Well, Diane, I don't know if my books are ever going to be on the shelves of libraries, but I'm sure as hell going to try.
When I'm not writing stories destined to be bestsellers, I enjoy devouring TV shows, listening to every type of music there is and going to concerts, reading pretty much anything (with a soft spot for romance and certain books located in 18th century Scotland), obsessing over makeup, and pretending to workout.
I also have a fondness for cats, my family, tattoos, and a really good French fry.

With this heart-wrenchingly beautiful semiautobiographical story, Kelsey Kingsley has courageously laid bare her heart. The writing is stripped down and honest, laced with a grit and vulnerability that can only come from an author who knows from which she speaks.
And, holy hannah, y'all - it hit me right where I live. There were moments that felt so familiar to me because I also lived them. There were moments that took me right back to the birth of my first baby - and I felt Kenny's confusion, her fear, her panic. I felt it, because in a different way, for a different reason, and with a different outcome - I lived it too.
I'm guessing there are a lot of us out there that are going to feel this one on a bone deep level. I am honored to be a part of this sisterhood.
As is the case with so many of Ms. Kingsley's stories - this is a love story that is so much bigger than the romance nestled within it.
I mean, I don't want to sell the romance short because it is completely lovely. Goose is the most insanely huggable, instantly lovable heroes I've met in a long time. The love that blossomed between him and Kenny was so sweet, so patient, and so achingly tender - I adored them so much.
But the love story is so much bigger than that.
It's about the love of a warrior mama for her warrior baby. A love story that had its own complicated beginning and unique trajectory. A love story that was powerful and inspiring and worth every moment spent reading this book.
It's about the love we show ourselves by giving ourselves grace and forgiving ourselves for all the ways we fail.
It's about learning to pivot, and embracing the unexpected and choosing love even when we feel like we don't deserve it.
It's a big, big story. A true love story. The best kind.
The epilogue felt like a gift after the emotional heaviness of the book. It was almost Inception-esque -- done in a perfectly fun, playful way. It was the perfect high note on which to end the story. These characters - and the story they were given - were so special. I have so much love for them. They filled my heart to bursting and left an indelible impression upon it. I started this book two hours ago fully intending only to read a few chapters before going to bed, and now here I am, with a tear-soaked pillow and a heavy yet happy heart. My god, this book was absolutely fucking beautiful. I have no words other than that. I don't even feel like I've been reading for the last few hours-- that's how captivated I was in the story. And knowing that Kelsey actually went through this with her own pregnancy & delivery? I can't imagine living through all of that, much less writing about it too. But I am so, so glad she did. This is one of the best, no, this is THE best book I have ever read. And the so fucking important. Please, please go read this book. Right now.
**I might add a more refined review tomorrow, but all I can say is this book holds such a big piece of my heart and soul that I don't want back. I am just in awe.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.

I struggled to connect with the story, but I persevered and managed to finish. It is difficult to understand how she stayed in a relationship where the guy had no respect or consideration for her. But thankfully, in the midst of tribulations, she managed to come out with a better person.

I was really looking forward to this but I just could not get into it at all. Also had a hard time connecting with the characters.

Kendall is 35 years old and lives in a little apartment in New York City.
She's finally able to halfway live from the money she makes being a romance author. For the last three years she has been dating Brendan - on and off .
And now we're suddenly pregnant.
Brendan is not really on board with the whole thing.
But maybe Goose will be.
The sexy barkeeper Kendall met the day she found out she was pregnant.
But he's dating this hot blonde. And it's not his kid, plus Brendan is still around...
What will happen with Kendall, Goose and the baby??
We'll see ....

