When his mother dies, he has to connect to someone.

He can’t handle being totally alone. But Link Webster hasn’t seen his father since he was fifteen. He didn’t care before, but now Link wants to find the man who abandoned him. Unfortunately, his father’s old clan hasn’t seen the old man, and they’re anything but welcoming. In fact, the only dragon who seems to have any time for him isn’t even a member of the clan. Kiera is a visiting dragon, a sweet submissive who was nearly broken by her former clan. Link longs to protect her and to love her the way she deserves to be loved.

He has no clan or family to offer her, though.

Kiera is visiting her friend Charlie in hopes of finding the strength and happiness that Charlie found away from their old clan. She’s not strong and sassy, like Charlie, though. She doesn’t know how to look people in the eye or say what she wants. She’s also not worth a good man’s love. She did too many awful things to survive in their old clan. Link makes her hope, though. He thinks her opinions matter, that she has a future. She doesn’t understand why everybody else, even Link, thinks he’s a monster.

She’s seen monsters, and Link isn’t one.
But can she be strong enough to help Link and the others see what she sees?

Keepers of the Lake: Link is the latest steamy romance by Emilia Hartley, author of Tooth & Claw and Rogue Dragons series. Like all Emilia’s books, it has a strong female lead, a hot shifter male, and a satisfying HEA.

Link also isn't mentioned in the previous books. He's an outsider and is looking for answers to where his father disappeared to. But he doesn't expect or anticipate what he finds instead.

He believes he's a monster and doesn't want to live up to the beliefs that everyone already has about him. He just wants to settle down and find a family to protect.

Link searches for his father in hopes to find him. He was abandoned by and wants to find his only family left. He knows that his father was a powerful dragon that made them alike as he shares the same facial features as him. Kiera visits her friend in Michigan as she is finally free from the clutches of her old clan leader. She is not used to interact with anyone and she is afraid that she will be hurt if she does anything. As more dragons emerge, she is overwhelmed by their friendliness and she is afraid of speaking anything for fear of breaking a rule that would put her in trouble. As a car approaches the cabins, Kiera recognizes that it was the same person which she saw earlier at the restaurant. However, the man is suddenly attacked by a dragon shifter and they were not happy Kiera experienced abuse by her old clan members and she became submissive as they broke her spirit. She did not expect to see him again which her friend is not happy about since they seemed to hate him for what he did not do. The clan members see him as a monster like his own father but she is not convinced that he is one. Instead of being afraid of the male, she feels so safe whenever he is around her. Link does not know why his dragon was enthralled by this woman and feels like his body is on her when she touched him. Later on, they sneaked out to escape the tension from the clan and she was glad that she got to spend time with him. Kiera is a damaged person due to her dark past and she continues to think that she does not deserve happiness. He tells her that her old clan cannot hurt her anymore and promises to protect her. Some of the clan members hates his entire existence and they have a deep mistrust for they think he is the same person as his father was. The story has a good plot and I like the characters personality. Kiera is a dragon shifter but she is timid, shy, submissive, and beautiful woman. Link is a considerate, kind, gentle, and handsome man who treats Kiera patiently. They have a great chemistry and they are so in tuned with each other needs. Two lost souls longing to find a home, a clan that protects one of their own, and a beast who would not leave them alone. I enjoyed reading the book as the story unfolds and the characters relationship progresses. Kiera and Link finally have a HEA ending where they finally belong together as mates and has their own home.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is the fifth book in the series and it has taken a direction I didn’t expect. This is about the romance between two newcomers, Link and Keira and yes, whilst there was angst, it wasn’t really about each other. Their angst was about their past for both of them.

As clan ‘outsiders’ it was probably a given that they would veer toward each other. They don’t know or understand the issues that the clan members have had and are facing, so they are very much like the blind leading the blind but there is no denying how much they are drawn to each other.

Keira is visiting Charlie and they know each other from when they were in the clan in Washington run by Norman. Whilst Keira’s story doesn’t go into in-depth detail, this book might be a trigger for some readers who have survived domestic abuse and because of that background, Keira is very timid and shy who rarely, if ever, sticks up for herself. Which is why Charlie has taken her under her wing and because of the relationship between her and Charlie, the clan has ‘adopted’ her and consider her to be one of the clan. Link for his part, also comes from a somewhat difficult childhood with a father who wasn’t the best. He disappeared out of Link’s life when he was a teenager and now that his mother has died, he has decided it’s time to hit the road in an attempt to try and track down his father. Which is how Link and Keira first meet… in the town diner by the lake.

