After my mother passed away, I packed up my entire life and moved to her home country of Ireland. I wanted a change of scenery, a different life… to distance myself from the memories of all that I lost.
I wanted a fresh start.
The small Irish village of Duthmoore was everything I had hoped when I envisioned myself starting a new life.
And for the first time since I lost her, I felt like I was home… like I wasn’t alone.
It wasn’t until I found myself walking into Getting Lucky, the most well-known pub in Duthmoore, that I found myself face-to-face with the owner, Cillian McGowan, and realizing that maybe Duthmoore had a hell of a lot more to offer than I thought.
Cillian
I was a born and raised Scot but on a whim had moved to Duthmoore, Ireland, and started up my own pub.
Over the years, Getting Lucky had become the most popular pub in the village, and business was booming.
My pub was my dream, my life, the only thing I needed to focus on, or so I thought.
When I saw the pretty strawberry-blonde walk into my pub, I was pretty sure angels sang, the world slowed, and everything else faded away.
I’d never been so mesmerized by another person, never felt like if I wasn't near them, the air would be sucked from my lungs.
But I sure as hell felt like that for Aoife. And as the hours passed and she consumed more, her story started to unfold.
I had never thought love, at first sight, was possible, but with her, it was very clear I didn’t know much about how the world worked.
Because I was already head over heels for the little Irish-American, and I was pretty sure I couldn’t let her walk away after tonight.
*A complete standalone in the Getting Lucky series.*
Aoife visits Ireland, her deceased mother’s homeland to start over. When Aoife and Cillian’s eyes meet across his pub, it is love at first sight.
This was a great story. It had everything in it that you need. It was sweet, romantic, steamy, cute and safe. Virgin heroine, celibate hero, no drama. A sweet story for a cozy evening at home 😉
Book 4 in the multi authored Getting Lucky series and this was Jenika’s contribution. After her mother dies, Aoife makes the decision to go to Ireland to see where her mom was from. Once she was there, she goes into a bar and meets Cillian where as soon as they see each other, it was like a magnet was pulling them together. The chemistry and attraction between them was intense. Loved their romance. Another great story from the talented Jenika Snow that will have you believing in love with every turn of the page.
She found her home abroad Just when I thought this author couldn’t get any better, she brings my favorite two locations (and accents) together in one fantastic book! I love these characters; their story is so touching and of course they have that instant connection that this author is so perfect at writing. The sparks really fly from the moment the bar door opens and I was caught up in the tale. The author did a fantastic job with this story and it is the perfect addition to this collection. I can’t wait to read more!
Commentary: This is the first time I've ever rated a Jenika Snow story below 3 stars. While there wasn't much substance in the story - it was literally just them getting together right away for sex with no other conversations to indicate that they were getting to know each other - the real problem was with the Scottish accent. I see from reading other reviews that most people had a problem with that. It was like I had to translate everything he said into American English (not that all readers are American, I know, but considering all the books previously written by the author, it was a strange choice). Usually, when I see romance novels written with Scottish characters, the dialogue is written without the accent spelled phonetically (the accent is mentioned) or it's written out but not so often (I think of Julie Garwood's books). It was annoying enough that it pulled me out of the story. Also I thought it was strange that when the American-Irish heroine moved to Ireland (still feeling like she didn't really belong, whereas in America, with an American accent, nobody would have really known she was half-Irish unless she mentioned it), she maintained her American accent, but then the hero himself, in a story set in Ireland, wasn't even Irish, but Scottish.
