Bree Bracelyn doesn’t date cops. That’s a problem, since I am one. Also, I might be in love with her.

But Bree’s got a secret I can’t figure out. Most folks lace up their goody two-shoes around cops, but Bree’s don’t fit quite right. There’s a story there, but she’s guarding it like a tiger with a pet zebra.

And yeah, I know the guy jockeying for police chief should steer clear of a woman with skeletons in her closet, but I can’t stay away. I’ll find any excuse to visit the resort she owns with her siblings, even trotting out my charming pup, Virginia Woof. I’m not proud.

Between hot springs hookups and grope-fests in my car, Bree’s breaking her no-cops rule six ways to Sunday, and I’m grateful. But what’ll it take to coax out her secret and convince her I’m not here to slap the cuffs on her?

Not unless she asks me to.

Sergeant Sexypants is book three in the Ponderosa Resort Romantic Comedies series by Tawna Fenske. I adore this series so much. I have been so excited for Bree’s book and it was wonderful. And if you haven’t read this yet, just wait until you meet the sexy police officer, Austin. Stand back everyone because he’s mine!!

Bree Bracelyn is the only female sibling, with I’m still not sure how many brothers, or half brothers I should say. Their dad was quite active and each sibling has a different mother, none really knowing each other until their dad’s death. Their father left them the ranch and all the siblings went in together to make it into a fancy resort. Bree is the Vice President of Marketing and Events. She is smart, sweet, loved by all of her brothers, and she also has a secret.

Sergeant Austin Dugan has just gotten his promotion to lieutenant for the Bend police department and is said to be a shoe in for Police Chief in the upcoming election. He’s a sexy, live by the rules man who loves working for the police department.

Bree and Austin’s meeting is my favorite. That first glance that just leaves you speechless, when all thoughts just fly out of your head. When you can practically see the sparks when they touch for the first time. But there is one tiny problem. Bree claims she never ever dates police officers.

These two were just so cute and fun together. I loved everything about them. But all of Bree’s different names for Austin had me laughing out loud! What I loved the absolute most about this was Austin and his quiet determination to win Bree over. Also, the way he dealt with one particular resident that needed some reprimanding had me swooning! He just had that gift of making someone see things his way! He knew that Bree was supposed to be his. And just wait to see what this wonderful man does. Prepare to swoon!

I decided to go right on to book four, Hottie Lumberjack, Bree’s brother, Mark’s book. I mean, a huge, broody man that carries an axe and wears flannel?! Yes please!

Favorite Quotes:

I’m a noble kinda guy… My sisters used to joke that I have a lousy sense of direction because my brain’s entire navigational system is made up of moral compass.

One second I’m standing there talking with him about the finer points of sunset dining, and the next second I’m polishing his tonsils with my tongue. I don’t know what happened.

I laugh at the idea of my mother having a job. “She marries rich men with commitment issues, then takes them to the cleaners when they cheat.”

I hold my breath like a teenager watching his first skin flick, praying someone doesn’t show up and change the channel.

My Review:

Going by the title and cover shot you would expect this book to be corny erotica – wrong. It was actually a cleverly amusing and sweet romance with thoughtful and sensitive storylines and some extra fun and spicy bits as a bonus. I adored these endearing and smirk-worthy characters. Written in my favorite dual POV, I was enamored and fully engaged from start to finish. I dove into the series at book three with no difficulties following the plot, although I covet more time with the other characters and am scheming to find a time machine or just possibly revamp my calendar to include extra days so I can read the earlier installments, as well as every other book this crafty wordsmith has cranked out. But I’m greedy like that when I stumble upon treasure. I wants them all!

It's a me thing, I guess, I don't really like Fenske's LE or military heroes. I enjoy her writing if I'm feeling it, but this was a struggle.

And. Some of the scenarios here would feel traumatic to people, but it isn't written with that lens-indeed no LE books are. A couple abuses of power here for fun...a couple of disciplinary actions get handwaved there...

Anyway, I stopped reading when the hero decides to fully fix the heroine by giving her closure. First, yawn. Second, ew.

I'll keep reading the series bc it's quick, fun and flirty, but I'll likely skip Fenske's heroes in certain professions.

