They say a change will do you good, but where do you find the courage? This is the question at the core of Ashley Farley's newest novel, Change of Tides .

“The only thing in life that’s constant is change, Hannah. Like the change of tides. The water goes out, and you’re at your lowest, but then it comes rushing back in, and you’re riding high again.”

Birdie is a survivor. Her daughter Hannah and young grandson Gus have given her the strength to carry on after her husband disappeared and she finally acknowledged she was an alcoholic. Her life has changed so much—her café is flourishing—but is she ready for the next steps, namely trying to date again and having Hannah and Gus possibly move away?

Hannah, too, is ready for the next step. Her web design business is so successful, but is staying on Palmetto Island limiting her? Should she consider moving to Charleston and expanding her business? Should she consider the offer to buy her business from a handsome suitor? Will stepping out from under her mother’s wing be the change she needs to go to the next level, or will it expose the decisions she made relative to keeping Gus a secret from his father?

When a figure from their past returns, it sets off a chain of events that push Birdie and Hannah outside their comfort zones, forcing them to confront their fears and make decisions about their futures. It will take strength, courage, and the help of friends and loved ones to weather these storms.

Farley does it again with Change of Tides . She has been one of the best discoveries I’ve made on Bookstagram—her novels are so enjoyable, combining drama and romance with settings you absolutely want to be in. Every one of her books hooks me right away, and even if I suspect how things will turn out, I want to go on these journeys with her characters.

If you’re a fan of women’s fiction or just good stories, give her a try!!

My thanks to Kate Rock Book Tours and Ashley Farley for including me on this latest tour, and for giving me a complimentary advance copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review. Can’t wait for the next one—luckily, she writes fast!!

A new series from Ashley Farley is always good news. She writes Southern fiction with fantastic characters and well described settings. Plus not all of her characters are young - this book has several mature characters who are using a dating site to find new fellows. This is the first book in the series but it was preceded by a novella called Muddy Bottom that gave her readers a glimpse of the characters in the series.

Hannah, her three year old son Gus and Birdie all live in an apartment above the bakery that Birdie owns. They have lived there for three years but know that there are changes coming for both of them. Hannah knows that if she wants to continue her business, she's going to have move to a larger town. Birdie is really worried about empty nest and goes on a dating site to find a male companion. She's reluctant because she was devastated when her husband left town with funds embezzled from his law firm and a younger woman. When her husband returns to Palmetto Island, both Birdie and Hannah have to decide whether to forgive him as they move on in their lives. Can they let go of past loves and find new loves?

This is a fantastic story about a mother and her daughter who both have to decide if they want to make changes in their lives or stay the same. The characters are so well written that they feel like people I know in real life. The setting at the beach is so wonderful that it feels like I've been on a mini-vacation. I can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens to the Hannah and Birdie as they try to make important changes in their lives.

If you don't read Ashley Farley, it's time to start. Her books are fantastic and you don't want to miss her fantastic style of southern fiction.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Ashley Farley is one of my favorite authors. Her books are about real people with real issues. Change of Tides continues the story of a mother and daughter who are moving on with their lives. Birdie is a recovering alcoholic and moving on from being abandoned by her husband Cary. Hannah, Birdie's daughter, is a single mother looking for love and a career. Both women find themselves caught between past loves and new ones. There are bumps in the road for both women, but they appear to be headed in the right direction. The storyline is true to life and the characters are well developed. I can hardly wait for the next installment of The Palmetto Island Series! Thank you Ashley Farley for another five star book!

Since the prequel to this series, Muddy Bottom, three years has gone by.  Hannah along with her son, Gus, who now is nearly 3 years old are still living above the bakery which is now a cafe with Birdie.  Hannah has established a successful online business and is feeling it's time to move out on her own.  Birdie's life-long friend, Max, is convincing her she should sign up on an online dating service.  Business at the cafe is booming.  However, their predicable lives are disrupted by the sudden appearance of Birdie's soon to be ex-husband who has been missing for three years. Hannah is shocked to discover, Ryan, the birth father of Gus, who never knew she was pregnant, is in the cafe with his fiance.   Can life get any more complicated?

