The third book in an action-packed series of nautical adventures starring Submariner Sinclair! Perfect for fans of Clive Cussler, Douglas Reeman and Duncan Harding.
Sinclair finds himself pitted against an enemy with lethal plans for the human race
Mediterranean, 1943
Lurking in the Dodecanese, an unknown terror has been ambushing British submarines.
Lieutenant Peter Sinclair, R.N., Captain of H.M. Submarine Rugged and the youngest Commanding Officer with the famous ‘Fighting Tenth’ Submarine Flotilla, sets sail. His mission: to destroy the enemy.
In the Turkish city of Istanbul the discovery of a murdered agent reveals a cryptic message; a message which, once deciphered, reveals the existence of an enemy fortress producing a lethal weapon.
Behind it all is Sinclair’s nemesis – a ruthless and deadly S.S. Kommandant prepared to commit mass murder.
In a remote and hostile region, Sinclair, Commando Lieutenant Hank Jefferson, U.S. Navy and Able Seaman Bill Hawkins carry out a daring raid to destroy the plant.
But with time fast running out will they succeed?
And will they all make it out alive?
SINCLAIR IN COMMAND is the third book in the Submariner Sinclair series: rip-roaring authentic adventures following a British submarine crew during World War II and beyond.
’John Wingate has certainly found a winner in Peter Sinclair’ – The Navy
John Alan Wingate DSC was a successful novelist with some twenty-five books to his credit. Many of these had a naval theme. Frequently involving the submarine service, they gained much authenticity from Wingate’s personal wartime experiences
The first half of this book was good albeit emotional, unfortunately it was let down by the second half of the book which to me seemed like something out of a James Bond film, only without the fast cars and the girls. I will acknowledge the twist at the end was good but I'm hoping book 4 will be better and focus more on the submarines.
Here we go again. CO of a submarine and members if his crew being used for clandestine operations. What a crock of bull pucky! Then there's the US Navy lieutenant "commando" - how'd that happen? Supposedly a graduate of the US Naval academy, but says he's not a sailor? WTF! He's 6ft 4 inches of athletic muscle and was the Academy welterweight boxing champ? Welterweight in boxing us 140-147lbs. I think that weight AR that height would make him about as tough as a toothpick. And 4 years in a naval academy will certainly make a sailor out if anyone who graduates.
Another enjoyable read in the ""Submariner Sinclair " series . Although a little slow in places the author still continues to develop his main character well (including his emotions ) & finishes this book with an unexpected but clever twist right at the end that rounds off the story nicely I look forward to reading book four .
A dull moment. Like Maxwell House Coffee....good to the last "word". Totally enjoyed this jewel. Imaginative, creative and beautifully written. I never put it down. You should read it now.
A good entertaining read about British submarine warfare in the Med. Quite a difference from the US subs in the Pacific. Looking forward to reading the whole series.
Certainly a book about submarine warfare and the cruelties of war is touched upon, but as an odd twist in this sea story Captain Sinclair gets tangled up with Nazi spies on land. A good read within a great series.
