Nishiki is a typical young alpha--except for the fact that he shifts into a koi fish, of all things, and that he didn't awaken to his ability until he was a grown man. He barely knows anything about shifting or being an alpha, nevermind finding a mystical so-called 'fated mate' that his twin won't stop prattling on about.
When Nishiki decides to accept his inner koi by diving into the deep end, everything goes horribly wrong. He's hooked by a bird of prey right out of the water.
Just when Nishiki thinks he's going to die, he realizes that bird is also a shifter--one who transforms into a gorgeous man who makes Nishiki's heart skip a beat.
An omega osprey shifter who did the snatching.
Weston's life is a double-edged blade. He's a fierce lone wanderer--and according to every alpha he's been with, way too confident for an omega. Without an alpha partner, he's long given up on his greatest desire to have a baby.
To get his mind off his frustration, Weston hones his hunting skills. But when he captures a magnificent golden koi, the identity of the fish startles Weston.
Because he's certain Nishiki is the alpha he's been fated for all this time.
Fated: Koi and the Osprey is a 45,000 word book with plenty of fluffy and steamy scenes, mpreg, low angst, no cliffhangers and a HEA as usual! It is the sixth book in the Pack of Brothers series and best read in order.
Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
Absolutely loved this final book in an incredible series!! The author does such an amazing job using diverse species as shifters and making many interestin0g pairings and this one is no different! Love this pairing between and osprey and a koi! Talk about an enemies to lovers story, what a way to meet! The author did their usual awesome job with this book and the good news is their new series will be about the heirs of this series adults!!! Can't wait for the first book to be released!
Weston is an omega osprey (I had to look this one up. It's a big bird of prey). He's a bit older, in his 30's. Can't seem to find an acceptable mate despite all the dates he's gone on. Nishiki is an alpha Koi shifter (yes, as in the fancy pond fish). He thought for a good portion of his life that he was human. When he suddenly shifted into a fancy fish it was quite a shock. As soon as Weston meets Nishiki he can tell he's not like other alphas (they meet in the most spectacular of ways). The younger Nishiki is vain, unsure, self deprecating. He values Weston's leadership and mentoring. The osprey shifter starts to rethink the qualities he thought were important in a mate and see Nishiki as his perfect match.
What I loved about this one was the irony. Pairing a bird of prey who primarily eats fish with a fish shifter. The one and only quote I liked in the series was from this book as well.
"Have you ever heard the phrase comparison is the thief of joy?" So true.
Wow, I truly did not expect to enjoy this series as much as I did. I really wasn't sure how Oakley was going to make a Koi shifter work but she did a pretty good job and the dynamic between these two were one of my favorites. I loved Weston as even though he's an omega he had a bit of a stronger core to him which was exactly what Nishiki needed. I like that the Alpha and Omega designations don't strictly decide their roles. Sure I love a strong Alpha as much as the next person but sometimes you need a power bottom omega and a sweet Alpha with a praise kink to really make your heart flutter. I will also say that reading those bonus scenes that you get from signing up for the authors newsletter can be pretty vital in terms of answering questions about the babies. My only complaint may be that Nero's and now Nishiki's story started branching into a more mystical world of elemental spirits and I didn't feel like there was quite enough explanation to support it. It does still feel a bit out of left field to me, especially when it effects their kids like Zak being a wolf that can breathe underwater and the other stuff I won't spoil that happens in this book. When I started out this series I wanted something light and quick as I was in a book funk but this world really did end up sucking me in and I finished all 6 books over the course of 3 days. I do know there's a spin-off series featuring the kids but that may take me a minute as it feels a little odd to transition from the parents of the pack (who I love) to their children who I've so far only viewed as adorable.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Nishiki a Koi and Weston an Osprey. I loved the fact that Weston listened to what Nishiki had to say and saw beyond just his looks, unlike most people in his life. I loved how Weston explained everything that Nishiki should know about being and Alpha vs. Omega without being condescending and that it was cool that Nishiki is protective of Weston without being overbaring or thinking that Weston can’t protect himself and love that he’s perfectly okay with Weston being a bird of prey and himself being a koi and doesn’t feel threatened like most other Alphas’ would be. Man, their wee ones Cloud a Harpy and River a Mer were absolutely adorable. I loved getting snippets of the other kids and can’t wait for their books to come in the future. I loved that Weston didn’t laugh when Nishiki was panicking trying to get all the sticks out of his long golden hair and just offered to help him. He realised that Nishiki’s hair is a part of his identity as a Koi shifter. I’m glad that this book brought Nishiki and his fraternal twin Nero closer together since they’re both now found their true mates. When Nero first told him about Remmington being his fated mate he didn’t really believe that it was actually true, he thought that it was a made up thing since it sounded like a fairytale. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
I enjoyed this and except for the constant talk about Nishiki long hair and him being little OCD about it I loved this. It was a perfect ending too the series.
Nishiki finds his fated mate Weston who is an Osprey where Nishiki is a Koi fish. They meet when Weston accidentally thinks he's a regular fish. To apologize Weston helps Nishiki find his way back. Along the way they end up falling in love with each other neither have wanted to have an alpha or omega after all the bad they've been through in the past with men.
