....turn around...

“Lieutenant?” Woodward was there as if he’d materialized out of the lush greenery beyond the strip of grass. “Did you injure your left arm?”

Hunter looked down at his hand on his arm.

“Have you been feeling light-headed at all?” Wood asked.

“Yes,” Cam answered for him.

“Oh, God.” Avia started to rise.

“Please stay where you are,” Wood said, pulling his open collar aside, revealing a mic he spoke into. “I have a code xray ten at bungalow seventeen. Direct evac to Oceanside, cardiac teams in place asap.”

Cam was on his feet looking to Woodward for instructions.

“Get his I.D. and any medications he’s on.”

Cam shoved the chair back and ran for the door.

“I’m sorry. Don’t leave me,” Hunter’s voice was thick. A tear slid down from the outside corner of one eye.

Sirens sounded in the near distance.

Avia was next to his chair with her arms around his shoulders. “He’ll never leave you, Hunter, he just went to get something.”

Panicked, Hunt tried to rise. “No! I don’t need it. Don’t let him go to the store!” He knocked the table over trying to get up, to follow Cam.

Woodward caught him as he slumped to the floor.

Hunt&Cam4Ever has been a favourite of mine ever since I read On His Knees. From that very first (short) installment, Hunter Kane and Camden Snow were unforgettable and edged into my mind. In fact, I started that very first review the exact same way I’m starting this one and, in all fairness, OMG is a perfect fit for the whole series.

This book is the culmination of everything that’s gone before. It answers remaining questions and reveals truths I wasn’t even aware I’d missed so far. It rounds things off in the most perfect fashion and yet, it was the toughest, most heart-wrenching story in the series.

Before I say anything else, let me repeat the words I ended my review of Shadow Men with: whatever you do DO NOT READ FOREVER UNTIL YOU’VE FINISHED SHADOW MEN. In fact, now that I’ve read Forever, I’ll go one step further and urge you to make sure you read all previous books before you even think about starting Forever. Without knowing everything there is to know about Hunter, Camden, Hunter’s team, and all the other characters who featured in the earlier stories, you won’t get the significance and beauty of everything that unfolds here.

Mind you, you’ll want to prepare yourself before you open this book. Guard your heart and be prepared for pain. The first third (approximately) of this story all but broke me. I never thought I’d see Hunt and Cam as shattered and insecure as they were in this tale. On the other hand, now that I have seen it, I have to admit it was inevitable. They had to break before they could become everything they always were, individually and together.

There’s a lot of pain in Forever. Old pain, almost forgotten pain, pain denied, and fresh pain. And while this pain is important and something our heroes must go through, it’s not what this story is ultimately about. The real purpose of this story is what’s on the other side of that pain, on what remains when the sharp edges of grief have smoothened, on what emerges after it seems like everything is lost.

In one way this is the story of Cam and Hunter doing what they should have done from the start and certainly before they got married. They’re communicating, discovering each other in different, not sex- or work-related ways. It’s beautiful, emotional, at times warming my heart at others all but breaking it.

In another way Forever is about Cam and Hunt being honest with themselves before they’re (able to be) honest with each other. They have to open themselves up and dive into the depths of everything they’ve more or less successfully pushed into the far recesses of their consciousness before they can emerge together, better, stronger, and closer than they’ve ever been—even if I thought they couldn’t possibly get any closer than they already were.

Just because Hunt is out of the running, doesn’t mean that his team doesn’t have a nasty and tricky murder to solve. Just like his team members, I initially had a hard time coming to terms with that. Hunt was such a central and vital part of their earlier investigations that it was hard to imagine how they would manage without him, whether they even could function without him. But I guess they, and I, had to learn a lesson too. Hunt and Cam have grown over the course of the eight book series, but so have those who work with Hunt. His influence may not be direct in this book, but enough of it rubbed off on his co-workers for his intuitive and at times unorthodox style to bring them to the (rather horrifying) solution this time too.

