Protecting His Brat

Rate this book
Aberdeen

It’s ridiculous, but at almost twenty-two, Mother still controls what I wear and what I read. So, when my childhood bodyguard retires, of course Mother chooses his replacement without consulting me. I need someone to protect me from the kidnappers who always seem to be lurking, but huge, quiet, Mr. Köhler, with his jaw like stone and mashed nose, is not what I have in mind.

The man seems like he’s going to be dull, but the first time I get sassy with him, his intensity steals my breath.

Teasing him is the most fun I’ve ever had.

Blue

Before I can stop her, the bratty little tease I’m protecting gets under my skin…and then she starts calling me Daddy. Although she tests my patience and self-control, I can’t bring myself to resign.

As the danger escalates, I’ll do anything to keep Miss Kincaid safe…but keeping her safe from me is the most difficult assignment I’ve ever had.

Second read of one of my favorite Daddy Kink Infused Romances

Protecting His Brat was fire. Tender, kinky and romantic. This story between a bodyguard and his charge was deliciously smutty with bite. The elements of consensual rough foreplay combined with a softer side from this author worked perfectly.

Beautiful Aberdeen Kincaid lives in a gilded cage. Born into a privileged life, she is unloved and sheltered. For unknown reasons she is the target to threats and kidnappings thus requiring constant surveillance. When she acquires a new bodyguard, Aberdeen begins to be seen.

“You like playing games with me, don’t you, little girl. I’m supposed to be paying attention to potential dangers in your life, not fighting a perpetual fucking hard-on.”

Blue Köhler will not be winning any beauty pageants. Big, brutish, scarred and scary. Blue takes his job and responsibilities seriously. Even though Aberdeen’s wit and bratty traits are his kryptonite, this is a no-go zone. She’s too young, too inexperienced and far too tempting, even if she has her sights set on him.

“What would you suggest I do, Mr Köhler?”

He made a pained sound and pulled away. “Behave. Just fucking behave, for the love of God.”

I smiled at him sweetly. “If you say so, Daddy.”

“And stop it with the Daddy shit.”

Although trying to maintain professionalism, Blue reluctantly becomes Aberdeen's ally. Protector, friend, keeper of dirty secrets, lover. Truly these two were amazing together. It was hard not to get caught up in their blossoming romance. And the moment that Blue realizes that Aberdeen is a kinky minx who wants to play, there goes his self-restraint!

“Incorrigible. How about we’ll try some kink without the training wheels first. If you take it for Daddy like a good girl, he’ll consider sodomising you as a treat.”

As the threat on Aberdeen’s life becomes greater, Blue willingly steps up to be everything she needs. Their arrangement becomes a whole lot personal. Neither are denying their feelings, but the path is complicated since Aberdeen believes there can be a future whilst Blue knows he's just the hired help.

If you are familiar with this author’s works, she has a preference to writing hardcore erotica. Now don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t exactly sugary sweet, however Sorcha Black fabulously combined kink and romance in Protecting His Brat. Hence, all the stars from me!

I think this might be the DD/lg book I’ve been looking for. He’s not a sweet daddy, he’s grumpy af and I love it! She’s quirky, funny and just enough naive to be intriguing but not an idiot. And the backstory isn’t bad either. Overall pretty delightful!

Ugh Aberdeen’s mother ... I want to bitchslap her. There’s a big difference between being protective and being controlling. Which makes me glad books such as this exist so people can understand the difference as far as consensual kink goes.

Who knew being made to stand in the corner could be so ... alluring.

I will say his constant pulling away got annoying. Yes, I understand this is temporary but honestly it feels like it never really started.

But then he finally gave in and it was hot as all get out. Blue’s not my favorite daddy, but he’s pretty good. Aberdeen? No doubt, my favorite lg, even if her euphemisms are a bit cringeworthy. His dirty talk on the other hand is grade A.

I just want to say that I saw the outcome with Mommy Dearest a mile away, hell halfway across the world. But that’s not to say I wasn’t living for the drama. I adored every second of it, in fact, I wish it lasted longer.

Protecting His Brat is a standalone novel with Daddy kink.

Did it feed my Daddy Kink? Yes

Did it feed my Daddy Issues? No

This was a delicious treat with the right amount of kink and romance; I did have a little whiplash with the push/ pull between Blue and Aberdeen.

I love a good brat, and Aberdeen(Deen) was that plus more; she just needed to find her self and Blue brought that out in her. So many times, I was laughing at the actions of Aberdeen. I swear Deem was going to be the death of Blue. God bless Blue. I just love him and how he cared for Deen.

