What does a welcome party, a night of drinking, and a recently enrolled college student have in common? Nothing, but that’s what was needed for a one-way ticket to Purgatory.

I’m Nerezza Taylor, and there must be a mistake. I’m not a mythical creature, and I don’t have powers. I would know if I needed Nair during the full moon or had a hankering for the taste of pennies, right?

When an ancient door pulls me into Purgatory, I’m not given much of a choice: Attend Purgatory Prep or be locked up forever since I’m an anomaly. Alex, I’ll take Purgatory Prep for 1,000, please.

Humans aren’t supposed to be able to cross over the barrier, but here I am. So what does that mean for me? Everyone makes it their duty to remind me of the fact that I don’t belong here.

The only thing that might keep me sane during this journey is my shapeshifting pet Lynx, a fainting bestie, and the five drool-worthy men here.

Want to find out how I get out of this shitstorm? Well, so do I. So come join me on my journey as I try and survive the perils of Purgatory Prep Academy.

Road to Redemption is the first novel in the Purgatory Prep Academy Series. This is a medium burn, university-age, paranormal reverse harem romance, with hints of MM. This means the FMC doesn't have to choose between her love interests.

Reader Warning: This book contains explicit scenes and cursing and is intended for 18+ readers only.

I'm a little biased but I think I did a decent job in writing this book for my debut book. Thank you for the readers that have taken a chance on me. I can't wait to really knock off your boots with the second book!

Well now. That was quite the cliffhanger. The main character is a quirky, sarcastic woman who doesn't seem to have a filter between her brain and mouth. The author was able to provide genuinely funny moments mixed with more heartfelt moments. The story and characters are engaging. I look forward to the next book in the series

Hard to finish, BUT it is a debut …

This is not well written, and is a YA novel. The conversational tone just does not hit correctly, and the egregious overuse of “b to the itch” turned me off quite a bit. It’s as though the author was afraid of being banned on Facebook and couldn’t “nut up” SIGH. Grow a pair of ovaries and use pejorative language if it’s meant to be in your story. Otherwise, edit yourself and refrain!!!

The plot isn’t too bad and the RH boys were interesting-ish, but the writing brings it down a lot. I think it was meant to be humorous, but it just didn’t connect. This author is just not funny, and very juvenile.

The author has a ways to go to reach Katie May level works. Really, the author needs refinement and an editor; a few writing courses would not be amiss, in this instance.

I may read the second one?

Has potential

I nearly DNF this book about a third of the way in, getting seriously irritated by the fact that I didn't really understand the world or the characters. It feels like, in trying to avoid an info dump, you get no info at all. There's also some annoying grammar and word choice issues that a good editor should have picked up on. The last third of the book is quite good though, having persisted long enough that _some_ parts of the plot begin to make sense, and the characters begin to feel like they have personalities. As it's in KU and not costing me I'll probably read the next one, although the fact that I'm not remotely upset by the nasty cliffhanger suggests that I'm still not really invested in the characters...
EDITED TO ADD - Second read, before reading the rest of the series, and I'm a bit more invested in the characters. Still needs a good copy editor/proofreader though.

“Nope! Guys like this one, you just can’t trust. Ones who look this good and have a slight sexy smile that pops a dimple should come with a label saying: Warning!! Warning!! Jump ship!!!”

I adored this book, loved the way it was written, it was hilariously funny with an emotional twist, the cliffhanger was a good one, in the sense, you might hate the author a little, ok? Maybe a lot.

I don’t want to give the story away, it’s a go in blind kinda book, a twisted world with an allure to the darker side, it has you on the edge while laughing so hard, that you should take to warning of not drinking while reading, very serious...because I did fall victim and snorted up coffee, not my best moment, but, totally worth it.

Intriguing, this book pulls you in from the first chapter with Soooo many questions.

A unique take on an academy RH storyline with fabulous characters, Mysterious plot and more...

The lead female is strong, sassy and beautiful. The lead males are all unique, hot and not what you expect.

I adored the multiple POVs of the story, they give you the feel for each character and you get to learn each one in their own right not just through the eyes of one particular soul.

