The Inscrutable Paris Beaufont #1

The Unexplainable Fairy Godmother

Rate this book
Happily Ever After College has been churning out fairy godmothers for centuries.

But their outdated curriculum can’t keep up with the modern world.

They need something edgy. Something new, to keep true love alive.

They need Paris Beaufont.

However, this fairy loses her lunch if she watches a romantic comedy. Love songs give her hives. She punched the last guy who tried to flirt with her.

Needless to say, Paris Beaufont isn’t the romantic type.

But she’s going to have to learn how to create budding love for others or she’s going to jail.

When a series of criminal offenses forces Paris to attend fairy godmother college, she has to learn not to just stomach romance, but to master it.

What this fairy godmother in-training learns isn’t just about love. And what she does for the college might change the planet forever— It is love that makes the world go round, after all.

I think I may be in love with Faraday! He is a squirrel, yes I know. But he is so much fun! And yes, he is by far the best thing in this book!
But the rest wasn't bad, either. Yes, I wasn't really hooked up in the beginning. Not that was bad, the idea is quite interesting, and I really liked the importance of love for the world. It was quite romantic and just good. But I related with Paris and her complete lack of romantic feelings, at least if we are speaking about the sappiest of them. But it was not enough to really sold me the book.
And then, suddenly, I was totally engrossed in the story. It was like magic. There I was thinking that yes, it wasn't so bad (because, honestly, the Godmothers' school is just too good an idea to pass!) but it wasn't really so good either, and then bam! I couldn't put it down.
While the story progress I started to care for the characters. Paris is pretty good, and Hemingway and the butler (sorry, I can't remember the name, I am pretty bad with names, honestly!) are amazing secondary characters.
Sure, it is not the best book ever, but it is the right one when you just need a break. So I would look forward to the sequels, even if I would take my sweet time with them.

This is the first book in the Inscrutable Paris Beaufont series by Sarah Noffke and Michael Anderle.

I was intrigued by this title. And the book didn’t let me down. I got sucked in by the older original-ish fairy godmother who couldn’t make a love connection to two people. This match wasn’t followed up on it the book which was disappointing.

The story centers around Paris who is a fairy who tries to help people but half the time ends up getting in trouble while doing these good deeds for others. As punishment, she is sent to fairy godmother school. This academy is a bit antiquated and hasn’t kept up with the times. All the classes don’t really seem relevant for the modern matchmaker and Paris is just confused why she needs to learn all these odd things. Her influence is key to helping the academy grow and adjust just as she herself grows and adjusts.

Loving this story so far and looking forward to continuing with the series.

Definitely pick this up if you are a paranormal magical fantasy lover.

Fairies.. other Fae... even a talking squirrel.

If THE UNEXPLAINABLE FAIRY GODMOTHER were a drink it would be a frothy pink confection.

The thing that surprised me was the excellent life advice that would occasionally come out of left field. Otherwise it's sort of silly and sort of fun and really it won't be until after I try the 2nd book in the series that I'll be able to say whether my 3 Stars were generous or need to be advised upwards.

A funny short story about a fairy Paris who constantly invites trouble and her uncle who loves her but a a detective has his hands tied as what he can do for her. Solution, seng her to Fairy Godmother college. She accepts with reservations but really has not other choice. Hopefully some followup stories
appear.

Extraordinary!

I highly recommend this intriguing book, as well as all the series that are associated with it, to readers who love reading excellent Urban Fantasy.
Actually, every book I've read written or co-written by Michael Anderle have been thoroughly entertaining, and often in easy to binge read boxed sets.
Enjoy!

This was a fun, snarky, read. Paris and her squirrel familiar are such a pair! There are some good lessons in the book about breaking away from the old and adapting, changing, being true to one’s self, and it’s done in such a humorous way as not to be preachy.

Captivating

I have fallen in love with our new heroine. This new series has caught my interest very quickly. Just when I think I know what is going to happen there is a twist. I’m looking forward to finding out more.

Fairy Godmothers

Great idea for a book. A fairy with a hidden past. Great characters. The talking squirrel had me laughing out loud. Classic Anderle. Looking forward to the next book.

READING DIARY - 2

The big reveal is Paris is half far half magician...and totally boring. The literary universe is based on several books of which I will never read. The story basically sets up other chapters not new stories. She stays at the Godmother College and the teacher who despises her is fired.

Wow. Paris is definitely something else. A much more updated version of a Fairy Godmother, I’ve never seen. Impossible to not enjoy this first book of an outstanding new series to come.

Magical College

If you like reading about magical schools, you'll probably like this book. Paris doesn't fit in, but readers will like her fire. She also has that sudden specialness that Harry Potter had

Although the book is about training to be a fairy godmother, there are no real love matches made. Paris doesn't have a love interest. There is no kissing or dating. She does make several interesting friends.