The sex scenes in this book are as hot, powerful, and breath-taking as always. They are (how shall I put it) less prominent in Forever, though. The sex, their scenes, were never the problem. You could say they were the only thing about Hunt & Cam not in need of re-examination. The scenes in this story were perfectly placed though since they happened just when Hunt, Cam, and I needed them most.

Honestly, I could go on Forever (pun totally intended) about this book, Hunt and Cam, and the series as a whole. It is just that good.

Before I finished Forever, I feared that this might be my last encounter with Hunt and Cam. I’m very happy to report that I worried about nothing. There’s more to come and while it may be a little while before we meet again, I rest assured in the knowledge that Hunt and Cam will be back.

Okay.. so, this series as a whole.

It’s was intense.

I’m not sure if I liked everything about it, but I loved it overall. The D/s scenes were almost brutal to me. And I completely understand that this is a choice and a lifestyle and I’m not judging that, just starting my thoughts.

It was sometimes brutal and unnecessary. I felt that the love between them was sometimes missing and absent. I felt one of the MCs cared more about owning and dominating than loving, but I guess that’s the point? It’s all wrapped up together…?

Either way, the story line and plots were awesome, this author goes in-depth and it’s great. I will definitely choose to read more by her.

NOTE: This is the eighth book in this series. It needs to be read in order. Trust me on this. DO NOT read this before book 7. There are major spoilers here for the series and really it won’t make sense without the series context 🙂

Hunt has experienced a traumatic and frightening health event at the end of Book 7, Shadow Men. Now both Hunt and Cam must recover and rebuild. In some respects, they have to go back to the very beginning of their relationship. This story is about about going back to the foundation of these characters and understanding them and individuals and within their relationship and taking it to yet another level. Hunt’s recovery is dependent on Cam and Cam’s whole life is dependent on Hunt. It’s readily apparent that this will be the hardest thing either of them have ever faced – and we know that they’ve been through a lot already. Thankfully there is a lot of support for both men – family, Woodward, doctors, colleagues, etc.

One of the most fascinating characters in this series is Woodward. He is an integral character in Book 7 and continues on in a different capacity in Book 8. I’m hoping in future books we learn even more about this enigmatic character who provides protection and guidance and care to both Cam and Hunter. Every chapter I feel like I learned more about Wood – but the reveal is slow and I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface. Other supporting characters from previous books make surprise appearances as well and I was thrilled to see them 🙂 It’s clear that no one person knows the full Hunter Dane – maybe even Hunter himself. He’s definitely an onion and various layers have been peeled away by different people in his life. He’s such an enigma to so many of even his closest friends and colleagues.

Life and death are moving on while Hunter is dealing with his recovery. Hunter has already had to deal with so much death – both in his personal life and of course as a homicide detective, but he knows he will be called on to support someone else who is going to be facing death soon. One of my favorite past characters makes an appearance here in this storyline and by helping him, Hunter faces who he truly is and what his purpose is. This acceptance and acknowledgement of his power and gifts has a real impact on his recovery and helps him move on.

Parallel to this story, there is of course a case for the Unit. Twee and Merisi and Natani are joined by some new faces. Cory Windsor is a character we met in Book 7 – a former competitor of Cam’s who was a guest at the site of Cam and Hunt’s disastrous honeymoon. Deedee Davidson is a detective who joins the team – along with Ed Chang, a new lieutenant. This new configuration has to learn to work together and it’s fascinating to watch the relationships change and grow. The murder case is sad and heartbreaking and also horrific and maddening. And the layers that are uncovered are also weirdly and disturbingly fascinating. Sadly the circumstances are not far-fetched and in fact mirror actually cases. We get to experience the brilliance of this team and their police work to support the court case and this was very intriguing and eye-opening to me. I think why these “true crime” shows on TV are so compelling and popular 😀

*Sigh* This was just so so so so good. I loved everything about it – even though there are some pretty painful moments, particularly for Hunter. I could not have wished for a better follow up to Book 7. As I stated last year, this series was one of my finds of the year in 2019 and Book 7 is on my top 10 books of 2020. I feel confident that this book will be in my top 10 of 2021, even though it’s early in the year 🙂 Hunt and Cam are definitely one of my favorite couples of all time. I love both characters so very much.

