She moved to Tennessee in 1996 with her husband and two children. She's been writing for as long as she can remember and is currently writing three different series. The Men of Clifton Montana which will be seven stories and The Bad Boys of Dry River will be six stories. The Callahans will be about four cousins. Although it is best to read the stories in order, all can be read as standalone. She is also writing four standalone books. I just couldn't put myself through any more of Becca abusing Jake and him accepting it and going back for more. Becca had to be one of the most annoying, irrational and stupidest heroines I've ever read. Talk about jumping to conclusions and shooting your mouth off before thinking. She was an absolute twit and Jake would have to be an idiot to keep wanting her.
Final straw...slapping him because he stated the bleeding obvious.
It may have improved, but I guess I'll never know. Don't judge on my review alone, please take the time to check out what others think and you may find that Jake might be perfect for you.

You know those authors you've heard of, have seen their book covers around, but somehow, not manage to read one of their books for awhile? *Hangs head* Okay, I admit this is the case with me and books by Susan Fisher-Davis. You can bet I'm kicking myself right now. Better late than never, right?
Jake is the first book in the Men of Clifton Montana series. Cowboys? Check. Small town setting? Check. More stories to come? Check. Yep, I've found me a new series to devour. Maybe it's not too bad of a thing that I've waited this long, because I'll have plenty of reading material to keep me occupied.
I love that Becca and Jake didn't hit it off immediately. Yes, there was a strong attraction, but they both pushed it out of their minds, and that began the sexual tension between the two. It was fun watching the two realize they couldn't deny the attraction, and Becca needed to put her doubts behind her. There's also a suspense element in the story I was hooked on. That kept me up a little later than I wanted, but hey, when I'm reading a good book, how can I put it down?
I can't wait to continue the series. It seemed like there were a few hints thrown in about future characters and possible couples, and I want to see how all of that pans out. Totally recommend this book.

Becca Daniels is perfectly content living in Maryland and owning a small coffee shop with her best friend and business partner. Out of the blue she receives a letter from an attorney telling her a grandmother, she never knew she had, has died and left her a horse ranch in Clifton, Montana. Her grandmother’s will stipulates that not only does she have to take possession within seven days of her grandmother’s death, but she has to live there for six months before she can sell the property. If after six months she decides to sell, she must give a man named Jacob Stone the first option to buy. She heads to Montana, somewhat reluctantly. The only good thing about the situation was it gave her the opportunity to take a break from the man she was currently seeing, but no longer really interested in.
Once Becca arrives and meets Jake, she is determined to figure out a way to keep the ranch. Sparks fly between her and Jake and she starts to rely on him and even like him. But then things start happening around the ranch. Someone steals her horses, the barn burns down and Becca can’t help but suspect Jake. Although it seems the whole town is convinced Jake isn't the culprit, Becca has her doubts. She’s almost positive he wants her land and will do anything to get it. At the same time, she finds herself wildly attracted to him and wants to believe he feels the same about her.
This book has all the elements of a great story - strong characters, drama, suspense, romance etc. Becca and Jake have amazing chemistry, even when they don’t completely trust each other. Olivia and Emma are great supporting characters. Olivia is the best friend who drops everything time and again, traveling from Maryland to Montana at a moments notice, to be there whenever Becca needs her. Emma’s story starts to develop when we are given a glimpse at her crush on Jake's brother, Gabe. It definitely draws the reader in and makes you want to know more about their history.
I enjoyed this book immensely. It was interesting and intriguing. It kept me reading late into the night in order to finish it. I had to know who was out to get Becca and whether or not she would finally give in to her feelings for Jake. I found the ending surprising. It was a twist I had not expected and I was impressed with the author's ability to keep me guessing until the end.

Oh my! Those are the only words that cross my lips when I look at the cover of this book. This cover is seriously hot and right when I saw it, I knew I had to have this book. As much as I love this cover, I loved the writing, the storyline, and the characters more. Susan Fisher-Davis has a made new fan for life. I am so impressed with this book, that this author is now going into "buy anything she writes" list.
Jake is book one in the Men of Clifton Montana, and Jake is definitely a keeper. Jake is everything I love in a man. He's sexy, protective, loyal, and honorable. These are the traits I live for when I read a romance book, and Susan Fisher-Davis delivered on all of them. The secondary characters were enjoyable and I hope every one of those characters, get their own book.