Author Tawna Fenske offers up heart and humor in Sergeant Sexypants, the second book in the Ponderosa Ranch Romantic comedies series. This series centers around siblings brought together after their father’s death determined to make his Oregon ranch a luxury hotspot for weddings and more. In this book the only female sibling finds it hard to keep the town’s sexy hot cop soon to be chief at arm’s length knowing he could possibly find out the secret she’s kept more than a decade and one that could tarnish the resort’s image.

Bracelyn and Austin’s chemistry is off the charts from the time they meet, but she immediately turns him away citing she doesn’t date law enforcement officers. Austin finds ways to see her and Bree can’t seem to resist him and they soon find themselves enjoying each other’s company and more.

I really enjoyed watching their relationship blossom and the fact that Bree was worried about how Austin’s career could be hurt by his association with her. While she grew up privileged it was easy to see that she had a great appreciation for the life she has now and a heart of gold. Austin was just a sweet guy who always tries to do the right thing. He went above and beyond to help Bree put her past behind her so she could enjoy the life she has now.

Filled with fun times, sexy times, and a few serious moments to balance it out, I loved Sergeant Sexypants!

“I have a ridiculously huge collection of flatware I got from my mother. I don’t know why I still have it, but you can come to me anytime you want a fork.”
Shit. Did that sound filthy?

Another absolute winner from Tawna Fenske, Sergeant Sexypants is a charming, funny and wry addition to the Ponderosa Ranch series of romantic comedies.

I love reading this author’s books for the simple reason that they read fast, have a whole lot of a heart, a great deal of heat, and invariably make me laugh and smile. It’s a feel good experience from start to finish, and although Bree and Austin have to hit that necessary bump in the road, I can’t think of a single moment where my grin dimmed while reading this book.

My greatest joy, however, is the fact that Bree still has beaucoups of brothers that we can meet, starting with Mark, the Hottie Lumberjack, who's *ahem* coming in March, and ending Lord only knows where. I’m totally fine with it never ending, TBH, which was, incidentally, something that crossed my mind more than once while reading Sergeant Sexypants.

“You know this can’t work, right?”
“I wouldn’t have kidnapped you if I believed that.”

Excuse me while I go break a law, because if it gets me arrested by Austin, it would be totally worth risking jail time. Normally, I'm all about a good Bad Boy hero, but Tawna Fenske has succeeded admirably in demonstrating the merits of a Truly Good Guy. Most romance readers will tell you sexy is good, but Austin proves the inverse: good can be sexy. His relationship with Bree--one of my favorites of Fenske's heroines--sizzles!

As always with books from this author, the laughter and heat make for an irresistible combination. If you're in need of a good mental vacation, I heartily recommend booking time at the Ponderosa Resort!

So ... I started this, then put it down, but then - I'm incurably curious so I HAD to know what" The Big Secret" was ... and I couldn't find any spoilers so I read/skimmed until it and 😒😒😒😒

So ... I mean I'm not the average bear reader [hah!] in general, but especially someone who deals with juvenile justice so ... [because - and I don't think it's a spoiler - OBVIOUSLY it was something that happened in Bree's past.]
I wanted to read this book because of how adorable Mark and Chelsea's book was and how Bree and Austin were portrayed - and then how Bree was in the ~first two books.

Gosh I'm so glad this wasn't the first book I read or I'd never have read the others.

There is cute humor and sexual chemistry is there - although the "oops I keep falling into your lips and we keep kissing how does that even happen?! teehee" annoyed me.

... :X now I'm even more apprehensive about James' book which makes me sad because while already the premise is :| for me I love when too tightly buttoned up dudes lose their hearts and their minds. ... so ... ugh. 😬

I’ve read and enjoyed a number of books by Tawna, but once in a while a story doesn’t work for me and this is one of those stories.

I really like the set of characters in this Ponderosa Resort series and, having had a brief glimpse of Bree in “Studmuffin Santa”, I was eager to read more about her and Austin. Although the story had the heat and humor that one expects from Tawna’s books, it kind of felt like there wasn’t really a story there.