An emotional cliff hanger that'll keep you wanting more... bring on book 2

a lot of potential spoilers to justify the rating

This book has a ton of potential but I feel like it falsely advertised as a college academy paranormal romance (this was stated by the author in one of the reader groups I’m in). and it really comes off as high school at best. You get this feeling based off the fact it’s a big deal when they miss classes or when the dean or professor gives you an excuse to miss a class. That’s just not the vibe when you are in college. There’s no such thing as needing permission to come late to a class or miss a class.

With that said I had a hard time getting into it because the characters especially the female lead’s inner monologue was really infantile and dumb. The inner monologue was just really cringe-worthy and made it seem very child like… like one of the responses to something was “holy bunny poppers”…. That’s like saying “jeepers “ it just downgraded the book and made it seem like it was geared towards kids but with adult content.

There was a lot of tell instead of show. And a lot of content added as an afterthought or added with no explanation or follow through. Like the one guy pretends to be an animal and follows her directions as the professor asked and then it was somehow a joke? I was confused at what I read. She did as was asked? But then it was a huge joke? Then this guy says sorry and she’s all blasted away by it? It’s literally the first time they’ve had a real conversation while down by the beach. They’ve had a total of two interactions that being one of them and she’s acting like they’ve known each other? There just wasn’t a good flow and a lot of loose ends which, I get, because the author is leaving these little carrots but it just doesn’t feel well hashed. Then the waxing thing? She’s having a random conversation with one of the guys (that she barely knows) and then out of nowhere she’s basically like “yeah I need to wax my down town” it was so random and was out of nowhere .. almost like “where’s the crapper” just weird then he sets an appointment up for her? Then she got blacklisted so he’s like yeah I can do hair removal for you. Insert scratching head emoji?
And it wasn’t explained right away that he meant he could do a spell to remove the hair so here I am thinking this guy is going to be waxing down there, it was just nonsensical lol.

There was no explanation how she got to purgatory prep either, she woke up in an office and nothing was explained how she got from point A to point B? I’m sorry to say but this could’ve been written better.

I appreciate this was written in a different point of view, and it is interesting but I’m worried that if I read the next one it’s going to be the same childish antics with nothing explained.

This is Kerry's very first book and she nailed it. I loved the mix of sass and spice...
It contains all the wants and needs of the reader. Her MC's harem is full of hot, broody, funny, tough, protective and broken-in their own way-men.
One moment I was at the edge of my seat the next I was laughing so hard and the next I was cursing the author trying to figure out why.
It's a well written book, great characters, awesome world building and tons of feels!
It does have a cliffhanger that will rip your heart out-I know I left mine in the first book.
I will do my best to be patient as she writes her next book, but I'm telling you it's going to be tough!

DNF
I really did not like the start of this world. She just randomly got teleported to a magical realm and finds out magic exists and she is a special snowflake with mysterious powers. You wanna know what she does next? Tried to have sex with the principal/teacher/guidance consoler person because she immediately excepts it and does not care at all…. No thanks

While not the most unique storyline, this book stands out with its characters and relationships. I've read this a couple times now, yes I'm a sucker for the hidden destiny / academy books, but something about it keeps drawing me back. It's similar to a lot of other books in the genre, but has some unique characters and story elements that makes it just different enough to keep me engaged and wanting more.

“B to the itch”..?? She’s supposed to be 23 but she talks and thinks like a 16 year old. This was just poorly written imo. I only made it to 10% so I can’t say if it gets better, but based on what I’ve read so far, I doubt it.

A lot of things are going down at Purgatory Prep. Road to Redemption is the first book in the series and was amazeballs, I have never laughed so hard. It was full of laughter, magic, steam, and mystery and I loved it.

The story mainly follows Nerezza aka Rez and is told from her point of view along with a slew of other characters that are in her group, the bestie, the guys she's interested in, and Lynx her shape-shifting familiar who due to the fact they can communicate is her support system. Rez is biracial and had to deal with a lot of bullying growing up and she's had some mental health issues but all that she's been through has made Rez one tough cookie who uses sarcasm and wit to deal with her emotional issues. I will admit the banter is good and Rez is really quick with excellent comebacks.

