What happens when an alien slave master gets greedy?
After being thrown into cages to pleasure brutal alien fighters, I’m broken—a mere shell of who I used to be.
I’ll be used and forced to do the monsters’ bidding, it’s too much to expect a male to watch over me.
Then the Beast claims me.
When he touches me, I yearn for more. When he kisses me, I surrender in gratitude. When he undresses me, I ache to scream his name. And when he makes me fly, I soar higher than ever before.
But there’s a problem. In exchange for my release, I’ve already made a deal with the warden to get impregnated with the Beast’s baby. How can he love me when I’m betraying his deepest wishes?
Beast in the Cage is a full-length, standalone alien sci-fi romance. It features a possessive, alpha alien in intense, steamy scenes with his human mate. There are no cliffhangers or cheating, and a happily ever after is guaranteed!
Not great. The description is somewhat misleading. It seems to indicate the heroine has been used for sex repeatedly by alien fighters when she’s actually “new” and hasn’t had sex with any aliens when she meets the hero. She is also too stupid and naive to live. The hero is a gray alien with horns, but otherwise seems basically human. He does have a “special power”, but he doesn’t have any odd appendages, habits, etc. He seems basically human. The mad scientist guy is trying to find out his special power, but apparently has been able to clone him. It just doesn’t make sense. It’s also not a complete book. It ends with “sign up at my web site to read the epilogue”.
'Ivy era por lo que estaba luchando. No para sobrevivir, no para la gloria, sino para alcanzarla y reclamarla como mi premio, no por un solo día sino por todos los días'.

Beast in the Cage de Tammy Walsh Serie Fated Mates of Breeder Prison 1
Argumento:
This girl, Ivy, is dumb as a bag of bricks! This girl was abducted by aliens to be essentially raped by the gladiator aliens. This is what she thinks when the head alien in charge of the prison:
“I was touched by what the Supervisor was trying to do. It must be hard for him to work against every scientific moral he had. You had to respect someone for doing what they knew was right.”
Are you shitting me? What?!
The synopsis was also misleading. It states Ivy has been “used” time and again by aliens fighters. Not true (not that I wanted it to be but why lie about something like that?). She was new and only ends up with Beast.
Beast is alien but acts 100% human. No alien appendages, powers (apparently he had a secret one, does it ever manifest? No clue), or mannerisms. She doesn’t even play with his horns even they have sex.
Also, they have jeans and tshirts on outer space prison planets. And prison cells with kitchenettes.
The book was okay and I normally wouldn't rate it poorly. However the ending was not the end. No spoilers. The author tells you if you want to read the epiloge you have to sign up for her news letter. Then if you do that you have to follow steps to make sure its not sent to spam...... I bought the book. I don't want to have to jump through hoops to have you email me the end. I won't buy anymore books if there a catch. Another small annoyance was the way the H refers to himself as alien. No one refers to themselves as the alien. It was not well done.
Big ol'nah. The pacing was poor, and messy (they a had a very similar conversation for the first time twice). Grammar and spelling was off in spots. And I guess in space everyone wears jeans and shirts. Even on a prison planet. I don't why this bothered me, but it did. Also who has a kitchenette in a prison cell? Like thats just a shitty studio apartment. I skipped ahead to the ending which ended abruptly. You can get an epilogue if you sign up for a newsletter, which is fine, but only if the ending was fine on it's own. If the book ends oddly without it, don't make me jump through hoops.
This was honestly just a mediocre romance for me, unfortunately :(
This is the romance between a human woman named Ivy and a rare alien named Kren.
I really liked the concept of this book, but I don't think it panned out the way I expected. I saw the "twist" coming all the way from a mile away. It also ended too abruptly for me.
I was remarkably surprised by this book. I thought it was going to be a pretty easy read and more of the Mars needs women trope. But this took a surprising turn in which I really enjoyed. I'll definitely read more from this author in the future.
3.5 stars. I enjoyed this but it really, really, really annoys me when you have to sign up for the Author’s newsletter to get the epilogue. Which, on principle, I refuse to do.
The writing and character development could have been better. The story line was intriguing enough that I finished the book and will probably read the 2nd in the series even though it features different characters. Ivy was my least favorite, she had more spunk than the other girls but it still seemed to be a weaker girl character when I tend to favor the stronger female characters.
Abducted, alone and afraid. Is one master any better than another? It is when you find your fated mate. I enjoyed reading this series. the is lots of action, pain, love, and emotions in this series but it is worth the read.