Austin is a well-developed character in this book and he and Bree are attracted right off the bat. They get together quickly and the only fly in the ointment is Bree’s past, which she doesn’t want him to know about. We’re told Austin is a “does everything right and by the book” kind of guy, and Bree worries that her past would hurt his image if anyone knew about. Fair enough. It apparently doesn’t bother her enough though to either man-up and tell him, or to put an end to their relationship.

What really bothered me is that Bree doesn’t tell him about her past until Austin runs a background check on her and finds out (which I’m pretty sure is a mis-use of police resources and not something an “always do the right thing” guy should do). He confronts her and then goes off and does what he can to reduce the guilt she feels about what happened. At no point does Bree actually have any agency of her own. She doesn’t take the initiative about telling her secret and she doesn’t take any action to deal with / work through her past. I really would have liked the story much more if Bree had been a more active participant.

YAY!!! We get the hot cop’s story with book 3 of the Ponderosa Resort series!!!

Bree Bracelyn is the only sister of all the siblings who are running the Ponderosa Ranch…and she doesn’t date cops, but she is harboring a secret!
Austin Dugan (AKA…Officer Yummylicious, Chief Studly, Officer Hot Hands…) is a sergeant in the police force, almost lieutenant, and on track to be the youngest police chief in the history of the town.

The banter between Bree and Austin is hilarious!!! The job change part had me laughing so hard I had tears! Tawna…OMG! Thank you! I needed a good laugh!!! I knew I could count on you and that you wouldn’t let me down (not that you ever have!). I love how Author Tawna Fenske included serious issues in this book as well. As is with all Tawna’s books, this one flows smoothly, has a great story, a secret, a resolution, intimate scenes, FANTASTIC characters, and humor! This series is a must read!!!

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 out of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have read all three books of this series and I have to say this is my favorite so far! We always read about the tortured man, or the one that's a bit of an asshole and we tend to shrug and nod. Well, let me introduce you to Austin Dugan. Hot, dedicated, AND a good guy? Did we somehow win the book boyfriend lottery? I feel like we did. Did I mention he loves dogs? *Swoon*

I was expecting to laugh with this book because after all, it IS in the romantic comedy genre. I was expecting to find some yummy sex scenes, because, duh? However, I was not expecting to go Awwww! *heart melts*. And I think that right there is what makes Sergeant Sexypants so successful for me. This book checks every single checkmark I have when it comes to romance novels. Funny? Check! Sexy? Check! Heart-melting? Check!! Enough reality as to not make it ridiculous? Check!

Austin and Bree click from the get-go. However, when the skeletons in Bree's closet threaten to drown her and ruin what she found with Austin, he finds a way to help her come face to face with her past and find closure. There are some serious obstacles in the way,
but they find a way to make it work. Is there anything more romantic than that? I think not! I wholeheartedly recommend this book and give it an enthusiastic five out of five!

Sergeant Sexypants is the third delightful book in the Ponderosa Resort Romantic Comedies series.

I fell in love with Tawna's Rom Com's after reading her wonderful Assassin in Love series, Killer Instincts. It has the right mix of humour, angst, trouble, heartache, insecurities, haunted pasts, and longing. I laughed and sighed my way through the book as our couples come together with hope in their hearts.

This delightful book has big tough men brought to their knees by sassy women. But there are moments of tension and suspense to give the story another layer.

I can't wait to read more.

The Ponderosa Resort series continues with Sergeant Sexypants.  The previous two books featured the two women running the reindeer ranch hooking up with guys involved in the Ponderosa Resort. Now the resort is just opening for business.

Bree is the sole female of the Bracelyn relatives involved in the resort and the head of marketing.  Her half brothers are the chef Sean, the maintenance man Mark, and the lawyer James.  We get to know the brothers only a little but Sean was a main character in Chef Sugarlips so we know him already.

The Bracelyns mostly did not live here growing up but only came to visit sporadically.   Bree's past is one of being in boarding school, mostly ignored by her parents.    At the open house for the resort, Bree meets Austin Dugan who is a sergeant with the local PD and his father is sheriff in the county.  They are very attracted but Bree has an aversion to cops.

Austin is a golden boy, almost too perfect.  He is the only boy among sisters.  He is kind, honest, hard-working and fast rising in his career.  He does manage to be patient with Bree and works to show her he can be trusted.  I cried with what he did for her to relieve her teenage guilt.