As for the others, Moni is Rez's new fainting bestie, who's supportable and has a coffee addiction. Lynx is hilarious and would do anything for Rez, been with her forever, makes her laugh, listens to her sorrows, and is generally so devoted to her and I love him for it. The guys in her life are something else. Levi is supper composed and supportive, Zeke is so adorable and welcoming, JP is a fashion and decor guru who has a special place for Rez in his heart, and Ryker is her banter buddy. Seriously the banter in this book is fantastic and I love the group chats they have. This is just the beginning stage of the relationships so I can't wait to see them develop more.

I was completely surprised by the storyline, I didn't see this plot coming but I'm loving the new twist that Keller has put on the subject. Not to mention the surprising variety of supernaturals and the magic was great. Not to mention the commentary both to readers and inside Rez's head was great. The story has enough uniqueness that I'm not quite sure where the story is headed but one thing is for sure, the council is shady, the guys are hot, and Purgatory is not ready for all that is Rez.

Road to Redemption was nothing but laugh-out-loud chaos that was filled with steam, drama, magic, and mystery. I laughed so hard, and thoroughly enjoyed this book even with the massive cliffhanger that made my heartbreak. I'm excitedly looking forward to the next book in the series, Keller has done a fantastic job with her first book.

Wow!

Where to start.... after picking up the pieces of my broken heart after THAT cliffhanger ending... I am not sure where to begin with this review.

As you can see from those five shiny stars... I absolutely loved this book, will be rereading and need the next book already. But can I trust this baby author with my heart?

Rez, our leading lady, is just brilliant, she is snarky and confident but she is also empathetic and really vulnerable at times too. She totally gave me Callie from the Bargainer series vibes. Rez was just awesome from the very first page, and I adored the fact that she was so sex positive! Her internal monologue was hilarious, as was her relationship with Lynx. I need a Lynx in my life! I love that she took no crap and stood up to Emer.

I also adored Moni, I love books with positive examples of female friendship and we get that in spades with Rez and Moni. I also love the way that Rez's relationships developed between her and the guys. Seriously, by half way through I was pretty much head over heels in love with them all. Levi has a very special place in my heart. I cannot wait to find out more about him, and well all of the other characters too. I loved the group chat - it made me giggle, especially the names.

I love that we got to have lots of different POVs scattered throughout the book, it was really well done, each of the characters had a different voice and it was great to find out how all of the different characters ticked and learn a little more of the world. The worldbuilding was absolutely incredible, from the very beginning of the book and I cannot wait to explore Purgatory more. I loved the fact that we got to see a whole host of different supernaturals.

Now whilst I wait impatiently for the next book, I need everyone else to read it!

Kerry the Queen of freaky minxness Keller has arrived!
For a debut novel, this book was just amazing!
I'm not going to spoil the story for you, I hate when people do it to me, but what I will tell you is there are so many things working for this author that has me drooling for her next book.
There are some brilliant concepts where I just wonder where has this author been all of my life?
What i like is how the FMC faces down her bullies. She is strong and proud, but human.
The five men in her life all suit different facets of her character. The other main characters in her book I adore, some more than others for sure as I'm sure others like me will. I can say, I really want a Lynx now.
And omg I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I died and I asked Kerry why? I am not lying when I say I felt when I read this book.
This is RH and I love the freedom this genre gives authors, and Kerry doesn't hold back. Oh no, this minx ramps it up more and loves to make her readers bleed.
For a new author, Kerry was very well polished and presented.
I will warn there are twists and turns, and the ending! I just cried!
I will also recommend 18+ because of mature content. Also be advised to become frustrated like this reviewer was, well if your single, otherwise prepare your partner to be available or have a toy handy. Also a fan! Mmm hmm.