The character growth, kink, and steam are five stars for me. I saw a big twist coming from the beginning. Hence that is my reason for four stars.

Rather than argue, he picked me up and deposited me on the bathroom counter. I waggled my brows at him. “Good evening, sir. I’m your complimentary bar of soap. Feel free to get naked and rub me all over your body.”
“Behave.”
“I always behave.”
Like a brat.”
“Well, you didn’t specify how to behave, now did you?”
“I’ll have to remember to be more specific.”

I love the banter between the two, and how Deen pushed Blue. I did end up loving this book, and it is one of my favorites from the author

As soon as I saw Miss Black had written a daddy kink novel I knew I had to read it right away! The woman writes the kinkiest novel like no other. Huge fan.

His Brat did not disappoint at all.
A little DDlg thrown in there with some kidnapping, a smothering mother, and two best friend who seem to be panty dropping. Yes. This worked out the best way it possibly could.

You've been warned by the title that this features a brat, and what a brat Deen was. However there was just something so sweet and cute, so helpless kitten about her personality, that it was only too easy to fall in love with her. Protecting His Brat is quite simply one heck of an amazing book, a well written mix of all things naughty but fun. The dynamic between Deen and Blue just made me melt whilst their journey to a HEA gave me all the feels, the story had me giggling one minute and sobbing my heart out the next.

There are so many aspects of the story that probably shouldn't work, but somehow Sorcha Black rewrote the rules so that they did. Then again she took what could have been a fairly lightweight and kitsch trope and created a book with charm, wit and great characterisation. Aberdeen was so incredibly blinkered and naïve, yet not once did she irritate or annoy me. In fact I rather enjoyed her cheekiness and the way that she teased Blue, because there wasn't a mean or selfish bone in her body. She used all her feminine wiles, which admittedly was mainly puppy dog eyes and teasing bratiness, to push at and pursue Blue, careening haphazardly through all his barriers and defences. Blue was all tall, dark and moody but once he succumbed to Deen's charm(s) there was no way I could resist him in all his manly, Daddy-Dom swoon-iness.

Even the sex scenes were threaded with gentle touches of humour, as well as being rough, dirty, naughty and incredibly hot. For a very innocent little thing, Deen definitely had a very vivid imagination along with either no sense of self preservation or an incredibly adventurous streak! The imbued sense of fun was used incredibly well to contrast with the more serious moments, adding depth in all the right places. There was also wonderful foreshadowing throughout, though my initial guess as to the attempted kidnappings was waaaaaay off the mark - turns out it wasn't her "real" family trying to get her back!

My only problem with the book is that it didn't last forever - I don't think I'm ready to let go of Blue and Deen quite yet. Please Ms Black, may we have some more?

This book tested me on my daddy and little girl kink but it was beautifully written and if you've enjoyed books like this before then you're going to love the dick out of this book.

While I do love a hot daddy sometimes the little girl aspect of it throws me out of the scene, especially when the h says things that seem incredibly young but again, if this is something you've previously read then it won't be that jarring to you. I'm definitely a daddy lite reader 😂 but I do enjoy being pushed and this book did it perfectly.

I loved Blue (actually really dig this name for a guy) and he is the ultimate gruff daddy. Big, scarred, brutish, into rough sex and like a cherry on top the much much larger than average "daddy stick" as the h would call it (I did cringe a bit at that, not gonna lie). Add to that a filthy mouth and the fact that he's a top bloke and I was in daddy heaven.

Aberdeen was incredibly naive, she's pretty much been hidden away by her wicked, awful mother for all of her 21 years and only allowed out under strict bodyguard supervision to go to boring charity events, so to say she is sheltered is a HUUUUGE understatement but I really liked her for the most part even when she would say stuff that was incredibly child like or kind of dumb. It made sense so it wasn't just a h being stupid for no reason. Poor girl couldn't even buy her own music or clothes.

The sex was off the charts hot but not so over done that it was the only thing going on in the story. The H definitely has some reservations about starting a relationship with her so there is some delicious sexual tension and push pull going on that is my catnip.

My gripe with this book is that it ended really suddenly and they are HFN but I'm an epilogue hussy and want everything tied up and them being secure however I get the impression that maybe some of Blue's hot bodyguard friends or even his sister may get books so maybe I'll get more in those and you bet your ass I'll be reading them too.

I came into this fully expecting a quick and simple smutty read, and ended up being so surprised by how much I enjoyed this for its characters and storyline 💀😭.

The book was essentially about a very protected and sheltered girl (Deen), in need of a new bodyguard (Blue). Every aspect of Deen's life was controlled and monitored by her mother- where in this book Blue helps her live her life and have very hot, shameless sex. It was basically a very kinky coming of age story?