I enjoyed it when they got to meet Nishiki's dad. He's the water spirit and he let them know in advanced that they were going to have kids. And what those two babies turned out to be was awesome. I really liked when Weston was building his nest. Like usual an ex or almost ex comes, but Nishiki but the guy who was bald eagle in his place.
Unlike the others Weston has an egg birth which was amazing. Nishiki helped him get through in a special way too. Their boys are definitely special. A harpie and a Mer which isn't what I had predicted but so cool. Was happy got to see Neo and Nishiki parents again.
This was brilliant and the series as a whole has been a beautiful journey. Hawkey did an excellent job on this world and I want to read more. Was thrilled that there was another set twins. Thanks for these books.
Snatch Hearts Nishiki a beautiful golden Koi shifter reminded me in some ways of the youngest Wolf shifter brother Sage in terms of naivitivity. Sage though is happy go lucky and confident. While Nishiki is naive, he's also uncertain about exactly who he is now that he'd learned he's a shifter. And why is he just a Koi 🐠 while his Alpha twin brother is a huge Great White Shark? He's not happy, rather lonely, and hates how his outer beauty is all anyone sees when they look at him.
He is also jealous of the wonderful life his brother has with his so called "fated mate". A concept that Nishiki does not believe in. Weston is an Osprey predator bird shifter. Tough, intelligent, independent, and intolerant of arrogant, abusive dominant, pompous Alphaholes he'd rather be alone. All that changes once he meets Nishiki.
They were the opposites of each other, yet they got along in a few way neither had with another Omega or Alpha. Over a lengthy trek they gained a level of unexpected trust and a relationship developed. This was a sweet story of two men having just what the other needed. If you enjoy mixed species matings and Mpreg this story is for you. And a huge surprise! Expect are FATED books!
What a stunning conclusion to the Pack of Brothers series! I have been waiting for this. It was everything I hoped for. Nishiki, koi shifter, is the last unmated brother. Snatched up by Weston, osprey shifter, Nishiki can't believe it. Their adventure as they journey to HEA includes fated mates, old friends, cute kids, heat sex, nesting, and a family reunion with a water spirit. Ooh, and very special twins. You are gonna love this book! Thankfully, this series continues with the Heirs... all the children we have come to know & love, all grown up. Do yourself a favor. Read the previous books in order. You will be glad you did! This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Yup this is cute and a heartwarmer. Plus if there was ever a lead in to a new series I don't know what is. I hope there are some guys from Cinderhollow making a show. Like in the Indigo Pack series. I vote Nate the snake! 🤭 He needs a cutie. Sorry fan girlling here. I have so far loved all of Hawke Oakley's works. And I love the fact the characters grow, learn to love themselves, and overcome their hardships and insecurities. That and I couldn't stop reading fast enough to write reviews which tells me this serious is well worth reading. I just got to go back and review 😘
Well, Nishiki found his fated mate and in the most dramatic way too. Weston is the perfect compliment to Nishiki - mature and confident to his mates inexperience and self-deprecating nature. The arrival of their children was a wonderful surprise and I'm very excited to see what the future holds for these two unique kids. I'm thoroughly addicted to this series and can't wait to read more. Very good!
This was such a sweet and enchanting book. Nishiki was a koi fish shifter who was in the water one day when Weston, a osprey shifter, swooped down and grabbed Nishiki for food. Such a unique and romantic way for fated mates to meet. :D I enjoyed their story and I just loved everyone in this pack. The ending was so heartwarming and their children were truly amazing.
These books are perfect when you want sweet, low angst story with fated mates and shifters. I'm happy that Nishiki got the perfect mate in Weston and I loved their surprises. The little family pack that they have created is wonderful and I can't wait to see the babies grown up.
I loved this book ,just like the other books Nishiki has a hard time thinking he will get a fated mate but he is caught by his mate Weston in the air while he was swimming but it’s fate they meet Nishiki father and then find out there pregnant with twins ,,there is also another surprise when they are born
The best was definitely saved for last . Nishiki and Weston made the most wonderful couple. Both had to go through the worst relationships to find each other. They brought out the best in each other while giving each other wanted they needed in every way. And loved how different their babies were. I'm definitely going to read the books about them.
Weston is a really different omega. He is strong and self-reliant. Nishiki is an alpha with a difference. He doesn't push. He is shy, and has no confidence. They both need each otherl
Nishiki and Weston's story was a nice change from your typical alpha and omega. It was an enjoyable read and as with all the books in the Pack of Brothers series it was full of feels and acceptance.
Nishiki and Weston’s story is a delightful blend of humor, charm, and unexpected destiny. Nishiki’s awkward journey of discovering his shifter identity as a koi fish adds a unique and playful layer, while Weston’s fierce independence and refusal to be boxed in by traditional omega expectations make him a compelling match. Their meeting is both hilarious and heartwarming-Weston quite literally snatches Nishiki from the water!-and their growing bond is filled with tenderness, vulnerability, and a refreshing sense of acceptance. Their HEA feels like a testament to embracing differences and finding joy in unexpected places.
