This was a pretty good read!

It starts off with Ash meeting Goh in Vermillion city and interning for the professor there just like in the anime and it pretty much just adapts the anime stories like them going to a city where they meet Scorbunny and the giganti-sizing Snorlax and that was cool and after that Ash going to watch Leon and his battle and then well Pikachu doing the same but his fight with Leon was so cool and so well done, it was a blast to read through!

And then the final story with Goh learning to teach his pokemon a new move and some new revelations and evolution maybe? Its an interesting volume and if you have watched the anime its just adapting that stuff but what it does well is it gets the characters right and even the pokemons are so well drawn and the fights are amazing. The art is a treat to marvel at for sure. A must recommend!

I love Machito Gomi's style! This book adapts the first 6 episodes of the show to the manga format and it delivers! It's a great gift for fans of the franchise as well, I recommend!

I read volume 3 of this series to review for No Flying No Tights, then decided I needed background, so I got copies of the first two. Pretty fun! Even if it is absurdly hard for me to get past the differences in how Pokémon battles work in the manga versus the actual games.

I know it's silly! I know! Especially the way the manga often seems to play down the strategic use of typed moves. If your Gyarados is going up against a Charizard and you aren't using Water-type moves, then I just don't know what to tell you, LANCE.

It’s very funny to see the differences between the anime and the manga. The manga contains way less story/action than the anime, which is very understandable. I did miss the Piplup story :( The drawings were also really cute and I can’t get over the many funny facial expressions! They were by far my favourite thing about the manga

On a journey to get Manga for the kids in our k-8 school, specifically for the younger grades that are asking. This one is absolutely going in our library!

I really like the theme on teamwork and that the Pokémon battles focus on improving skills rather than hurting opponents.

If I were to be picky, the only thing I am not a fan of is the way Chloe (Professor Cerise’s daughter) is drawn. She’s doe-eyed and very cutesy. However, nothing about her illustration is sexual and I’m coming to understand that this illustration style might be used in manga to portray innocence/youth? Something for me to do more looking into.

VERDICT: absolutely going in our library. Off the top of my head, I can think of 15 grade 3/4 students that will want to sign it out.

VOL 2 REVIEW: It will also be going in our library! More of the same, but I did want to make note of two powerful female trainers that appeared in this volume (page 66 & 122). Drawings were appropriate AND challenged gender stereotypes, which was awesome.

VOL 3 REVIEW: This will also be a great addition to our collection. Really like the focus on respect between all living things. I don’t know anything about Pokémon but the students who do will eat this up.

Okay, ganz anders als die bisherigen Manga - ähnelt eher dem Anime. Ash und Pikachu tauchen auf, Team Rocket ebenso. Kenne den Anime zu »Reisen« noch nicht, aber sieht für mich so aus, als wäre das eine 1:1 Umsetzung.

Viele Gags, witzige Grimassen, das typische »Das war mal wieder ein Schuss in den Ofen«, wenn Team Rocket abfliegt.. das kennt man auch so aus dem Anime. Wenig ernste Szenen bisher. Und man kann die Reihe ohne Probleme unabhängig und als erstes vom Franchise lesen, denn ich seh keinen Bezug auf die bisherigen Reihen/Arcs.

Optisch mag ich's und auch die Charaktere und Pokémon sind sehr gut eingearbeitet in die Story. Es ist allerdings eher episodisch, mit einigen Zeitsprüngen.

Bisher hab ich aber meinen Spaß dran 😄

This was rly cute to me honestly. I already love Scorbunny as a pokemon anyway, so when I saw this featured him, I had to get it and check it out. Just seeing Scorbunny's determination to try and learn a fire type move was kinda inspiring in a way. One of those practice until you get better moments imo. But I did find this adorable.

I love Pokemon Journeys. They took so much good from the anime and the games and threw it into one spot.

I will say, if you can, watch the anime. There's more in it, I find it more entertaining than the manga, but this is a piece of media that I think any Pokemon fan can enjoy in whatever way it's consumed.

I'm not sure I'll continue the manga, but I do love this series a LOT.

Compared to the original Pokémon Adventures manga, Journeys felt like watching the anime in fast forwards.
Since I've watched the anime I knew the general context, but for someone who starts off with the manga it's hard to get the hang of the story. It seems like a set of 6 chapters unrelated as a whole. Too bad, as the potential was great.
I will continue with the series to see how it unfolds.

This is going to sound really weird but I feel like that first few chapters don't flow, while they did flow a little, it was very abrupt from chapter to chapter, almost like they were vignettes of the story. This did change in the later chapters though. I do feel like the manga is missing something, so I won't continue the series. I thought Scorbunny was super cute though!

JACK’S FIRST MANGA. My son and I read this together in one sweep, and he loved it, inventing his own Pokémon as we went, and of course loving and wondering about dynamax energy. As a Manga it’s pretty light and loose, but as other Pokémon manga go it’s much clearer and easier to follow.
