Alex has defeated another one of his enemies in Archus Doler, but evil still lurks in the shadows of Nata Isle. Lord Asher Mec invites his two beautiful magical sisters to help investigate, but Alex and his family are still in danger. And he’ll stop at nothing to keep them safe.
An absolute masterpiece. I love the intricate plots, the characters and the connections, affections and comradery shared between them. Despite the threats of dark magic's, evil plots and demons, it's the sense of family that we get from Alex and his family that makes these books so dang fantastic I can't put them down.
More world building. More character development. Secrets finally start getting some much needed answers.
The story picks up shortly after Alex had mostly recovered from the curse and duel with Archus. There is a lot more character development and world building in the book that really explains much more of how Aventoll actually functions. Less action in this book but it doesn't suffer from it in the least. By far the best of the three books in the series so far and it just continues to get better. This book solidifies even more that this series is by far my favorite.
Alex is recovering from the curse from his last dual. But circumstances don't allow him to spend as much time relaxing on his Ithaca estate with his wives as he would like. Adventures and danger abound. His image is enhanced by helping people when he could have been furthering his own status. A new woman comes into his life that he has a deep connection with. However, she is forbidden fruit. I like the action, humor, intrigue, and romance. I look forward to the next book.
Such a rich fantasy world with a healthy polyam relationship (though the world certainly is more set up harem style). The hero is still fighting to keep his family safe and learn about this new world he's been thrust into as a "Traveler". The plot thickens as more threats are revealed and the body count rises with more Red Moons and sabotage . Certainly becoming my favoured series quickly, as much as I love some others!
Once again a truly great story. But the use of strange obscure words causes me to have to stop and look them up which takes away from my enjoyment. Also Mac showed up mounted which made him cavalry not infantry. Infantry or foot soldiers cavalry or mounted. So in essence the cavalry arrived just in the nick of time as it supposed to! This is why I only gave it a rating of a four.
So this series is a new favourite of mine by Eric Vall. I eargerly waited for this book and it did not disappoint me. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and couldn't wait to see what happens. The only bad thing is something all readers hate: having to wait for the next book in the series.
The third books delves a bit more into some more of the lore of the world, and introduces us to some other jobs besides Asher. The author handily avoids this just becoming the ‘duel-of-the-month-club” series by providing plenty of mystery and magic before suggesting that someone out there needs killing.
Really good series from this prolific author. I enjoy the isekai style novels with the MC coming to terms with a new word with vastly different cultures and people. This series is action packed and filled with a bit of harem romance including some sexy times with his wives.
This is a truly incredible series with an amazing premise, fantastic characters, and top notch world building! The relationships and interactions throughout are truly moving!
Hell of a ride! Lost some sleep over this one. I like that the author changes things up when inside of a characters head, as if he’s writing in the way that they are thinking
When I first began reading this series, I found it to be a little slow with its plot, but as I continue to read, I find that each book has begun to keep my interest understand hold it until I've finished the current book
When you struggle together, you realize what is important. Protecting those who mean more than yourself, has you realize what is important. Love, family and being there for each other.
I hate saying it since I'm a big fan of eric vall, but this is just bad story telling. The overall premise is decent. But there are aspects of this story that just make it so bad I cannot finish this book nor will I continue the series.
An excellent tale filled with action, adventure sword play and intrigue. Well written with a crisp story line and excellent dialog. I'm anxiously waiting for the next installment!
This is one of my favorite books by this author. Usually the harem theme completely over takes the story. I like how the story continues to expand without throwing a load of women into the mix.
If I have ever read a "let me stay awake to read just a bit more," that book is tied with this one. I had an impromptu nap between the last two chapters, so I think it's time to get the next book!
This book and the previous two are totally WONDERFUL! The storyline and characters are so well written. That you can't help but fall in love with their lives.
Wanted to like this series, but with this third book, oh hell no! The 14-year old boy that the main character treats like he is four was too infuriating and cringe. When the 14-year old is put into the same bed with main character's barely-clad two wives, I lost it for this series. WTF!

I liked the the story we delved a lot into Shay's history. I hope the oryx woman Anaya will be on the next cover and I would like to see what Alex won from Vane