"Beast In The Cage" is Book 1 in the new series (The Fated MATES of the Breeder Prison) by Tammy Walsh.
I loved the book for several reasons. First, there are fabulous characters, there is lots of steamy romance, and an action packed plot that will definitely entertain while keeping you up onto the wee hours in order to finish the tale. I could not put this book down.
Somewhere in the galaxy, there is a moon named Gharr where the worst, most heinous criminals in the galaxy are sent. The entire planet is a prison. And on this prison planet is a facility called Ikmal, where criminals are pitted against one another to fight for the entertainment of the masters, in the depths of the Fighting Pits. For those combatants who win, there is a prize. Their prize, to choose from among the 25 gorgeous women from all over the galaxy. A group of scientists are also houses in the facility and they work tirelessly to discover the secret abilities of the fighters. Kren, the only man on the planet who has never committed a crime, lost his parents when he was a young boy. The lead scientist, known as the Supervisor, brought him here and tested him for hidden abilities, until it seemed there was nothing. Kren fights in the pits and has never lost a fight. As champion, he is always taken to the prize pool to make a selection. He has never chosen anyone...until now.
Ivy is human. And three days ago she woke up surrounded by strange aliens. She was taken to be one the prize for any fighter who chose her for the evening. And his right is to do with her whatever he wants. She has avoided being selected until now, and the one who has selected her as his pride is the undefeated Champion known as "The Beast".
Once the scientist sew a that there is a connection between the alien fighter and the human woman, he offers Ivy a way to go home. Just have the Beast's baby.
Great read! I look forward to the next in the series!
Ivy (h), a resilient and spirited human woman, has been abducted from Earth to serve as a Prize for victorious fighters within the confines of the brutal Ikmal Prison. She manages to avoid being chosen until the day she is unexpectedly chosen by Kren (H), an undefeated alien known as The Beast, chooses her unexpectedly. Unlike the other fighters, Kren has never shown interest in claiming a prize before, intriguing Ivy despite her initial terror. As their relationship develops, Ivy learns more about Kren's tragic past. He is the last of his species, having been raised in the prison after the death of his parents. Kren, known for his immense strength and solitary nature, begins to reveal a more sensitive and thoughtful side. The two form a deep connection, challenging the oppressive system that defines their existence. Their relationship is complicated by a covert deal Ivy makes with the prison's supervisor in exchange for her freedom, unbeknownst to Kren. As their emotional and physical bonds deepen, Ivy grapples with the moral implications of her agreement and the genuine feelings she has for Kren. A hot and steamy fated mates alien-human romance with lots of danger, secrets, angst, and secrets.
Beast in a Cage is an alien romance that throws you straight into the heart of a brutal intergalactic prison, one where survival means blood, strength, and a will of steel. The rules are simple: fight to the death or yield and face humiliation. Among these savage battles stands the undefeated champion, known only as The Beast. He’s a legend within those walls, a creature of unmatched power and control, holding his title with not a single loss to his name. After every gruesome match, the victor is granted a prize—women stolen from worlds scattered across the galaxy, abducted and forced into captivity for the amusement of the cruel. Our heroine, Ivy, has only been on this nightmare planet for a few days when she’s chosen as one of those prizes. Everyone expects the Beast to ignore her like he does all the others. He never picks anyone. Ever. So, when he steps forward, silent and commanding, and chooses her… the entire prison erupts in stunned disbelief. The premise hooked me instantly, a deadly alien prison built on a moon, inhabited by warriors who fight for survival against the backdrop of a vicious alien race intent on destroying entire species. It’s brutal, intense, and thrillingly original. As someone who has devoured my fair share of alien romances, I found this one to be a standout for the sheer grit of its setting and the emotional depth that grew between the leads. What really surprised me was the Beast himself. He’s not your typical gruff, possessive alpha with a cruel streak. Despite his past, one filled with torment, loss, and pain, he isn’t bitter or heartless. Instead, he’s gentle in ways that feel almost impossible given his circumstances. There’s kindness hidden behind his monstrous exterior and watching that side of him unfold with Ivy made me fall even harder for their story. If I had one small complaint, it’s that I wanted more. The ending wrapped up a little too quickly for my taste. I would have loved an epilogue showing where they ended up,their future, their family, a glimpse of peace after all the chaos. Still, Beast in a Cage delivered everything I look for in an alien romance: action, heart, tension, and a love story born in the darkest of places. It’s raw, addictive, and left me desperate for more.
