Her Royal Highness Seems to Be Angry Manga #2

Her Royal Highness Seems to Be Angry (Manga), Volume 2

Rate this book
Princess Leticiel is the most powerful sorceress of her remote kingdom, and adored by everyone. But as her land is ravaged by an endless war, she loses everything. Her people, her family, her loved ones, and eventually, her own life.

Until she opens her eyes and awakens in a place she’s never seen before! A thousand years have passed, and she finds herself reincarnated in a different time in the body of a different person; the lazy and incompetent Dorossel. Dismissed and apparently despised by her family and even her fiancé, she struggles to understand this new world and the events that have transpired since her death.

There’s a lot to be mad about, but first on the list: how on earth did future magic turn out so lame?

hmm. has become a little less interesting now that we have school children duking it out while speaking like the most generic villains/heroes ever.

I SOOOOOO want to find out what happens next!!!! I have gotten back into my college-love of manga and this is a series I will be reading for a while I think. I really feel badly for the MC h, who went through SO MUCH in her first life and is trying to do her best in this one, while not knowing much about the world she is now in or what the bad guys want with her.

The ending was kind of a cliff hanger, but as long as the next one is out soon, I'll be ok with it.

(pausing to see when the next one it out, it's out already, bought and on my TBR!!!)

Et hem, back to the book review....

....

I rather be reading the next one tbh??

Yes, it's that good, yes I highly recommend it. Yes, I'm going to read it ASAP.

5, what are you waiting for you should check this series out, stars!

My thanks to NetGalley and TOKYOPOP for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

First of all, I would like to thanks Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

3.5stars

Its a fun read on a similar premise of isekai where the main character is a princess and somehow she is in a noble lady body currently. There seems to be magic and powerful abilities in the kingdom she is now and she enters a school where you need to have magic in order to survive. The upper class status will always bully or look down on the lower class. There are fights and battle of wits but they are average and nothing out of ordinary. I would say the whole scenes of fighting between the two groups are okay but towards the end, the plot seems to get more interesting so I'm curious what gonna happen.

Overall, its a slow paced series with friendship coming together

A great continuation of the story with a beautiful cliffhanger ending. Let’s go low class! --

As previously expressed, this manga is truly a gorgeous continuation. It expresses that power does not lie in money or born-status, but rather in will and determination. I always appreciated novels that destroy the class barriers to truly get to the nitty gritty of the details. Also that surprise cliffhanger with Zeke... perfect!

1 = not developed | 2 = underdeveloped
3 = developed | 4 = well developed
⭐ = my personal favorite

Plot - 2.5/4
Oh look, a training camp arc with mysterious invaders! Never seen that one before...
On one hand, this volume gave us some more tidbits of information that will likely come to fruition later, and the larger plot is moving forward, but the generic nature of this volume's main events, especially when we consider how superb volume 1 was, is disappointing.

Themes - 1/4
I'm still not sure why the shift to the training arc had to step in this early, or at all, really. It's a direction that shouldn't be needed with a main character as accomplished as Leticiel, whose main concerns are her being out of time, and that everyone hates her. Volume 1 did a great job showing us how dedicated she was to fighting for her people, so of course she's going to be more skilled than everyone with magic and combat. We didn't need to see that, especially since it did nothing to convince anyone otherwise.

Worldbuilding - 3/4
The details we get about magic and sorcery in this book is much appreciated. I personally quite like this take on two kinds of magic, with one being lost to the ages that the main character exposes to her friends. The buildup for the rival nation, on the other hand, is not so good.

Main Character - 4/4
Leticiel is as strong as she was in volume 1, and we get even more excellent characterization that separates her from her peers, this time to really show off that she is technically a queen.

All cast - 3/4
Why is manga so keen to use forms of bigotry, in this case classism, as the only personality trait, motivation, and all around characterization for the main character's opposition? This is especially true in the case of volume 2 for the crown prince, the focal point of conflict this volume, who is...also...her fiancé. He likes Drossell's sister, and no one questions why he is so cruel to his actual fiancé? Tropes-be-gone, please!
Coincidentally, the few "good" characters who grow closer to Leticiel have some depth that we get to see here, but it's hard for that to stand out with how crushingly one-dimensional the rest of the characters were (except you Headmaster, who somehow managed to be gruff and abrasive yet still more likable than most of the characters).

Execution - 3/4
I audibly groaned whenever the crown prince and his cronies had dialogue, but at least Letty's friends were written well! Otherwise, the art quality and page layouts are just as stellar this volume, but it's getting a 3 out of 4 because the writing suffers more than it should.

Overall - 3/4
Please don't turn into a tropey mess...please don't turn into a tropey mess...
Volume 2 was a noticeable step back after the excellent setup that is volume 1, and I really hope this story leaves the barely relevant clichés behind and remembers what a wonderful world and main character it has on its hands.

I have to wonder who is titling these super dark series with such light and fluffy appellations. This is good (horrible anachronisms aside), but neither the cover copy nor the title hints at how very dark the story itself can get.

Huh? What happened here? We went from interesting isekai to Hunger Games to villains straight out of Pokémon. The hair of the characters keeps changing colours, and the clothing doesn’t make any sense. Looks like author had a cool idea and lost the plot while drafting the later volumes.

They dress the girls really badly in this volume. The last one wasn't bad, and now it's suddenly short shorts. I knocked it down a full star for that.