This book was genuinely so much fun. It was surprisingly so structured, and had some amazing banter- the wit between the two was so entertaining to read- it was actually so cool to see the characters play of each other in such a fluid way, and for their banter to be so consistent and feel natural- I loved it. No because the daddy issues were at an all-time high 💀🔫.

Don't get me wrong, there were so many aspects to the story that got glossed over, and were quite predictable- but I didn't go into this expecting much, so I wasn't that bothered. I also would've loved to have seen an epilogue just to see how the characters moved on from certain things that had happened.

And that's not to say that this book didn't traumatize me- because there were some truly questionable scenes. But I mean the smut was just great, so I'm happy 😌😌.

No bc why did this feel like if Jessa Kane wrote a full-length novel, bc let me tell you the daddy kink was real 💀💀💀. The book did have an immature air to it- but I mean it was quite fitting for their dynamic 😭🙏.

This wasn't the most memorable story, but it was fun while it lasted. Anyways stay safe 🧍‍♀️:
'It was heavy enough that I wasn’t sure why he bothered carrying a weapon when he could just bludgeon attackers to death with his penis.'

I adore Sorcha Black's books.

This one is definitely a little lighter than a lot of her other books, with her sense of humor coming through more strongly (and more hilariously, I was constantly cracking up), but keeping her trademark filthy hot sex and a bossy af Hero. She's fabulous at the push and pull when one or more of the characters is reluctant, and Protecting His Brat is no exception.

I PLOWED through this book, because I needed to know all the things and see all the things. It was exactly the kind of fun, steamy hot, and completely engaging book that I needed right now.

Also, I've never read a Daddy Dom book where the hero is so reluctant to be called "Daddy" and yet it works so well. =P The constant teasing due to their age gap (about 10 years) was probably my favorite part of the book.

Great alpha energy with a feisty fun female

Wow! I've read Sorsha Black before and thoroughly enjoyed all of them but this one may be my new favorite. It's a Daddy Dom story featuring Aberdeen and Blue. Aberdeen is an adult woman with an overbearing mother who controls every aspect of her life. Her only friends are the servants, specifically her bodyguard who is like a father to her. He is set to retire however, which necessitates a new bodyguard. Which is where we meet Blue. He is the epitome of sweet, dominant, respectful, yet firm Daddy. She is a woman desperately needing to experience more that life has to offer! One of the interesting aspects of this book to me is that Aberdeen is the pursuer in this story. She knows what she wants and goes after it (as long as her mother won't find out.) I'm hoping Sorsha want will write a sequel involving some of the secondary characters and their journey!

I highly recommend you read this book!

Oooh, I looooved this one. It was a totally delightful treat, in all ways.
Blue, a swoony bodyguard Hero, not handsome but he is hulking, huge & beyond smexy.
Aberdeen, a naive, completely innocent heroine never out of her mother's control & whose inexperience with life outside her home not to mention with men, hide a highly intelligent inquisitive mind as well as a libidio more than eager to rock & roll.
And although there is a dark & suspenseful foundational thread ~people out to kidnap/harm Aberdeen since she was a baby~ Ms. Black brought smiles & chuckles throughout the book via the snappy & delightfully scintillating dialogue between Blue & Aberdeen as well as steamy scenes that sizzle off the page.
Blue, a 30 something man, liberally scarred, bruised & battered by life yet still a good man, finds his latest 'job', the 21 year old Aberdeen, a challenging trifecta to his patience, his libido & most frighteningly, his heart.
I loved Aberdeen (& I normally loathe many heroines) for her wide-eyed exuberance for everything Blue either taught her, showed her or explained to her; for her honest joy at being able to live from out of her mother's control, for how much she admired & loved her grim, scarred bodyguard.
The writing is both superb & a joy, it's been awhile since I so thoroughly enjoyed a book that made me smile, chuckle, kept me on delicious tenterhooks suspense & romance-wise as well as curled my toes with sensual & sizzling scenes.
For the reader who wants a book with excellent writing that pulls you into the story, with WONDERFUL & multilayed characters you honestly CARE about as well as an intriguing & enchanting plot you don't want to stop reading (EVER!): READ THIS ONE! Seriously. Read it.
I did & looooved it. And it went into my TOP FAVES file to reread over & over.

"Yes, I loved her. No, I couldn't keep her. It was as simple and crushing as that."

Protecting His Brat packs a punch with an intense story, intriguing characters and off the charts sex. There's a few moments where you almost feel sorry for both Blue and Aberdeen, but their relationship is of their own making. I'm hoping to see more of them in stories involving some of the side characters.