I read about 50 pages of Sargeant Sexypants by Tawna Fenske. This is finalist in the contemporary mid-length category. It is 3rd in a series but could be a read alone.

Bree Bracelyn works at her family's resort in Oregon, and they are just getting ready to open. She has a hard and fast "no dating cops" rule, but she meets local police officer Austin Dugan and it's clear they are attracted to each other. Austin is a stickler for the rules. He's about to be promoted to lieutenant, but refuses to answer to his new title until the ink is dry. He definitely doesn't like everyone assuming he'll be the next Sheriff just because his father (the current sheriff) is about to retire. I was very interested in this because it bills itself as romantic comedy, which is something we all need more of these days.

Pluses: Austin has a nice relationship with his Dad, and it's kind of cute how the Dad plays matchmaker. Austin is into her, and I always like that. The humor is mostly "kooky small town charm."For example, one of Austin's elementary school teacher wants to make a "hot cops" calendar. Bree has a litany of nicknames like "Srgt. Sexypants" and "Captain Tastycakes." I don't know if people will find it funny.

Wishes: There's no subtlety here. Austin proudly notes he's a total stickler for the rules, and Bree's "no cops" rule isn't because of a bad ex-, or not wanting a partner in danger--it's because she fears their deductive prowess. She's hiding something, but it wasn't compelling.

Here's where I DNFd: Austin & his Dad (the Sheriff), are at breakfast. They see a high-school girl outside & the Sheriff asks Austin to follow his lead. He gets up in her face and accuses her being a weapons terrorist. Austin knows it's some kind of stunt but goes along with it. The Sheriff mentions taking her to jail, talks about calling it in, tells her to open the trunk. But LOL, it's just a Promposal-type thing and a boy arrives with a "you've arrested my heart" sign. The boy's Dad works on the force and asked the Sheriff to do this bc it's cute! Sorry, but there is nothing cute about terrorizing teenage girls, and I feel like I shouldn't even really have to point out that only white people would even think this "fake arrest" scenario was at all charming or amusing in the first place.

Verdict: DNF

I don't think this book had been intended to be anything more than readable fluff and it met its purpose sufficiently. After the 25% mark, I knew my rating was never going to be higher than 2 stars anyway (I hate myself for not being able to DNF a book), but then I hit the climax of the story (at the 78% mark).

The heroine comes clean about a teenage indiscretion , which puts her in a bad light and has been the source of her guilt for all these years. That was sort of a good twist on the perfect life she now has. It gave her a flaw. And we like characters with real flaws, don't we?

But that is spoilt a page later when it turns out the flaw isn't real, after all . It made me so annoyed and exasperated. I don't know why some authors always want to keep their main characters pure and perfect. Maybe it was just the easy way to finish the book.

And now that this review is written, I can remove this ebook from my library and make room for better ones.

I didn't care for this book. It's supposedly a romcom but I didn't even crack a smile. There was nothing fun or funny in this book, but if you're into weird flirting and dry humor (it was all in the first 50 pages of the book) then have at it. I found the book to be boring, there's practically no drama. It's definitely no character development. Austin is pretty much perfect and Bree has this guilt you wonder what it is throughout the whole book. But once I found out, I wanted to throw the book because it was so ridiculous. The writing is great, but I just did not like there characters or the story.

If you are looking for a fun and sexy rom-com: THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!

Bree played a big part in the other books in this series so I was thrilled to get her story. Bree is such a strong character and yet she is hiding so much. Austin is....perfect! He's a great guy with a huge heart. He falls hard for Bree which I really loved! Add in a fantastic epilogue and this book was definitely a five star read for me.

I really love this series and can not wait to read Mark's story!!

Not many authors can capture this ADD personality. Tawna Fenske's novels are never boring. Sergent Sexypants can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the three novels that lead up to Bree's story. Bree's backstory is beautifully written and heartwrenching...Sergent Sexypants, Austin, is just the person who helps overcome her walls and fears.

