I have long enjoyed Carol Moncado's books. I am a follower of the British monarchy and love royalty so her long standing royalty books are quite fun to read. I do have a hard time keeping up since most overlap. Still, she puts together a good story and they are very enjoyable.

My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review.

If you’ve read The Spare and the Heir about Gabe and Esme, this story is about Gabe’s brother, and is the first book in a series called Tiaras and True Love. If you haven’t read The Spare and the Heir, I recommend you read it first so that you have more background about what’s going on as The Heart of the King begins. (Note: Jazz does appear a few times in her friend Tessa’s story, Small Town Girls Don’t Marry Their Best Friends, but not much is said about her background, so you don’t need to read it before Heart of the King).

I enjoyed reading this book. Moncado develops some new “villains” to provide plot twists and challenges. The characters grow and mature and fall in love in classic Moncado style. Characters from other books show up all the time, and plot threads from several books continue to weave together. If you haven’t read any Moncado books, I’m not sure you should start with this one, but it’s a great addition to her list of books.

It was a good book. I liked David and Jasmine, I loved how they handled things. Despite being married too quickly, they didn't rush their relationship, they went with their own rhythm, that's what I loved about them

THE STORY

Jazz, fresh off a whirlwind elopement that ended in the death of her new husband, is now a young widow looking to drown her sorrows during a bachelorette trip in Vegas. After a one night stand, she wakes up to find out that she didn't just go home with a guy - she married him!

And he's not just any guy. He's soon to be crowned King of a country in turmoil. And he needs a Queen at his side to keep things steady. Jazz is pretty sure she can help advocate for women's rights and win the hearts of her new subjects - but will she also win her new husband's?

THE ROMANCE

David is a reformed playboy, but we rarely see any examples of these tendencies. Jazz is excellent and steady in her new role, and I enjoyed seeing her find her place in the palace and demonstrate to David that she was a good match for him as a partner and a wife.

Most of the conflict in the book is external - the drama of the romance comes from their strange situation, not about miscommunications or misunderstandings. David and Jazz, when they do butt heads, hash things out with clear, honest dialogue. There aren't many sparks, just two people connecting with each other over circumstances and shared values.

FAITH ELEMENTS

Although this book is listed as a Christian romance, faith doesn't play much of a part in the story. It's sprinkled throughout some dialogue, and there are some references to the Biblical figure of King David, but it's a much lighter touch than any other Christian romance I've read so far.

MY THOUGHTS

Whew - this was an incredibly fast paced book with enough twists and surprises that, in another author's style, could have made for an entire full length romance! The book is absolutely crammed - a surprise child to raise, a yacht in peril, political treaties, scandals, family tragedy.

It even starts fast. The characters are already married when they wake up after a drunken one-night stand, and things just get wilder from there. Details, side characters, and world building all come whizzing by, making this a definite page turner.

Even though The Heart of the King is listed as the first book in its "Tiaras & True Love" series, it is NOT the first book set in this world or amongst these characters. At times, the density of backstory is a little much, and I would have preferred to spend more time with just Jazz and David, exploring the royal life and their new relationship. However, it definitely captures how Jazz must have felt after being suddenly thrust into the role of a Queen!

What happens if you wake up and find yourself married to someone you don’t even remember meeting? Well, that’s the start of this newest book in the many “royal” stories written by Carol Moncado.
In this story, we find two individuals who make a decision while not really thinking clearly and it changes the rest of their lives. Each one has something in their pasts that weighs heavy on them and if they want to make their new life together last, they need to work through those things. Throw into this mix the fact that one of them is from a royal family AND he’s about to be crowned king!
If that isn't enough add to the mix some twisted suspense that will keep you reading not able to put it down!
Carol Moncado is an expert in writing stories that will take you deep into the lives of “royalty” and the world of “royals.”
I love the whole world she has created with these books. She continues to write books in which we get a glimpse of what it might be like to live in a world like Cinderella.
If you LOVE reading stories regarding royalty and all that life can bring, then you really need to pick this book up and read it! You won't be disappointed.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Swoon Worthy? Of Course!

