work to my reading list.
Whew lord! This story felt like I was watching a good episode of Evil Lives Here. While I Slept kept me on the edge of my seat and had me turning the pages. This was my first book from this author and it won't be my last. Tyrone and Deshaun were some dirty muthasuckas and deserved what they had got. The reviews is what made cop this book and I'm glad I read it. I loved it so much. I really recommend this story if you looking for a good and super suspenseful short story to read.

I felt like I was reading a Lifetime movie. This book was short but nothing short of amazing. The thought put into writing this book, the suspense (bc I thought the dream really happened), and the plot made it a page turner. Like I read it quickly bc I wanted to know what happened. Great job Lakisha!

This book really spoke to me. While I slept, I found myself deeply connected to the story. The emotions, the struggles, the quiet strength of the characters—all of it felt personal. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve finished it, because it reflects a truth you’ve lived. I’m so glad I picked it up.
Chile I need more reads like this. This short story was darn good. The plots and twist of this story really grabbed my attention and had me not putting it down until I read every word. This book is a must read ASAP
Once again, I've read a book of hers in one sitting. Nothing is what it seems. Marriage changes nothing but your name. Evil is evil. But God allows nothing come upon you unaware! Great read.
Twist & turns baby, twist and turns. This story was a straight up rollercoaster. It was hard to figure out what part was real and what part was the dream. Lakisha always does it well. Come on, get ta’ writing!
Lord, this book had me coming and going! Just when you thought you figured it out, BAM! Ms. Johnson what a great storyteller you are! One complaint... it was too short!
This book definitely had me feeling like I was on a rollercoaster! At first, I was so confused and I even didn't know what was real. But to say I was shocked by the revelation at the end is a understatement.
Wow...just wow! I was hooked from beginning to end. This short story kept me on the edge the entire time not knowing when it would switch scenarios. Don't want to spoil, but this is a must read! Thanks for another great read Ms. Lakisha!
I liked all the twist and turns in the story and how it all came out correct in the end. It was well thought out and clever to say the least.👏👏👏👏👏 with a touch of humor.
I can say I did finish the book in an hour. Enjoyed the book, was glad that the bad guys did not get away with what they had planned. Was short and sweet and to the point. Lakisha, continue doing your good work.

This one was quick but an entire TRIP! Whew what an emotional roller coaster ride. The main characters dream seemed so real but nothing prepared me for what could have been her reality. Wow!
This author has been a favorite since February 2020, when I received my first Kindle Fire, I started reading again. I'm amazed at the talent and imagination that the author possesses. Loved the added dimension of my favorite author and this book is impressive!
I've been totally obsessed with Lakisha Johnson lately! While I Slept is an absolute wild ride—a quick short story that feels like a blend of a fever dream and an Investigation Discovery episode. It's fast-paced and so entertaining!
Not what I expected, but a good, fast-paced story nonetheless. I must admit, I would have liked to see the first part play out because I was really getting a kick out of it.