I loved the references to Disney's Cinderella cartoon.

Amazing read

This premise has struck me even more than the author's other books which were awesome. I love the idea that people fall in love because of who they are and who they have grown into. I also adore people who stand against bullies - #BulliesSuck
The fact that Paris fights against centuries of ingrained godmotherly notions is inspiring. I love rewrites of fairy tales and this is basically rewriting the entire genre of fairy godmothering. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this and cannot wait to find out more about our mysterious Paris and how her parents lost her and the overarching baddie coming her way. (No spoilers from me - I hate reviews with spoilers sorry!)

Excellent new series

The first book in a series needs to set the stage for the series. This one does a bang up job. Great characters and fast paced plot keep you reading. Some characters we already know and adds to fun.

Paris, Faraday, Uncle John

Paris's Uncle John is a detective. He tells her she will have to go to jail, or be sent to Fairy Godmother College.

Characterization and plotting are excellent.

OMG! What a wonderful start for a new series. I love this saucy and strong young woman who is out to right any injustice. She is afraid of no one and nothing. Of course, I have been reading about this family since the start at Book 1 -Liv Beaufont's story. Then went on to Sophia's stories. Therefore, I got confused until I got to the part that this is 20 years later. Then, everything made sense. Paris Westbridge lived her young life with her Uncle John Nicholson on Roya Lane. Now she has a small apartment of her own. The problem is she can't stay out of trouble. This latest fight is the last straw. Uncle John is a detective with the police. He gives her the ultimatum- go to Fairy Godmother college or go to jail. She takes the banishment to Fairy Godmother school. What she finds is more trouble and her true identity. Fast paced and great characters. It is off to a great start and so far I think will be my favorite series.

Having just completed two previous series regarding the feisty, resilient and adorable Liv and Sophia Beaufont girls I was a little hesitate as to whether we could handle yet another great Beaufont character and series.
But in true style the reader is left wanting much more of this mysterious Beaufont female and finding out her story. An absolute fantastic start of this new series and so looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.
Great to see some old favourites return and some new mysterious ones appear. Simply love the character of Faraday!

I received an advance copy of this book for a fair review.

The Unexplainable Fairy Godmother is a wonderful start to the series. It builds on the other Beaufont series (Unstoppable Liv Beaufont and Exceptional S. Beaufont) with characters from these series popping up throughout, but you can still read it as a stand alone series (but I recommend you read them first as they are awesome books!). Paris isn't like the other faries, and when she gets into trouble just one too many times she finds herself at the Fairy Godmother's college. Paris meets some great new friends and as her first day at the college goes by she learns more about herself. A really entertaining book with plenty of adventure and magic.

We see another headstrong, independent, justice-minded Beaufont woman! Who is Paris, really? Where does she fit in with the Beaufont family? You’ll need to read to the end to find out. What I will say, is that it’s definitely worth the read. This is a new series with exciting possibilities and hints of things to come.

A New Beaufont, How Exciting

I have been looking forward to this new series since the ads dropped. A Beaufont, who is typically a warrior, going to Fairy Godmother School. That should be interesting and it was. I can't wait for the next one. Also I think I need a talking squirrel.

Love is not in the Air

Loved this new work from Sarah. It blends a know world with a new one seamlessly. During the world building there are only hints of what is to come, but it looks very dark and rather dangerous. Can't wait for the next one.

Another Hit

OK, I love to read a Story that links in to other Characters I have enjoyed learning about. I am anxiously awaiting the next Adventure and for the record, Sarah, I’m a retired doc and would much rather read your stories than watch Netflix.

Another knockout story!

Wish there were more stars or at least a plus sign. As I've become to expect from Sarah and Michael, this book is full of highs and lows, usual situations, unfriendly and opponents who believe they are better than others, and strong resilient friends. And not to forget, the jokes!

I was surprised (even though I shouldn’t have been given the excellent calibre of the authors) at how much I loved this story, especially as Fairy Godmothers really aren’t my type of thing. This book is not only funny but is full of adventure, secrecy, magic and characters you can not help but love. Paris is tough, funny, willing to stand up for injustice (even if it does get her into trouble) and surrounded by mystery. I love that she has a soft heart and a talking squirrel who sleeps in her sock draw. She has the strength to be true to herself and to rebel against years of traditions that are no longer working or achieving their ends. I think my favorite part of the story is all the mystery that surrounds Paris and her family. I can not wait to see how things develop and for all the secrets to be slowly revealed.

Sequel series

Great concept, but appears to be a follow on to the liv beaufont series by the same authors. She's referenced quite a bit. I'm switching over and will continue this series when I finish that one.