I can see why Drossell always had outbursts because she was scared of that monstrosity.

Sometimes it was hard to tell that Letty (I’m going to call her this instead of Drossell from now on) had two different colored eyes. Speaking of which, WHY does she have two different colored eyes? Was it just because of her sorcerer awakening?

This felt very fast paced but kind of slow? Like, plenty of time was focused on the training battle thing, but the build up of the Lapis kingdom felt too fast. It should’ve been spaced out more. I also want to know more about Drossell’s home life since it hasn’t been elaborated on at all. Unless it’s just “we hate her because she has no magic,” which is shallow and lazy writing. I do like how Letty is concerned not only with achieving her goals, but plans to also figure out about Drossell.

The prince was just a cartoonish, shallow villain throughout the whole volume, constantly popping up out of nowhere and going ha-ha-ha, you peasants! Honestly I don’t like him but I’m also kind of annoyed I dislike him since clearly I’m being made to dislike him because of the shallow characterization given to him by the creator.

Hilmes (who should’ve just been named Holmes) is shallow too, but a likable shallow that’s more simple than shallow. The ending story with him was kind of cute, but I don’t know how a shepherd dog was able to rest on his head.

Also, what was up with that nude-but-not drawing of a girl? I assume it was meant to be the MC Letty, but it could have also been Mira. No matter who it was, why did it have to exist? Was the detailed big boobs and up skirts not enough?

It was sweet to see Letty making friends. I’m starting to think that the headmaster is her father, but I can’t think of who Mira and Hilmes used to be.

Despite all this, the story is intriguing, so I will continue to read all of the volumes available on Kindle Unlimited.

TLDR: Slower paced, more characters, more fan service, then it gets really good towards the end of it.

The new characters have helped form a circle of friends around our MC. The artwork for them doesn’t help distinguish who they are at times. Just carbon copies of each other with a different hair color.

Our MC has to fit into this new world of hers so we’re more focused on her adaptation. Which has slowed down the story. Though it’s been 1000 years since her existence, she’s still being pursued by an entity that still knows her.

I’ll say it again, I still hate the fan service. The upskirt angles, unnecessary butt shots, watching them get dressed, etc. At one point a girl got pushed into a low hanging tree so we have to see up her skirt from behind. For what?

The story itself has my attention and I enjoy the read. I can do without the fan service distractions.

Entertaining and Sweet!

Much as my heart breaks for Princess Leticiel's predicament in losing everything she's ever loved in her time, I'm growing more fascinated as time passes with Leti inhabiting Lady Drossell's body. I liked seeing the development of her character going from ice queen to calm and caring. Though I wish Leti could go back to her own time and be with her father and King Nao and their friends, it shatters me all over that Leti knows messing with time is wrong. At this time. I still have hope the past can be changed by not-boring magic and time-turning sorcery. This series, so far, is quite entertaining and an all-around sweet read. Long live Princess Leticiel!

2.5 🌟

I found this quite average and not really for me. I admit I was drawn to the fact for its cute and nice cover. Although the story might be promising in the future.

This is another reincarnation isekai story with nice looking characters with magic in a school setting. There's also a romance here yet still subtle for this volume. If you like to be bombarded with questions on your mind and like magical schools, you might try and have fun with this manga.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Kou Yatsuhashi, Neko Yotsuba, Mito Nagishiro and Tokyopop for an advance eARC copy for this.

Still enjoying it very much

Key words: manga, seinen, fantasy, action

This second volume is fully set in the modern world Leticiel has been reincarnated in. I enjoyed following her adventures and seeing her accommodate to this new life. There is still a lot of mystery around her person, as well as around others I think. The end is such a cliff-hanger, I can’t wait for the next volume now.

I recommend this manga to people looking for reincarnation and adventure.

4/5

Thank you Netgalley for this eArc in exchange of my honest opinion

I have been thinking this entire time that her eye color changed when she first used her abilities but no…they’ve been different since she woke up in that body 😅 and here I thought they missed a major plot point 🤣

This volume had more character-based plot progression, which isn’t bad since it was still entertaining and significant to the story.

The 4 stars mostly comes from THAT ENDING. 😱

Story has turned unexpectedly from an isekai romance into a fanservice battle manga continuing the unnecessary scanty shots (this time with full nudity). Not crazy about this turn, but have vol. 3 so will continue.

That ending

Wow. What a way to end volume two. I didn't see that coming. I'm certain Zeke is the reincarnation of Nao, just without his memories. I can't wait to see what else happens.

It’s ok, but lots of people behaving like jerks without discernible reason. Her twin is always trailing along like a meek person, unsure if she’s actually a green tea or not.

So Intrigued

I love this series. There's a lot of mystery. There's lore implicating that Drossel will bring calamity to the kingdom, but the king seems to believe in a prophecy that says that she will save them all and bring hope. The lore and Drossel's previous emotional outbursts seem to be why so many people hate her, but the King's belief is why she's engaged to the first Prince even though he hates her. However, there seems to be more to why Drossel behaved the way she did and I want to know so bad!

Meanwhile, there seems to be someone from Leticiel's past life that is rather obsessed with her. I really want to know more about that. Not to mention Zeke's true identity and what is going on in Lapis.

So much mystery! There are a lot of sweet moments, too, though. Leticiel is making friends in her new life and got to put the extremely unlikable Prince in his place. I can't wait for volume three.