Once again, the characters of this book come alive on the pages, thanks to Ashley Farley's talent to develop such life-like characters.  As I read, I found I was experiencing some anxious moments during some tense situations.  This book is a beautifully written story that is delightful and heartwarming.  Over the three years that went by,  I loved how the characters grew in confidence and love for one another.  As I turned the last page, my thoughts immediately turned to thinking about what will come next in the lives of these fictitious characters, that now feel like friends.

I was totally hooked on this series after reading the prequel, Muddy Bottom, and was excited for more. I immediately fell in love with these characters. And who doesn't just love this setting, Palmetto Island?

Change of Tides gives the reader a deeper look at the lives of Birdie and her daughter, Hannah, the characters from Muddy Bottom who I already love. I was there celebrating their joys and anguishing over the turmoil of their everyday lives. This book was such a wonderful way to escape for me, just for a little bit.

I always love Ashley's books and characters so, so much. I always feel like I become part of their circle of friends. I'm extremely excited for this series—the next installment is coming out in May. I love spending time in this world and I can't wait to go back and reconnect with them all.

Today I’m excited to present you with one of the best new to me authors I’ve discovered! @ashleyfarleyauthor has already written several series that I hadn’t read but I had the pleasure of reading Muddy Bottom and Change of Tides last week. Maybe it is the time in my life that I read them, with my kids leaving and all. I’m now attached to these characters like family.

This series is set in Palmetto Island and Charleston, SC! Those are some of my favorite places on earth.

Both books are about the difficult choices we have to make, what leads us there, the friendships we cherish, and the people we lose. Marriages end without warning, our children become adults and make decisions we may not agree with, but the thread through both of these stories was relationships and how people can heal, if you’re honest and put in the work.

I connected with Birdie, Max, and Hannah so much. I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to run to the beach. @ashleyfarleyauthor you absolutely are a new favorite author and I want to read all of your backlist!!

Muddy Bottom the first book is a novella and is free to download on Kindle. Change of Tides published February 8, 2021 so go grab your copy so you’re ready for the next book in the FANTASTIC series!!

Thank you so much @katerockbooktours and @ashleyfarleyauthor for my {gifted} copy of the book to review!!!

4.5 /5⭐
Due to the cold & snowy winter I’ve been experiencing on the east coast a new Ashley Farley series was a perfect reading escape to the lowcountry for me.

The relationship between mother and daughter Birdie and Hannah each taking big steps in moving their lives forward. Hannah & her child Gus have been living with Birdie in her apartment above her cafe.

Birdie is attempting to navigate the dating world again after much encouragement. She turns her bakery into a cafe and has accomplished a lot including her sobriety.

Hannah a single mother to Gus is struggling with moving on from the comfort of living home having her Mom’s help with Gus to moving out and away to a bigger city. She’s also managed to keep her son’s biological Dad from knowing that he’s a Dad, he’s never known that Hannah was pregnant.

How does Birdie and Hannah deal with their past when it literally shows up for each of them? Friendship and family help to encourage and drive both women to navigate the necessary steps towards their futures.

This is a wonderful new series! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Anytime is a good time to read a Ashley Farley book!

Thank you Ashley Farley Kate Rock Book Tours for my ARC of Change of Tides and for having me be part of your wonderful book tour.

As always my reviews are my honest opinions and spoiler free!

Ashley Farley does it again. In Change of Tides, we head to Palmetto Island in South Carolina where Hannah and her mother Birdie have been slowly putting their lives back together over the last 3 years. Hannah from a failed relationship that left her pregnant and Birdie from when her husband (Hannah’s dad) disappeared from their lives taking all the money.

Over those three years, they’ve lived together and have grown closer through the hardships. One day out of the blue, Cary returns and turns his wife and daughter’s lives upside down with his appearance.

What ensues is a story about loss, trust, heartache, love and learning to trust your own instincts again.

I read this in one sitting tonight. Loved the family dramas, small town setting and the beginning of new romance possibilities for both Hannah and Birdie.

Change of Tides is book two of Ashley Farley's Palmetto Island series!

We meet Hannah and Birdie again and Gus is a sweet little boy full of mischief!

Hannah is trying to decide if moving is right for her now and her ex comes back in the picture threatening her peaceful life with her son! She's at a career crossroads but always, her boy is her priority!