I hate feet. Like really hate them. Same with noses, but there's no nose on the cover here. And yes, I know, that's a cute baby foot. But still. I can't look at feet. Ew. Sorry.
Kelsey's covers are always beautiful - except the last one - I hate red too. LOL! But usually her covers are just absolutely amazing.
So I'm just going to not look at this cover. Or the Currently Reading graphic that was sent to us bloggers - there are TWO feet on that thing. Wrinkly little thingies that look like they belong to a 80 year old - not to a baby.
Okay - foot rant over.
The story.
I was a bit afraid to read this.
No one who picks up a romance wants sad and heartbreaking things to happen to the people in the book. And the blurb already tells us that there will be lots of fights to fight through.
And yes - there's a lot of sad and heartbreaking baby stuff in here. But it's also a very cute and sexy and funny love story!
The baby-in-the-hospital part was hard, but it was also beautiful and full of hope. Of course we're scared of everything that can go wrong, but we just hope that everything will end up okay. And the hospital part is not the whole book. Not at all. We also find time to get our happily ever after with Goose. I loved Goose. He's a great guy. But I just didn't love-love the falling for each other part. I didn't get any relationship vibes from Goose and Kenny. They're just good friends and then suddenly they're in love. I didn't feel it. I also didn't really love their ages! Kenny seems to immature and she's nowhere near a place in life where a mid-thirties person should be. If someone would tell me that Kenny was 23 or 27 I would totally believe it.
But I still loved reading it. The story was cute and sweet and hard and scary.
SCARS & SILVER LININGS was a beautiful, funny, sweet + heartbreaking love story.
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Goose - he'll be sold out in no time!

A poignant story about the highs and lows of pregnancy and childbirth, with a sweet and unexpected romance blossoming along the way.
While this is a fictional story, as the author mentions early on, much of what is written chronicles her own path to motherhood. And she delivers that emotional journey flawlessly. On the fictional side is the romance that begins when "a girl named Kenny walks into a bar and meets a guy named Goose" (this is in quotes because it is actually referenced more than once in the book). What makes their story unexpected is that Goose is not the father of Kenny's baby. But he is there the day she confirms of its conception.
Given that tidbit of information, you'd expect this to be an angsty story. It is not. I won't lie, Brendan, who is Kenny's on again off again boyfriend, and father of the baby, is a scene wrecker. Almost every scene he was in, I wanted to punch him. No, he isn't a cheater (that I'm aware of), or physically abusive. But he borders on being emotionally abusive, and barely puts an effort or thought into his impending fatherhood. Instead, the man who offers support, advice, and a shoulder to cry on is that bartender, Eric Nevard, aka Goose. I loved this man! He does everything right and it is easy to see why Kenny began to have second thoughts about her jerk boyfriend. I won't detail how the relationship between Kenny and Goose develops, other than to say it felt natural and not over the top angsty.
If you are a mother, like I am, there are so many relatable moments in this story (note: you don't have to be a mother to enjoy the beauty of this story). Having to go through my own emergency C-section, there was more than one scene that brought tears and a whole lot of memories. Knowing that those scenes were personal to this author, made everything that much more significant.
Some stories you read, review and move on.
Some stories you connect with, are absorbed by, and think about well beyond the last page.
This story is that latter.

