I’m clearly in the minority as I thought this was a terribly written book. The premise was interesting which kept me going, but lots of angst with each of the sisters got in the way of the story line. Too many things left hanging - like how do they explain to banks/ IRS where all this cash came from.

After their mother has died, two sisters come to Nantucket to go through the family beach house. At 45 and 47 they have tons of experiences behind them, none would prepare them for the secrets they uncovered and the ways they would have to fight for each other and what is theirs. As surprise after surprise unfolds, the sisters may struggle, but in the end, they are closer than ever.

A terrific story with so many little mysteries along the way. I couldn't wait to finish it to see how things turned out. I was not disappointed! Powerful characters in a nearly idyllic setting made it easy to close my eyes and imagine I was actually there.

A moving story that is hard to put down.

I typically enjoy following a plot and seeing where the author has chosen to take me on the reading journey. In this case, I felt that I was being yanked from one improbable plot twist to the next, and with editing errors to ignore, as well.
The story began with a recently deceased mother and two grieving daughters who are trying to close out her estate. As the daughters discover more and more layers of deception from their mother, the story line flies out the window and takes wings of its own. Although I finished the book, I felt that the plot was contrived and not particularly well thought out, especially in the final parts of the book.

Kind of Short

I was really disappointed. 58 pages isn't a novel and I have to spend more money if I what the rest of the story? this one left off on a cliffhanger. I've read other novels by this author and they were very good, full novels. This series has 6 books? Not sure I want to spend more money for 58 pages and get off hanging at the end of each one, only to have to buy more books! Not sure I would recommend!

The Cottage on Nantucket

This was a very riveting story and one that I could not put down till I had finished reading it. The story is of two sisters who had come to Nantucket to finalize their mother’s will and estate. There is much mystery and intrigue in this story and it is very spellbinding. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

Wonderful read!

This was a very fun read. I loved the two sisters the most of the characters. Sometimes you find a book that you don’t want to end. Hoping that the next book will continue where the first one ends. This is one of them. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys unexpected happenings.

Very Good, Not what I expected

Jessie Newton writes an exciting book, silly me didn't read the mystery part in the title. All in all it was not at all what I expected, it was so much better. Tessa, a stay at home mom from Pennsylvania and her older sister, Janey a software rep. from Massachusetts meet up at the boat to take them over to their family's summer home in Nantucket. Right away each sister feels their shortcomings as they check each other out. They had last seen each other at their Moms funeral a few weeks earlier. Each of the girls had a close loving relationship with their Mom and they felt the loss heavily as only daughters can do. Tessa and Janey had ninety days to get everything cleaned up and settled so they could split their inheritance. Their Mom was well organized and had kept binders full of instructions. She had lived at the home in Nantucket about half a year and the other in Long Island. The girls had their instructions but what they didn't know were the secrets their Mom had kept from them. When I say secrets that is an understatement. Their Mom kept secrets that not only was about where she lived, what she owned and why things were not divided equally. The biggest surprise was the fact that decisions that their mom had made, unknowingly had put her daughters into dangerous situations and each one questioning who they could trust....could the sisters even trust each other??? Tessa and Janey each wondered how they found themselves questioning their Mom's intentions and how she could have put them in such danger. This is well written, the characteristics of each sister and the other characters are in depth and well formed. The author put the story together in a way that you just don't want to put the book down and the surprises keep coming. Definitely a book worth reading. Enjoy!

Nantucket point series

This author comes up with some good storylines, and I think they must be very popular, however for me, as enjoyable as the story is, the editing needs a lot of improvement. Either that, or the author needs to remember her story lines better. It’s a very busy story, with a lot going on, and that tends to make it unbelievable at times. The ending wound up very quickly and the fact that $2 million plus cash was discovered in various places, deposited into the bank was also unbelievable.

"Mom had kept a lot of secrets, worried as she was about making sure everyone lived a peaceful easy existence."

What am amazing read! Mom dies with a whole slew of secrets, and leaves her two daughters with more questions than answers. It's up to Janey and sister Tessa tosort it all out and come out the other side alive.