Ivy is a human stuck in an alien prison as a pleasure girl, spoils chosen by the aliens that win the pit fits. Kren is the best fighter at the prison. Kren never picks a pleasure girl. Once he lays eyes on Ivy things change.
This novel was okay, but there were some issues I had with it. One, the author relied heavily on describing everything. I would have preferred if she had used dialogue or “showed” versus told the reader what was happening. Second, there were discrepancies within pages of each other. For example, when Kren and Ivy first meet, she asks him how he got to the prison. He tells her. Then a few pages later she tells him she heard a rumor he was innocent of his crime. A second example, Kren tells Ivy the alien race that runs the prison, however later in the novel when the Scientist tells her the same thing, she is shocked. My third issue was the use of current English words by the humans and the aliens in the futuristic sci-romance. Ivy describes putting on “pants like jeans, but not jeans” and then a few lines later Kren observes that Ivy is “wearing jeans”. Kren has never been to Earth and denied having contact with humans before Ivy, so how would he know what jeans are. Fourth, in my opinion, the love scenes were mediocre. I felt the author remained general and almost PG-13 to focus on other events in the story. Lastly, the ending seemed rushed and somewhat incomplete. I did not like that the author’s last line was a sentence that included the title of the novel. There is an epilogue, however, you must sign up for the author’s newsletter to get access to the epilogue. Overall, the novel was okay, but I struggled to get through it. I would have liked to have seen more active descriptions since each chapter was from the point of view of the character. This novel is a nice read for when you want to indulge in stop and start reading. No matter where you left off, you can pick up without having to go back.
This is an interesting concept, with the prison planet and fighting pit the prisoners participate in and a human “Prize Pool” as rewards for the winners… but the writing and romance was very lacking.
The spicy scenes are written in Kren’s POV and that made things kind of unsatisfying for me, especially during the first couple scenes. We just don’t know much about him so reading those moments through his POV makes them feel less meaningful. The way things were described was kind of lifeless, just going through the motions. I feel with Ivy’s POV it would be sexier and more personal.
Ivy’s motivations seem to flip flop all over the place. First she wants anything but to be chosen, then she wants to be picked, then she changes her mind again, and not long after spending a little time with Kren does she change her mind once again and desperately wants to have sex with him. The physical aspect of their relationship had a lot of time spent on it, making the rest quite lacking. ESPECIALLY because Ivy literally lies to him so he’ll finish inside her… removing his ability to give informed consent. Funny, usually it’s the men who aren’t as concerned with consent so it’s different seeing this behavior from the FL.
Nothing really happens that makes me believe they’re in love, but they don’t waste time deciding that they are. After all the lying and stuff, I just can’t get behind it. There are a handful of cute moments/lines, but that’s not enough for me to be honest.
The ending also felt VERY slapped together. Like things just suddenly work out when they need it to. There is an epilogue but the author requires you sign your for her newsletter for all of her epilogues… and I don’t know if I’m going to do that quite yet. I’ll try out the next book in the series because I’m just curious where she can go from here, the ending doesn’t suggest much.
The book is the story between a human woman and an whole life imprisoned alien. Ivy was somehow found herself in a prison where the images participate in fights and she and other girls from the Prize Pool were the Victor's prize. They will be chosen to accompany the Victor to whatever he would want or command. She was abducted from earth and brought to the prison without her knowing and she would never let herself be a prize for anyone. A strong willed woman with defiance in her eyes and brave loving heart. She will be chosen by the prison champion , she will make a deal to save him and his pieces and she will fall in love with him deeply.
Ken is an alien who has lived all his life in this prison and fights everyday in the pit. He is the undefeded champion but he really doesn't belong there. He is not an inmate, he never commited any crimes, he just happend to be brought there by his parents and got rised by the supervisor since the death of his parents. Never cared for anything not and especially never cared to take a Prize. All until he met Ivy and something told him to choose her. From there he begins to learn about affection, feelings , love when all he ever knew was anger and hate. He will fall in love and he will love Ivy deeply so much he will be willing to risk everything for her even his own life. And after that drama starts of course.
I am torn with this book....I mean the beginning was very good, somehow innovating, with interesting characters and story, the development of friendship, love , action and a bit of drama. All was good until we reach the other half of the book...I felt the story was rushing the end the chapters became small and the writing was a bit off. But I did read it effortlessly and in overall I liked the story.

Only a 2 star book, I debated between the 2 and 3 stars, but the cliffhanger non-ending is what solidified my dropping it to a 2. I was hoping for more since it sounded good and the entire series as a box set was on sale and I bought it. But I should know, you always read the first book before buying the rest of the series.