I'd rate this 4.5 starts but enjoyed it enough to round it up. This was another, short, sweet story based around the Pondersosa Resort where the wealthy go to experience the wilderness but in 5 star surroundings. This novel focusses on Bree, the sister of the many Bracelyn brothers that feature in the other books in the series. If you haven't read the other books, you don't need to in order to enjoy this one. I haven't quite gotten through them yet or read them in order and apart from a few referrals to relationships that feature in the other books, the stories can be read as standalones. In Sergeant Sexypants, we're introduced to Austin, a local cop who's destined for big things career-wise and wants Bree in his life. The only problem? Bree's supposedly strict rule on not dating law enforcement.

Bree and Austin meet at a Resort gathering and they're both immediately attracted to each other. Bree constantly refers to an incident in her past that she's ashamed of and in order to avoid reliving a bad time in her past as well as embarrass a potential lover, she avoids dating police. Austin doesn't give up that easily and steadily worms his way into her life and heart with a good dash of steam. Yeah, there's also a good dash of instalove, but it was done in a cute, fun way and both characters were extremely likeable for me so it was forgivable.

Austin came across as a delicious boy next door type: charming, well-mannered, liked by everyone with clean cut looks and perfect behaviour. Phrases such as 'holy marshmallows, she's stunning' at the start of the book had me liking him immediately. Bree was also a solid character, coming across as lonely, but trying really hard to overcome her social awkwardness and poor little rich girl past that came from having no friends and two selfish, borderline cold parents. I spent most of the book feeling sorry for her with my only annoyance being the constant referral to the unspeakable past deed that we're not allowed to know until much later in the book. I get why authors do this, mainly to keep the readers interest on the hook, but it still frustrated me as it felt like there was a gap in the story that was frequently alluded to.

As I expect with this author, the humour in this book in on point and had me smiling frequently. I loved the nicknames that Bree would call Austin in her head (Sergeant Sexypants, Officer Hot Stuff, etc.) and their dialogue was witty and sweet. As I mentioned above, their love story is a quick one with Austin being sure she's the one early on. Fenske is one of my favourite authors as I find she can pull it off successfully while keeping the story cute and playful but with enough depth that I'm left satisfied.

While the plot was predictable, it's still an enjoyable read and a light, feel good story that's a great palate cleanser or a good choice if you want something easy, funny and with a happy ever after. Without giving anything away, Bree's past problems are resolved (almost too neatly that it nearly travelled into cheesy territory). The only tiny negative that readers might have is that the price is a little steep for a shorter read, but I love this author so it's a non-issue for me.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 26, 2018

Bree Bracelyn doesn’t date cops. It’s a personal rule that quavers when Austin Dugan flashes his baby blues—and his badge—at Ponderosa Resort’s grand opening. Bree’s the family fixer, running the resort’s PR and her siblings’ lives with cheerful efficiency. But one thing in Bree’s past can’t ever be fixed, which is why she’s staying the hell away from Officer Hottie.

Austin’s heart tacks up a wanted poster with Bree’s name the instant he lays eyes on her. Okay, the no-cops rule is an obstacle, but not impossible for a guy ambitious enough to be a shoo-in as the next police chief. Besides, he knows Bree’s into him, whether they’re flirting over weird flatware or getting frisky in the front seat of his vintage Volvo.

As Bree and Austin bond over cupcakes and hot springs hookups, Bree knows it’s a matter of time before the skeletons in her closet topple into a messy heap on Austin’s squeaky-clean life. Is there hope for a happy ending, or will their love end up DOA?

•••••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--SERGEANT SEXYPANTS is the third instalment in Tawna Fenske’s contemporary, adult PONDEROSA RESORT ROMANTIC COMEDIES romance series focusing on the Bracelyn siblings. This is marketing and PR director Bree Bracelyn, and Sargeant Austin Dugan’s story line. SERGEANT SEXYPANTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Eighteen months earlier the Bracelyn patriarch died leaving his children a rather hefty inheritance including and a large tract of land they have developed into a high-end resort for the rich and famous. Half-siblings at best, the Bracelyn’s build friendships and relationships with neighbors and one another.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bree and Austin) SERGEANT SEXYPANTS follows the building relationship between marketing and PR director Bree Bracelyn, and Sargeant Austin Dugan. The grand opening for the Ponderosa Luxury Resorts welcomed the whose who of Central Oregon including Sheriff John Dugan, and his son Sergeant Austin Dugan but Bree wanted nothing to do with law enforcement including the man who pushed all of her buttons. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bree and Austin, and the potential fall-out as Bree keeps secret a past that may push Austin out of her life.

