Twelve years have passed since the Battle of Arizona. John and Rachel have settled into a quiet, domestic life in Hawaii with their children. Mavis has followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming an Army Special Forces officer. When a team she is leading goes missing, John sets out in search of her and discovers a terrifying new world.
Dirk Patton is the best selling author of the V Plague series. You can email him at dirk@dirkpatton.com or find him on the internet at www.DirkPatton.com or Twitter @DirkPatton or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RealDirkPatton
I gave this book a 5 because any book that keeps my attention from cover to cover deserves it. Also, Dirk Patton has never written a bad book, and I read this book in one setting! You have only to read the description to find out what the book is about, so I won't give away anything. I would wish that Dirk could write faster or make books longer because I can't wait for the next one! I know you are busy but it's been a long time and I have missed your tales. Everyone should enjoy this book, you will be drawn in immediately and trapped by the storyline! Please enjoy!
I quit buying from Amazon in January. Then I received an email that a new Dirk Patton book was being released. After determining that Amazon was the only way I could read it I bought it. I had to. Totally worth it. I have missed all the characters. I can't wait for the next book.
The opening hits you upside the head. Fiction mimicking real life. John is back and he’s just as bad as he was when the crap hit the fan. Most of the old gang is still kicking around, too, just higher ranked. And that’s all I have to say about that. Sometimes I really want to hate Dirk Patton...he certainly knows how to hook you, have you sitting on the edge of your seat, and then...to be continued later. Now to see where he’s taking us. I can’t wait!
We are back in the v plague universe and it is an awesome place. John finds himself in Texas and well things are a lot different. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store.
It has been 12 years since the final battle and the survivors have made a life for themselves in Hawaii. John & Mavis have settled into their new lives with their family, as has the rest of the survivors of the apocalypse. Their daughter, Mavis, is all grown up and has worked her way up to a Special Forces officer in the Army. Life is tranquil until Mavis and her crew disappear on a mission back to what once was the United States. When John sets out to rescue her he finds himself in an unreal situation. Literally.
What a great beginning to the next chapter in the V Plague saga. As always, Dirk Patton draws you in, anxious to find Mavis and get everyone home safely, and then… Whoa, where’d those 360 pages go? I’m finished reading the book already? I sure hope Mr. Patton is only days away from releasing book 2, I’m sort of hanging here waiting for more. If you loved the V Plague series you’re going to really love this book. It’s the beginning of the rest of the story.
Are you seriously back at it again. The king of the freaking cliffhangers strikes again. I wish I could say something more but I’ll have to leave it as a MUST READ and welcome new members to the ticked off cliffhanger victims club.
But in all seriousness, as always, a fantastic read and already drooling in anticipation of the next one Dirk.
And as always for prospective readers, if this is gonna be your first V Plague novel, a word of advice, DON’T!!!!! Go back and get Unleashed: V plague book 1. You really need to start at the beginning to get the flavor of the story line before you jump into the deep end of the narrative!!
Loved this!!! Adventure is always around the corner. I didn't realize how much I'd missed John, Rachel, Jessica and the rest of the VPlague hang until I started reading this. I am very much looking forward to the next part of this continuing saga!!!
It's nice to have you writing again about the plague series was so disappointed in your breakaway series glad that you are back to this series good story line you are such a good story telling
I enjoyed this first installment in V plague legacy. It’s like coming home to your comfortable house or apartment. It feels familiar, you slip on your slippers and change into your comfortable clothing and sit down and relax that’s what this book felt like. Your old familiar crew, friends and associates surround you. The book is full of plenty of action, familiar locales, and an interesting storyline so far. Bravo can’t say anything bad about it. If you’re haven’t read the original version v plague series please do so it is worth it then continue on to the second series.
I am sorry, but I was expecting a full story here. Not something that reminds me of someone taking a book breaking it in half and publishing it in two parts. While I am a fan of Dirk Patton and have read V Plague series, I feel this book only sets the stage for the next book. What there is of the story is good, but it left me wondering why there wasn’t at least one storyline that wrapped up in it. I really disliked that it ended so abruptly.
Off to a slow start, but I’m going to stick with it. Hopefully, I find out the back story as to how this plaque started. In the mean time, let’s get back to the prison and find out what happened to Vance and Mavis. I have a feeling that boo boo is about to hit the fan in Texas.
It has been a while since I finished the original V Plague series of books and I have to admit, I have forgotten much. This book tends to stand on its own without requiring too much input from the previous books. It's good escapist/B-movie fare and, to my astonishment, a very quick read. On to book 2.
Have to give Dirk Patton credit , didn't think his imagination could just leave the V Plague alone. Everyone knows General Chase has to stir whatever mixture is available. Good story, well worth the wait. Highly recommend reading the V Plague first. (Will make a lot more sense)
This is every bit 5 stars. As a V Plague fan I'm so excited to be back in that world. The action is rapid paced and the thrills are fast and furious. Cannot wait for the next installment.
This book was a good as all the rest. Reading it was just like I finished the last book yesterday. The action is as explosive as it’s ever been. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series
Dang it, Dirk. You have gone and done it again. Just when I thought I was out you pull me back in! Great writing, edge of your seat action, maybe ghosts...ok. Let’s roll!
I couldn't put it down! I have read every one of the other books in the v plague series and liked every one. When I saw this one come out I just couldn't stop. Now I have to wait for the next one. I hope comes soon!
I am in heaven! I am so grateful you chose to continue this fabulous universe. I am 70 and this is one of the most enjoyablebook series I have read. I am beyond happy the story marches on. Thank you!
This was a good kickstart for a continuing story line. I like the tone of the story and how the characters were introduced. Good ending for the first book leaves the reader looking forward to the next...
I had been watching fo more chapters to this story. I enjoyed the earlier books, and this book, while short, whet my whistle for more. On to the next installment!
Very good book. I have to admit, I was shocked by the ending. The book was over way too fast. But i throughly it. If you l liked the other v plague books you'll enjoy this on free too.
A decade has passed, Hawaii is secure, but all is not well. Most of the world is uninhabitable, and there is still much contention regarding remaining resources. There is still a lot of ramifications from the virus to be sorted out.
Here we go again ,Same old S**t again. While I love the fast pace of these books, it can get depressing sometimes. Fortunately, this is a very quick read so maybe the next one will cheer me up
I love this whole entire series and was not disappointed with this book. I was under the impression that the series was over but it's such a surprise to see it's not
Free me in just like the original series! It took me a little more than a week to read the original. Unfortunately I don't think these two books are going to last the day!
This promises to rival the original series! With all the characters already in play from the V Plague series you may feel you know what is coming.... but lose those illusions quickly as all the rules have changed.... and not for the better!
Man, I am so glad that John’s adventures continue! This is such an interesting literary universe, and I love the setting. It’s so cool to see the characters matures and all grown up, but that ending…cruel, but I can’t wait to see how it really resolves
