STORY:
Not going to lie, when I saw the title and read the blurb of this book, I was a little skeptical. You know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. I think I underestimated this book. I was really invested in Cara’s and Val’s story. I got a little mystery/suspense, a little action and a lot of steamy passion which is good enough for me in my mafia romance books. Pregnant women give you the most in these mafia books sometimes; their hormones are on the next level. I got so caught up in the plot and the steamy chemistry between Cara and Vlad that I couldn’t put this down. I was not bored or felt the need to skip pages.

ENJOYMENT / CHEMISTRY:
OMG, the moment Cara and Vladimir connected on a physical level, this book took me to another level and for me, that means that I love the couple that it added that topping on top. It wasn’t just their physical chemistry that kept me interested. The minute they came into a scene together, you couldn’t help but want to know more and see how this plot will play out.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS
Pyotr for me was MVP, I liked his character. Wish he was a little younger to get a story for me. Not that he can’t but sometimes not a fan of big age gaps. Nobody else stood out to me in this book.

Overall, I was entertained, love that it was not just full of sex, but I got a good plot that I like and all around these falls in line with my particular taste. This was dark, not on the heavy side. No noticeable triggers other than your typical mafia killings and kidnapping. If this is book 1 in the series, I am definitely looking forward to the remaining books in the series.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

DNF 23%. I very rarely will review a book I didn't finish. My cup of tea is different from everyone else's. But this one... Oh my gosh.

There was so much wrong with this book, I just couldn't do it anymore. The main guy is from a mafia family. His father is the main guy who runs the city, they are Russian. He has a brother and the two brothers don't get along. The younger one because he's "crazy". The main guy gets upset when he sees his brother talking with their father. Because, the younger one counts for nothing, so he shouldn't be allowed to speak privately with their father. Meanwhile, the way the younger one speaks is beyond insane. He sounds about 15. Shoot, maybe 12. Very juvenile in his speech. Meanwhile the father doesn't want his sons to be in a relationship, so the older son (main hero) is forced to break up with his girlfriend because they are "too serious". When it is said that the main lady is pregnant with his son, the father expects him to kill the child. Seriously. I've never seen a mafia story where family is usually so important, demand that someone kill their own child.

It is obvious the two people have never met when they finally meet, but she is pregnant with his child. The older father is convinced that his son is trying to pull something. Even though they are strangers. The main hero is mildly violent with the girl, trying to convince her he "means business" and he has no problems hurting her.

Meanwhile, they are both hugely attracted to each other and can't stop looking at each other...

I couldn't make it any farther than this. Crazy bad. If you want a half way believable story, do yourself a favor and skip this one...

Slow, skimmed a lot. Brothers at war for mafia crown dupe poor h into being a surrogate. You have to suspend all rational thought to buy this plot:

** DNF @ 20% **

Man, I gotta learn to stop reading books "recommended" to me by Facebook. Where to begin....

-We're supposed to believe that the villain was somehow able to pass the background checks (assuming they did any) usually performed by surrogacy agencies.

-Even I know that to become a surrogate, agencies typically want someone who has had at least one live birth; this was not the case for the heroine, yet she's approved to become one.

-When the heroine discovers the ruse, neither abortion nor adoption are apparently ever even thought of (not to get political, but if a woman becomes pregnant by a man she didn't consent to AND if said man discovers that a woman got pregnant with his child without his consent, I would think the subject would at least get broached, even if the thought ends up discarded).

-Before the hero meets the heroine, it's mentioned how he had to give up a woman he was very much into because he didn't want her getting caught up in their life; this makes me uncomfortable because he's speaking of a woman, who's not the heroine, in favorable and loving terms.

-Yet once he meets the heroine, he (of course) can't stop lusting and checking her out; same could be said of the heroine, who can't stop checking out the hero's muscles.

Long story short, this book was a book of suspended belief and therefore was not for me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I read the blurb of this book I was really intrigued 🙈 I mean..you don't stumble across a storyline that has a woman becoming a surrogate for the Russian mafia heir without him knowing easily! 😈

Cara was desperate to find money because of her father illness so she decided to become a surrogate. When a couple communicated with her asking her to become their surrogate she was anxious because she wasn't sure how she would feel about having to give the baby to them after these nine months.

What she didn't expect is that she would be dragged in a mafia war because the "couple" was fake and the man who was behind all this was basically impregnating her with the sperm of his brother in order to control him.

Vlad had literally no idea how Cara carried his child since he didn't know her and then he realized that they were both pawns in his brother's ruthless game. Their father being the boss, had ordered them not to create families and since now Vlad technically had one..his father was pissed off. And that is exactly what his asshole brother wanted. To ruin the relationship between his brother and their father..