“Fucking brats. I couldn’t handle brats. They were like fucking catnip.”

“First base, second? Wait, what are the bases now? It’s been so long I keep thinking second base is blindfolding a woman and fucking her ass without lube.”

“... the hand around my neck shifted up to grab my jaw so I couldn’t escape without a fight. He deepened the kiss, sliding his tongue between my lips, tentative, tasting, teaching me how to respond.”

Such an awesome read. Sorcha is amazing and an auto-buy author for me.

The Heir and the Bodyguard
Aberdeen Kincaid, aka Deen is losing her childhood bodyguard, he's retiring, but her mother has already chosen his replacement. Blue Kohler is the replacement and he's going to help Deen make some changes to her stifled life. Deen's mother is an over protective, cold, mean and insulting parent to only child Deen. All she seems interested in is money and Deen's inheritance that she'll get soon, on her 22nd birthday. Deen is sweet and a pleaser, she tries to make everyone happy but herself. A bodyguard is needed as there have been numerous attempts at kidnapping her, but this new one, Blue is only older than her by about a decade. Deen learns that teasing Blue, bratting and innocent attemps at flirting riles him up and turns her on. Deen has been isolated, controlled and kept innocent by her mother but that doesn't last too long once she learns how to get under Blue's skin. I loved seeing Deen get freed and awakened with the help of Blue and her bold honesty when she discovers kink and decides it just might be for her. There are many funny situations, some heartbreaking ones and watching Deen blossom into a woman of many talents very rewarding. There's pain, happiness, tears and laughter that made this complicated relationship so entertaining. I ended up cheering for the woman that Deen was by the end of her story

I like a book that can make me laugh as well as keep me reading. Protecting His Brat did that in spades.
Sorcha created fun believable characters that you could relate with even if not in the same life situation. I really enjoyed this read.

Hot bodyguard and a hot body to guard. The sweetest young woman way out of her element with a mother that has kept her sheltered all her life. Money.

A longtime bodyguard now replaced with a quiet one or so they think, he seems like he's a lot to say to our little bird in the golden cage.

There is something sketchy going on and his princess that he's protecting is on a wanted list. Is it because of her money or...something else? Not only does the new staff has to keep the bird protected from harm, but he also needs to keep her protected from herself and well as himself. (smiles)

I had a lot of fun reading this book, just enough sexy and story mixed to make it a story worth reading. Enjoy.

I've read several books by Sorcha Black and this rates up there with my favourites.

What I love about this author is her character building, and she's outdone herself with developing Aberdeen (Deen). Watching her grow from a sheltered young woman to a woman within her own right was a treat to behold.

Brats can be hit and miss for me, and this was a total hit. I loved the way Aberdeen pushed Mr. Köhler's buttons.

This books has a lot going for it - awesome characters, hot MF sex, a mystery woven throughout, and a satisfying ending.

Simply brilliant

Blue was a deliciously grumpy Daddy for our sheltered Deen. It was clear about halfway through what the mystery would be, but it was well written nonetheless. The Daddy dynamic was perfectly done and hot AF. I would have liked to know a bit more about Violet, however.

I Love a Good Brat

What can I say about this book? I freaking love it for starters. I wanna be bff's with Aberdeen and I don't think Amazon will approve my review if I write what I want to do with Blue.

Sorcha writes such great brats and she did not disappoint with Aberdeen. There were so many times I found myself laughing and snickering over the dialogue. This book reminds me so much of the Brats series, which is how I was introduced to Sorcha's writing to begin with.

I can not give this book enough love. So quit reading my review and one click already!

A really great Daddy Dom book

You will not be disappointed with this steamy book. It starts out really interesting and it stays interesting to the end. There is nice ending that sort of has a twist to it and then every thing is resolved and there is a nice sweet HEA at the end. This book is so terrific. You really are not going to be disappointed.

Very Hot Erotic Romance

Typical pouty bratty girl makes the hand twitch of the overbearing protective macho man. The main character annoyed the hell out of me. Aberdeen came up with the stupidest words daddy stick?! I enjoyed the sex scenes though. The plot with her mom was so transparent too.

If you like hot dirty sex, Sorcha Black is definitely an author to check out.

Sorcha Black’s Protecting his Brat was an absolute hoot to read and I loved every moment of it. There are so many good things about the story but I don’t want to risk plot spoilers. I will readily confess that I generally don’t care for “brats”—in real life or on the page. They tend to appear contrived or downright ugly and petulant in their attempts at manipulation. THAT is so not Aberdeen. I adored how she played around with her own sexuality (no, not like that) and figured out how to use her feminine wiles to get and keep Blue’s attention. And even though Blue was on to her attempts, he still enjoyed her antics. Coupled in with two great characters is an entertaining story about a young woman forced to live a life of seclusion and her attempts to break free.

