Like a brick at a birthday cake. Shoreham Port in Brighton England has been secured by Adrian Ring alongside his friends, with the five Navy ships that made the trans-Atlantic voyage to find the European Trinity. He must find the Soul, the Scribe, and the Warden and get them on their path, as he walked his, but there are obstacles. The undead in Europe are faster and stronger than anything they’ve encountered, and the survivors here are hungry, and desperate for help. They can’t fight every zombie, but each one they pass could be a lethal threat to their own people, or to the locals who’ve fought hard to survive. Luckily, he encounters a small, well-armed group of car-equipped survivors, led by a friendly man calling himself Chief, who dwarfs even the burly Adrian. They decide to work together to procure ground vehicles for the march north. But Chief isn’t the savior he’s pretended to be, and there are far more monsters roaming in the dark of the old world than Adrian is prepared to face. Dead Cities contains Adrian’s Journal entries from September 9th, 2014 through November 27th, 2014. It also contains the side fictions; The Ghost in the Boiler Room, Rachel and Mara, Fetters, Sanctuary, and Ernest Goes for a Walk.
I am the creator and author of Tesser: A Dragon Among Us as well as Elmoryn's The Kinless Trilogy, Colony Lost, Adrian's Undead Diary and the Darkness of Diggory Finch.
I've gone to a LOT of college. I've got a Business degree as well as a Psychology degree, and I've done the full program at the school of hard knocks. I've been a printing press operator, bouncer, purchasing agent, bodyguard, customer service representative, mental health counselor, and more. I can write about weird shit because I've done weird shit. Trust me.
I call the wonderful state of New Hampshire my home, but I love to travel. I love to read, write, play role playing games, miniatures games, video games, and Magic: The Gathering. When I find the time to be active, I like to hike, play basketball, and play football. I am married to a wonderful woman, and together we have two wonderful daughters.
Adrian has evolved incredibly since the very first book and it is always fun to find out what changes in his emotional growth and coping skills have occurred from book to book. I greatly admire him for his ability to remain a humble leader and strong warrior since day one. His concern and compassion for his fellow man is inspiring, as well as the unprecedented willingness he has to give complete strangers (at this late stage of the game) the benefit of the doubt. Truly grateful to Chris Philbrook for creating this amazingly creative and consistently fresh series with an epic cast of strong, authentic characters with very deep and mesmerizing waters
Narrator D.J. Leone did not miss a beat in getting right into the flow and unique character voices listeners expect and look forward to hearing. I would never have known this was a different narrator if I didn't see the new name listed in the credits. Absolutely phenomenal job and hope to hear Mr. Leone's voice a lot more in the future- #Anomaly.
Philbrook has slammed another home run in his character driven, emotionally charged Adrian's Undead Diary series. Now in England looking for another Trinity, Adrian, some of his Bastian family, his brother William, the USS Reuben James and 4 other naval ships have secured a safe base on the shoreline to call home. They have met other survivors who they look out for. One Adrian traded with is actually not quite exactly as he appears to be.When he asks Adrian to do a couple of favours for him, Adrian does as asked but in this world we find out no good deed goes unpunished as they will learn later. The undead here are not the usual kind as they can plan and lay ambushes. I won't say more as you have to read this great series to learn more. Highly recommend for fans of the zombie/horror genres.
Another hit out of the park for this author and series. The humor, the suspense and of course the new, more sporty zombies have ramped this story up again! Can’t wait for the next book.
I'm going out on a limb and saying that this is one of the top 3 best books inn the AND series. Chris has done some incredible work expanding on the AUD mythos and I'm excited to see what the next book brings.
Love this series so much! The only series I have read more than once. Enjoyed it even more the second time. If you are looking for an apocalyptic series were you can hardly wait for the next one, this is it!
This is a whole different type of writing. I normally stay away from diary type stories. I'm hooked on this series. You either love Adrian or you're a fool.. the authors style is blunt, and realistic well.. as it can be in a zombie apocalypse. This is however the first I've read that wasn't brought on by a man made or culling mother nature type virus. I enjoy each character and I'm actually a bit sad there isn't a 13 out yet. The only negative is whatever money was lost on an editor. Lots of spelling or whole word mistakes but I just tried to ignore them. Excited for more adventures with Adrian, and crew.
God I love these characters and this story! Now I have to hurry up and wait for the next installment. Love the direction this is along, and the crossovers in the works.
Strong characters supporting each other, doing hard things for the common good. Fighting zombies...and a darker puppetmaster hellbent on destroying humans. With humor, love, friendships, its raunchy and honest. Oh, did I mention there's a cat?
Chris Phil brook has done it again. Adrian and his crew are across the pond. They are faced with new challenges that would caused extreme pucker factor for anyone.