“A girl named Kenny walks into a bar and meets a guy named Goose,”
“Sounds like the premise of one of those chick flicks or something.”
Who would've thunk that such a beguiling, light hearted line would set premise for a heart-wrenching story to follow.
Kelsey is a sensitive, compassionate writer. her prose is poignant and emotionally saturated on a good day. But when she decides to write from a personal, harrowing experience, it gets more Laden with guilty sentiments and awe-inspiring courage.
"I loved using my stories as a way to tell the truths no one likes to speak."
It broke my heart at most places, twisted in some, giving me brief smiles in between.. A true to life dramatic story which should be read by all women, mothers or not. The excruciating pain that only a mother can feel is highlighted tenfold, till tears flowed heavily from my eyes and my hands tried to clench the tiny hands in the Isolette.
It starts off innociously as a fluffy romantic tete-a-tete between Kendall Wright, an author, who's had her world just turned on it's head and the sexy, burly bartender with reddish brown hair, Eric "Goose" Nevard.. So Very Viking!!
"Of all the bars I could've stumbled into that day in September, I happened to stumble into his."
She needs to vent and drink and he's the perfect ear for heavy hearts and a concocter of killer drinks.
Their talks begin and one thing should've led to another but alas, both are tied up in their respective corners. Him with a girlfriend, she with a boyfriend and a baby on the way.
The story dips in lowest of lows of human despair and helplessness and peaks in superhuman efforts of bravery and hope. There's a whole spectrum of tears and laughter in between. Simple joys of life with pets, fierce loyalty of families and disdainful lack of morality on some characters parts.
Goose is big in size and bigger by heart. He's a caretaker, a rock that holds solid amidst the raging storm in Kenny's world.
"Those are your silver linings, Kenny. Don’t lose sight of them, even when everything else gets really dark and ugly. That’s what’s important, and as long as you remember that, you’re gonna be okay.”
She's a scrappy girl, who's stuck in an unwanted, unfortunate situation of not her choosing.but giving up and walking away is not in her constitution. She steps up, despite the overwhelming odds against her.
I've only ever read her book, Where We Went Wrong and it's somewhat tied to that book by a tiny, flimsy thread.
Kelsey documents daily struggles and slow progresses and debilitating setbacks in harrowing details. Just reading it gave me palpitations and to think that she went through something similar in real life, just made me appreciate her strength as a human being so much more. Only a mother can fight so hard by holding onto tiny hands and never give up.
Huge round of applause for Kelsey for such a remarkably valiant story of a resolute and tenacious woman, she fights the Gods and..wins!!!

When you only look at the scars, the silver linings are harder to find. You have look past those dark clouds to appreciate the warm day and beautiful sunshine like the gift it's meant to be.
Kendall/Kenny has settled for less than she deserves for a very long time and the cracks in some of her choices of are becoming glaringly apparent to her. A crappy boyfriend and then up pops a surprising turn- the very unexpected pink lines that say- time has run out now, to stay or go? What will it be as a 'girl walks into a bar' to clear her head!
The girl is Kendall, the bar is The Thirsty Goose and the man is Eric, aka Goose, the fascinating, introspective bartender/owner that captures her fancy the minute they catch a glimpse of each other. Smitten friendship coming right up as that same old song keeps playing on the jukebox! Their time together becomes everything but this can't be!! What's a guy and girl to do? Only time and a great story will tell.
A crooked, winding path to love? A heart-twister of a story, but in the most amazing of ways? Not just because of the girl and the guy, but because of the journey where the pinks lines will take Kenny, Goose and you, the reader.
Some of the many highlights for me- Kenny's perfect career twist, seeing Moe, Vinnie, Andy and a few others tucked in. The pizza shop, well, you'll have to see why! Discovering how Goose got that nickname was worth the wait and so was the man himself.. he's a very special guy in so many ways...I think I'm in love!!!!
As I read along, I was taken back 30 years to my own unexpected experience as a first time mother- a baby boy in the NICU, afraid and unsure- not how it was supposed to go but it paled in comparison to this. I haven't had a book affect me with these tearful swings of emotion in so long, I can't even remember. The tender, raw, haunting quality of this one will be with me, probably forever....seriously.
You might think the ending would be sad, but no! It's beyond joyful, but getting there has its ups, downs and sideways! There are bright, beautiful moments to celebrate and balance out Kenny's story- laughter, joy, hope and the power of love, a mother's love above all of the rest. If you don't have tears of some variety streaming down your face at some point in this story, you might want to look in the mirror and say..WTH...am I still alive here???

You see, with a few exceptions, this book is her story as well. I was awed by her strength in the face what she had to go through and the precious gift she fought so hard to protect and love.
Kelsey Kingsley has such a masterful grasp of the written word and her writing has expanded into a whole new realm with Scars and Silver Linings. Her style is bursting with humanity as her talent just keeps growing and evolving with every new story she blesses her lucky readers with. Make sure to read this one.

