Bank Street Stories #5

Feels Like Home

Rate this book
I had a crush on Evan King when we were kids. If I’m being totally honest, I had a crush on him all throughout high school, too.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and then out of nowhere, we had a chance encounter on the beach in Galveston. I was anxious to see him, but we connected under less than ideal circumstances. Evan had been through a lot, and I considered getting in touch with him after that. But in the end, I decided not to.

It was a twist of fate, an act of God that brought us together over a year later. I was convinced it was destiny this time. Thankfully, so was he.

Such an unforgettable beginning!

A really fun fast paced story! I love the memory that Evan had of that night on the beach. Reading that scene in the beginning was so touching and deep with emotion. This had a few twists in the story. A very fun to read. I love books like this where people are decisive and go after what they want.
Rating: PG, clean, lots of kisses but nothing heavy or intense.

Brooke St James ability to make me feel the love between her characters ensures I immediately download all of her new releases. This Saturday’s release of Feels Like Home was no exception.

We are first introduced to Evan while he is grieving the loss of his brother, Phillip. Izzy makes her debut in a moment of his weakness and we are immediately shown her character with her ability to love and comfort.

For how much Phillip was mentioned in these first few chapters I really thought that he would be a larger part of the story. Reflecting on it now, I wonder if maybe St James was a bit too harsh on him. He could have still been the antagonist without half of the problems she created for him.

St James’s characters aways move fast, however Izzy and Evan’s relationship was on lightning speed. They went from nothing to married faster than my toddler can decide which cereal he wants for breakfast. Sometimes it works, but this time I feel like she had Izzy give up just too much for her love story.

That said, I still had all the feels while watching Izzy and Evan’s love grow. Their moments together gave me the butterflies I’ve come to expect from St James. I definitely enjoyed the story, just not as much as I normally do.

🤓 Final thoughts: not my favorite of St James’s but still brought all the feels.
🧼 Squeaky Clean: extremely mild language, steamy kisses.

The perfect anti-depressant for my day!

This is one of my favorites in this series, alongside Diamonds are Forever. I love how Izzy was there for Evan at a time when he really needed someone & the way it affected him - and then it became the impetus for the beginning of their romantic relationship

Evan and his friends talking (ignorantly) about how you can tell if hair is dyed blonde cracked me up

I loved that Izzy was up front with Evan, & things didn't get dragged out to make the story more dramatic

And I love the way Brooke St James's stories always leave me feeling so happy after I read them!

*Romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

Feels Like Home is such a sweet, sweet love story!

Loved how dramatic the beginning of this story was. It was so endearing from the very first chapter. Loved the sweet, sweet relationship between Evan and Izzy! They were sooooo incredibly cute together. Love these family book series by Brooke St. James-they are always so good. To be honest her characters get so "high schoolish" when they fall in Love, but the couples are still endearing and make you smile a lot. Nicely done.

Yet another sweet refreshing romance. I loved Evan and Izzy's story. They grew up crushing on each other but circumstances surrounding his brother didn't allow their feelings to even be spoken about. God used Izzy to comfort Evan in his darkest moment and directed their paths to meet again. There is always an innocence to Brooke's characters and interesting plots to keep us turning the pages. I can't wait until Book 6!!

While I usually enjoy this author, this book (and this series) just isn’t giving me the same feel good feelings. This book in particular felt rushed. Two chance encounters and the main female character is giving up everything she’s been working for professionally for the guy she had a crush on in high school? I feel like both characters needed to be flushed out better before I’m satisfied with their inevitable happy ending.

Evan King has been in Nebraska for college and is ready to graduate and return to Galveston to live. He reconnects with Izzy in Corpus Christi while traveling to Mexico, and they keep in touch when he returns to school. Once he’s home, she makes the trip for the weekend, but is in a car accident on the way. After spending time with him, she decides not to return to her TV station job in Corpus Christi. This is an uplifting book about relationships, family and making decisions.

This book was a great read! It had all the emotional connection that I look for in a sweet romance story! I love how this author makes you feel the sweet love between the characters in her book! This book had something special I found though. It showed how when you help someone in need God does bless you and man did he bless Izzy! I'm reading the next book now. Bliss! Ta-ta!

Total fan

So besides that fact that I have read every single Brooke St James book, most two or three times, I am a huge fan of this story. I’m totally from Nebraska and a huge Huskers fan. You will totally enjoy this story and how sweet it is and how awesome the characters are.

Fun read, great continuation of the story and makes me want to reread the rest of the series. I like how faith plays a part, even though small, and how family is so important in these books. Clean romance.

They were destined

This was a sweet story of romance and love, that came only after the loss of a mean brother and kindness.
Izzy made a difference in his life; she changed the course it could’ve taken. And then it’s all about their love and relationship with one another.

I want my future husband to be taller than me. We have our quirks. Izzy had some requirements but soon forgot them. I don't know if I can.

Not my favorite.

While I'm older I don't normally mind reading Brooke's books. They are geared to young adults and are a quick read. This one however just seemed really short and just...not sure how to explain it. Izzy whom I'm guessing to be.around 24 has a great career one she has been pursuing for years. She falls for Evan who.is around 21 and just graduating college. He plans to.work for his dad at the hardware store and help.with the high school football team. They seem to have great chemistry and all but I question the maturity more so than others I have read.
It sounds crazy and I can't put my finger on the total reason why but...it's not.my favorite.