From the moment she wakes up in a hotel room in Vegas (and she's not with her friend Tessa) to staring down a snobbish stylist, Jazz is someone you have to cheer for. She's strong - and she needs to be, but she's compassionate. She isn't willing to let herself be walked all over. Stephen Charles David Chauncey has turned over a new leaf, so it's been a while since he woke up in a hotel room with a hangover. He has chosen to make better decisions, to not follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. He has a lot to learn, but he's willing to listen to those in the position to help him be the best King he can be.

Jazz is so much fun, she makes me want to put blue and green streaks in my hair (or may be purple and pink). Her King is indeed lovable - even if he can be a jerk occasionally!

As an avid reader of Ms. Moncado, I have been looking forward to learning more about this king that had been mentioned in her previous books. This book begins with Jasmine and David waking up to realize that they are married. David figures out that it will work out better for him and his country if they stay married. He just has to convince Jasmine that it is in her best interest to stay married as well. Readers will discover if the two of them can learn how to work together and how to love each other. There are several surprises in this book. This marriage of convenience book is a charming tale! I loved learning more about this country and more about the main characters. I am looking forward to reading more in this series! I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed!

Be a royal for a day. This romance is a delightful April read for Queen Elizabeth's birthday and after the funeral of her beloved husband. Carol Moncado mentions existing European monarchies, especially mentioning British royalty (Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, and Prince Charles). The Heart of the King is an inspiring page turning romance with secret castle passages, relatable characters who work for change in their kingdoms, unexpected plot twists and a satisfying resolution. Even though A Heart of the King is the start to a new series, Carol Moncado weaves characters and conflicts from her other royalty books into this new series. Intrigue, mystery, romance, and a glimpse of being a royal.

The Heart of the King: Contemporary Christian Romance (Tiaras & True Love Book 1) by the awesome Carol Moncado is another winner. Put I'm partial, I love all her books. This is the story of Jasmine Roberts of Trumanville and Crown Prince with too many names of Auverignon. The story opens unexpectedly. Just to say these two got married on a whim. Read to find out more. All the little nuances we love from Carol's book. Twists and turns we don't expect. And of course seeing old friends from previous books is what I love about her stories.

She weaves Gods love, forgiveness and understanding in this story. Something we all need to be reminded up, or I do. Read Jasmines and Kings David story. It will enchant, delight and keep you on the edge of your seat. Read and be blessed.

David and Jasmine wake up one morning married, neither one sure how it happened. She doesn't know he's a prince, about to become King of his country. They need to stay married at first, but the possibility of annulment later might be an option. Will they use that option or will they commit for the long haul? This story grabbed my attention from page one and never let go. The characters quickly became people I could root for .and wish the best for. As always with this author's books, the settings are vibrant, the stories, while sharing a common theme, are fresh and original. Truly a joy to read.

Family Joys and Sorrows

Although I have enjoyed many books in the Royals series by Carol Moncado, this one broke my heart. I was disappointed in several areas. First the way in which the couple met and married immediately. Secondly there's no record of repentance which was sorely needed. There is more drinking on and on throughout the story. These books are supposed to be Christian fiction, but yet the Bible clearly describes the sin of drinking in the book of Proverbs chapters 20 and 23 for starters.
Parts of the story are very good. I particularly liked Hazel. And another secondary character I enjoyed was Mrs. Steedley.

David and Jazz spend the night together and find out they don’t remember the slip of paper they also find before parting ways. Jazz heads to Auvergnonion with David to help him with some changes needed in the country. Fast moving story, as these two get to know each other better, as well as meeting Hazel, Mrs. Sneedly, Sarah and Steward, we also see Les and Lux (who worked for Daniel and Esther), King Edward, King Benjamin, Queen Katrin, Astrid, Queen Esme and Gabe (David’s brother), Justin, Jonathan, Thor and a few others. Beautiful start to a new series and I can’t wait to see where they author takes us with the rest of the series.