Aside from perhaps an autobiography, never have I read a more vulnerable, honest work where the author has put so much of herself in a fictional story. Through the character of a single and pregnant Kenny, Kingsley lays herself bare in these pages, sharing her fears, uncertainties, and all the raw, messy minutiae of a traumatic life event. She bleeds her every emotion into these characters, leaving her bruised and battered heart to syncopate through each word, breathing poignant, stunning, unforgettable life into this story.
Another uniqueness of this story, which may be more women's fiction than romance, is in the lives of the characters. When Kenny and Goose first meet, and through a large part of the storyline, they’re each in a relationship, so friendship is the only thing each has to offer. Rather than a slow burn, this is a tiny, precious ember that is oh, so gently fanned and handled with utmost care until finally, when the stars align, the flame comes to life.
Even having never given birth, this book ruined me and I found myself slammed with wave after wave of emotion time and again. I can only imagine its impact on birth mothers, but the most painful of emotions experienced in these pages are worth the read of this unparalleled, captivating story.
In the most evocative, lyrical prose we are reminded that in the worst of life's circumstances fear, doubt and anger are to be expected and even embraced. Any person can rise from the ashes with a tempered strength, a firmer resolve, and a beautifully refined soul. Yes, each circumstance is different, but we are never alone in our suffering because this is a part of the human condition.

Another uniqueness of this story, which may be more women's fiction than romance, is in the lives of the characters. When Kenny and Goose first meet, and through a large part of the storyline, they’re each in a relationship, so friendship is the only thing each has to offer. Rather than a slow burn, this is a tiny, precious ember that is oh, so gently fanned and handled with utmost care until finally, when the stars align, the flame comes to life.
Even having never given birth, this book ruined me and I found myself slammed with wave after wave of emotion time and again. I can only imagine its impact on birth mothers, but the most painful of emotions experienced in these pages are worth the read of this unparalleled, captivating story.
In the most evocative, lyrical prose we are reminded that in the worst of life's circumstances fear, doubt and anger are to be expected and even embraced. Any person can rise from the ashes with a tempered strength, a firmer resolve, and a beautifully refined soul. Yes, each circumstance is different, but we are never alone in our suffering because this is a part of the human condition.

Scars & Silver Linings by Kelsey Kingsley is a slow burn contemporary romance told from the single first person perspective of the female main character, Kendall Wright, aka Kenny. The story follows her as she deals with the issues that come along with an unexpected pregnancy, an absent boyfriend, an attractive new friend, a premature delivery, and a baby in the NICU.
I loved this beautiful, emotional story! I loved Kenny - and Goose is the kind of book boyfriend dreams are made of. He's so sweet and supportive with a troubled past that makes him the perfect person to help Kenny through her hard times. I used lots of tissues as I read this in one sitting. Even now, three days later as I write this review, I'm tearing up again. That's how deeply the story affected me.

Scars & Silver Linings is another real and raw story from Kelsey Kingsley, one that will hit hard for many readers. It deals with something a lot of people experience, something that is never quite given the attention it should receive, and it brings to life all the conflicting emotions that the experience is made up of.
I’ll be honest, although this one hit hard it is not my favourite Kelsey Kingsley read. That is not to say it is a bad book – far from it – but I have enjoyed other books from the author a bit more. This, however, does not take away from how hard this one hit me. It pulled at my heartstrings throughout, leaving me an emotional mess at so many points in the story. It’s personal, it’s real, and it hits the tough notes that real life is made up of. Filled with highs and lows, it is a story that cannot be put down until you’ve seen the happiness at the end.
Without a doubt, this is one to read if you’re looking for something true and hard hitting.