I loved it. such a great book & couldn't be happier to find a new series. Jake & Becca melted my heart. I fell in love w/Becca ranch hands as well. All the characters are great & hope to see more. Jake was my favorite character & when he called her Red or darlin i was in a puddle of love. Olivia cracked me up. That girl is a pistol. Can't wait to read her story. She is like a lion after a side of meat. Then there is Becca. So shy & polite but gave Jake a run for his money. She made sure to cjew him up & spit him out every chance she got. Emma is the sweetest. I hope she ropes her favorite Stone brother as well.

Jake is the first in the series of the Clifton Men and I will confess what a scorching read.
The story unfolds with Ms Hattie passing away and Becca is left to live on the ranch for six months. Jake is not about to let Becca come and mess up the productive ranch business. Only Becca is intrigued to who the hot cowboy is. Plans take just a little detour which keep you turning the pages, this book has mystery, adventure, romance and hot intimacy.
If you like delicious cowboys then this book is a must read. Ms Fisher- Davies is a talented and wonderful writer.

Couldn't stop reading
Men of Clifton, Montana starting with Jake, first book in the series of 25.
I love the suspense of Susan's books. I'm a bookaholic to say the least. Year to date, I have read 125 books, 195 more to go.
High testosterone runs high on the Stone brothers ranch, but when Jake meets Becca, he has met his match; a city girl all the way across the country when she finds out about the ranch her grandmother Hattie has left her after her death. But there are stimulations in the will that require Becca to live in the ranch for six months. This stubborn redhead doesn't have much use for Jake and suspects he wants to run her off the ranch so he can take it over.
Someone has stolen her horses, invade her home and cause major damage, and threats made against her to force to leave the ranch. She doesn't know where to put her trust except her friend Olivia and a new friend Emma.
But things don't add up when some of Jake's horses come up missing and someone is getting into her home when she is not there only to find the place ransacked and furniture destroyed.
An old nemesis from back east appears in her home holding Olivia and Emma at gunpoint forcing Becca to leave with him, taking her to a cabin on her property. Can Jake find her in time and does he declare his love for her? Read and find out. Happy reading!

Interesting way to spend a couple of hours.
Romance and adventure combine in this contemporary western. A fairly quick read, the plot is pretty common consisting of a city girl who inherits a western ranch, plans to sell quickly but falls for neighboring cowboy instead. She and the cowboy have repeated clashes over her land as the will has stated that he should get the land if she decides to sell. When crimes begin occurring she suspects him of trying to drive her off.
As the incidents increase in violence, culminating in her own abduction, the sheriff finds himself increasingly frustrated and helpless to prevent more from happening. In the end the cowboy and his two brothers join in the successful manhunt to solve the troubles. When he is injured, she realizes she has misjudged him badly and declares her love allowing for the requisite HEA.
This is an interesting read and I don't think you will be disappointed or disgusted that you chose to read it, but it certainly isn't great literature.

Another great book by Susan Fisher-Davis! A woman inherits a ranch from her grandmother,whom she can’t even remember,and has to stay there for six months before she can sell it.So abandoning her coffee shop she owns with her best friend in Maryland,she moves to Montana.There she meets her neighbor,who helped take care of her grandmother,and would like to take care of her! Strange things begin happening,horses get stolen,her barn catches fire and her house is torn apart for unknown reasons.And that’s just a taste of what you’ll find,besides a great romance,when you read this book.And I hope you will,you’ll like it.

Great!
I choose this rating because this is actually a pretty great book. I really enjoyed it pretty much all of the characters. determination, compassion, kindness, understanding, being open minded, believing in yourself And also falling in love unexpectedly. I really enjoy Jake and Becca story. Becca got on my nerve with the way that she was always in disbelief of Jake and him wanting to get rid of her and he wanting her land. Eventually she came to her senses. The author did a great job with putting these characters together. This book was well written, pretty great read. I recommend this book to all cowboy lover and romance readers.

I simply cannot relate to a heroine that lacks even a modicum of logic, common sense, or intelligence. Slurring cowboys as "dirty" is no way to win fans, it's ignorant. I knew from the first sentence that Steve was the bad guy. Sam, the sheriff, was made out to be sweet but ineffective. Any lawmakers worth his salt would have researched past lovers. This is hackneyed, trite and just bad characterization and plotting. This is not worth the time I spent reading it. Too bad as I was so looking forward to a good cowboy romance. Please take some quorum lessons. If this is a best seller literacyhas sunk to a new low.

Jake Stone is just one of three hardworking, hot cowboy brothers. Jake helped take care of his elderly neighbors ranch until her passing and now has to deal with Hattie's granddaughter. When Becca Daniels arrives in town and learns she must stay at least 6 months in order to keep the ranch and do with as she pleases she is instantly on edge. When she meets Jake he seems to set off her fiesty attitude. This is a stranger to lovers romance that will keep you flipping pages in the desire to know more!