What’s so powerful about this story is how strong the characters are in the face of so much adversity. That strength is reflected in not only all they have accomplished in their lives and in their relationship, but how much growth comes in this book comes through the acceptance of help. Both of these characters have been through a lot in their respective personal lives before they were a couple. While we know much of the story, both men have to dig deep and get very honest about everything if they are going to be able to move forward. That means dealing with pain and loss and despair adn uncertainty. They have each been the rock for the other, but they each also have to figure out how they can make space for themselves individually in their relationship. This is powerful stuff.

I would encourage everyone to read that author’s notes at the end of the book. She assures us that while this is the last book in this particular series, it’s not the last story of Hunt and Cam – they are Forever 😀 I am looking forward to any other stories of this couple and the supporting characters. There are a lot of “loose threads” and dangling storylines here in this book that I believe will lead to more stories – particularly around some of the Unit members and I for one look forward to them. As I stated in my review of Book 7, these characters are worthy of their own books – Merisi and Twee especially are favorites that I’d love to read more about.

I highly recommend this whole series. Absolutely brilliant and compelling and heartbreaking and ultimately hopeful series and one of the most compelling and well-written couples in any genre. Their love story just keeps building and growing in an always fascinating trajectory. Brava!!

Hunt’s hands slid up over his head, a wrenching gasp of a sob. Something sparkled in the light as it fell to the floor. Cam grabbed Hunter by both biceps and dragged him onto his lap, wrapping him, tucking Hunt’s hands between them as he buried his face in Cam’s chest, still shamed by his tears and his weakness. Cam cradled him like a child and kissed the top of his head. “I have you.”

🥺🥺🥺

Now that I've finished the whole series I'd like to note a few things. I'm definitely going to miss Cam and Hunter. 🥺 I loved their unusual dynamic so damn much and how their relationship seemed so real with its highs and lows, the intimate moments, the fights, the conversations,, how they complemented each other so perfectly.

Loved it all.

Especially how Cam is 12 years younger than Hunter and they are both Alpha males (as the author repeatedly states) and Cam is the one who takes charge, who commands Hunter in the bedroom and tops him, cares for him, breaks him and puts him back together, like a true Dom/sadist, while in real life Hunter protects Cam from any danger.

My issue is that.. I needed so much more of all this.

There were parts where Cam would say that they'd go to their BDSM club together and they'd scene as master and slave and Cam would tie Hunter up so that he's helpless and all for Cam to use... And then we'd never get to read that scene. They had so many good ideas of things to do and it felt like the author teased us with it and never gave us what promised. (The smut was so much better in the first books).

Instead I had to read entire parts with Twee and Merisi -_- All I wanted was so much more of Hunter and Cam that I did not care one bit about the rest of the characters, I just wish the whole book was about these two. I don't understand why the author had to write whole segments with "the Unit" without the two MCs. That's the only issue I have with these books. Too many details through the "mystery" plot, too little of the good stuff.

But maybe its just me. Maybe I'm too thirsty. xd

Spoiler Alert - Only way to talk about it

A full 5 stars? Absolutely!

Will I reread (my personal criteria for 5 stars)? Yes, when I reread the series. In fact, I will probably reread immediately to better understand all of the psychological layers.

Does this book stand alone? Absolutely not, and the author says that, so take heed.

This book is hard to review as it's not a normal story with a beginning and an end. Yes, there is a case for the unit to solve, but it is a side story. This story is a transition -- a transition for the main characters, Hunt and Cam; for the unit, for their friends, for the club, for every part of their lives. It's a metamorphosis of Hunt personally and with his relationship with Cam. It is complex and full of angst, and at times I had to put it down.

