“God wants you to swim in the oceans of trust and not stay in the shallows of uncertainty”
“Your willingness to share allows you to extract the seed from your sorrow and plant it for tomorrow. What you have been through can help another find breakthrough.”
“ If my loaves and fish can become a miracle for someone else, I’m in”
This was a super quick and easy read that gets right to the point. Rooted in a lot of scripture and some deep yet relatable stories to tie it all together. I think a lot of this Is what every 20s/30s year old would like to hear ⬇️ some quotes I just vibes with:
1. I mean, what’s the point of sharing what seems so little when the problem is so big? But one young boy donates his loaves and fish, perhaps thinking, I can’t take care of everyone, but I can help someone.
2. Your testimony is part of your victory . . . What you have been through can help another find breakthrough
3. If we force the next lines, we leave what should have been said unsaid and say too quickly what we don’t need to say just yet
4. Selah says “let it rest; let those words be heard”. It’s a time to think and to process the important things that, if you hurry, you will miss.
5. They remembered the food they once ate but somehow forgot the chains in which they’d had to eat
6. She was focused on what was behind, and in doing so, lost her chance to discover what was ahead
7. But I have often let a delay deny me of an opportunity that trust extended to me
8. God wants you to swim in oceans of trust and not stay in the shallows of uncertainty
I have seen Charlotte Gambill at Cherish (the Christian Women's Conference she organised) many times and at which Natalie Grant has often performed, so was interested to read of the history of their friendship.
I do think that many Christian books suit a particular season or circumstance in one's life and, at the moment, after a long period of grieving and poor health, I don't feel really up to being that person who 'dares to be'.
That shouldn't detract from the wisdom and guidance in the book though, which encourages readers to pursue dreams, to stick at challenges and to step out in faith.
There are times when I think the title - Dare to Be - is a little overworked, but I am sure it was a conscious decision to keep the reader on theme.
At the end of each chapter there are questions for reflection, together with space to write one's answers. I may well go back to these at a later date, when my own life is a little more settled.
This is a great read! For me, who has just started on an exciting journey that I fully believe God has placed on my heart! Reading this book now has not only “dared me to be” but it has dared me to TRUST. So, let me encourage you that no matter how small it may seem, how ill equipped you think you are, or how off the wall it might seem to others … when God puts something on your heart, I dare you to go for it and see what God will do! Read this book for a lot of encouragement in stepping out in faith!