Birdie is trying to navigate some changes to her living arrangement and I don't want to risk spoiling but I was so proud of her for sticking to her guns in this book!

I love the relationship with Hannah and Birdie. They are so close to each other and lucky to have each other!!

Ashley Farley's books are always so entertaining. They are about real people with real problems and there is always enough drama to keep you turning the pages late into the night!!!!

(Palmetto Island #2)

What a wonderful story of family, friends, forgiveness and love!
Ashley Farley as always, has created a novel, that has it all!
Upon opening the first page, I was brought to the inlet at sunrise on Palmetto Island.
Nothing better!
I could have easily stayed here forever, but the main character, Hannah is contemplating how she can expand her business and follow her dreams elsewhere.
Hannah lives with her Mom, Birdie and her three year old son, Gus. Hannah has no relationship with her son’s father and hopes he never finds out about Gus.
Birdie takes care of Hannah, but Hannah also watches over her mom since her dad disappeared three years ago.
Life is now comfortable.
However, nothing stays the same.
Challenges come forth causing lots of dilemma’s and decisions to be made for this amazing family and their friends.
I wanted to hug them all as they try to resolve some heart wrenching situations.
"Sometimes forgiveness does more for the person doing the forgiving than the person asking for it."

I cannot wait for the next book in this series!!

Not Christian. Though it references church-going on occasion, there is cursing, working on Sundays, and it normalizes adultery, divorce, and remarriage. The story isn't even resolved, so you have to keep buying books to find out what happens to the characters.

Ashley Farley has done it again with her newest series. Change of Tides is about Birdie and Hannah, they have both moved on. Birdie, from being abandoned by her husband and Hannah her daughter who was also abandoned when her father left them. Neither has heard from Cary since he embezzled from the company he worked for and left with another woman.
So this story tells us what happens when Cary comes back to town and thinks they should just pick up the pieces as nothing has happened. Hannah wants nothing to do with her father and doesn't want her toddler son to spend time with him because she is afraid he will do to her son what he did to her. They were close and he abandoned her as well as her mother and she has to deal with that.
Both Birdie and Hannah start finally dating again. Hannah's biggest fear becomes a reality when the father of her toddler shows up by chance at Palmetto Island and she never told him she was pregnant.
It seems both mother and daughter are struggling with what to do. I am cheering for them to keep moving on because they both deserve better than they were treated the first time.
Ashley is an amazing author when she is writing because you learn things and you form an opinion and then she continues to write the story and she makes you think about the same things a little differently. Let's just say that once I thought about what she was sharing with us in the book, I could understand the reasoning. But no it isn't as simple as that because then the plot thickens and she takes us through the latest plot twist and I think there it is done. But nope, how can one person make some big mistakes, and you have made up your mind about the situation, only to see yet another way to look at the same situation.
This was a wonderful book that flowed so smoothly but opened my eyes to see things in a different way. As I was reading this book, I kept thinking about a quote I have heard many times, if you don't like something, change the way you think about it. I love this series and the series will continue because their journey is continuing, and there is still a lot of uncertainty and I can't wait to see how Ashley unravels the uncertainty and how they each end up.

Ashley Farley’s writing is absolutely glorious. She has done it again with another moving family life series that is unputdownable. I am anxiously anticipating the third installment which comes out in May.

The series centers around Birdie Fuller, her daughter Hannah, and their life on Palmetto Island. Book 2 - Change of Tides delves into Birdie’s fear of being alone when Hannah and her grandson Gus are planning to move. To preempt the potential loneliness, she finally decides to explore the realm of online dating, but becomes hampered when she experiences an unexpected surprise from her estranged husband. Meanwhile Hannah is dealing with troubles of her own when the father of Gus mysteriously shows up in town and tries to lay claim on his son.

Ashley weaves a captivating and emotional story with this one that is bubbling with intrigue, charm and romance. It’s typical Ashley Farley writing, that has you flying through the book yet hoping it never ends.

Now, you have to know Change of Tides can certainly be read as a stand alone, as can all of Ashley’s “series” books. But there is a prequel to this novel, a novella called Muddy Bottom. Although you don’t HAVE to read it, I highly recommend you do. Not only does it give backstory to Birdie and Hannah’s stories, it’s just as suspenseful and charming as Change of Tides, its an absolute page turner, and it makes reading book 2 even better (if you can actually make any of Ashley’s books better). You can actually download the novella from Amazon for free right now.