As always, Adira August delves deeply into the psyche of her characters, especially Hunter. It is a story that these characters needed, for Hunt and Cam to truly, honestly have their HEA. It is a continuation for these two that I didn't know was needed, and now can't imagine it not being told for these characters to have a future.

This author is an auto-buy for me and I look forward to all the upcoming books she has planned. More Hunt and Cam!!!!

Forever........without ever ending, eternally: to last forever !!!!!!

Hunt & Cam continue with the utter most intense period of their relationship, in a series unlike anything else I'd ever read and quickly became addicted to.

Adira August is a fantastic writer, having the ability to pull us into a story and keep us there until the very end, by delivering one amazing storyline after another.

This book will go way past boundaries of any expectation the reader may have from following the series.

Forever is not a comfortable read, the revelations throughout this book will shock, confuse and even enrage the reader. Forever will keep the reader throughly engaged throughout, mind constantly thinking..... how.....why.....

Forever will literally blow your mind, it sucks you in so effortlessly, its unique, its thought provoking, its unpredictable, its gripping, its heartbreaking.

The explosive chemistry, of Hunt & Cam, the intriguing storyline, the secrets revealed, the complexity of the relationship, their addiction for each other, the absolute need for ....forever.

This has got to be Adira August delivering her best work yet, with her unique style of execution, that gives us an edgy, gripping, emotion wrecking, genius of a novel.

This is the eighth book in a series which gets stronger with every book. The prior book ended with a cliffhanger and I was very happy to finally find out what happened. Hunter Dane suffered a medical emergency in the last book. This book actually picks up a couple of scenes prior to where the last book ended which was very cool as we got more of the story. This book is about dealing with trauma, grief and depression. Cam is not sure how to help Hunter and is seeing a therapist to try to deal with his own issues. While Hunter is on leave from work, a new leader is placed in the Unit. The case was interesting and seeing the team try to re-make itself was also interesting. For me the most engaging part was the journey that Hunt an Cam were on. I'm so glad the author honored her promise of Hunt + Cam 4ever and that there will be additional books. The hard work and honesty that spurred the character development was great to read. I love the two main characters. Woodward was also wonderful.

Seriously-READ THIS SERIES

I know, I know. Who am I and why should you believe me? I understand, I do. And I do not take the skepticism personally. I am not a great reviewer, I don’t have fabulous descriptive phrases or magnificent ideas. This series though- this series!!! Do yourself a favor and try the first one at least. It will introduce two complex, fascinating MCs and hotter than hell BDSM. And then? Well, if they speak to you like they do to me, then Hunter and Cam will take you on a journey where you will not be able to catch your breath. For all 8 books. I promise. Here’s to more books with these two- I myself can.not.wait.

I'm so sad this series is over. I love Hunt and Cam. This book really tested the strength of their relationship. Both of them were dealing with so much, especially Hunt. I absolutely loved Wood! What a wonderful, loyal, strong man who was there each step of the way during Hunt's emotional recovery. I would love to read more about him.

I loved this series

I couldn't put down these books. I bought one after the other because I had to know what would happen to characters I felt so connected to. Hopefully there will be more and I will happily buy them.

"That's everything I want: to get through to the end of every day and still find ourselves together."

With the way the last book ended I've been dying for more in Hunt & Cams story. Hunt has to work through some heavy and personal demons and Cam is there for him every step of the way. I was pleased with the way this book ended. It didn't wrap things up in a nice bow but left their relationship in a good place.

The murder the Unit had to solve without the help of Hunt & Cam was an interesting one. The  members of the Unit have really grown on me . Especially a recent addition named C? Really grew on my in this one, and I'm looking forward to seeing his character grow.

You won't know if it works until you try...

I barely remember the ending of the last book. Or maybe I should say I remember the feeling so vividly I had to repress it to "get over" the book. Basically, in that last scene, more then here, funnily enough, everything has been turned on it's head. It all changed. It's like starting anew. And it seems dramatic usually but here? It simply feels like true.