The relationship between Bree and Austin is one of immediate attraction; a sweet, fun and sexy romance with moments of emotional break down with memories from the past. All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting characters .

SERGEANT SEXYPANTS is heart warming, flirty and engaging story line. The premise is imaginative; the characters are sassy and spirited; the romance is passionate and intimate.

What a fun, sexy, heartwarming, "can't put it down" romance book.

Austin Dugan is definitely a sexy cop and the ladies of town are persistently trying to get him to take off his clothes in the name of charity. Austin is a by-the-books type of guy and vetting to be chief of police so there is no way he is doing anything to put that at jeopardy.

Bree Bracelyn is one of the wealthy siblings running The Ponderosa Resort. Bree is the only girl of the very large group of siblings of which none share the same mother. Their father was a very "loving" man or rather loved to share himself with others. The siblings all inherited the land and decided to join forces to create this wonderful resort. Bree had a very difficult although pampered childhood and there are things in her past she doesn't want anyone to find out about not even her brothers.

When Austin is attending the open house at the resort and sees Bree for the first time he is instantly attracted to her. Austin knows he is hot although he doesn't strut it but when Bree turns him down for a date he is surprised and determined to win her over. Bree doesn't date cops, ever. She has her reasons but Austin is wearing her resistance down and he's not below using his coy dog Virginia Woof as well as his famous aunt Virginia Wolfe to get on Bree's good side.

This is a great story with lots of humor, heated attraction between these two characters and great supporting characters as well. I felt for Bree and her hidden skeletons and for her insecurities. You can't help but fall for Austin, he is the quintessential good guy as well as being smoking hot with very "large" hands. This book gives you a sense of the people in town and the friendly atmosphere as well as the struggles people silently face. It is a page turner and a read every word kinda book. I wanted to engulf all of it and was sad when it was over but happy to know there will be another book coming about one of Bree's brothers. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved everything about the book and highly recommend it.

The Ponderosa Resort Romantic Comedy series has been a lot of fun and this new addition to the series does not disappoint
If you are looking for steamy romance, a bit of fun and a touching story this will be a great read for you. I was immediately drawn to the interaction and chemistry between the two main characters in this book. You can tell very early on that Bree is hesitant to get involved with Austin, in spite of his “offer” to change jobs to make himself more appealing to her dating standards.
Despite knowing that Bree has a secret what I really took away from this one is how there are sometimes events or mistakes that we make in life that we tend to hold onto with a every tight grip and carry into other parts of our lives. I think that is a condition that many people have had at one point or another. Sometimes we all need forgiveness, especially for ourselves more than anyone. Bree’s hesitation because of her awful secret is understandable when there is such a deliciously hunky and squeaky-clean cop tempting her with those calendar-worthy biceps!
This story plays out very well and without giving anything away – the ending was even better and more heartwarming than I expected!! This is a fun quick read that is perfect for these waning fall days and chilly evenings. Curl up with your book or reader and enjoy.

PS – Where can I buy that calendar??

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woof?
Sweet Coyotes Howling, this author knows rom-com at its best! I love a book that has a great sense of humor, hyper-magnetic romance, a good plot, and enough intelligence that you don't feel like you're losing IQ points while you're reading it...and Tawna Fenske has this formula down.

This was actually my first read of the Ponderosa Resort series (why did I wait so long????), but it definitely won't be my last. I've got to go back now and start at the beginning to get ALL the good stuff. If you're like me and haven't experienced the fun of this series yet, no worries. You can jump in here and not feel lost or overwhelmed by the cast of loony characters.

From the scary, near-silent lumberjack brother to the over-the-top old ladies who want their hot cop to put on a thong and pose for a calendar for the children's home (OMG), this town is full of fun, wit, lunacy, loyalty, and love. Then there's the coyote/dog hybrid, Virginia Woof, to stir things up as well. In the midst of this chaos are Austin, the afore mentioned hot cop, and Bree, head of PR for the resort. He's a total straight shooter. She's a woman with a past she'd prefer to hide. Dating a cop is a total no-go. But among his other charming and sometimes Cro-Magnon qualities, Austin is relentless.