Hmm
I have to say I liked the character Jake but I was getting whiplash from Becca's character. I'm not saying that right off the back she should've trusted him but come on she just seemed like a total moron for suspecting him with no evidence in my opinion, but getting a inclination about her ex's brother being involved in the crimes against her farm but shaking it off. I found her a little to naive for my liking. She didn't impress me at all smh. Other than the female lead character the story was pretty good

Not what I was hoping for
I had high hopes for the start to this series. The story line could have been pulled off with better character development. Becca was just so wishy washy-doesn't believe Jake, believes him, doesn't believe him and that continues thru 3/4 of the book! Jake had the potential to be a great character, but come on what kind of cowboy allows a woman to walk all over him like that. Even if sex 3 or 4 times was that incredible, it just doesn't seem believable.
So disappointed and I really wanted to like it!

I'm thorn because I like the premise, I like Jake as the MMC, but I can't get behind Becca's stupid stubbornness (I love headstrong FMCs, but not annoying ones) and how dragged the plot seemed at times. I feel like both of their arguments were far to similar and the second one was just plain foolish - it didn't make any sense. And with Becca's attitude I can't be convinced of any deeper connection between the main characters, it's just insta lust/love, trying to act as deep, never-ending love.

Enjoyed
This was a heartwarming story. Becca's reaction to Jake from the very beginning catches the reader's attention and has the plates turning to the end. Poor Jake no matter what he does he is in the dog house. The twists, turns and surprises kept the story interesting and entertaining. The attacks keep the reader waiting for what will happen next. Luckily Jake and Becca find a happy ending.

Special Cowboy!
Jake: It was a fantastic love story with lots of surprises and suspense. Amazing writing and storytelling. I loved the Stone brothers and Jake was extra hot. It was sad that Becca never knew her grandmother but I loved even though she never Hattie that Becca was brought to a very special place with special people. I liked how Becca and Jake met and the fireworks that went off when they were around each other.

Oh my JAKE!!!!
I enjoyed this book / story from the first sentence. It took me to a very cold winter night in Montana and boy howdy! I could not stop reading!! Ms. Fisher-Davis has painted a wonderful picture of the ranch, the town, and most definitely the people. As much as I loved Jake & Becca’s story I am so looking forward to reading Olivia’s. A Cowboy for Becca
That was fun. One day she loves him the next she didn't trust him. It was a good way to get to know if he really loved her. He didn't give up on her with all her back and forth of not trusting him. This make for a great movie. This is just my first in the series. If the next 47 safe this good tis will be my pass time for the year. Looking forward to the next book.

A 5star ride!
If you like gorgeous cowboys, this is a story not to be missed! When someone messes with a lady rancher who Jake just happens to want, all hell breaks loose! It’s a wild ride as he teams up with his 2 brothers, ranch hands, her friends and the sheriff to find whose behind the horse rustling and threats!

FANTASTIC ADVENTURE AND ROMANCE
Story begins with the introduction of the Stone brothers. Author created very dynamic and gorgeous men and in this book, Jake, the eldest, is the main topic. Here he meets Becca who arrives to inherit her grandmother's horse ranch. When it becomes apparent Becca has a stalker; the relationship between Jake and Becca becomes more intense.

I love a good Cowboy story
Ahhhhh….. what a great story and happy ending. I love that fact that it is a true romance through and through but has just a bit of suspense that adds just the right tension. I can’t wait to find out about the other characters because I’m thinking there are a couple more romances in the works!

Jake and Becca
This is a quick short read. The h is a little too wishy washy for me but we got a happy ending. This book has a surprise inheritance from a surprise grandmother, hot hunky cowboys, a feisty BFF, a new friend, a weird ex boyfriend, a new boyfriend, danger from someone, steamy scenes and love.

Wonderful series!!!
Each book in the series is complete on its own. The interaction between characters is what makes it interesting. I have read all 24 books in this series and loved each and every one of them. I absolutely could not put them down. Interesting to learn about Montana and the different careers highlighted in this series. A wonderful escape to relax.

Love finally blooms
A sweet romantic story. A big city girl from the east coast inherits a horse ranch from her grandmother. It is in Montana, a very rural part with a tiny town. A lot of angst ensues. She does not trust her grandmother's friend and fellow rancher.

Liked it but didn’t love it
An okay read spoilt by the character of becca who comes over as rude and self centred. Continually berates her love interest to the point even I didn’t understand what he saw in her.