I really enjoyed this book and love how two bruised and emotionally battered dragons can find love and security with each other where they each bring out the better half of each other. As in the previous books, the clan are still trying to find a way to rescue Zane from his watery prison and Zane is still being an angry, monstrous bully… but the next book is about Zane so hopefully, the clan will find Sybil and find a way to put Zane out of his misery. But who knows?

My Review

All Kiera wants is to be loved for herself, she also wants to be brave and fearless! But after spending so much time being beaten down by her old clan, she doesn’t see how that’s possible! Coming to see her friend Charlie seemed like a good idea at the time, but she’s so submissive that Kiera doesn’t see how she’s going to fit into this new life.....

Link needs a connection, after losing his mother, he needs something...
Looking for his father in the last place he was seen, Link comes across a clan of angry dragons!! How was he to know his father tried to kill them and enslave one of their own?!
He should just go....

Link and Kiera have so many issues, but are both drawn towards one another, but if the clan don’t want Link around how can he be with Kiera? There is no way he’d take her away from her family!
Kiera needs to grow a backbone! But after so many years of being nothing more than property it’s hard!
But watching the females around the males, Kiera wants what they have, and maybe she can have it with Link?

The monster trapped in the lake (also known as their friend and clan mate Zane, is getting more and more agitated! His mood swings are becoming more violent!) The clan need to release him, and a mate seems like the most obvious choice. But with each new female brought into the clan and one of the other males claiming her, it doesn’t seem likely! And they are worried it’s going to get to the stage where they won’t ever be able to help their friend! They may have to kill him!

The interwoven story in this series is great. The characters that keep being added are a welcome addition.
And as this is the penultimate book in the series, you do have to wonder if a mate for Zane or a huge battle to kill him will end such a really good series.

So let’s get to Zane’s book soon.....

LINK is the fifth installment in this six book in the Keepers of the Lake series, by Emilia Hartley. This author brings just keeps bringing us characters that are headstrong, compassionate, funny, sad and determined.

Link wants to find his father and get to know him, maybe get help with his dominant and controlling beast.  Deciding to visit the one place his father ever mentioned during his visits, his arrival didn't go as expected. Before he can even say hello, he is attacked by one of the resident dragons -- disgust, even hate, on the faces of the others.

An old friend Charlie's is visiting, but Kiera is having problems adjusting to the freedoms of this clan. Abused her entire life by her clan members and Alpha, she has has become a small, meek and submissive dragon, scared of everybody - she only knows how to function with Rules to follow.  That is until she meets the big and dominant Link.

The main characters were great together and I loved how they support each other and grew into a family. The great twist, how the monster in the lake brings them all together.

Only one more story to go - Zane's retribution or his salvation. Like all Emilia’s books, it has a strong female lead, a hot shifter male, and a satisfying HEA

This book is about Alistair's son Link who has to town looking for his father and Charlie's friend Kiera who has been freed from her Alpha's abuse by Jasper's intervention. Link is immediately disliked and distrusted by most of the group due to his resemblance to his father. He has no knowledge of Alistair's misdeeds but that doesn't seem to matter. The only people who seem to want him to stick around are his half-sister Buffy (who he didn't even know existed) and the other newcomer, Kiera.