The author took everything she had build... and smashed it all to pieces. She took expectations and patterns and she took the shiny LEGO space station she has been building for 7 books (a.k.a the BDSM detective romance about two very unique and strong men) and she threw it out of the window.

That's how it felt. Like being surrounded by some heaps of what we though we knew and try to, pieces by pieces, see what can be done to find that complete picture again. Or maybe it was more like a puzzle (still not sure), taking two pieces and trying to fit them together and realizing they no longer match, try another one and another one as long as it takes, not knowing the whole picture, though the feelings when you finally try and they FIT? Like a mini silent mind explosion. BOOM go the expectations. Theirs and yours.

Or maybe puzzle is too specific and visible. Maybe it was really more like those LEGO pieces when you're trying to get those green blocks and blue ones and pink ones and don't know you're maybe building a castle or a boat when you have no manual, just pieces - pieces of characters and pieces of wished and wants and needs and trying to... hoping it will make sense again.

It's brave. Dangerous and maybe crazy and maybe it was all planned but it was brave. And, fortunately for me, simply INTRIGUING.

This one is very different from what I have come to expect. But the author's talent has come out on top and I think that what is being build now should be even better than what was before. She doesn't seem to mind breaking the rules (the characters do tend to do what they want, I know) and as she pointed out, this is not a "romance" - the series is not about, does not end after the two come together and dance into the sunset.

The detective part was, in this one, fully represented by the rest of the team. And, a miracle of miracles, I actually didn't mind. The story is weaving between their personal life and the more traditional investigation (with lot of new stuff) and I, surprisingly, only felt they make each other better.

Probably the only problem I had in the whole book was the therapist element. Now, see, I think therapists are kind of like sex or parents or teenagehood - they have quite a few rules of representation. Characters practice safe intercourse (or explain why they ditched the rubbers), the teenagers obey the parents (or it's explained how these parents are bad and negligent)... Therapists? The same. They're either seen as a very natural (even when they resist) part of a healing process, their help an integral part that has a lot of power (or they're useless until you find that one therapist who is actually genius in which case number one still applies, actually).

The representation here...? It was different and yet it was not and when Hunter got better and he had done that... one thing (to not spoiler) it still made me unhappy about it. So first the therapist spouts some deep, hard trusts that are actually coming to fruition and then when they're not needing, she's kind of... lessened, if I can call it that. I am not sure I liked her when she was spouting the "you're seriously on thin ice, you have to do this and that" - which was in direct opposition of many things established up to that point - and to end it like that...?

Anyway, when the author feels okay to continue, I'd be happily waiting to here more (though I am not sure I would pick up the solely Unit books, without any Hunter or Cam).

This is a very specific subgenre so it's definitely not for everyone but I am more than happy about it and gladly, heartily recommend. The whole series.

(P.S: Yes, there is some intimacy. Of the naked kind as well. It's new and not and just fits.)

So...you had to have read #7 to make any sense of this next installment. In fact, if you can, read one right after the other. I had read #7 some time ago, and had a whole lot of reviewing to do...

Anyway...

Following the horrific events that occurred during their disastrous honeymoon, and the even more extreme craziness that came after, the story opens with Hunt facing a very steep climb out of the depths of clinical depression, and Cam's frantic efforts to support and care for him, amidst fears that Hunt will recover and then to leave him. Hunter is confronting the possibility of a future that doesn't include the police work that has defined him. But....even as Cam and Hunt navigate the new dynamics of their relationship, Hunt's Unit is tasked with finding a murderer in an insular immigrant community. Will Hunt and Cam get drawn back into old habits????

So...there's two stories here. The first, and most intense, is, of course, all about Hunt's recovery from the daunting events that precipitated his heart problems, and the dark depression that follows. You get a real sense of the despair and hopelessness that envelope people suffering from depression, and the courage and resources necessary for recovery. Luckily for Hunt, he's got Cam in his corner, and Wood, who's actually QUITE an interesting character. Even Cam has some tough times here as he must confront the fact that there are things he cannot control, as well as some tough reflections on how he accepts the inevitable changes in his relationship with Hunt.