Both of these books are superb reading, and I highly recommend them both. If you haven’t read any of Ashley’s books yet, I suggest you give them a try, I feel sure she will become an auto-buy author for you just like she is for me. Both Muddy Bottom and Change of Tides are 5 star reads for me, and when the 3rd installment Lowcountry on my Mind comes out in May, I feel sure it will earn the same praise. I highly recommend these books.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This review will contain a few spoilers.

Overall, this was a fun read. The primary character, Hannah, is likeable, as is her son and Hannah's mother. Hannah learns to lean on herself more and move past her fears in order to fulfill dreams she has for herself and her son.

There were some issues I had with the novel, which is why I rated it a 4/5.
1. First and foremost, shortly after she meets Ethan, has dinner with him and talks at the restaurant for a few hours, she wakes up the next day (back at her own home) and gets a call from him that seemed more intimate that it should have been. At first, I thought I'd missed a few pages because it was so sudden, so I went back a few, but I definitely didn't miss anything. It just made the jump.

Secondly, I had a hard time with Ryan and the decision Hannah had made early on in her pregnancy regarding choosing not to tell him about the baby. I understand that he cheated on her, but why does that mean that he should have no knowledge about her pregnancy? That just didn't sit well with me. Additionally, Ryan was an unlikable character throughout the whole book. Even after hearing his viewpoint at the end of the book, I still did not like him. He did some dangerous stuff around Gus (no car seat, drinking, etc)...

Aside from those parts, the rest was good. I was glad that Birdie had such a supportive friend to lean on when she was tempted to drink and that she was learning how to navigate life as a recovering alcoholic. I liked her character quite a bit.

Overall, I'd rate this as a four star book. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book and I'm definitely going to check out her other novels now.

This book is the second in Ashley Farley’s Palmetto Island series. First in the series is Muddy Bottom which is available free on Amazon!

This book was just as delightful, emotional, suspenseful, and full of drama as the first one was! I can’t help when reading this series falling in love and hate with the characters of Palmetto Island. Not to mention how much I love SC. I already asked my husband if we could book a trip to Charleston, SC this summer because of this book! This series gives me the feeling of watching Grace & Frankie with the friendships, Hart of Dixie with the small-town feel, and Jane The Virgin with all the crazy drama.

These books are short and packed full of excitement. The friendship that Birdie and Max have is one of a kind and my favorite part of this series. I loved seeing the changes in Birdie's character and seeing her move on and making steps to becoming a great Mom and Grandmother.

I also really liked seeing Hannah’s character grow up. I was happy for her accomplishments both in her career and life. I can’t wait to read the next book and read more about her next adventure.

The end chapters left me on edge and I couldn’t read fast enough to get to the conclusion!

Ashley does a great job of adding new characters to her stories and doing it so seamlessly. It never becomes confusing but it adds something extra to all the drama and fun.

I adore this author and her books!

Don’t forget you can grab the first book in this series on Amazon for free! Change of Tides is available for purchase on Amazon as well!

Ashley had many books out and this is her 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 series. The first in the series is 𝗠𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺, a novella available for free on Amazon. The second book is Change of Tides which is a longer full length novel. There’s a third book coming out later in spring!⁣

Both books take place in beautiful and sunny Palmetto Island which was the perfect location to dream about in dreary February. Hannah and her mom, Birdie are each going through some major life issues. Their father/husband is back after disappearing with all their money after 3 years. Hannah is trying to start her career after having a baby very young. Birdie is trying to get her groove back after opening her cafe and getting her love life on track. ⁣

This series is just pure fun and I just loved the light and easy tone of this book. I loved Birdie and Hannah learning about their relationship with each other after having some rocky moments. I enjoyed reading about Hannah’s success with her web design business and starting her own business with another young female entrepreneur. ⁣

Thank you so much to @katerockbooktours and @ashleyfarleyauthor for my gifted copy of Change of Tides. I’m going to need to read other books of Ashley’s as we wait for book 3! ⁣

Change of Tides is the first book in Ashley Farley’s Palmetto Series. This is another wonderful book written by one of my favorite go to authors. This book has a prequel Muddy Bottom which gives an insight into the characters in Change of Tides. Ashley Farley has written a wonderful story which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page. I did not want to put this book down and read well past my bedtime. I loved how the author described everything so vividly I was able to visualize and feel everything that was going on. This is very well written has well developed characters. I felt like I was right there with the characters going through everything with them. This is a very emotional and enjoyable story full of second chances, love, friendship and wonderful characters. I laughed I cried and I felt all the emotions of this book. If you have never read Ashly Farley now is your chance to start right at the beginning of this series. You will definitely be hooked on her writing. I can’t wait until the next installment in this amazing new series.