Kiera is not sure what it is about Link that fascinates her but he is the first man that she has actually felt an attraction to. She doesn't know how to act around the other dragons in the clan. She had always avoided unknown males and done her best to be invisible. Submission had been drilled into her and old habits are hard to break. For some reason, she feels comfortable around Link and wishes the others saw him as she did. Asher is the only male that gives him a chance and that seems to be because they like to beat the crap out of each other. Things only get worse when Zane mistakes Link for Alistair and goes on the warpath.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Keira and her friend Charlie are from the same clan. But Charlie left and found a new clan she is happy in. When Keira finally goes to visit Charlie she is so broken down by her own clan, she is hopeful she can find the same happiness that Carlie found here in her new clan. But Keira has lost a part of herself, she is unable to look others in the eye, speak up for herself and her needs. If she cannot perform these simple tasks, how will she find anything? Link's mother has passed. Not wanting to be alone, he decides to go find his father. The same man that left when Link was only fifteen. But when he arrives at his father's clan, he finds his father was not very well liked. His father is not there and no one seems to know where he is. They're also not greeting Link with open arms. But there is one there that Link finds himself drawn to, Keira. She is not a member of this clan and he can see how submissive she is. His feelings of protection and caring for her are strong. But at the moment he has nothing to offer her and it seems the longer he stays with this clan, the more mistakes he makes. Wonder what the future holds for Link and Keira. He is without a clan and she is running from an abusive one. Do either one of them even have a apt at a happy future? Will they even be together? The answers are right at your fingertips. This is a remarkable series. All you have to do is read it and... abracadabra your answers appear.

Kiera has come to the lake hoping to find happiness with the growing dragon clan there. Link has come searching for his father. Neither has a home, or peace, but finding each other, and the Keepers of the Lake, might be just what they’ve both been looking for after all…

Link is a great entry in Hartley’s Keepers of the Lake series! We’re getting to the end of the series now, so there are a lot of dragons living at the lake, but there’s no problem focusing on Kiera and Link in this story. They’re both great characters, both hurting and vulnerable—complete outsiders looking for home and wanting so much to belong. And when they find each other you can almost hear the click… They’re great together, bringing out the best in each other and supporting each other in all the best ways. Their romance is a wonderful, heartfelt read. In Link the reader gets to see all the established characters, and there’s drama and of course the overarching series questions rise to the top now and again, but there is nothing but pure enjoyment in this story. I do think that this is one book that will definitely be most enjoyed by series readers.

This is a series best understood if you read these books in order. Even though they are technically stand-alone, Link specifically deals quite a bit with past information and experiences, readers will find themselves at a vast disadvantage jumping in now.

As much as I am eagerly awaiting Zane's book I'm glad we got Link's. Link is the son of Allister and he looks just like his father. When he goes to the lake everyone jumps on him right away because of it. Zane has to find a way to prove to them that he may look like him, but he's no his father.

Kiera's story was heart-wrenching. We got a bit of a feel for what her life must have been like when we met Charlie, however, Charlie escaped the worst of it. I wanted to envelop Kiera in a hug and allow her to let it out and was so happy she founding who was so gentle with her. Even not knowing her story he instinctively seemed to know just what she needed.

I can't wait for the next book. The build-up for this battle has been fierce and I hope we get our final resolution.

Link is searching for his father who stopped visiting 10 years ago so he's tracked him to the last known place of residence a lakeside property with various cabins. Kiera is not sure what she is doing in the midst of this newly minted clan of strong, boisterous dragons after she is freed from the control of her past clan leader. When Link and Kiera meet a strong bond snaps into place, one that neither of them know what to do with. Link finds that he wants to stay with this clan and prove he is not what he father tried to mold him into and Kiera finds that she wants to stay by his side. This is a story of two people who have had a bleak past and are not sure what they need or want from the future until they find each other. The rest of the lakeside clan are in their faces with all the chaos and drama they thrive on. A quirky, volatile, and caring cast of characters moves through the danger or the lake and the insecurities of their two newest members. Link hasn't seen his father in years and now that his mother has died he has decided to look for him. His search leads him to a clan he heard his father was a leader to. When he arrives his welcome turns badly. Keira is from a clan in Washington where she was treated badly and now she is trying to figure out what she is going to do now that she has the freedom to decide for herself. When she first saw Link in the diner in town she was drawn to him. As the other look like they are ready to attack him she wants to step in and protect him. Link doesn't understand why everyone is acting like they are until they tell him what his father has done. Will he get a chance to show them he isn't like his father? Will he claim Keira as his mate?

This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Who is Kiera? Where is she from? How does she end up at the lake? What happened with her Clan? Who is Charlie? Who is Link? Who is his family? Why has he come to the lake area? Oh my.... I did NOT expect what happened when Link showed up at the cabins! Things went from 0 to 200 very quickly! What happens when Kiera goes on an adventure with Link? What does Cole do? When Link tries to get lost in the woods, where does he find himself? What happens when Zara takes Kiera to her home? I had to laugh at Asher and the pizza deal! What happens when the lake goes after Kiera? What does everyone think happened? Oh goodness, I cannotw ait to see what happens next! This was a very tense read for me! Enjoy!

