Read this a few years ago...not sure why my rating disappeared...

Kind of hard to love an anti-hero but strangely I do. I hope we'll see more of Sasha and Ivar. I think he'll need some redeeming.

Ms Callahan did an awesome job bringing Dragonfury’s villain to his knees. Who knew Ivar had a soft side much less sexy side. I surely didn’t expect it.

Fury of Fate was originally a part of a short story book set called My Bloody Valentine. If you didn’t already know, it is a novella connected to the Dragonfury series. This is Ivar’s short story.

Fury of Fate starts shortly after Fury of Desire had ended. Ivar is grieving the loss of his comrades when he meets a woman who will knock him on his ass; figuratively and literally. A match for this villain indeed, Sasha only plans to use him. Despite his rough and dangerous persona that Ivar projects, she is not fazed by him. She has her mind set to take only what she needs.

Wouldn’t you know it, Ivar gives to her.

Coreene shows us Ivar’s vulnerable time of his life as he grieves his fallen comrades. She also shows us a bit, no, a lot of his sexy side. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t think I would like him but reading about this side of him is certainly an eye opener. There maybe hope for him yet. She did an excellent job pulling me into Ivar’s story and left me wanting for more.

Yes, there is a bit of a cliffhanger. Ivar does not get his HEA…just yet. But I’ll tell you this much, You will look at him with a different light.

Of course this story was in par with the series: well written & HAWT. But...This one was a little hard for me to mentally reconcile. I don't like Ivar & in the rest of the Dragonfury series, I'm not SUPPOSED to. He had every intention of raping Myst in the first book. There were a few times in the other books where it was implied that he raped the High Energy Females he has in cell block A. He routinely has sex with & kills coeds when he feels like it. He enjoys it. I only ever saw him as having A redeemable quality in the way he is mourning Lothair in the 3rd & 4th books & he physically cares for Hamersveld but then again, only because there is something in it for him. So I don't consider him redeemable at all. I don't like him. Still don't like him. He's not a Bad-boy. He's a true villain. I don't care about him at all, unless his happiness makes him lay off my boys, the Nightfury Warriors. Changes his agenda & the war. I don't see that happening cuz of a female but I'm interested to see where it goes with impact to the overall arc. Of course I'm a hopeless romantic & not opposed to the "Love can fix anything" approach but this one...I just don't know. He's a villain, & though well motivated, he's STILL A VILLAIN. It helped that it ended openly & I'm sure we're going to see an outcome in the next book. I think I would have liked it a bit better if I had known nothing about him beforehand, but since I DO know him it was hard read. But I do look forward to the next book & seeing what happens with Ivar & Sasha. Maybe she can fix him. I dunno.

*Gasp!* This is such a tease!

I don’t remember the last time I read a novella as quickly and with as much excitement. Through the first four books of the Dragonfury series (Fury of Fire, Fury of Ice, Fury of Seduction and Fury of Desire), Ivar, the leader of the Razorbacks, has been THE BAD GUY. No doubt about it. He has done some bad, bad stuff. So, I dove into this novella at top speed, eager to see what Coreene had in store for her villain.

Ivar gets his comeuppance in the form of a gorgeous and willing blonde environmental scientist who is passionate about saving the ecosystem, one furry critter at a time. All his posturing about the righteousness of his quest to exterminate the human “disease” that is plaguing the Earth will need to be re-evaluated. Especially since it appears he has met his fated mate! *rubs hands in glee!*

Please, Coreene! This needs to be more than a novella! Where is the rest of Ivar and Sasha’s story? 🥲

I loved this book when it first came out in the anthology My Bloody Valentine, and I had to buy it again when it was released on its own. Coreene writes Ivar so well that I can't help love him even though he's bad. And to have this woman scare the crap out of him, is perfect. I inhaled this story. Yes, it's short, did that bother me, no. It had everything. Characters that were fleshed out and had me fighting for them. I can't wait to see what Coreene does with this storyline of Ivar and Sasha. It's going to be explosive.

A really short read, I understand that this was probably intended to set up Ivar's own mate being found and what he does about it going forward but I didn't really care for it all that much. It started out well enough. Ivar is trying to drown his sorrows in alcohol while also trying to figure out what to do about all these emotions he's been feeling and has no experience with. He goes to his club and we get to see just how much damage the Nightfuries did to it. What surprised me was his honoring the lost Razorbacks as he did...I honestly didn't think he cared that much.

I got urked though when him and Sasha meet. Sasha is pretty much an eco warrior who loves her job but has had absolutely no luck in finding a man. After being blown off for a date, she lets her best friend convince her to go out and have a one night stand. Because, you know, that's totally okay. NOT. But whatever, I know a lot of people do it so, yeah, whatever. But it really annoyed me when she literally attacked Ivar pretty much the second she sees him. Kissing him, dragging him into her home, and immediately pushing for sex. Dude. Really?? Some complete stranger shows up at your door and that's what you do first? Hey, guess what genius, he was actually there to kill you.

As for Ivar, I simply didn't buy it. Here's a guy who attacks and kills women for fun, all of a sudden liking everything about a girl he just met and wanting to be sweet on her because she feels good. Uh huh. Like I said, not buying it. At all. I don't care if the Meridian is mostly to blame for it, guys like that don't change that quick.

It'll probably be interesting when they cross paths again, but I'm not sure how this is going to work going forward. I mean, he's THE BAD GUY. And he's going to get all lovey with a human?

Must Read!

