This book provides a comprehensive empirical and theoretical analysis of the development of parties and party systems in Asia. An excellent collection of articles on party system institutionalization across Asia that examines this institutionalization through the theoretical lens developed by Mainwaring and Scully's (1995). The ones on Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia were my favorite along with the article on Taiwan. A must read for anyone interested in learning about party systems in authoritarian and other non-democratic states.