¡Broken pieces!

After going through rough experiences, Link and Kiera wanted peace. He was searching for truth, and she wanted a new opportunity of being herself without prejudice. Opportunities arose and they were better together, not without confronting their fears. Just look how they could get it if they faced unwanted past emotions.

Emilia Hartley introduced this fifth episode of her dragons’ shifters series with two unexpected players, who should gather their broken past life pieces. They must face their fears to be together against odds when inner strength rose at the end. This installment mixed secrecy, hidden desires, fears, misunderstandings, and prejudices that only inner willpower would overcome to unite what was broken. ¡Another must-read book that pulls you in and never lets you go!

Link, a dragonshifter, has come to the lake to look for his father Alistair who has disappeared. The clan are not very welcoming and boarder on hatred because Link looks to much like his father who has done much damage to many people. Kiera, is a dragonshifter, who has been abused by her previous clan. She is visiting Charlie, who was in the same previous clan. This is a heart wrenching story because of the abuse that Kiera has endured and of course the impact that this has had on her. She feels so unworthy to have happiness and needs to find herself apologizing when it isn't needed. Link didn't know what his father has done and bears the brunt of his father's actions. Link and Kiera are two people who compliment and have different strengths for each other. This is book #5 of the "Keepers of the Lake" series. There is one book left to conclude this series which has been a fabulous to read. Enjoy!

Link was suffering for his father's sins when he just wanted a family of his own. He was his own man but the traits he had inherited from his father were strong and made him doubt. Would he always consider himself a monster rejected by everyone? Kiera was ashamed and feeling unworthy by her past, but the dragon hated by all, attracted her, made her feel different, and she trusted him. I liked Link's character and how, despite his conflicting thoughts and feelings, he knew what he really needed and was trying to do his best to get it. There’s a saying that says, ‘For a sample a button is enough’ and Link knew how to prove that he was not like his father. Interesting and entertaining story with action, suspense, drama, violence, a lake monster always kicking and screaming, romance and passion. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I enjoyed and received free from Booksprout.

This book was good too! Link is just a guy who doesn’t want to be seen as the monster that raised him. He had a tough exterior but a soft spot for another quiet shifter.

Kiera is learning how to fit back into the real world. After being stuck in a clan that had the women quiet and only speaking when spoken to, she is out on her own to visit her friend.

These two are an oddly perfect match together. One used to not being seen, and the other wishing he wasn’t being seen as his father. They both immediately care for each other and worry about hurting each other because they don’t know how to properly communicate with each other.

Having Link prove himself to be nothing like his father is not an easy task. But this author did an amazing job! I especially like that Link and Asher became quick friends that understand the need to throw punches.

Yet another wonderful story in this great series! This time it is about Kiera who has come from the same clan as Charlie. Dealing with the past abuse from their old leader. Then Link appears, wanting to know about his father - Alistair! He is met with understandable hostility but with his growing connection to Kiera, life changes for them both. The unit was starting to accept him and the pair come together. Of course Zane causes chaos still, but also knows Link has his fathers strength, though not his character. It takes time for the group to come round though Zara and Asher are already accepting and supportive. You can almost feel the tension building for the final to come. I just hope Zane is prepared for some serious grovelling for all the trauma he has created.

This story is so intense. Link and Kiera both have their demons. Keira has escaped from another clan where she was abused by the leader and has no feeling of self worth. Link comes to the clan after his mother dies and is looking for his father Alistair.
Their attraction is instant but Link is not welcomed by the clan instantly due to his likeness of his father and do is made to feel he is bad too. Keira finds it hard to settle and to accept that she does not have to be submissive.
This story tells their journey of finding they belong and getting to know each other and explore their feelings.
This series gets better and better and can’t wait to read more.

I have loved every book in this series. Each of the characters introduced were so deserving of a HEA. Getting there was not easy, but the author did make it exciting and worth it. Now, Link, I wasn't so sure of. I had this need to blame him without ever meeting him. That was not okay. I am so happy that I gave him, and this story, a chance. Two souls who just wanted to belong and be loved. They each wanted a family. Kiera had it tough, it was heartbreaking really. Link was just lost. They will help each other heal, but they will need the help of the Clan. Pretty sure that the next book is the last, I can't wait to see how it all wraps up.