Vlad is ordered by his father to get rid of Cara and the baby if he wants to be the next mafia boss and at the same time they have to deal with the Georgian mafia because they're attacking them more than ever. This story is full of smutt, lust and steam but also all this mafia action make this book amazingly good 🖤

3.75 rating. I enjoyed this book even though there were plenty of red flags initially with Cara and this whole surrogate set-up. Her gf was suspect from day one in the whole "become a surrogate scam". As smart as Cara was supposed to be as a character she certainly did not do her due diligence into the investigation of the agency or the couple she was becoming a surrogate for. The money they offered her was a huge red flag; no surrogate gets paid $300,000 to carry a child unless she's a royal or has some special blood line. Apparently there were no attorneys involved and the agency was cast in the background with little information given as to their role or lack thereof. Once the truth comes out that she has been used, she then plays the victim throughout the book without taking any responsibility for her role or lack thereof. The story had many unexplained lapses in the plot which made the flow of the story difficult to follow at times.

I liked Val's character but couldn't stand "daddy dearest" and his ridiculous demands that Val never have a relationship or produce a heir. I have read numerous stories from this genre including those from the Russian mafia with that being the number one priority; marry and produce heirs to continue the blood line of mafia dons, so this whole reversal of that requirement was hilarious.

Cara and Val's unfolding love story and their fight to survive his lunatic brother's take over of the mob was what made the story interesting for me. The brother was clearly a psychopath and yet daddy bought into the scam hook, line and sinker. Thankfully, the rest of the mafia families didn't hence the demise of not only daddy dearest but the psycho little brother.

It was a good read once you got past the initial surrogate debacle and got into the rest of the story.

✴️✴️ONE DARK AND DECADENT RIDE✴️✴️
Holy hell hades! Aria blasts through on the wings of a flaming inferno, hotter than an erupting volcano and more explosive than dynamite, unleashing one helluva smackdown with all the badassery you can handle, launching this gem to staggering heights. One action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, block busting bombshell, kicking ass and taking names, dishing out the close-calls, near-misses and head-ons running ramping, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. Ingenuity and temperament in each thread you unravel with every page, your lured into this intriguing web so securely and precise, allies are forged and battle lines are drawn, exposing the soaring ups and agonizing downs, breathtaking in it's simplicity and inspiring in it's depth, blasting this bad boy to life flawlessly. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Bad boy….check
Bod boy’s crazy brother/friend…check
Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and how deep hate can run, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
It’s edgy yet always within boundaries of morality. It’s compelling, like Nutella, bacon and oreo cookies had a threesome and this story is their lovechild. Cara needs a little more financial help and decides to become a surrogate to help pay for her father’s medical bills but what she didn’t know was the family she is working with is about to implode two brothers Vlad and Yuri are two opposites as Vlad is next in line to lead the Bratva and Yuri wants that job and because of this it leads to lies, manipulation and danger. After becoming pregnant she finds out she was tricked and upon meeting Vlad there are concerns and preconceived notions and chemistry oh and lets not forget drama and actions so where will these two end up?

3.5⭐

I started to read this book because if the title and it's been a good ride. The storyline is different and interesting along with being steamy, cute and entertaining.

Being the oldest heir, Vlad has certain responsibilities and duties but he also has to abide by certain restrictions his father has imposed, the main being have/start no family. With a jealous brother also competing to become the leader of the Bratva, things gets complicated quickly. How Cara and Vlad meet is definitely not because they wanted too, but something different altogether.

I love how the storyline isn't about a secret pregnancy or unplanned pregnancy but is something totally different, i.e; Surrogacy pregnancy. The story had me reading continuously and I never felt bored. The build of the relationship between Cara and Vlad was cute. As good as the chemistry and romance was, the end did not disappoint either. The twist and climax was predictable, but with a HEA, this story ended on a cheery note.

Lies, deception, betrayal, loyalty, passion, family – this story has it all! This is the first book I have read from Aria Ray, and I have to say I am hooked! This is the story of Cara, Vlad and Yuri. Cara is trying to help her father with his medical treatments and will do just about anything to save him. Vlad and Yuri are brothers whose father happens to be the Pakhan of the Bratva. Vlad has been raised to take over while Yuri has always been seen as second best. Vlad is the one who thinks about his decisions and wants to have a family, but because of the way he was raised, family was seen as a weakness. Yuri is the crazy brother who doesn’t have a care in the world – other than wanting all the power. The lengths one brother goes to get what he wants not only affects his brother but an unsuspecting innocent woman.

I could not stop reading and did not put my Kindle down until I had finished the story. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.

It took me awhile to get through this book….10 days is unheard of for me. It had it good parts but then it had a lot of boring, unbelievable parts. I always felt like I was watching the story unfold through a window from 100 feet away. Occasionally there were scenes where I would have my nose pushed up to the window, but I never felt immersed in the story or connected to the characters. This story just lacked that spark that could have set it on fire and made it amazing.

I was intrigued by the title and blurb as I love mafia books and had never read a surrogate one. Cara decides to be a surrogate because she needs money to pay for her father’s medical care and when she meets the potential parents, something doesn’t sit right. She’s so desperate for the money she goes through with it anyway and finds herself in the middle of a mafia war pregnant with the future Pakhan’s child.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars. I was looking for a burning fire and this didn’t even have a spark.