I was so damn excited when I saw that Jenika Snow released a new book. I always love her short stories... but this one was not enjoyable for me.
I can deal with the accent in the spoken dialogue but when it’s all throughout the entire damn POV it’s super distracting. I didn’t like it at all and it kinda ruined the book for me.
Examples:
And I was proud as fook tae see her trying in vain no’ tae stare at me as well.
“I was waiting for ye tae come intae my life.”
“More, Aoife. Fook, give me more like I’m going tae give ye,”
Every single to=“tae” in Cillian’s POV and lots of other words were like that too. I just couldn’t handle it.
This book was also mostly one giant sex scene like 5 minutes after their first date at the castle.. which is fine, but I didn’t get any connection from them previously. They met at the pub, Getting Lucky, stared at each other for a minute, Cillian ran outside to find her... then they said a few words and he asked her on a date. That was it. Not enough for me to feel that thing between them other than just sexual attraction. It’s supposed to feel like an “in love” thing and it left me feeling like a one-night-stand sorta situation. I don’t enjoy that.
The epilogues were cute, though. I’ll give it that.
She finds her Scottish man while finding her home in Ireland.....multi-culturalism for the win!
Bottoms Up by Jenika Snow is part of the multi-author Getting Lucky series. This story is about Aoife Kelly and Cillian McGowan. Aoife is twenty-five years old and a year ago her mother died. She had been born in the USA just shortly after her mother arrived after leaving Ireland, as she was shunned in her small Irish village because she got pregnant at the age of eighteen. The one thing that her mother had wanted her to do was to find her own happiness wherever that was. So Aoife moved to Ireland and the small town of Duthmoore. A few weeks after arriving she is settling in, looking for work, getting to know the town and some of the locals. One evening she is walking around and decides to visit the most well known and favored pub, Getting Lucky. There she encounters a very large, handsome and panty melting man who is serving behind the bar. He makes her feels things that she has never felt before, and that was even before he caught her eye and gave her a smile with a dimple on one of his cheeks. Cillian is thirty-three years old and a born and raised Scotsman. But he left Scotland to follow his dream and ended up in Duthmore, Ireland where he opened the Getting Lucky pub. Several years of hard work has mad the pub a thriving business which is favored by the locals and tourists alike. His life is everything he wanted except the one missing piece, a woman and family of his own. That changes when one night he is working behind the bar and looks up to find a young woman staring at him who completely takes his breath away. He continues to watch her and catches her watching him also. But when she goes to leave he knows he cannot let her get away from him as there is just something telling him she is important. So he runs after her finding her outside and about to cross the street. When he touches her there are sparks and a sizzling connection between them.
I really loved this story a lot and the characters are fantastic. Plus the three epilogues are wonderful and heartwarming, along with what you wish for in your own life.
Aoife moves to Ireland and meets Cillian through her brother. These two were amazing together. So much chemistry their connection was so strong. I loved these two together and their story was sweet, sassy, sensual and sexy. A perfect short holiday story!
Aoife and Cillians story was so so sweet and romantic.😍😍😍 They fell instantly in love and nothing could stop them from the first second😍😍 A sweet, safe, romantic, steamy and dramafree story with an awesome HEA and great epilogues👍👍👍👍 A Scottish guy and his American woman😉
This was a very well-written Book 4 in The Getting Lucky Book Series is by one of my favorite authors, Jenika Snow. It was intriguing and has well-thought out scenes, characters, and story. These characters have strong wills and personalities and their interactions are believable. This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists, turns, adventure, action, danger, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced and entertaining from start to finish.