This story almost makes me like Ivar instead of dislike him so much. Very good novella, I enjoyed getting to know his character a little bit better and what makes him the way he is.

The Price Is Wrong....beware of the cliff hanger

The Price Is Wrong....beware of the cliff hanger

I was not expecting a cliff hanger. And maybe it was just me, but I think Ivar's whole personality change. He was like a totally different character from the villain represented in all the previous books in this series. There was also no mention of the title, or release date of the conclusion to this story. I've read this entire series so far and this is the first one to end without finishing the romance. Very short.

I really wasn't interested in reading about evil, horrible Ivar, but while waiting for the next book in the series to come out, I needed a Dragonfury fix.

And wow. Who knew? Ivar was hot and gorgeous and sweet...and brought to his knees by a..gasp..woman! Maybe he'll have to reevaluate his stance on eliminating the entire human race??!!

I hope there's more to come on this story between Sasha and Ivar, though I'd rather read about Venom and/or Forge first--just love those Nightfuries... ;D

So, obviously this isn't finished. I really liked this other side of Ivar. I liked Sasha. LOL. Man she really gave him a run for his money...really freaked him out. She nearly kills him for accidentally tapping into the Meridian! He flees and thats the end of it but I know its not the end. So, a bit disappointing because of that fact but a nice teaser. Still not sure of his motives and everything but we learn a bit about Ivar and he used to be friends with Bastian. Sasha is special that I could tell. Time will tell!

Fury of Fate by Coreene Callahan

A complete turnaround of Ivar in this novella. He is usually the bad guy dragon. He has women in a prison for crips sake to breed future dragons. But this novella shows the softer side of Ivar and you have to ask....can he be redeemed and become one of the good guys?

I wasn't sure how I'd like a story about Ivar.... after all, he's the bad guy! But now, now I'd like to see... I'm not sure what, but I can't wait for Coreene to take us there!

Steamy short story

I'm a recent fan of the Night Fury series, and Ivar is nowhere near my favorite character. I recommend everyone to read this in the proper order in the series, it explains so much. As a stand alone it is incomplete, but the obvious chemistry between Sasha and Ivar overcome a lot of that. I mean it is hot, hot, hot! I was hoping for more insight into Ivar's actions in the previous books, and was mostly disappointed. I'm not ready to get on the Ivar bandwagon, but hopefully the seeds planted in this book grow to show him as more than a petulant 3 year old who wants to always be right and get his way. At the end of the book I was torn on whether or not to be happy that Ivar was still alive. I hope he's worth it, because every woman deserves a good man. It has given me hope that Ivar maybe redeemable.

This is a very short novella that focuses on the bad boy of the series Ivar.

He is in emotional turmoil after the death of his friend and suddenly finds that he actually has some feelings. When a car alarm goes off near his compound, he had enough. He marches over to the house and meets Sasha, who completely bowls him over and totally knocks him off kilter.

Sasha has only recently started renting this house and her car alarm keeps going off. Coming back from a no-show date, she is talking to her friend on the phone when her car alarm goes off again after midnight. Rushing to the door to turn the car alarm off she meets Ivar about to knock.

A moment of braveness on her part ends up in a night that neither of them will ever forget.

This review refers to the combo audiobook Fury of Fate / Fury of Conviction:

These two short stories tell the first meeting of Ivar (Fury of Fate) and Sveld (Fury of Conviction) with their women Sascha and Nathalie. These two men experience—perhaps for the first time in their long lives—what it means to be thrown in at the deep end. Their emotions are on a rollercoaster ride, and their inner beasts challenge the man of reason within them. Imprisonment or freedom for their women? And if they are free... are they really free? - We got a little taste of what's to come in "500 Miles" (Fury of Affliction) and Fury of Aggression #8. Now we can only hope that Dragenfury #9 will be released soon.

One of the best things about this book was getting to 'see' what Ivar looks like. Handsome devil. His role in thee stories may be changing, too. He now has a woman that he truly cares about, whereas before he seemed only to care about his experiments and the destruction of the Dragonfuries. In this brief story he is frantic to save the life of the women his serum is killing at a faster and faster rate. He was especially affected by the ill babies whose death would be his fault.

I hope we don't have to wait more than a year for the next book in this wonderful series.

I’ve loved all the books in the series so far, and all the characters, and most especially Myst which is why I couldn’t enjoy this story, Ivar is a rapist. Though he didn’t get around to actually raping Myst he had every intention of doing it, not to mention the repeated and on going rapes and abuse of the women he’s kidnapped and holding in his breeding program. How can anything like that be brushed aside and forgotten?

Cute, cute, cute!!

Love this story! If you haven't read the Dragonfury series, you must must try them! So much romance as well as thrilling adventure. I love my Prime Unlimited. For ten bucks a month I can read as many books as possible. And that's a lot. (Retirement is the best ;). All six of Coreene 's books are read and listen free. Audible is wonderful.

Good short

Having read the other books in the series this just filled in a gap and explained Ivor's interaction with Sasha. A quick short story full of sex and hot action a good quick interlude.

Awww Ivar found his softer side

This book almost made me like Ivar, but nope he had to be a jerk at the end. Guess he got a taste of his own medicine, too bad the job wasn't finished.

Seeing Ivan this way is a revelation. Nice to see how he hooked up with Sasha, but I would really have loved to have more! Maybe I’m just greedy........

This was just a quick little read, a short story. It showed a different side of Ivar. I hope the author develops this story further in a future book.