This is the authors first book and all I can say is wow! She said she's holding back when she wrote it which makes me think WTF is it gonna be like when she lets go! She is now a definite top-five author to me.
Now for the book itself!
The FMC finds her self sucked into the paranormal world through a gateway/portal. They're telling her she's not just a human because of her blood but they're also telling her we have no clue what you are. Like any typical school even though they're all adults the bullying from other students runs rampant. They see her is nothing but a human that doesn't belong. Even one of her mates rejects her until the very end because he thinks she's just human and doesn't belong and is a troublemaker. Which she is none of the above.
The Author puts a new twist on the four Horsemen of the apocalypse. She also put a slight twist on Lilith mother of all demons.
It is a slow burn book but still has enough heat with several near miss sexual encounters and one mine blowing and counter, and I'm not counting the incubus using his magic lol!
The cliffhanger ending not only rips your heart out but makes you say give me the next book now! I was happy to be part of the ARC team and look forward to not just the book but watching the author grow!

WOW!
Well holy heck I NEED more.

An outstanding start to a series for a new up and coming author. Amazing storyline, Strong characters, Drama, Mystery and all the spice!

I couldn't stop reading.
From the moment I met Rez and her sarcastically smart mouth I knew I was going to love her. She didn't disappoint. She was everything you want from a female main character. Enter her sidekick Lynx and I was completely in love with the furrball.

The guys all bring something totally different to the table and I look forward to seeing how things are going to play out for them all after that ending. I have high hopes but also a pleading heart that it will all be okay.

I officially need a P.I.M.P in my life!

This book will have you crying with laughter, raging in anger and praying that the next book will release soon.

All in all I freaking loved it!

Kickass Debut Novel
Hard to believe this is Kerry Keller’s first novel! This book grabbed me by the lady balls and didn’t let go. Aside from the suspense of trying to figure out what’s happening to Rex, I laughed so hard reading this book. Kerry had my sense of humor straight up pegged.
Rez is a badass FMC and her relationship with Lynx is all the things. You have to read the book to appreciate what he is but needless to say he has a death grip on my heart. Then there’s P.I.M.P! We all need a P.I.M.P in our lives. Again not giving it away, because you really want to experience it for the first time when reading the book. Finally we have a wonderful mix of hot as hell men with Levi, Zeke, Ryker, Knox and JP. I really don’t want to give much away, but just trust me when I say you want to read this book. Speaking of hearts before, I will say that Kerry left my heart with a gaping wound that I’m hoping will be healed by book 2!! I can’t wait.

Oh hi I think you made a mistake at the ending yeah you know that cliffhanger!!! No I just won’t accept it and I really hope that it isn’t what it looks like because my heart can’t take anymore pain.

Road to Redemption is an absolute page-turner and I seriously cannot believe that this is Kerry’s debut book. This was one hell of an emotional roller coaster which I am prepared to ride over and over again until I die then into the afterlife.

The characters were complex, intense, mysterious and some of them were sinfully delicious. Rez was such a strong character and I really enjoyed watching her evolve as the story progressed. I especially loved watching her stand up to the bullies.

I cannot wait until the next book so I can find out what happens next.

I recieved an advanced copy for free, and this is my honest opinion.

A hilarious, steamy RH read by newbie author Kerry Keller.

Rez (Nerezza) wakes up in purgatory & finds out she's not quiet human & now must attend Purgatory Prep to work out exactly what she is & make sure she is not a danger to everyone. Rez is joined by her hilarious & often sexual 'familiar' Lynx to navigate her new world & discover who or what she really is. Rez makes new friends, new enemies & draws the attraction of some of the hottiest & most wanted males in the school.

This will have you laughing out loud, drooling, fanning yourself, cringing & cheering for Rez as she navigates her new reality & if you don't fall in love with Lynx then there is something wrong with you. An amazing start for a debut author, but damn you Kerry for leaving it on such a cliffhanger !!

I was no expecting to feel so many emotions from such a new author! The story starts out slow, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep reading but as soon as I hit 20% I could not put it down! I ended up staying up all night until 5 AM to see how things ended. And man am I angry! Let me start by saying I LOVE our heroine. She is strong and confident and although she has no powers yet she doesn’t let the rest of the Supes bully her. I can’t wait to see her guys grovel in the next few installments because they seriously messed up. Onto the the guys, Zeke is by far my favorite, with Lynx a close second and Ryker a third. I don’t yet care for Knox or Levi and I am still unsure about Jp. There is no steam until 75% but wow that scene more than made up for it! As for the cliffhanger? I am angry! If it were rational to hunt an author down and make them change an ending I totally would! I have no idea how book two will play out but I’m excited to see!

