Rate this book
A deadly gift. A terrible choice. Sometimes the price is too high…After Del Larouche defeats the Gris-gris man, she struggles to find her place in the adult world. She just wants a normal life. But her horrible ‘gift’ means her life will never be normal.

When six-year-old Clara goes missing from the St. Augustine Orphanage—the third child in two weeks—a frantic search begins and Del agrees to use her gift to help find the girl.

As the dark layers of New Orleans are peeled back, a terrible truth is exposed. What she finds lurking in the shadows of the old city is unimaginable. But it’s what the lurking shadows find… that is truly deadly.

Scars of Redemption is the chilling second book in The Spirit Hunter supernatural thriller series. If you like atmospheric writing, dangerous adventures, and horrifying twists, then you’ll love this heart-pounding tale.

Del Larouche is a young woman with an amazing gift; a gift that keeps getting her into unimaginable trouble! While she longs to be a reporter, Del realizes that she must use her gift to help her become financially stable. But then children begin to disappear. Del realizes that she must use her gift to find and save the missing children. She is not prepared for the darkness she uncovers or the realization that her world is far more terrifying than she or anyone could have imagined.

D.S. Quinton, the author, is very skilled at creating characters that are endearing as well as those that are terrifying. He draws his listeners in and wows them with his storytelling ability. He is a master at his writing, capturing the imagination of his listener, and adding twists that leave the listener on the edge of their chairs. While a mystery, the supernatural aspect of it is the pièce de résistance.

The narrator, Allen Grunerud is fabulous! He gives unique voices to each character, gives a flawless performance, and is consistent with the accents. His work adds to the story, moving it along and draws in the listener even further. He makes the audiobook!

This is a supernatural mystery series that listeners of all ages can appreciate! There is a lot going on in this series – a young woman coming of age, her struggles, supernatural/religion, belief system, and more. Quinton does an outstanding job of painting this story through his rich and vivid words.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was clear and well produced.

I have to admit this book didn’t hold my interest like the first. There was so much detail. The ending though! Now I have to read the next book. I have to know what happens to Dell and everyone. It just stopped just as it was getting good.

Terrible Story

What started as a great story in the first book completely implodes in the second. I don't know how the story gets so muddled and unrealistic such a wasted story.