I couldn't wait to read this book. Knowing Ms. Kingsley's story I knew how real and emotional this story would be. And it was emotional, but it was also sweet and funny. Because despite the obstacles the Kenny faced, she still kept her sarcastic sense of humor through it all. and that is what I loved. It was not all hearts and unicorns, but also not all doom and gloom either. The peer blend of both. It made you smile, laugh, swoon and broke your heart at times.
Kenny is 35 years old living in a small apartment in New York City. She just found out that she is pregnant and somehow ends up at a bar, contemplating how she will tell her boyfriend and what is the next step from here. While sitting at the bar sipping her water she meets the Goose, the owner of the bar. Right away there is this connection between them, their conversation is one of ease and comfort. But he has a girlfriend and Kenny has a boyfriend and expecting. Not really the best time to go after the sext bartender.
Kenny's boyfriend, Brendan is a bit of a flake but also a complete douche in my opinion. He freaks out when he finds out that she is pregnant, Wanting the baby one minute and ready to walk away the next. His flip flopping back and forth drove me insane. When Kenny's baby has to be delivered early, she is left with not knowing whether or not he will survive. She is faced with a long tough road ahead, and the one person she can count on is Goose. Brendan is at some point out of the picture but that was completely ok with me. It left room for sexy Goose to step in. Will their amazing friendship turn into something more?
There was so much that I loved about this book but I think it was the friendship and connection between Kenny and Goose that I loved the most. From the moment they met it was as if they had known each other forever. There was such an ease to the conversations. I loved how much he was there for her, even as just a friend. And how she called him when she needed someone to lean on. Goose has his own past where he fought his own demons. He understands the emotions that Kenny is going through more than anyone. It was so beautiful to watch their friendship grow into something more
Scars and Silver Linings was beautiful story about courage, strength and fight. Kenny wasn't just fighting her own emotions, she was fighting for her son and Goose was right there with her. This story was so real, and filled Sith so many emotions. I admired Kenny so much, just for the amount of strength showed alone. There were times when she broke down and wasn't sure how to be strong, but she somehow found a way. She never gave up. Goose can into her life at the perfect time. He truly was the perfect person for her. He was kind, understanding, loving and it helped that he was sexy.
I loved this book. and I loved the ending even more, especially seeing how close their blended little family was. Just perfect.

Let me tell you a story about a girl named Kenny who walks into a bar and meets a guy named Goose. Yep, that is the basis of Scars & Silver Linings, but it is oh so much more than that.
Kenny finds out she's unexpectedly pregnant, and just as she's beginning to settle into the idea of life with a baby and her on-again/0ff-again boyfriend, the unthinkable happens and she finds herself as a single mom to a baby that is in the NICU and can't even come home with her. As her friendship with Goose grows, he becomes more than just a friend. That Viking-like guy becomes her rock. Can they find a HEA like Kenny writes in her romance novels?
I was so emotional throughout much of this story. Now, maybe it's because I "know" this author from her social media. I have followed her real life story of her pregnancy, emergency delivery, and NICU baby. I know that "Kenny" is very much a part of Kelsey Kingsley. Aside from that though, this book is just REAL LIFE. It's not pretty, it's not sugarcoated, and there isn't added angst or drama just for the sake of a good story. This is just real, and it's heartbreaking at times, but the hurt only makes the HEA that much sweeter.
And let me tell you about Goose! I liked Goose when I first met him in a previous book and I seriously fell in love with him here. He has a troubled past and a heart of gold, and he was exactly what Kenny and her little baby needed.
This story seriously gave me ALL. THE. FEELS. I laughed, I cried, and I was left with a smile but still wanting just a little bit more. I've said before that Kelsey Kinsley is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated authors out there. She never disappoints and every single book is 5-stars for me. She's done again with Scars & Silver Linings.

I'm following this author for a while now and I absolutely love her books. Her writing is always great, honest, realistic, touching, beautiful - just fantastic. This one is extra special because of the autobiographical aspects in this book.
I absolutely don't want to rate this work or the author and her feelings, because I have no right to do so. For me she's an amazing author and an even more amazing person and mother. This book shows just how amazing she is. I can not imagine how I would act or think if I were in the same situation.
STRONG, that's what Kenny is on every single page in this book, what every single word in this book is. Kenny's (and baby Alex') strength is awe-inspiring. And I love how supportive and wonderful Goose is, he's the perfect complement to Kenny and Alex. Their story made me cry (but not out of pity) AND put a smile on my face.
I absolutely recommend this amazing book 😍. And I want to say thank you to Kelsey, for sharing her story with us.