The second story, the murder investigation, is interesting, if rather perfunctory. We meet all our favorite characters again: Merisi, Twee, Natani..and are introduced to a few ones as well.

And speaking of new characters....Wood needs his own story!!

Then there's the rather mystifying left-turn that the story takes toward the end. Hunt's Native American heritage has been a common thread through all the books, but takes a more central role here..And..nothing wrong with that...except here it seems very un-Hunt-ish...just very unexpected and weirdly jarring.

But...I LOVE these guys!!!

I struggled with this one. On the one hand, I loved it. Especially the first part, diving really hard into the vulnerable aspect of the relationship, completely taking it apart. On the other hand, I feel like we didn't get to see that many changes happening yet, after they slowly rebuilt the relationship. Also, I don't really know what to think about the whole situation with The Unit. I can understand it, definitely. I even feel happy for Cam and Hunt because I know everything would have probably led to the same thing happening again if they wouldn't have made this decision, or specifically Hunt. But on the other hand everything you came to love about The Unit in the other books won't be there anymore... But I'll guess we just have to see what Adira August's plans for those two are in the future (she does mention that she has plans). Also: I haven't read The Interrogation yet, because I thought I'd finish the series first. Now I cannot read it, because it plays before this book, and the characters are at completely different points. I'll have to wait a while. But I definitely will read. it.
Dear awesome author: thank you for this amazing series, I enjoyed it A LOT.

I had to give myself a few days before I read this book, because I knew I'd be in for a world of hurt and intensity. As with every book before it, I felt the feelings with the characters and their struggle to know what was going on with themselves.

Hunter breaks my heart. I appreciated the spot on descriptions of depression/trauma/grief and what was happening in his head. For me, he is the heart of these books and I couldn’t rest knowing whether or not he would be okay.

Camden figuring everything out and just trying to be the best him. I felt his surety just as Hunter did. I loved his willingness to be a little vulnerable and work through these feelings. Camden is, after all, the other half of what makes these books stand out for me.

Forever. Forever is all I wanted. I didn’t have near as many tears in this book. I think my therapist brain really loved absorbing their process together.

The team… every one of them are a damn gem. I loved the new additions. I loved the way the future looks for everyone and I’m so very glad they were still a part of this story.

Hunt & Cam Forever... I’ll always be there with them.

I’m at peace.....

I read Shadow Men yesterday...and immediately started Forever.
I had ordered them when they were released, but life kept getting in the way, and I knew I would want to read both together. I’m so glad that I did.
This is not my lifestyle, or even one that I condone, call me old fashioned. But I felt these people in my heart. Ms August gave me people I cared about. Deeply. They cared about each other. (The main characters, obviously, not the bad guys, or some of the peripheral characters met on the road).
These are folks that just wanted to do good, take care of each other, make things better for those that couldn’t quite do it for themselves. They wanted to DO good, ‘cause it was the right thing. Not for recognition, or because it was easy or convenient. These are people I want in my life. And when THEY hurt, I’d like to be there to hold their hand, give a hug, a cup of cocoa.
They were REAL...and I totally understand that HUNTER told Addi his story. Well done, Ms August
I await further adventures.

Addi does it again, brings Hunt and Cam to life

I can picture Hunt stretching, Cam playing with Hunts hair flop, Wood sitting on top of the coffee table, she absolutely breathes life into these characters where I can absolutely picture their movements as I read, not many authors have that much talent. I cried so much throughout this book and anxiously hoped that they would make it to the end whole and healthy. I worried for Twee and came to fully understand why Hunt hired and gave Cory a chance, because Hunt keeps things hidden and is a very wise man. I think Natani said something like the universe puts people in Hunt's path. I cannot wait to see what happens and I look forward to whatever book Adira August writes next. And omg, did Hunt actually say 'our children'... these characters are intense and omg, solving that murder, I will always want more and can't wait to see what life holds next for Hunt and Cam

So much emotion

I love these books, when a new one is released my family knows not to pester me for a night while I devour the book in one sitting.