This was a debut book??? Kerry has blown me away for how well she made me feel and laugh with this book and its characters. From the get go you understood the confusion the main girl was going through and as she progressed into this strange world of purgatory you felt with her and experiences with her.
Now.. this is RH so lets talk about the men. Holy hell I need a glass of water with all the hot men that kerry was able to write into this book. I swear I am still drooling over them even though I am done with the book. Though I classify the heat level at a medium burn I can not wait to see all the steam to come in book 2.
This is a MUST READ, and a MUST WATCH OUT FOR new author.

I absolutely loved this book. I am completely shocked that this is Keller’s debut book. I enjoyed the uniqueness of each and every character. I can not wait to see what she does with this series! This book will keep you on the edge, never knowing exactly what is going to happen in the best way.
In my opinion “Road to Redemption” has just right amount of slow burn to equal out the perfect amount of smut! This is a book with smut. Not a smut book. In meaning there is an actual plot. A plot you will enjoy. I truly enjoyed all the pop culture references. I also enjoyed how much this book made me actually laugh out loud.
I highly recommend. Go read it. Enjoy it.

*Overall: 5/5*

Without question, Road to Redemption has one of the easiest 5-star reviews I’ve ever given (and you can check my profile, I’m picky). Kerry Keller has paid attention to every detail, from the chapter titles to the character arcs. The plot twists kept me deliciously guessing and the magic of Purgatory was a treat. Beautifully done piece of writing!

*Story development: 4.5/5*
*Writing quality: 5.5*
*Steam level: medium to high, but primarily plot-driven story

This was fantastic! It’s been a bit since I’ve read a book and instantly wanted to recommend it to others. Rez wakes up in Purgatory which happens to be a school. They are claiming she has powers and needs to learn all about them before she can go back to her human life. Rex does not believe them. She already has a sex crazed best friend in the form of her familiar, Lynx and there is a great and tragic story there. Since this is an introduction, we start to meet the guys, but there is no insta-love with all of them. Because all of the guys are hot, they come with a past. The Harpies from Hell descend on Rez but she does not put up with their bullying! This book is absolutely everything I didn’t know I needed. I loved it from the start. The ending is definitely cliffy, but do not hesitate to start this book right away! I’m not a huge fan of cliffhangers, but this book is worth it!

Nerezza's character is strong, resilient and hilarious. She begins this book thrown into a whole different world she didn't know about, one full of secrets and very different from the life she's known.

I love all the guys, okay maybe I love and hate them? It's mostly love. And that one scene? Read it and you'll know which I'm referencing 🥵🔥

There are so many reasons I NEED the next book ASAP and I can not wait to see more from Kerry Keller.

Wow! I have rarely read an “embryo” author that was this good! It took a couple of chapters for me to be fully hooked (I started during an extremely busy weekend) but once it got going I couldn’t put it down! I love a snarky hilarious FMC and Rez delivers!

Word of caution, It ends on a cliffhanger from hell, so if those aren’t your thing you may want to wait until the series finishes. Just do yourself a favor and make sure you do!!

I won’t post spoilers but holy balls this book was FREAKING AMAZING. Nerezza was such a well thought out character and I really appreciated her growth throughout the book. While it was phenomenally written, it will also captivate your attention. So make sure you call out of work folks because once you start you working stop.

This is a great book. For a first time writer I am seriously impressed and can't wait to see what other books she wrote beyond this series.

In this book either I am crazy or I seriously felt the wroters personality thru her writing in the first half. I have read great books before but I have never felt what seemed like a very joyful and fun personality.

The end is a pretty devistating cliff hanger. But I personally do not accept the ending and know she will make it right in the next one. That knowing is the only reason I did not cry.
