Nature breeds new life with the sign of Spring in the air in Leavensport, Ohio, and Jolie and Ava find their new families’ lives turned upside down! With properties in Leavensport beginning to sell, Nina Sanchez opened a bakery after purchasing the lot next to M&M’s Italian restaurant. She is new to town and swears to Ava and Jolie she has no connection to the Dominican Republic Sanchez mafia family. Yet, Ava is skeptical, and this sends Jolie and Ava off on yet another investigation looking at how organized crime connects to their little village and the politics that surround it. Meanwhile, Nina Sanchez is not thrilled to feel obliged to cross-sell and become a full-fledged member of Leavensport, especially not with Jolie and Ava investigating her history. She has no choice when her son discovers a murdered homeless woman on the street on his way to deliver bread to the local shelter—it looks a lot like a mob hit and the reveal of who the homeless woman is will send all of Leavensport on alert making Jolie question the future of her town. Welcome to Leavensport, Ohio, where DEATH takes a DELICIOUS turn!
Moving into her second decade working in education, Jodi Rath has decided to begin a life of crime in her The Cast Iron Skillet Mystery Series. Her passion for both mysteries and education led her to combine the two to create her business MYS ED, where she splits her time between working as an adjunct for Ohio teachers and creating mischief in her fictional writing. She currently resides in a small, cozy village in Ohio with her husband and her nine cats.
Another win for this series, I highly recommend every single book from this author. Jolie, Ava, Mick, Delilah and the crew are solving more problems in their cozy town and it's taking a bit of a turn. I loved this book and would recommend to anyone but I'm also really excited for another installment for the quaint wonderful town of Leavensport.
Monkey Bread Business was an interesting read. You're first pulled in with the dynamics of the new business owners not understanding the town's practice of cross-selling. It's not long before the reader almost forgets there's a restaurant involved as they are absorbed into the mystery of who the Sanchez family is and if there is any connection to a murder that has taken place.
With restaurant owners, Private Investigators, FBI, and local police all on high alert, it makes for some good reading. I loved that I was able to sit down and read this story in one setting. Now that the crime has been solved, I wouldn't mind moving to this little town.
I received a copy of this book as part of Great Escapes Book Tours. This is my unsolicited, unbiased review.
I am taking another trip to Leavensport Ohio with book 6 in the The Cast Iron Skillet series. Firstly OMG Jolie is married! I missed book five but knew it was coming, im so happy for her.
Now as well as married life, Ava’s news and a possible connection to Dominican mafia ties Jolie has her work cut out as once again her quiet little town is again awash with murder and mayhem.
This is a series that I have really enjoyed reading and you can easily start anywhere with any book as there is enough back story provided that will more help you connect the pieces all together. Like I say I missed reading book 5 but didn’t miss a beat reading this one.
I love the little town life, the characters and of course the amazing recipes at the end of the book. I can’t wait to see what is in store for out duo next!
I loved chocolate capers and Italian restaurant all the delicious food that they made, love how they include recipes to make some things that make at the restaurant.