Aoife and Cillian see each other for the first time at his pub in Duthmoor, Ireland. She had moved here from the U.S. after her mother died, and feels so at home here for the first time in her life. He is originally from Scotland and thick with the brogue. Loved the way the two came together with intense emotions and feelings. Wonderful glimpses of the Irish countryside and castles. The romance skyrockets and their forever is sealed. Well done.

In this book we meet Aoife & Cillian. Aoife has taken the time to morn her mother and then a voice speaks to her and tells her to follow her heart. So she goes to Ireland to start a new life. When she first arrives she takes her time to just be a tourist. One of the places she had to try was Getting Lucky. This was a favorite pub of the locals. So she decides to go in and give it a try. From the moment she sees Cillian behind the bar she can't look away. Cillian is just looking at another busy night at the bar. Though he is happy to see this happening he happens to glance over and catches Aoife's eye and knows he has just seen his future. His only problem is one moment she is there the next she is leaving the bar. He knows he has to catch her or he may loose something he can never replace. Can these two find a HEA or will they just be too people from a bar one night?
Another amazing hit by this author. These characters they really suck you in and won't let go till the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
I really liked this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although I did want a bit more family-wise. I was hoping that her mom's family or her dad's family would realize what they had missed out on and try to make amends, but that didn't happen. The characters were interesting and likable. Cillian and Aoife were attracted to each other as soon as they saw one another. I loved that Cillian decided to go after Aoife when she left without them getting to talk to one another. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Cillian is the owner of the pub and the moment he lays eyes on Aoife he knows that she is the one for him. When she leave the pub he follows her out and ends up asking her out. They have an amazing time together Aoife is drawn to the man that has followed her from the pub. Will Cillian have a chance to claim Aoife's heart?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. When I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short standalone love story that is part of the Getting Lucky series. After her mother passes away, Aoife goes to Ireland to see where her mother was from. She winds up going into a bar called Getting Lucky in Duthmoore and that changed her world. Cillian believes that he is content with his life. He would have probably continued with that thought if only an American woman would not have walked into his bar. He knows that she is what he needs in his life more than anything. Aoife and Cillian have an instant attraction that leads them to a sweet but steamy relationship. I really enjoyed the characters and their story. I thought it was a well written short love story

Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, and shenanigans the good kind that makes you keep turning the pages till last page has been turned. Aoife wanted a fresh start and decided to move to her mother’s homeland and her brother introduces her to Cillian. From the moment of introduction, the attraction and chemistry pull is so intense that it can’t be ignored so they don’t ignore it and before long they are going out but is it enough?
Aoife and Cillian are a really cute couple in Jenika Snow's Bottoms Up. Aoife moves to Ireland after her mother dies. She doesn't have any other family, except a father she never met who lives in Ireland. She is doing the touristy thing when she stops in a pub and spies Cillian.
Cillian can't take his eyes off the woman who came into his pub. When she finishes her drink and leaves, he follows her and asks her out. Aoife can't stop looking at him either and of course she agrees.
This turns into the most awesome, romantic, sexy first date at an actual castle. Wow - what a date and night this turned out to be for the two of them. This is a hot little novella that is fun to read.
This is just a sweet romance with in an amazing setting. Aoife has moved to Ireland after her mother past, when she walks into the bar, the man behind the bar is like nothing she has seen before. Cillian moved to Ireland from Scotland and opened the pub, it has always been his love but now he wants more.
Bottoms Up is just a great story that is fun to get lost in. There is no drama, just two people finding love that make this a wonderful love story.

Aoife and Cillian´s story was so incredibly hot and passionate, yet tender and sweet - all rolled into a great romance! Aoife left on an adventure to Ireland to start fresh after her mom passed away. She´s incredibly sweet and caring, with a gentle soul. When Cillian sees her at his bar, he immediately knew their connection was powerful.... and he knew she was meant to be his. I love a good alpha man who falls so deep for his woman that it just consumes him! This story was incredibly well developed... it´s a short and easy read with no mayor drama or angst... just a fun, passionate, fairytale-like romance that´s not only incredibly sweet, but panty-melting HOT!

This book brings us Cillian and Aoife. After her mother dies, Aoife decides she needs a change of scenery. She moves to Ireland, her home country. She moves to Duthmoore and really loves it there. She decides to go out one night to the famous pub, "Getting Lucky" and there she and the owner Cillian share an instant connection. Their loves only grows stronger and Aoife has found the "someone" she was looking for. I am so glad that Cillian got his own story. This is a great read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
Spoilers. Aoife loses her mother and having no other family moves to Ireland. There she meets a local pub owner Scotsman Cillian. The attraction is instant and powerful. And the HEA is super sweet. I gave 4 stars because when they made love the first time they were in a garden on a table, but it kept changing to a bed. Kind of annoying and confusing because by the end of the "scene" they were in a bed without any words saying how they got there. And apparently had made love many times by that point.