What they learn turns their lives upside down. All because of a beautiful house on Nantucket Point. This is truly an edge of your seat read that given the choice I wouldn't have slept. Very Highly Recommended 5/5

Lots of Interesting People

Jayne and Tessa are sisters. Their mother has passed, and they need to settle her estate. And the twists and turns begin. Jayne's birth certificate does not show a father's name. Their mother was married to an author, who owned a hotel in NYC, a house on Long Island, and had money from royalties from his books. But he had children, who have been fighting the will. And what about the neighbors at the cottage on Nantucket? Who are they? Lots of intense moments in this story.

Janey & Tessa have gone back to Nantucket after their mother's death to clean out the family cottage and decide what to do with it. Both sisters receive private letters from their mother in the 2nd part of the will and though they have always been close, they suddenly start to keep secrets from each other. Janey desperately needs the money that would come from the sale of the cottage, but Tessa does not want to sell. Soon information comes to light that puts them both in danger but they still can't be honest with each other. Several loose ends that were never tied up.

An intriguing story. There was an enormous inheritance for two sisters when their mother passed away. However, many problems arose. It seems their mother had a full life. Too many people, including many lovers as well as her husband, were interested in having a share of the inheritance and they were determined to get it.
A long cozy mystery with lots of characters who come up throughout the book
A good read.

Very interesting crazy story with so much mystery. I loved how the two sisters had their own story and their own mystery. At times it did get a little confusing of who got told what from their mom. I did get confused on who was who a few times but other than that this was a very interesting story that I didn't want to put down. I really like that each sister grew from this experience and learned who they were and also figured out who they wanted to be.

Couldn't put it down

The story grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until you turn the last page. So glad there is another book in the series so it doesn't end there. There are so many unexpected twists in this story that it is hard to put down when you have to and keeps you thinking about it until you can get back to it. Many household chores were neglected while reading this book😂😂

It's about family

Loved the first part of the book. All about lose of patents and the secrets that come
to the surface.. the last half of the book I found to be very confusing.. too many secrets too many characters.... and the book ends without any explanation on the lawsuit s with the Martins. Thank goodness Janey found out who was her father... as I said earlier away too confusing..

As someone who has a sister and lost a mother, I could really relate to the relationship ups-and-downs of the different perspectives that came through while sifting and sorting through a lifetime of memories and "stuff". I liked the story and the characters very much although there were several editing misses throughout the book that were annoying. They weren't misspellings but the use of the wrong word, such as "every" when they meant "ever", etc., so would escape spell-checker.

Mehhhh

Could have been a hundred pages shorter.
Parts I really liked, but then seemed to be just going in awkward directions.
Need to get a proof reader. Jn one of the early restaraunt scenes, lobster rolls were ordered, then shrimp rolls were served, and later they turned back into lobster! That just soured me for the rest of the book. It could have been much better. But it wasn't.

This was an interesting story and sometimes I couldn't keep the characters straight. Two sisters are brought together after their mother passes away and the mystery ensues. Their mother has gone to extraordinary lengths to hide money and the girls are left to come to terms with clues and information that slowly comes out. A little over the top on occasion but a good read.

WOW, lots of twists and turns

At first I thought the book was just another “beach read”. I was wrong, loved the story. So many side stories, but they all came together in the end. Jessie Newton, I’m not sure how you are going to top this one, but, I’ll be following with book 2. Highly recommend this book, I couldn’t put it down.

Loved it

After their mom dies, sisters Janey and Tessa, have to go to Nantucket Island to meet with their mom's attorney for the will and estate. This starts a crazy rollercoaster ride of a secret life their mom lived, and clearly neither knew about. The more they learn, the more questions arise, and the more dangerous it becomes for the sisters.

Excitement on a quiet resort

There are so many twists and turns in this great story. Many characters and you never know what's going to happen next. I could not put it down or wait to read the next chapter.

I thought this was an interesting story, which begins a longer saga, although some of it felt a little more dramatic than was necessary. The two sisters who are central have to deal with the aftermath of their mother’s death and discover layers of secrecy, which ultimately lead them into danger and end up changing their lives. Plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Wow

More twists and turns than a rollercoaster! At times I had to go re-read sections so I could get things straightened. There are a few inconsistency issues I found. But nothing that truly affected the outcome

Intriguing

It took a bit to get into the story. Quite a few twists and turns. It didn't get 5 stars because there were quite a few typos, which is unusual under the authors other names.