If you know anything about this author and her life experiences, you’ll know just how big a risk she took in writing this story. If you don’t know, then you’ll marvel at the rawness and grit and pain and fear and worry and hope and and and that are within these pages. Because this story isn’t just one that she researched. Oh, no. She broke herself apart to write about one of the hardest times of her life. And I don’t mean Brendan or Goose or even Kenny’s love for her cat. I mean what Kenny’s going through. So with that said, get the tissues ready. You’re gonna need them.
This story didn’t shy away from anything. Kenny isn’t ready for what her life will bring, but she still wants it. Brendan is...let’s be kind and say not present, but Kenny still tries to be decent with him. Goose is the friend she didn’t know she needed, but he’s the rock when things go from worrisome to bad to terrifying. And while this isn’t your stereotypical romance, it IS so utterly full of love and the road from “friends” to “everything” that I couldn’t put it down. And you know what? I didn’t even need or want it to be anything other than what it is. Its perfect and gives Kenny and Goose exactly what they needed. It also gives readers a glimpse into characters from some of her other books and the happiness at knowing that life is still working out for others who have had their stories told, which made this all the more satisfying to read.

5* Unexpected Friendships
I knew when I read this semiautobiographical novel that involved a premature birth that it would be filled with a full range of emotions that would pull at your heartstrings. It did not disappoint!
When Kendall finds out that she has fallen pregnant accidentally, she is in two minds about what to do. She is in an on again/off again relationship with Brendan who is self-centred, inattentive and very unlikeable! When she befriends Goose, she finds in him everything that Brendan is not. He is selfless and generous and everything you could ask for in a friend. Their friendship blossoms and he becomes her rock and hero when complications arise in her pregnancy.
Kendall’s journey is not easy to read especially when she gives birth 3 months before her due date. You will feel her pain and uncertainty whilst dealing with the unknown in the hospital. You will also have big smiles on your faces for the wonderful caring NICU Nurses which were pivotal to Kendall’s healing and taking charge of her life and son.
I loved this book so much! You can feel that the author put her heart and soul into writing this very emotional and heartfelt story. I salute you for your bravery in being so honest and real.

I think KU recc’d me this bc I’ve read a book by this author in the past month and I did go look and I rated it 5 stars. And this book was barely an average read.
I did check the date and it seems like it’s some of this author’s first books, so that’s probably why. She’s greatly improved since this book was released.
There was a lot wrong with it though. First off, the female mc was a romance author who talked to her cat constantly. Extremely annoying. There was a couple things that contradicted previous parts like when goose said him and whatever his gfs name was hadn’t been together long then they’re on a double date and she’s like “we’ve been together for years”
Literally a few chapters ago he said not long.
He also had a teenage daughter and if they’d been together for years why’d she disappear off the planet when they broke up on friendly terms??? Made no sense. She should’ve still been involved with his kid.
The constant “a girl named Kenny and a guy named goose” joke was not funny idk why it was made 7124274 times.
And lastly, the babydaddy drama or lack of whatever was weird and needed more detail. He had a different personality every page he was mentioned in the book.

To start off, I purposely put off reading this book till I could read it in one sitting because I knew the book was going to be one of the most emotional books I've ever read and it was. Knowing that a majority of the story line is based on the authors real life I knew it was going to be heartbreaking and beautiful because Kelsey Kingsley writes the most beautiful stories I have ever read when they aren't her story so I knew before I started this book that it would be spectacular. I'm so glad and happy to say that I was right about this book.

Scars and Silver Linings is one of those books that draws you in, but knowing that the author has used her own personal pregnancy experiences and spoken openly about the fears she felt whilst her baby was in NICU makes it all that more real. Kelsey Kingsley has opened her heart to the world, and in doing so will give so many families hope who are going through the same thing, or if read beforehand will give them a positivity that not all can give.
Kenny is in a relationship with Brendan, an on/off again relationship. But when she finds out she is pregnant he needs time to think! If you read this author before, you know she is gifted at brining real emotion to her books. Sometimes it’s a little, and others it is more. This book is filled with emotion. Being that she has real life experience with this, she has your heart strings pulled that much more. I was pulled in from the very first paragraph, unable to put it down until absolutely necessary.
The strength Kendall (Kenny) and Goose’s friendship is so strong, even with all curveballs thrown at them. Honestly, the synopsis of this book given doesn’t do it justice. The struggles Kendall goes through balancing her career, her baby daddy, and her newly found friendship with Goose are everything!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a story that quickly. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read some amazing stories already this year, but Scars & Silver Linings captivated me.
I followed the real Baby Alex’s miraculous journey from his time many would call fetus, to the adorable & strong baby he is now almost a year later. I prayed for him, and felt like I knew his family. But even IF I had been by their side, NOTHING could describe what it was like for them. For his mother. The strongest momma I know.
I’m not a sad cryer, so maybe that’s why I cried more reading S&SL. It’s pure emotion. I was scared, I was happy. I was filled with gratitude for people I know exist, like the NICU nurses and cab drivers with heart.

