Presents more than 180 photographs of grizzlies, polar bears, and black bears in their Alaskan habitats, accompanied by the noted wildlife photographer's stories behind the images and information on the three types of bears.
To say this book is gripping is an understatement. This is truly an amazing account of what one man has experienced in his pursuit of photographing wild bears.
It's deeply unfortunate that his work has put him in occasional situations where he's had to harm some animals. I hope the good his photography and writing do will outweigh those costs.
This is an extraordinary account, and really does bring new insight, understanding, and respect for bears. Great photos, too.
Gorgeous photograph; thrilling tales; highly diverting yet undemanding nonfiction. Despite its coffee table size, this is an excellent book to have with you when you need a distraction from your own life.