Aoife finally feels at home after her mothers passing. She packs up what she needs and moves across the ocean to Ireland. Aoife doesn't realize that fate has a way with adding to her life when she walks into Getting Lucky pub in the town of Duthmore. One look at Cillian, a Scotsman and owner of the pub, Aoife knows that this is where she needs to be. Cillian is smitten with Aoife and will not let her get away. This is an insta love story that has all the romance and heat to get your heart pumping. Enjoy!
Here is another quick read in the Getting Lucky series. So here we have Aoife who is new in a small Irish town. She is still acclimating to her new environment. So she decides to stop in at the Getting Lucky pub. There she makes eye contact with Cillian. Now is there such thing as love at first sight? I mean I am pretty sure that it exists after reading this book. You can feel the electricity charging with these two. Cillian does not get a chance to see talk to her while she is in the pub so he chases her down when she is leaving. One night will change both their lives. Oh my word that one night sure is hot and steamy. Yes you will get to read about their happily ever after.
Jenika Snow has written another fantastic story that I will be reading again and again. Aoife travels to Ireland, her mom's birthplace after her death. After all she had nothing keeping her in America. She immediately feels at home in Ireland. Then she steps foot in Getting Lucky, the most popular pub in Duthmoore. Her life is changed forever when she locks eyes with Cillian, the pub's owner. Cillian is instantly drawn to Aoife and he is determined to claim her as his. He knows she belongs with him and he is going to prove to Aoife they belong together! 5 stars!
Cute holiday read for St. Patrick's Day. Aoife came to Cillian's bar while exploring Ireland. The attraction between these two was instant and hot. I loved each of these characters and thought they complimented each other very well. This author always brings the heat to her stories and this was no exception! Great read in this series, probably my favorite so far!

—>>> Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars - Following her heart, Aoife makes her way to her parents’ homeland, and there, she makes her way to Duthmoore’s most famous pub, Getting Lucky. Instant sizzling attraction leads to Cillian chasing the one girl who had ever stolen his attention that quickly, and the rest is history…in the form of good epilogues! Cute, sexy and sweet read!
The author has pulled us into the lives of Aoife and Cillian and never lets go. When her mother dies, Aoife decides to follow the advice she was given and moves to the homeland, Ireland, of her mother. As she investigates her new town, she encounters Cillian at the local pub. Once they lock eyes, things will never be the same for either of them.

A cute little Irish story! Aoife moves to Ireland to discover her moms roots and meets Cillian and their connection is instant. Cillian knows immediately Aoife is his future and is very possessive and obsessed with her it was so cute. The story was lacking a little depth im all for Insta love but definitely felt like part of the story was missed or skipped. But besides that still a cute story!

Bottoms Up by Jenika Snow. This story is part of the Getting Lucky series and can be read as a standalone. Aoife has found her way to Duthmoore and luckily for Cillian she walked into his pub Getting Lucky and the rest as they say is history. I felt a pull to this couple instantly and knew we were in for a treat as they navigate their feeling and choices. Great contemporary romance with mild drama, plenty of heat, emotional pull and attraction between main characters that sucks you in. I would recommend to others. After Aoife's mother died, she went to Ireland, her mother's homeland. While there, she meets Cillian in his bar and it's instant attraction between them. I did have a bit of trouble getting use to Cillian's way of talking but I worked through it just fine. The story is a quick read and a hot one. I can always count on Ms. Snow to write something that lets me get lost for an hour or so. Getting to follow Cillian and Aoife's relationship and then their life together in the epilogues is wonderful. That's one that I love about this author, we get to see how the characters are doing later on in their lives. Loved it!
