Two brutal murders — ten years apart. A missing child. A clock counting down…
Newly minted PI Molly McMurray has formed an uneasy partnership with Kaegan Kilpatrick, a distant relation and famous Scotland Yard detective — one who was murdered over a hundred years ago.
While struggling to come to terms with the presence of a ghost in her life, Molly is thrown headfirst into her first “real” case. A case that could bring an abrupt end to both her career and her life…
It’s a race against time as Molly and Kaegan search for answers in False Expectations, book 2 in the Molly McMurray mystery series.
Danger. Suspense. A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. A book that keeps you up all night reading because you just have to see what happens next...
It's what we're all looking for. The type of book that reaches out, grabs you and doesn't let go. Oh, it has its drawbacks. Nothing gets done. No cooking, no cleaning, no laundry. People call your name and you don't even respond. But it's worth it. Because you've found another place. Another world. And just for a little while, you're part of it.
I'm Cat Gilbert, and I write the Taylor Morrison Psychic Thrillers and the Molly McMurray Mysteries. In both series I try to give you, the reader, that experience. Characters you can connect with, a gripping plot chock full of action, danger, and enough twists and turns that even I have a hard time keeping up.
The The Taylor Morrison series centers around Taylor Morrison, a private investigator whose life is turned upside down when she suddenly develops psychic abilities. We're not talking X-Men, comic book, mutant type stuff here. Instead, this is the kind of thing you've always wondered about. Or at least I have. The idea that maybe we aren't utilizing our brains to their fullest. That maybe if we tried hard enough, we could do stuff and if we could, what sort of ramifications that would have.
The Molly McMurray Mysteries is a new series. The main character is, of course, Molly McMurray. There's a psychic 'twist' to this series as well, and his name is Kaegan. Who he is, and the role he plays, I'll leave to you to discover.
Having moved over 32 times, Cat Gilbert now makes her home in Arkansas with her husband and their dog, Clancy. When she's not writing, she spends her time trying to figure out a way to keep the deer from eating her blackberries and fig trees, experimenting with new Paleo recipes, and attempting to convince Clancy that playtime has to wait until she finishes the chapter.

Ok. This book was intense! The second in a series and it keeps on getting better! I love the characters and I love the shenanigan's that Molly gets herself into. Molly obviously cares about people in general (and yes, even a cat). I am loving the business setup and am anxiously awaiting more stories of Molly.
A regular rollercoaster of a mystery where the edges of villains and heroes collide!
Cat Gilbert writes with an electric excitement that exhilarates the reader and makes for a thrilling read! You will not want to put this book down and you will dread when it comes to an end! We need more where this comes from!
I have found my new favorite author love both of her series and can't wait for new ones the plots were very well done and kept you guessing just the right amount of supernatural will definitely get new ones as soon as they come out
Another excellent book in this series. I loved the new characters and can’t wait to see more of them. The fact that Molly knows better than everyone else is a little far fetched as well as the way over the top protectiveness of her family but I really enjoy this series as a whole. Can’t wait for the next one!
I received this book/novella because I am part of the author's ARC team.
This is an interesting read, tho I found it confusing as it appears that the author seemed to jump back and forth between the fact that the protagonist is a private investigator/was a former cop/was a reporter.
As this is the first Molly McMurray book that I read, I did not know that the spoke to the ghost of a long deceased relative on a regular basis.
As such, I would rate this book three stars out of five.
As with all reviews, this is just my five cents worth.