Birdie is a recovering alcoholic whose husband took all their money and disappeared with his girlfriend. She owns a bakery on Palmetto Island and is convinced by her friend Max to join a dating website. She thinks she has found the perfect man when her husband returns and wants to start over. Will her husbands return make her start drinking? Will she choose to take him back or choose her new love?

Hannah is Birdie's daughter who lives with her son Gus with Birdie above the bakery. Hannah is a website designer and owns her own business. She is living on Palmetto Island hoping Gus's father doesn't find them. She gets an offer from Stan to buy her business and hire her to oversee the design staff in Charleston. But Hannah doesn't feel the business is a good fit especially since she has a romantic connection with Stan. Will she take the chance and move? Will Gus's father find them?

Ashley Farley never disappoints me in a heartwarming story about relationships, family, and love. The characters have already become my friends and I cannot wait to read what happens to my new friends in the next book.

Book two begins two years after book one. It includes the same characters plus a few more to complicate lives.
"Birdie Fuller doesn’t like change. And a lot of change is happening at once. Her daughter, Hannah, finally cutting the apron strings, is moving with her three-year-old grandson to a nearby city. Facing a lonely empty nest, Birdie joins a dating website to find companionship. She meets the seemingly perfect man, but is their relationship too good to be true? When the past comes back to haunt Birdie, she struggles to maintain the sobriety she’s worked so hard to achieve?

The beauty and wildlife of Palmetto Island provide inspiration for Hannah’s creativity. However, in order to grow her web design business, she must move to a bigger city. But is she ready to leave the security of her mother’s apartment? For three years, she’s been hiding out on the island, avoiding contact with her son’s biological father. She never told Ryan about the pregnancy. He doesn’t know about Gus. When Ryan shows up at Birdie’s Cafe out of the blue, Hannah’s world comes crashing down around her. Will she give Ryan another chance? Or will another man steal her heart?"

Be still my heart! Ashley Farley is coming out with a new series called Palmetto Island and it is fabulous. The first book is a Novella called Muddy Bottom and the ebook is currently free at most retailers. On February 9th book one Change of Tides will be released. I've been privileged to read both of them. Can I tell you I'm already excited for the next book? You need to go download Muddy Bottom right now and find out what the excitement is all about.

This author has a way of writing stories and creating characters that draw me in from page one. It doesn't take me 50 pages or a few chapters to become invested in the story and fall in love with her characters. I haven't read anything by Ashley Farley that I didn't like. She is one author that I don't have to read the synopsis. I know instantly I'm gonna like the book. She is that great!

If your looking for a series or just a book that will give you all the feels, one that will take your mind off politics and the pandemic, try Muddy Bottom. Then preorder Change of Tides. I'm sure you won't be sorry. Let me know what you think.

Change of Tides is Book #1 in Ashley Farley’s new Southern Fiction series. Hannah’s sunrise kayak tour is a glorious start to the day and to this book. We are immediately drawn into the story and the town of Palmetto Island. I want to grab a cup of coffee and a donut at Birdie’s Nest Café and stay for a while. The main characters Birdie and Hannah have seen many changes in the past few years and are making new lives for themselves. They will have to deal with the change in tides, big and small waves, forecasted storms and those that come out of the blue. But through it all we can see that they are strong women and their hard work and support of family and friends will bring them through. But don’t take my word for it, jump right in! If you haven’t read any of Ashley Farley’s books – start with the free prequel to Change of Tides - “Muddy Bottom” which is available now. Then “Change of Tides” will be available on Feb 9th. Thanks to the author for this review copy. It went by so quickly, I think I need to read it again!