I'm such a sap and not sure a can write a worthy critic of the book right now, Hunt & Cam and the rest of the team feel like family and I'm so pleased this isn't the end of the line for them. But, on the other hand, I'm beyond worried that future books will bring their story one step closer to Cam's illness claiming him and I don't want to have to think about coping with that eventuality...I want Hunt&Cam4Ever and nothing else will do!

Last ditch attempt at a 'proper' albeit mini review....the investigative and forensic detail was spot on as usual, making this a page-turner for that aspect alone. But, it was the foray into the depths of Hunt's tortured mind and Cam's pain at not being able to alleviate that for Hunt that had me boo-ing into my pillow until 4.40am. Their forever love got them through this time.

This is really two books in one. The follow-up to the cliffhanger Hunt and Cam leave us with in the previous book, and a brand-new case for the new composition of the Unit to solve. There is not much overlap between the two, and if I ever re-read this book, I imagine I'll actually skip the mystery bit (as much as I adore those secondary characters). However, the conclusion to the love story that is Cam and Hunt is everything I could have hoped for, even when it's not an easy read. I look forward to revisiting these characters in the follow-up series August has planned.

Loved it!

This was not an easy book to read. When strong people buckle, it is hard to watch. I had faith that things would work out but was worried about what it would cost them. My initial reactions are relief and satisfaction. I need to read something else and come back to this again to really know what I think.

A fitting end to the series. I am so happy that it is not the end of Hunt & Cam!

Hard truths

I think out of all the books In the series this was the most emotional for me. Cam and Hunt are one of my favorite couples. But this was something very different for them. Both men are always taking care of others ,but this time they had to turn the microscope on themselves. And what will that mean for their relationship. What will that mean for the team.I liked the way this book ended. What will this new future look like.I can't wait to see.

I feel a bit shell shocked. The journey was a tough one. My heart broke for Hunt and Cam at times. The struggle was so real and so…heart wrenching. I aches for them both. Their love is beautiful and bright. I loved how their story unfolded. And I loved the team working the case while Hunt and Cam got to focus on themselves and heal and grow. I can’t wait for more Hunt and Cam and to see what comes next.

Adira August does it again. I fell in love with Hunt & Cam on the opening pages of Matchstick Men; my love for them has not changed. Book 8 is more about Hunt & Cam, their lives, their lies, their love, them. This book is the perfect ending for this incredible series.

Poignant

I’ve read the whole series and this was a fulfilling ending. To see a strong man break and rebuild felt like a glimpse into something so private. This series is so much more than BDSM. It is two men who connect, fight the odds, break a bit, and learn from it to grow stronger. It was a beautiful read.

I can't begin to describe how I felt reading this book--it was a very intense book and I loved every minute of it. To anyone starting this series it needs to be read in order. Each book leads to the next. Characters are endearing and sometimes frustrating--storylines are always exciting. Definitely recommend reading this book. I couldn't put it down--I finished it about 4 in the morning.

So very very good!

OMG. Love Hunter and Cam. Love this story of the two of them trying to figure everything out after Hunt's collapse. This is one of favorite couples that I have ever read. The writing style of Adira August is above any other. I own this series and will re-read it forever. I can say that I am excited to see what is next for Hunter and Cam.

Hunt and Cam

I loved this book even though I wish there were more to this series. I just think that there should be more. Hunt and Cam should have a time where they have fun being married instead of solving crimes all the time. Though the whole series was wonderfully written but I also think that it should be done in an audio version.

EMOTIONAL

*REREAD BOOK 7 FIRST!*

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! This book was so emotional. It had a lot of sensitive topics that I feel was handled so well. I won't give details as anything could be a spoiler but if you've read the series, YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