Great story

A great story, some intrigue & posturing for kingdom control. Glad the king came to better thinking & quit his partying ways. I believe he was still partying in previous stories.
This author did an excellent job of providing updates of previous books\characters. She didn't go on rabbit trails with whole chapters of another person's story. Instead, the characters all met @ en event which gave the author a chance to add a few sentences of their current situation. Awesome & didn't make the story bog down in rabbit trails.
The girl grew & with her character, instinctively knew how to be royal.

Winning story

A drunken night in Vegas has consequences for Jazz, one that finds her married to a prince who's about to become a king. Married - tick; falling in love and winning the heart of a king? That's a little more complicated. I found Jazz's character fun, kind, and mature when she needed to be. The king stepped up and I had to admire how he took control. I love this author's books and this one is no exception. Definitely a winning story. I'm also looking forward to the next in this new series.

Ms. Moncado's books are never a disappointment. They are happily ever afters with trouble and drama. There are always ties back to previous characters, and I love that. Also, she ties in current British monarchy issues (Prince Phillips passing.) I love her royal monarchs from her fictional countries. I look forward to seeing more from David and Jazz and see what happens to them in future books.

Great story

I enjoyed reading The Heart of the King and Jazz and David's story. David and Jazz married each other on a drunken whim, but Jazz doesn't realize he's a prince who is going to become king. The prince had made some bad choices in the past but has a change of heart and wanted to start anew, including changing his name to David. Jazz is an unique person and stood true to herself, refusing to change her appearance but works on winning the people's hearts as their new queen.

It was an okay Read…

I love Royal Romance Novels. But sometimes the author makes things a little too unbelievable. There were also a few “blunders” in this book. Example, when they woke up married she had a ring on and a ring in the press photo.. but later in the story they spoke of her not having a ring at all and him buying her a ring.

There were also quite a few grammatical errors. The story was good, but it wasn’t WOW. And it was too short.

Entering into this new series with hints to past characters in it, was a spot of happiness on my weekend.
There is just something about a book by this author, that gives me joy. A fairy tale like story that happens in a not so fairy tale like way, will help you relate to the characters, believing in the story.

Another terrific book from Carol Moncado.
From an unlikely start, Jazz and David negotiate a life together. They learn to trust each other and love follows. What I loved most is that this book had some twists that truly surprised me and that resolution took time and effort. Sometimes in life the best things can come from a truly bad decision.

Another great book by a great author! Loved getting to know these characters and how old characters were still around to check in on. I love that you never really have to leave characters when you finish a book because they will always show up again! I as given a copy of this book by the publisher. The thoughts and opinions are all mine.

This is another addition to our royal/small town favorites. It seems like we're seeing more of these couple finding themselves in compromising positions. I did like Jazz, she is strong and confident. David wanted to be better than the examples lived with. I feel that they will be a great couple and do a lot of good.

*I was given an arc for an honest review

Book candy. Goes down easy and quickly. No real substance.
I don’t mind that at all, but I did mind the plot lines either were wrapped up in a quick and unsatisfactory bow (“and then they finally sat down to talk about his secret past, and he admitted everything without any new details and she just said okay.”) or were not wrapped up at all so you buy the rest of the books in the series.

Good read.

I hadn't read this author before but I will read more from her now. The story moved along smoothly. The thoughts, the action & drama was well put together. Also, great editing. I liked the relationship between each player & the Christian theme throughout. All the loose ends were neatly but believability tied up.
Definitely recommend this book & author.

Great characters

I really enjoyed getting to know the main characters. A little different than the typical protagonists in these books but great! And there’s a joke in here about Benjamin’s step father’s name that had me legitimately giggling.

Loved Jazzy!!

This book held some surprises. I must have missed the accident of Queen Mariam. That hurt my heart a little. I loved getting to know David and Jasmine and seeing all my “friends” from the previous books.
