I love military horror. It's about the brotherhood and the tactics and feeling like you are part of the group and wondering if you have the same steel within yourself if faced with the same situation. And it will land differently on people depending on their level of exposure to said world. But these stories are BLEAK. B L E A K! So I can't say I had lots of good vibes coming out of reading these stories, but that's ok. I still enjoyed the authorship and the descriptions, I just think the title of this book might have been CONTACT: SACRIFICIAL WOLVES or something. :b
Alister Hodge's contribution to this collection--involving Roman centurions in Carthage--is the clear standout both in terms of quality and creativity, but overall the collection is weak. At least two of the stories could be considered more vignettes than full plots, with no real resolution to any conflict except killing monsters. The entries are all pretty specifically military monster horror, but the cover art gets it right, there's a b-movie madness to the whole collection.
A better first half than the second, but there was only one story I really didn’t like, so overall not too bad. The last one definitely felt like a Warhammer 40,000 story set on post-apocalypse earth, but it was still pretty good. I also liked that the time periods ran from Roman-era to the future, meaning that there was a good range of military action here.
That was great, every story was string,I love military horror and this was it at its best.stories full of action, characters you want to see again.I suggest you read it for yourselves