The world building wasn’t very strong. A lot of references to earth and human things that wouldn’t or shouldn’t be on this planet or really knowing about. The aliens for the most part are very human too. There is no communication issues, the heroine hardly questions anything and she’s just arrived in this prison planet and only just learned about aliens. We don’t really see much of her adjusting to this, she’s just accepts it even if she wants to go back to earth. Never got a great feel for the prison either. It’s a prison but lots of ability to roam. I’ve read much better alien prison books. The heroine is TSTL throughout most of the book which just adds to how poor the world building is.
Another oddity that tended to pull me out of the book was how much Christian religion is brought in. It doesn’t take place on earth, and Christianity is not even the most practiced religion on earth, so if aliens a universe away we’re practicing or knew of earth religions you would think it would be either the most popular ones or more historical religions and mythology. Very odd and off putting.
I would really like if the author work more in the world building. I think the stories would naturally be better and more flushed out.
Also continuity lots issues. Things just don’t add up.
Kren is a fighter in a prison planet who never loses in battle. Ivy is a “Prize”, one of the human females kept as spoils to the victor or the prison battles. Kren never chooses a prize until he sets his sights on Ivy. She is surprised by his kindness, something that one doesn’t expect from the one known as Beast. The two have a connection and attraction they cannot deny. Surprised by their connection, the Supervisor approaches Ivy and asks her to help save Kren’s species from becoming extinct by having a child with him, thus continuing his species. Unbeknownst to Kren, She enters into a deal contingent on her being released from the planet for agreeing.
So, the plot is kind of preposterous but, I get the trope. I’ve and Kren had chemistry but I grew frustrated with the whole deception angle. Especially, since Kren was so good to Ivy. I’ve read one other Tammy Walsh book and like the last one, she ends it very abruptly with the couple just escaping into space. Which is sort of a let down ending in my opinion. I guess this is her thing. I’ve also noticed that the adventure and steam dies in this book from the moment the two get together in the bed. Another let down.
It was entertaining but, if this is how all of these end… with a view of the Starfleet ship blasting off into space… I’m gonna just stop my journey with these books right here.
The precis sounded sooooo good, but the actual book just seems nothing like it. Honestly, it just feels lazily put together. The FMC, Ivy, was kidnapped from Earth and sold to some gladiator type place to be a prize for winning fighters. Despite being there a while, she's never actually been chosen by a winner because she *checks notes* looks them in the eye when they come to choose a woman.
She also says that she's curvy and has small breasts, so all the other women are prettier than her, but then later talks about her flat stomach and long legs, so I'm not exactly sure what the author was going for here. Personality-wise, she's that "I'll argue about everything to show I'm tough" FMC, which I can't stand. The MMC Kren is apparently an alien, but talks like a human and wears underwear and tee shirts, so doesn't really feel like it.
The whole thing just feels kind of lazy and like it's trying to hit a bunch of things on a sci-fi romance checklist.
56% in, the heroine wonders ‘What had I been thinking? Why did I think having a baby with an alien was a good idea? I hadn’t been thinking. I must have gotten hit over the head with something heavy.’
Yes. I’ve been thinking that for almost half the novel.
I’m normally very forgiving of character’s dumb decisions in sci-fi books. Adventures in space are a crazy thing for anyone to handle, and dumb decisions will be made. Not here. I just couldn’t maintain suspension of disbelief for this book. The heroine, an abducted slave, decides to trust the warden, even when he asks her to lie to and manipulate the hero — the only person there who has treated her like a person. Seriously?!
She only sleeps with the hero because of the “bad plan”, which felt very off and wrong to me. Then she spends more than half the book falling for his stupid plan, and her multiple realizations of how dumb the plan were made me yell “Yes! Why did it take you so long to come to this conclusion??”
There are some interesting ideas here. But the villain is too busy being obviously evil and monologuing his evil plan. If he’d been sneakier, had tricked her in a way that I believed, it might have been a decent book.
Ivy had been abducted and was fresh meat to the prize pool for the fighters of Ikmal Prison on the moon Gharr, 3 days she spent watching other girls being claimed, praying she was not to be next. Kren (aka the Beast,) is one of the fighter prisoners, he is undefeated but yet has never taken a prize, until he saw her. At the prize pool Kren was drawn to Ivy he saw the her as the light in a dark place but once back at his cell he saw that she is a slave as much as he was. Yet he still burned with desire for her, a desire that was going to have consequences. When Ivy was chosen by Kren it brought her to the attention of the supervisor, as Kren is the last of his species it gave the supervisor the idea for Ivy to become pregnant by Kren to save his species and in return Ivy would get to go home like she wanted. Only is that what Ivy really wants when she gets closer to Kren? Is the supervisor truly trying to save Krens species? How will Kren react when he discovers the plan? This is a well written alien romance with desires, hot scenes, lust, violence, action, suspense and more!

