Flea had always been called a bit wild. Rebellious even. She did her best to make a nuisance of herself. Growing up in the underbelly of a derelict city where she rarely saw the light, giving in to her omega nature would get her killed. Being caught and taken to the Center didn’t stop her. There were new laws in place that she used to her advantage. And when the opportunity presented itself… She escaped. She’s on the run but she’s back in her element. She knows they’ll be coming for her again, but she’ll do anything not to be Captured.
Wife and mother of four, my days have been reduced to begging for the littlest to sleep so I can have time to write my books. I'm blaming my reduced schedule on Cupcake. I grew up on Sci-fi and Fantasy books with some of my favorite authors being Anne McCaffery and Mercedes Lackey. In 2013 I discovered paranormal romance and delved into a whole new world. After reading Omegaverse stories from Addison Cain and Nora Ash, I had the idea for The Omega Prize and decided to take a shot at writing a book of my own. The beginning was rough, it took two months to write the first five chapters, but as my 2019 New Year’s resolution I said I was going to finish the story and committed to writing every day. It didn't take long for the book to begin telling itself, and from there I just kept going.
Most of my books are Omegaverse, but they span other genres like Sci-Fi, dystopian, and historical barbarians. There is even a small-town Enemies to Lovers Romance story in there. They main contain dark elements but I wouldn't call them dark romance since my alphas tend to be a little mushy in the center. I promise there's always a HEA.
This is the fourth in the author's [relatively] sweet Omega Market series. While it's a standalone in terms of the couple, the MFC was first introduced in Owned. Here, we get rebel Flea, who runs away from the Collection Center (which processes unmated Omegas), rather than submit to an Alpha. When Alpha Gra'ar is tasked with bringing her back, he assumes that'll be easy, but he doesn't know Flea...
If you enjoy consensual Omegaverse (which I prefer) underpinned by an action-driven plot, you will enjoy this. I certainly did; in fact, given my tastes, it's one of the best Omegaveres I've read in terms of character, plot, and world-building. First, I really appreciated how atypical Flea was for an Omega -- strong, independent, and capable -- and that Gra'ar appreciated that (don't worry, there's still rutting). Second, the perils the MC faced created organic tension and encouraged the couple's bonding (there's nothing quite like sharing danger to bring people closer together). Finally, Ms. Ryans' descriptions of space depicted this dystopian environment in all its "glory:" I could see the post-apocalyptic city (Metropolis-style levels, abandoned buildings, over-grown gardens, desolate landscapes) as I read.
I did have three quibbles that affected my rating. First, if Flea has a backstory, I don't remember it, and the author doesn't provide one here; Gra'ar's circumstances are similarly opaque. In fact, both main characters are somewhat unmoored (though this does create an understanding between them). Second, this begins in medias res and while I appreciated the tension, I don't think Flea's escape needed to be this long. Finally, the prose was riddled with typos. While none were glaring, they were like a thousand paper cuts: "decent" for "descent" particularly irked me given the number of times it occurred, and simply running spellcheck would have caught "warry" and "precent."
4 stars. There's another book coming, which I look forward to. With the exception of the last book, I'm really enjoying this series and highly recommend it.
I love this series. With the setup of the Omega collection centers and auctions there's always something different and new. Be it the planet they're on, species of either alpha or omega, plus the situations and backgrounds of the Omegas. So even though this is a series each book is original and fresh.
I loved Flea. She is this punk, dreadlocked, badass, independant Omega, used to being on her own. Scrapping for survival, living in the deep forgotten underbelly of Decloui in the lower levels, Flea swears she will never be some Alpha's little breeder. Even though she got captured in an Omega sweep raid, she's not going down without a fight. Nobody's taking her choices and freedom.
Gra'ar is a monster/demon like alien mercenary who's brought in to track and retrieve Flea after she escapes the Omega Collection center. He's has wings, horns, and four eyes. With night vision, olfactory like a bloodhound, and wings to fly between levels on Decloui he is uniquely suited to find Flea quickly and bring her back. Gra'ar learns real fast not to underestimate Flea and even somewhat begrudgingly to respect his smart and tenacious little foe.
I loved Flea. I always love independant little fighters. But I also loved Gra'ar. He was alpha enough that he didn't have to crush Flea under his thumb. He saw her warrior spirit and supported her instead of trying to break her. I enjoyed watching both of these strong tough fighters allow themselves to be vulnerable with each other and actually place their hard earned trust in each other. I also loved the dark and dystopian feel, with the roving gangs being the law in the seedy underbelly that never saw the light of the Sun anymore, and everyone fought just to survive. Great installment in the series, can't wait for the next one!!
Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love a feisty omega, especially when paired with an alpha who enjoys and respects them for it. Captured has Flea, an omega who doesn't want to be paired randomly with an alpha, and Gra'ar who's an alpha assigned to capture her and bring her back to the omega center after she escapes. Flea is resourceful, determined, and wary. Gra'ar was a big, strong and capable alien who was still able to have some softness to him for Flea. They start off in an adversarial chase/capture, but it's not just Gra'ar that Flea has to contend with since her world is gritty and dangerous with few resources and roving gangs. Slowly these two grow to respect and trust each other and they just fit so well together. There's steaminess later in the story complete with heat, knotting, and nesting. I would have liked an epilogue with a peek into their future, but I'm also happy with where the characters are left and the possibilities before them.
No ow/om drama and vague mentions that both characters had sexual histories, but nothing recent.
“She’s a pain in the ass and I’m sick of the problems she’s caused me. You’re going to bring her back, before she gives the others ideas.”
Uhhh, baby! Flea “Fledorina Fara” is just larger than life isn’t she! I love this heroine so much! Despite her dynamic being an omega and her being born to a broken world where omegas are treated like prises to own by the highest bidder, instead of love and respect, Flea doesn’t settle by the rules and is a badass!
She defies every rule, every time someone tries to make her bend, one way or the other this gir rebels. And she’s such a master at escaping and keeping herself alive in a world so broken and dangerous!
“An omega’s scent always came across as sweet to an alpha, it was nature’s way of drawing them in, but Flea’s was more. There was a spice to it, a bite that had him sucking in a deep breath once he’d entered the room.”
So we first met Flea at the previous book Owned, where she had been captured by the riders and sent to the Collection Center to be put on the market. But, the little minx had avoided being matched and was working hard on a way to get out of there and back to her freedom.
This book starts, exactly when Flea is able to escape the centre and the Director calls on a special soldier to hunt down Flea. Gra’ar is good at what he does. Actually he’s the best there is. His missions are normally to hunt down Alphas, criminals, and such to bring them to command. This time, tho, his mission is so much more difficult. He has to hunt down the little omega that evaded the centre.
“The oddity of humans caught his attention for a moment. They lacked wings like many species, but there was so much more they were missing. No tail for balance, fur for warmth, claws or horns for defense. Crappy vision that was worse in the dark, and even their hearing wasn’t close to what would be considered good. Their entire body was soft and vulnerable, even their skulls being inadequate in many situations. Scientists had pondered for years how they’d become the superior species on their planet.”
This book is jam packed with action and tension and the main characters are amazing. First we have a strong, badass heroine that makes everyone’s blood boil (and not in a good way). And second we have a monster/alien hero (that has wings!!) that is strong, lethal and has a great heart. He respects Flea and her choices and is proud of her achievements and of how strong she is.
This pairing is perfect!
“It may seem crazy, but there was a connection between them, a mutual respect that had turned to something more, and if she couldn’t be happy with him she’d never be happy with any alpha.”
The only thing I wish for, is for a small novella where we see Flea and Gra’ar already as a couple and working to solve a case! That would be super intersecting to read.
I really enjoyed this novel in the Omega Market series. The hero had delicious demon/monster vibes, and I always love a hero with wings! He was deliciously dominant and protective toward the heroine, and I loved the fact that he enjoyed the heroine’s spirit and respected her strength. The heroine was willful, brave, and stubborn as a mule, in addition to being brilliant and very competent. I loved her character! I want to convince her to be my best friend! The world building was vibrant, with the eerie, grim environment and culture of the underlevels coming to life. The plot was full of action and danger, which kept the stakes high and me turning the pages rapidly. I personally feel that this novel was one of the best that I have read in this series so far. I will definitely buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I was so happy to see that Flea got her own story! She was an interesting character in one of the previous books and she held my attention and made me wonder how her story would go. And it didn't disappoint. Gra'ar was a great Alpha for her. Super strong but also able to see Flea's side of the story. He realized how much Flea just wanted her own choice and her freedom. Of course he also wants her to be safe. And the things Flea gets herself into are pretty epic. I like how you get to see how the lower levels look and are set up. I would say this is a bit of a slow burn, but enough action happens it kinda makes up for it!
This is the fourth Omega Market book and it can still be easily read as a standalone. It is well written with a fantastic intensity. I loved Flea and her strong, confident and willful personality. Very dynamic read.