I highlighted some fabulous and/or entertaining quotes as I read and I’ll share a couple of them.

“For a man who claimed that most bodyguard work was uneventful, he had many scars, white, and pink, and jagged. Puckered, raised, dented. A doctor might be able to catalog all of the injuries and guess the cause, but to me it was only violent Braille on his skin.”

“‘Call a maid to do that. Kincaids don’t crawl around on the floor.’
‘Not even with incredible incentive?’ I mumbled, shooting the impressive bulge in Blue’s dress pants a look of longing.”

And one of my absolute faves: “Now stop trying to be noble and give me some dick.”

Buy the book. It’s pure entertainment.

An absolute pleasure to read.

Deen and Blue form quite a pair. Aberdeen is a delightful mixture of sweet, bratty, innocent and absolutely dirty. Blue is an unconventionally hunky alpha male with a massive freak flag that he has no problem flying high. The book did a great job balancing being a love story with some of the raw intense sexual situations that come about with this much kink. It was a sweet story with plenty of spice, as I’ve come to expect from Sorcha’s writing.

Deen and Blue burn the pages with the tension crackling between them, a classic forbidden love story with some DD/lg kink tossed in to spice things up, add a bit of mystery and tension of the unknown threat to Deen’s life and this pair was bound to fall into bed together.

A delightful story, good for people looking for some light kink with nothing too hardcore.

Aberdeen is one of my favorite characters I’ve read in a while. Even though she’s been kept somewhat secluded and naïve, she knows she wants Blue. But he’s her bodyguard. Blue resists her but a man can only take so much brattyness before he has to do something about it.

I totally loved their banter, she is such a brat and she knows it. I literally laughed out loud at some of the things she said to Blue.

As the story progresses, we get more insights into both of their lives, and makes them get even closer. There’s drama, intrigue and a daddy stick that is too much to handle. I would love to read stories from some of the side characters, like Ariel or Violet. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This is one of those books I think I'll quickly forget. It wasn't horrible but it also failed to grab my full attention. I didn't care about the subplot of Aberdeen constantly being threatened with kidnapping. The twist of who was behind it didn't shock me at all. The Daddy kink felt oddly out of place with the two leads though it seems like a no brainer with the age difference and the Dom/sub nature of their relationship. I just didn't care for it.

Blue is a generic love interest but I was most interested in his roommates and their shared history. I'm not sure if a series will come out of this but the potential is there; it even has the title of the series if the author decided to expand this universe. I just won't be reading it if it ever happens.

Deen has been sheltered and controlled her entire life by her mother because when she was a baby she was kidnapped and since then there have been other attempts to take her. He beloved bodyguard is ready to retire and she had hoped to have some say in who the next one would be but instead her mother had already hired Blue. Blue can see Deen’s submissive bratty side and is doing his best to keep things professional but it isn’t easy. Will he decide to save his reputation as a bodyguard and move on cross the line with his bratty girl? Great characters with lots of depth, intense chemistry and witty. I loved it!

The author has added a new element to her books, mystery and intrique. From beginning to end I was trying to connect dots. Her key elements for me in a romance are an alpha male and a woman who lets him be that way without ruling over her, it's usually the alpha on a leash. Aberdeen is a sweet enjonue and Blue is the perfect alpha for her to seduce. The story has huge chemistry and my favorite, banter. I'm hoping it won't be a standalone, I'd love to see what's in store for the cast of characters. Also...holy moly is it steamy!!

The erotic stuff in this was fairly 🔥, but I just found this book to be wayyy too long. I also couldn’t quite get into the vibe. I wanted more drama, or something. The emotional storyline with her mother just felt very flat. Also, after such a long book… total nothing of an ending. Like… what happens to them? Spoilers: he almost dies and then she gives him head. I know she gets him to say he’ll marry her, but it was all so lack lustre it honestly didn’t feel significant, like his thinking hadn’t majorly changed, so he’d just as likely go back to thinking they shouldn’t be together.

Super sexy story!

This is one delicious story that kept me captivated, entertained and squirming in my seat.

Aberdeen and Blue are fantastic characters that have a really intense connection and such hot sexual chemistry that it will leave you breathless and begging for more. Blue is just what Aberdeen needs to tame her bratty ways. He's domineering, stern and a total sexy alpha. Blue and Aberdeen's interactions at times were very funny and at other times had me fanning myself to cool down!

Fantastic and delicious story. I can't wait to read more from this amazing author.