Those readers who are offended by adult language and seriously steamy sexy times may not appreciate this story as much, since these characters can be very uninhibited at times. But for a side-splitting romance, I've got to say this novel had more emotional weight than I expected. That puts this book totally in the Must Read category for me.

Another RITA finalist, this time for romantic comedy. Bree Bracelyn is in charge of the Ponderosa Resort that she and her brothers own and run, and at their grand opening she meets Sergeant Austin Dugan, who's on the fast track to becoming the youngest police chief. Bree struggles to fight the attraction she feels, because she has skeletons in her closet which have caused her to avoid dating anyone in law enforcement.

Ok, this made me smile at various times, but honestly it feels like a straightforward romance with no real intention of being a comedy, so I think it barely qualifies for the category. On top of that, it never really made me laugh. As a romance it was lukewarm - I didn't feel any heat between the protagonists despite the sex scenes. It was a cutesy story trying to add an element of seriousness with Bree's mysterious past, but when it is finally revealed I thought it was disappointing - she angsted for 13 years over that? I mean, yes it was tragic but it didn't provide any deep conflicts between the protagonists that would have made this a serious romance, or even anything to contribute to some real character development. So the story really wasn't one or the other (neither comedy nor serious intrigue), and overall left me feeling kinda meh. I felt no connection to any of the characters (the best one was the dog), so I have no interest in reading about the secondary characters' stories.

Ok for a mediocre romance, but disappointing for an award finalist. My rating is 2.5, but I'll be generous and round up to 3.

What a secret to carry around for 13 years. My heart broke for Bree because I could understand why she felt the way she did, even though her thoughts and beliefs are misguided.

I love the romance between Bree and Austin. She was so set against dating anyone good, but she couldn't help throwing herself at him. It was comical and real. The chemistry was there and it wasn't going away. I love how much Austin was willing to do for her. He went and talked to one of the girls from high school that was involved in the incident and without saying anything he was able to get the story from her. And then to arrange the meeting with another girl from high school that was involved in the incident. That is some fierce love, wanting to make sure she understands how misguided her thoughts and beliefs are.

I love the two older ladies in this story who were determined to get Austin to pose in the buff for their charitable calendar. Bree's idea was a great compromise and probably raised more money for more than one charity.

And hold on to your hats for the finale. I cannot wait for the next book.

From the first chapter to the last, the books sucks you in with the comedy, romance and mystery. Austin is the town's sexy police officer. Everyone knows him and he is a "by the books" kind of guy. He meets Bree at an event at the resort and he is smitten from the second he lays his eyes on her. However, she proves to be a challenge in that she doesn't date cops. That doesn't stop Austin from trying to convince her to go out with him. When his dad sets him up to return a fork to Bree that he accidentally took from the event, he knows that he has to have her. Bree is hiding a part of her past that no one knows about and she wants to keep it that way. However, the more time she spends with Austin, the harder he is to resist. He takes her to the hot springs so she can check it out for her guests and that's when the sparks really fly. The book kept you guessing up until the very end. I honestly couldn't figure out what Bree could have possibly done that she felt Austin wouldn't be able to forgive her. Well done Tawna. I really don't like when you can figure out what the secret is and I truly wasn't able to figure it out. The epilogue was priceless and so sweet!

Review will be posted at www.books-n-kisses.com .

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
Sargeant Sexypants is book two of the Ponderosa Ranch Romantic Comedies. We get to follow Bree Bracelyn and her brothers as they come together after the death of their father to run the Ponderosa Resort.

Bree Bracelyn just wants to live her life, run her resort, get to know here brothers and never ever date a cop. That is until she meets Austin Dugan the town cop.
Austin is very interested in Bree but she plays hard ball with her hard and fast rule to never date a cop and protect her secret.

This was a a great fun read. I loved the spark and steam between Bree and Austin. I loved that Austin didn’t give up on her no matter how hard Bree tried to push him away.

I always enjoy reading Tawna’s books she does and excellent job of mixing humor, romance, sexy time and bring a tear to my eye. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.