I was so happy to see Flea getting her own story! And her Alpha is... a monster. lol LOVE. It was exciting, and I loved the unique Omega/Alpha relationship these two had going. Pretty slow burn for this series, but it worked. Recommend it, even if you haven't read the others.
I really like this book because the plot was unlike any of the others that I read thus far. Their story was rich with two strong characters. How they melded as they discovered the other was what they were looking for was heartwarming. I am enjoying this series.
Overall good world building and great main characters but I wish I had more backstory to go along with it. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'd say overall I did like this one. Flea was an interesting FMC especially for an omega. She never had any quit in her. It just wasn't part of her genetic makeup. Gra'ar was a solid hero to root for. I liked him for Flea. He was obviously much more progressive and modern thinking alpha with her and accepted her for herself rather than expecting her to act as other omegas do.
My only problem was I felt much of the book was rather tedious to read. The buildup to their first meeting was expected but, I don't know, something felt off to me. Too wordy at times and others just lost my interest. Specifically because there is alot of action scenes with fighting and running/chasing another. And usually I love a good action scene but truthfully most of the book was nothing but those and so I found myself skimming quite a bit.
I also found Flea going into her first heat disappointing. The fact it ended up being a short one made sense but overall it felt too brief and didn't allow for more to build between the two MCs.
Lastly, the ending felt rushed. They were traveling from the eighth level and then next chapter they're at the collection center talking to the director. Hm, well I wasn't totally mad at not having to read them traversing the levels again but it felt a little abrupt. Especially because the ending left me unsatisfied. They both seemed sad about going their separate ways, especially Gra'ar because he was concerned for her safety but then they both decide to do the mate thing once Flea admitted she wanted to go with him. Eh, no love admissions...that's fine. But I didn't feel any deeper emotions from them other than surface level caring. Perhaps more from Gra'ars side because his POV gave more insight. With Flea it simply felt like she liked him well enough and clearly he wasn't smothering her independence or badassery so why not be with him? *shrug*
No epilogue, no actual scene where he gave her a real mating bite. Nada. So, yeah I was disappointed.
It was well written and interesting enough but the pacing dragged at times and I'd have chosen different scenes to focus on, and perhaps less of some and more of others. 🤷♀️
4.5 stars. Flea, the female human lead, has lived on her own for years, making her way in the slum depths. She doesn’t require an alpha to mind her and she escapes back to her home. Gra’ar, the alien male lead, is sent to catch and contain her and return her for mating. He thinks this will be a quick and easy task. She proves it not to be.
As he retrieves her, her heat comes in and he protects her, gaining respect for her independence and survival skills. She, meanwhile, comes to respect his strength and confidence that allows him to give her actual choices.
This story is dual POV, well written, and a great standalone in the world the author has previously written in. I deeply enjoyed Flea’s genuine independence that was not brattiness but a determination to be her own person and make her own choices. Gra’ar’s willingness to negotiate and enjoyment of someone happy to push back against him was also wonderful.

We met “Flea” in previous books in this series. She has done everything to let them know, at the collection center, that she is NOT down with being sold to an Alpha. And will do everything in her power to make sure that doesn’t happen. She has been matched with 5 alphas, but is returned for being too troublesome each time. She escaped her last alpha. The Director has brought in someone whose unique talents are perfect to track her down and bring her back. Gra’ar is military through and through, not to mention a very strong alpha in his own right. After reading her profile, he is not only intrigued, he is looking forward to this challenge.
I did enjoy this book, and for the most part I liked Flea’s desire for independence. It’s just that this is really a tough (big understatement!) environment to be a woman alone, but add being an omega on top of that? I kinda thought she was pretty foolish to go out on her own. I mean, I get that she wants her freedom, but what kind of freedom is that where you have absolutely NO resources? Even scavenging for food and water is dangerous and every one you encounter may be using you. Perhaps it’s just not the way I would choose to live. I mean, objectively speaking, that’s not living. It’s barely existing. However, her personality does fit well with Gra’ar. While he is not looking for an omega of his own, by the time her first heat arrives, he’s pretty much in love with her.