When Cara's ill father is in need of money to pay his medical bills she becomes a surrogate. Vladimir's father Mikhail is building him up to take over the Bratva, teaching his son that having family is a weakness may sound ironic but after losing his wife Mikails life crashed around him and his 2 sons. But soon Cara will find out she has been used by Yuri, Vladimir's brother and she was in fact carrying Vladimirs child, and is now in the crossfire of a mafia war. The only one she can rely on to keep her and their unborn baby safe is Vladimir. This is a well written mafia romance read, with a captivating story line and characters that burst to life with emotions. filled with suspense, desires, violence, action, trust, loyalty, betrayal and more!

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Vlad and Yuri are brothers and nothing alike. Vlad might be the next in line for the Bratva but it does not keep him from wishing he could have a family. Yuri just wants to be in his brothers shoes. This leads to lies, manipulation and danger. Cara decides to become a surrogate to help pay for medical bills her father has. Without knowing it she is drawn into a family that is fixing to implode. The story is a love story between Vlad and Cara but is full of drama, twists, turns and distrust. I thought it was well written with a storyline that you will have trouble putting down. The characters are intriguing and pull you in

This is the story of two brothers and a surrogate. Vlad is the one to take over the head of their Mafia, Yuri is the second and it is the head of the Mafia that he wants. Vlad wants a family but that is not always doable. Yuri hires a surrogate and Cara is drawn in, she is doing this to raise money for her dad. He has medical bills. So she is carrying a baby so she can help her dad out. When everything comes out it is worth reading. I enjoyed the story I liked the different twists and of course the rest of the plot was worth reading. I thought the characters interacted well under the circumstances. I had empathy for Cara and even Vlad, but Yuri was a the character to dislike. Great story, and an enjoyable read.

She needed money to pay for father hospital bills so when her bestfriend suggested to to be surrogate it seem like an easy choice but things didn't turn out the way cara expected when, things become apparent that the couple were setting cara up and finds herself in danger to the bratva and people close to her aren't really her friends who can cara trust and that includes the real father of her baby, will cara get answers will she be able to save herself and the baby or will she be always on the run trying to escape those trying to kill her. This is bratva romance, an unexpected father and and physicopath brother story

First my usual points:
- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a standalone
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was not new to me

This is a bit different than other mafia books I’ve read in that the heroine isn’t selling her body for sex but as an incubator…or so she thinks. And that’s where I’ll stop before giving too much away.
It was a good story, kept me engaged with decently developed characters. I did feel at times that the characters could have been more developed or the connect between them could have been longer but overall it was a satisfying read.

3 1/2 Stars from me....
I have to admit right off the top, this book was at times a head scratcher. The premise was really out there and to resist spoiling the story, I will remain quiet on that big twist. I really almost stopped reading when that came to light because it was so implausible to me. But, read on, this turns into a very twisty, dark at times, action packed story. Vlad and Cara do not met and start their relationship in the usual way at all, but they have chemistry and one overwhelmingly powerful goal. The book has betrayal, deception, action, and steam. I would defiantly read more by Aria Ray.

Vlad is a hot mafia heir, who’s brother is trying to take him out by any means necessary, including the one thing that their father has decreed they can not have.

Surrogate Betrayal: A Dark Mafia Romance by Aria Ray. I enjoyed this story and the way the characters were thrown together in a very unusual and deceptive way. At some points of the story I was almost feeling bad for Yuri and his need for acceptance at any price. Cara and Vlad however- I was forever hoping and wishing for a much deserved sweet HEA in this dark and at times dirty tale. I would recommend this story and author to others. This is a creative Bratva Romance which focuses on Cara, who agrees to serve as a surrogate for a couple to raise money for her ill father, and Vlad the heir to his father who is the Bratva Pakhan, and Yuri, younger brother of Vlad who is crazed by the need for power. Cara and Vlad are duped by Yuri with a surrogate pregnancy. This twisted Bratva tale has well developed characters and a creative plot with lies, deceit, danger, and steamy chemistry.

desisti

Craziness.

Straight out of the world of a Spanish tellanovela. With pregnancy plots and take overs. Wow. Just pure insanity. Poor cara she was betrayed by those that she trusted and then sucked into the Bratva world. Twists and turns like no other but it was cool to watch her relationship that essentially yuri contrived evolve and grow and they searched for answers to how clad was the father and how yuri manipulated it all. Hated how his father was so easily manipulated by yuri. Cool story. Definitely crazy.

I was blown away with this book. Vlad and Cara's story was fantastic! I loved the drama, action, mystery, intrigue, steam, and the sweet HEA that this book offered. This was a total page turner for me. Vlad is an alpha male and Cara is shy yet sassy and I loved the banter/tension with these two. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series. I love to read books about the mafia but this book had everything, drama fire and lust. I couldnt put it down the main characters had so much going for them and it had depth that the more you read the more secrets that was discovered. Vlad knew what he wanted but because of family ties he was pulled from his duties and a chance for a family, but what an ending.