New to me author and I was intrigued by the blurb for a book later in the series and discovered I already had the first one on my kindle.
I was glad to discover the blurb was somewhat incorrect - Ivy had recently been abducted from Earth and woke up in the alien prison and expected to serve as a Prize to the winning fighters. Until the Beast chooses her she’s been lucky enough to be untouched by any of the other prisoners.
This is a story driven book with the characters confronting challenging circumstances. Despite the bleak setting Ivy discovers a softer and gentle side to the fighter known as the Beast (Kren). The two of them have incredible chemistry and develop an intense physical relationship along with a bond.
The baby scheme is a bit crazy, especially when the prison scientist is able to detect the pregnancy the next day. The overall plot not only is an alien romance, but paranormal powers of the prisoners and surprising powers of others.
This was a fun and entertaining read, and certainly included some steamy scenes along with several fighting/action scenes.
This imaginative, however, the good parts are offset by some questionable choices. I liked the H, Kren, but the h, Ivy, wasn't the smartest. I am not a fan of human female heroines being portrayed as gullible and not too bright. It makes us look dumb as a species. Also, some of the stuff made no sense. Easily available jeans and t-shirts in space? Do other aliens wear them too? Prison cells with King size beds and kitchenettes? Metal prosthetic man-parts with screws sticking out the sides? If they are advanced enough to be able to make prosthetic man-parts, they shouldn't have issues with screws poking out. They probably wouldn't even use screws. Also, the villain was easy to spot a mile away. There were good things too though. I liked the descriptions of all the different species and their attributes. I liked the character growth between Kren and Ivy. She showed him there was more to life than just existing, and he gave her strength she didn't know she had. I would have liked to read the epilogue, but I don't like being manipulated into signing up for newsletters to get them.

This was a pretty good book and I’m glad Ivy and Kren finally worked it all out in the end but I wasn’t sure for awhile. Ivy is a human female that abducted from Earth and finds herself on a Prison Planet and will be a prize for one of inmates that fight in the pits and the winner gets the prize a female for the night and when she see’s them she is scared. Kren ( beast ) has live most of his life on the Prison Planet but he has committed no crime but Sharlene Aliens that run the place are experiment on and are finding ways to kill off the species they don’t like but the one they want to keep they try to breed them and Kren is one of them and they hope the new arrival will tempt him because every time he is in the pits he wins but he never takes a prize until he eyes lock on to Ivy and he chooses her to be his for the night. Ivy must breed with Kren to gain her freedom but Kren wont let that happen so they can experiment on his child. There is so much more to this book that you have to read it for yourself to find out how it all ends.

A young woman, Ivy, kidnapped from Earth, is now a sex slave in an alien prison. The winner of the daily fights get to choose from all the available women. So far she has preserved her virtue but today's she's not so lucky! Kren (aka The Beast), the sole survivor of his race, finds her hostility attractive and so starts a fairly sappy romance. It's all quite predictable and yet doesn't quite work - she's not a very believable and he's straight from central casting ("get me an alien warrior with hidden talents, and a heart of gold, etc.") Can they find true love? Will they escape from the prison? Do I care? Nope! "Beast in the Cage" could have been a much better read, but it is what it is - deeply flawed. And the rather odd offer to send me an Epilog, detailing what happened next, if I subscribe to the author is just bizarre - either the book is complete or it is not. 2 Stars - and that is being generous.
Perhaps the author will get better with the plots in time, but this felt like a bunch of jumbled thoughts placed too quickly together. In my opinion Ivy went too quickly from not wanting to have sex with Kren, to being into it with no inhibitions (even though it was clearly stated earlier that she was nervous about his rather large size). Some thoughts were also repeated more than necessary, to the point where I skimmed pretty much the whole novel and could still follow the plot. Then, near the end of the novel, Kren suddenly discovered a new ability that allowed him to save Ivy. It was almost like the author didn’t know how to get him out of the fighting pits without giving him a new ability out of the blue. It was almost like realizing a super hero didn’t have enough abilities, so one is made up on the spot.