World building in this particular book isn’t all that great, but if you have read the previous books, you’ll be fine. The plot was good, also as long as you’ve read the other books. If you’re reading this as a standalone, I think you’ll be disappointed. If you’re a hardcore fan of the Omegaverse genre, you’ll also be disappointed in this book (the entire series actually) because it’s very light on omegaverse tropes. If you’re new to this genre and want a taste to see if this is a genre you’d like to pursue, this is a good place to start.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this fascinating well-written omegaverse romance & it definitely kept my attention until the last page & best of all it can easily be read as a standalone. It is set in a futuristic world where the omegas have no choices & all decisions are made by the government and/or alphas. The plot is well-developed & is quite suspenseful with a lot of intrigue and has good world building with excellent scene descriptions. The characters are absolutely unique & one of them is a very feisty strong-willed, defiant female omega (Fledorina aka Flea who made a brief appearance in “Owned #3” where she promptly escaped from the collection centre that processes unmated omega females & goes on the run) while the other character is a winged alien male hunter (Gra’ar) who was sent by the director (Devereux) to retrieve her and after a exhausting chase finally captures her but things don’t go exactly according to his plans when she goes into heat. There is: twists & turns, adventure, action, drama, intrigue, suspense, determination, defiance, exasperation, protectiveness, heat issues, compromises, surprises, some steamy scenes & a well-deserved, satisfying conclusion. I look forward to future books from this author and would recommend this book (& the series) to people who enjoy reading this genre.
I really enjoyed Captured. This is book number 4 in the Omega Market series, and each book in the series has given me something new. This is a sci-fi series.
Flea and Gra'ar are fantastically written. I loved Gra'ar and his no-nonsense ways, and even though he's on a job, ruff around the edges and definitely a bit of an Alphahole, he fit very well with Flea.
I did like Flea, but I must admit that her obsession with escaping did wear on me. I've never been too huge a fan of these things. I like a strong heroine, but it is strong and then there's just plain stubborn who ends up almost getting herself killed time and time again - because of the stubbornness, and that's what I tend to not like.
Flea was a bit like that, a bit too much of it for me to love her. I did however like her, and I liked her survival skills and that she has had to adapt.
The setting of the book and the planet, the city's levels and how people lived were very interesting and I felt like I was there. So the book is well-written and engaging. The combat was also good and action-packed. :)
All in all, I gave this book 4 stars and would definitely recommend this book series if you like Omegaverse.

Another wonderful story by Leann Ryans from the Omega Market series. In this story we meat Flea. Rebellious, sassy, determined, strong and very world-wise. She has escaped from the Collection Center and the Director has hired Gra'ar to go find her and bring her back. Gra'ar is convinced that finding Flea and returning will be a piece of cake. But he reckoned without Flea's determination and a very strong-willed young woman who is determined to not become any alpha's slave omega. Over the ensuing period of time Gra'ar comes to respect Flea, but will he return her and will Flea willingly go back? The story is well written and the story line is awesome. Leann has one of the most creative minds and I love the stories of hers I've read so far. Highly recommended read
This was such a refreshing read. Flea was defo not happy to be anyone's omega and her escape act from the Omega Center showed this. She was getting out and back out of their attempts to mate her, and back to her freedom in the ninth level. Gra'ar should be on leave, however that's not his style, so the job to capture the runaway omega and return her, has him thinking this would be an easy walk in the park. However he doesn't know Flea and she is showing him exactly what she is made of. No Alpha is keeping her chained to his bed and as she gave him the chase of his life, maybe mutual respect can be her way out. Fast paced, lots of chases in tight corners and one strong Omega and an Alpha who doesn't lose.
This book is certainly different from the previous books in the series as it's fast pace due to the cat and mouse theme. I love that Flea is self reliant and willing to be more than what her dynamic requires of her. Her street smarts is what have kept her alive and will continue to do so even if it does land her in some trouble. Gra'ar isn't the typical Alpha in the sense that he wasn't looking to settle down. I guess no Alpha does until the instinct takes over to claim an Omega but his respect for Flea and her not wanting to be bonded just because an Alpha wanted an Omega for his own, was what set him apart from the others. A really wonderful, if not traditional, addition to this series.
Flea (a nickname) is an unclaimed Omega, and she wants to stay that way. To that end she escapes from the Collection Centre where she's managed to dodge several Alphas who have tried to claim her already. Gra'ar is sent to bring her back, and thinks it will be an easy job. Part of a series - but reads easily as a stand-alone - Captured immerses us in a strange yet well-drawn far away world, where gangs run an underground literally underground, and where trading is in clothes, food and flesh. Flea is a feisty and endearing heroine, Gra'ar a noble monster who in hunting her, also has to save her. Brilliant.
A wonderfully refreshing twist on the Omega Market series, Captured is a wild ride through the levels. Flea's character sets fire to the typical Omega portrayal and dances on its ashes. She is confident, strong willed, and determined to survive in a world made inhospitable even to the very strongest. Gra'ar is the rare Alpha who appreciates her uniqueness and strives to help her flourish, rather than breaking her spirit. Their chase is filled with spice and excitement, an adventure sure to delight!

