Ethan is a playboy. There isn't a kinder way to say it. It isn't that he wants to break any hearts, but dating and leaving women became a habit when he was in the military. Back then he had to move on. The only serious women in his life were his mom and his best friend, McKenna. But as Ethan looks to the future, he sees that if he continues dating the way that he has, his life ahead looks lonely. However when Ethan tries to mend his dating ways, it just doesn't seem to be working. He wants to go on more than one date with a woman, but there's always a reason it just doesn't work out. Enter Juliet Lemon.
Juliet has a curse. Or as her best friends like to think of it, a blessing. But either way, it's weird. If Juliet goes on a date with a man, he ends up marrying the very next woman he dates. It happened with Juliet's two best friends, Jake and Everly, and then it happened sixteen more times.
When Juliet finds herself in need of employment and Everly convinces her to monetize her "blessing," Jake is nervous. He doesn't want Juliet to go on dates with just any shmo off the street. So he thinks of Ethan, his good friend, who's been trying to date more seriously but can't seem to find his Mrs. Right. And he decides if Juliet is going to go along with Everly's crazy plan at least he can see to it that she does it with a man he trusts.
So the date is set. Juliet will become Ethan's marriage maker. But will her blessing work to help him find long-term bliss? Is Juliet's blessing even what it seems? Or could something a bit more magical be involved?

*This is the first novella of a series, but each episode ends with a happily ever after. ❤
This quick read was cute, but not really funny. I liked the idea of a matchmaker story and the characters were likable. It was a fast read if you have an hour or two and want something light.
Just to preface this review, I'm not one to read the book synopsis before I read a book. If it's recommended tti ne by someone who recommends sweet, clean reading, I'll give it a chance. I may read a synopsis when I put it in my tbr list, but then I don't remember what it's about when I start reading. (Yay mom brain!) This book started out with me thinking, "do I want to continue this book?" Then it went to, "ok, this is going to be interesting," to "that turned a little weird," to "who's the heroine in this story!" I get it now that the beginning of this novella is setting up the rest of the series, but I felt like I was on quite the trip to come to that realization. Especially for a novella. When I reached 75%, it felt like it should have been only 25% in a longer book length. It was a fun story idea, and I'll continue the series, especially since they're so short and not a big commitment.
This book was a little confusing. The concept for Juliets “business” did not make sense to me when her friend was trying to convince her to do it. A matchmaker without actually introducing the guy to his match? They date her once and find love immediately after. Then she goes on the date and it feels like a counseling session. This is what her father says about her gifts and it made a little bit more sense after
"Think of each man on earth like a radio. They each need to be tuned to the right station to find their mate. You help them find their station," Bobby said, causing Juliet to smile. That made a whole lot more sense. And that really was what she did.”
The book was short and most of it was about the matchmaker so there wasn’t a lot of romance or building of characters. I think it’s a cute concept but with the books being so short it’s going to be hard to connect with them.
I thought the romance was about Juliet at first but her introduction was only a set up for a series. I haven’t heard of this author before but this popped up as a recommended quick read. Lately that’s what I wanted, with low angst. Something to escape bad news. I liked how the characters are strong women and good honest men, no cattiness here. The romantic couple are people I’d want to end up together. No typos, no cliffhangers, with smooth writing. I plan to read the rest of the series.
This was a weird book. It was less about the playboy and his best friend and more about the match maker. It went on and on about surroundings and less about the people and story. I found it confusing that the book starts out with Juilet the match maker and only drifts to Ethan and his best friend for a short time sharing very little details about their lives, friendship or how they came together. They get together with really no effort and it's over. I was disappointed
This was a cute short story but I knocked off a point for the one word I would like to not read. I am not a fan of foul language and grew up being told anyone who weed it could not think of any other word to use proving their ignorance. I also wasn’t really keen on the explanation for Juliet’s intuition either. That being said the story was well written and entertaining enough.
When I started reading this book, I thought Juliet would be the main love interest. Enter Ethan, McKenna and Jen. The story was really good. Finding out about all of these people and how everything turned out. You'll enjoy reading this story, it was fun. Written by Cindy :)
Finally started and finished this book, which is the first in the series, and it was just as adorable as Book 2, which I've read first. It was interesting to read, but great to be able to get the backstory on Juliet and how she became to believe in her powers of matchmaking. Definitely recommended if you want a good, lighthearted story.
This was an enjoyable read. In real life I think this is needed to maybe prevent so many divorces. Men and women united with their true loves by a magically insightful person. The continual dating, the dangers of dating, and the discouragements of dating are too numerous. Romance can be found with Juliet’s help. Read, laugh, and enjoy.
I see why it was written the way it was to set up the story line that will work throughout the series, but it threw me for a loop that the mc wasn't the one to have her hea. It felt a tiny bit disjointed but was brought together at the end. Glad I have the next book to see where it goes. Clean.
I loved this story! It was interesting with separate sets of characters that have intertwining stories! It was captivating for sure! I’m so excited to read more!