"Scars & Silver Linings" drew me in from page 1 and I ended up reading till 2AM because as usually, Kingsley shares her heart, connecting readers with her experience, allowing an insight into her motherhood via lovable characters, Kenny and Goose.
The friendship between Kenny and Goose is hands down my favorite part of this book. They support, encourage, defend and protect each other and it's such a lovely thing to witness. It's not easy to find books were respect and open communication trumps physical attraction.
Kingsley writes of pregnancy in a very raw way along with a journey to motherhood that is anything but typical. Her writing is honest, heartbreaking yet filled with so much joy and hope.
I truly loved this one.

Kingsley writes of pregnancy in a very raw way along with a journey to motherhood that is anything but typical. Her writing is honest, heartbreaking yet filled with so much joy and hope.

I don't have children so don't have that common ground but this story was enough to move me in so many ways. I fell for Goose so hard. He is that perfect man every woman dreams of. Kenny's strength is amazing and she always wanted the best for baby Alex no matter what that cost to her. Kelsey wrote raw emotions that will move you to tears. I really didn't think she could top Warrior Blue but this ranks up there with her greatest work in my opinion! I can't imagine how hard it would be for an author to incorporate so much of their own life into a story. Loved that we got touches of characters from the previous book too. Amazing read!

Despite being passed my bedtime I’ve just finished Scars and Silver Linings by Kelsey Kingsley and I’ve happy tears from reading this book. I was gifted an Arc, and I’m so grateful- Kelsey said it was very much her story and from reading all her books, this one is truly personal! You can feel it, in all the words and emotions that fall from each page- absolutely adored Kenny but Goose was the character I loved the most! From how he was with Kenny and the connection they had it was to me swoon worthy🥰🥰

Kelsey has let us into her heart and showed us what she went through with this semi autobiographical story. She puts into words what many mothers go through with the birth of a premature child. You feel the trials and tribulations of the young mother who not only went through the pain of a troubled pregnancy/birth, but to do it alone. But as the tile claims, there is a silver lining in her story, she finds love and triumph in the end.

Scars & Silver Linings by Kelsey Kingsley is a must-read for every woman, young and old. I devour this story, felt every emotion; it's a raw, honest, vulnerable tale about one woman's personal journey through pregnancy and birth. About missed experiences that another woman would take for granted and mourning what might have been. And oh, so many what if's, and missed opportunities. From my own experience or lack of, I related to so many things in this story and now feel that my mourning of what if was normal and expected.

This emotional journey is difficult, but so real and so breathtaking. It's a mother's greatest fear and greatest triumph. And oh, that man that loves her through it all. He is such a beautiful man. I loved Goose in Vinnie's book, and he does not disappoint. Thank you, Kelsey, for bearing your beautiful soul and sharing it with us. I am humbled to have a window into your experience and rejoice that you have the joy of your baby boy. And thanks for that playlist of amazing music that enriches the story even more!

Remarkable story... Kenny and Goose stole my heart...I cannot put into words how this book touched my soul.
Kelsey Kingsley's words are always so perfectly unique I can't describe the feelings her words always evoke within me.Its such a raw real account of the struggles of being a first time parent,and how unpredictable it will be.But its also a Love story and that story is Magnificent between Kenny and Goose.
A must read and exquisitely written I highly recommend it.