This is such a terrific series and this book was another wonderful entry in it. This book really clicked with me. That was probably because I felt that I could really relate to the characters. Link and Kiera were so easy to root for. They each had really heavy baggage and everything was just such a challenge for them. I loved them together. I thought their connection was powerful and their chemistry intense. Deep emotion, drama, tension, suspense and romance make a potent cocktail, that once you get a taste will have you eager to blow off everything else to just keep reading. I'm posting an unsolicited, unbiased review.

When Link shows up looking exactly like his father, the clan immediately despises him thinking he will be just like Alister. Keira is a new guest at the cabins and came because Charlie was there. Keira is quite submissive because she was treated horribly by her abusive alpha and the males in her clan. It is very sad to see how her spirit was destroyed which makes some of her changes throughout the book all that more rewarding.

Link and Keira have to work together to overcome their pasts and find their HEA in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed how they were able to find their way into the clan and how their relationship came together. As Keira said, "It feels right. Now we'll have to wait to find out what has happened to Zane and home their family will be complete.

Link was at the lake looking for information about his father, but instead found out he had s sister. Kiera was visiting her ex clan mate that she helped to get away so she didn't have the same fate befall her. Link and Kiera had an instant attraction even though everyone warned her away from Link. Looking exactly like his father everyone was leary of Link thinking he was just like his father. The only thing he found was his mate and a clan to accept him. He fought the monster in the lake but was told to leave him alone since he was a friend.

Good improved from book four

This is book five and it was improved from book four. An interesting storyline finds Allistair’s son Link in search of his father. Link arrives at the lake only to be mistaken for his father. Definitely not the best way to meet new Dragons. Especially since Allistair betrayed the clan. Luckily for Link he has Buffy who is super duper excited to have a brother. Charlie’s BFF Kiera visiting who thinks Link is the fierce and strong dragon for her. The story had the entire clan involved which was great. Plus Asher and Zara are take charge in this one and support both Link and Kiera. Read On!

I am sooo enjoying this series ... The characters, the excitement, danger and the unpredictable twists keep me turning the pages and with the thrilling cliffhanger this reader can’t wait for the next instalment. Link and Kiera definitely have more to face than the dangers of the lake. How can Link show this clan he is not the monster his father was, he is different? Can they possibly overcome their fears, doubts and hate, to dream of a future? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another great story in this wonderful series. Kiera has had a traumatic life in her previous clan. When she meets Link, she doesn’t understand why she feels safe around him. Link’s arrival at the cabins causes quite a commotion. Will Kiera and Link ever feel a part of this clan? Link’s altercations with Zane get quite exciting. I was on the edge of my seat at times. The twist at the end of the book was certainly unexpected. I love these characters and am really looking forward to the next book.

What a read! This series has me so hooked I can't get enough and I love the excitement, action and the connections all these characters have, the friendships that have grown. Link was an amazing surprise and I really liked him. My heart broke as we learned more about Kiera and the life she was able to get away from. The story has smiles, laughs, heat, (in more ways than one) intensity, emotion and fun. Another must read book in this much loved series.

Link has ended up at the lake as he's looking for answers about his father, Kiera is there because Charlie invited her. Kiera is a withdrawn small Dragon, she has had to be reticent because of her former life.
Zane is still causing problems and as Link looks so much like Alistair he's really incensed. The clan have problems accepting Link because of his looks too.
Another great read in the series from Emilia.

This poor guy had no choice in his father, but he found a sister. His father is the dreaded Alistair and the others in the clan do not like that information at all. He tries to help thinking they would like him if he helped with the creature in the lake. Link does his best and tries to keep his mate safe from Zane in the lake. I loved it and I look forward to the next book because the clan keeps growing in each book.

Out of nowhere comes a new shifter that is an exact image of Alistair. His dragon is large, fierce and yet protective. Naturally those that knew his father as skeptical. Kiera has survived unspeakable torture at the hands of Norman but retains the ability to still find love. So wonderful watching her find her own feet, take back to power to live her life and let her dragon free. Together they teach the clan that there is more to them than meets the eye!!