Flea is the ega of my heart. She is so strong and feisty - a true warrior. She has lived a hard life and it has molded her into a fiercely independent Omega. She may be small, smaller even than others of her dynamic, but her spirit is overwhelmingly large. Because of that, it's going to take an Alpha that is overwhelmingly larger than life to win her. He might be out to capture her, but the victory may just be hers.
This story is packed full of danger and adventure, and is a slower burn than some. There is heat and passion, but the relationship is so much more than their dynamics demand. I loved Flea and wasn't disappointed in her journey to her HEA. It was perfect for her!
Review Of: ~ Captured (Omega Market #4) By Leann Ryans
🍌Overall review out of 5: ⭐️⭐️ 🍋Page count: 197 🍊Chapter count: 29 🍑Heat: 🔥🔥 🍎Cliffhanger: No 🍉Can it be read as a stand-alone: Yes 🍇Book type: Omegaverse, Paranormal, SiFi 🫐Main character/s: ~ Flea, O ~ Gra'ar, A 🥝Relationship type: MF 🍐M/M: No 🥭 Pregnancy mentions/in plot: No
🍓 Character descriptions:
🟣 Flea Fledorina Fara, 21, Omega Pale blue eyes While-blonde locks Pale skin Slim frame Delicate features
🔴 Gra’ar Zukarie, Alpha Golden eyes, Discreet second set of eyes Black hair Gray skin Small horns adorning brow and bigger ones curling back from temples Large build, wings Ridges along cheekbones
The world building is great in this book, with people living on different levels and living conditions getting progressively worse with each lower level. Although the setting is bleak, the characters are very likeable. Flea, the heroine, is not a typical omega. She’s tough and independent, refusing to accept what fate has in store for her. The hero was also pretty unique - having ‘hind eyes’ so two sets of eyes in total, as well as wings. This book has a slightly different feel to it, compared to the previous ones in the series.
Flea is a different kind of Omega, one who prefers her freedom to the luxury of being captured and claimed by an Alpha. Gra'ar is a hunter, usually sent after high value criminals, Alphas who have broken the law. He's also a loner who does things his way. When he's sent after this little Omega he thinks it'll be a cake walk. Surprise, she gives him quite a run for his money. I liked this twist on the usual A/O dynamic. And thankfully we have a satisfying HEA.

How can I get away? The only thing Flea wanted was to be free. The world just keeps throwing things in her path. Gra'ar wanted a quick side job. She had escaped too many times and the Director sent a professional to find her this time. Flea is one hard headed omega. Her strength of heart always provided her with the means to get away. Only this time she can't seem to stay lost. People always underestimate this tiny omega. Will she succeed are will the great winged alpha claim her. I recommend this book.
Brilliant read. Great world leann has made, Love that the characters in each book connect so well. Flea has done her time in the collection centre and it really wasn't for her, so she escapes back into the wide world, but life isn't how she left it and he had angered the wrong people before entering the collection centre. Gra'ar is taking his vacation but he's an Alpha who likes a challenge and is not one to back down. Brilliant read.
Flea was such an awesome character. She was so stubborn yet practical and so dang feisty. Her determination was impressive even if her devotion to freedom was a bit overzealous. Gra'ar was such a patient Alpha for the stuff he put up with from Flea. She pushed every one of his buttons, but he'd just smile and give as good as he got. This story was really fun to read and I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a spunky Omega.
Gra’ar and Flea’s story was a typical romance novel. Not a lot passion and steamy build up. It was a nice story with a lot of random action but it lacked the passion of the rest of the series. I did love that Flea was strong and independent but outside of that this story was way more romance then the typical Alpha and Omega electric sparks filled story. I enjoyed it but not my favorite in the series.M, and the ending was blah.
I have been binge reading this series and find it delightful. This story is by far the best. I gave it 5 stars because I could barely put it down. A super, special forces type Alpha chasing a proverbial free spirit. Both having reasons for not wanting to mate, at least not right away. A danger laidened chase, and a surprising ending, with hot scenes included, who could ask for a better romance to indulge in on a holiday weekend? I recommend!
I completely fell in Love with Flea, she's such a strong personality and the Alpha was perfect for her 😃. I truly wish that the story had continued on for longer, cuz they're characters were Awesome 😊. Thanks again Leeann, I truly Love this series and can't wait to read more 🤓.
