I told him my deepest, darkest secret,
And in turn, he made my wish come true.

She's the shy girl.
The one you'd never notice.
But I did.
I watched her, studied her.
While she worked in the library, meticulously rearranging books as though she'd written them herself.
I wanted her... so I made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.
Tell me your deepest, darkest wish...
And I will make it come true.
One whisper ...
One single wish ...
And I bought her soul.

Wow, what an amazing dark read this story is. You are gripped from the first page till the very last one then left wanting more. This is the unusual story of Amelia and Eli. These two characters have a strong connection to each other from the start. This author has an amazing talent for bringing you alpha males, smart women mixed with an amazing story line. This definitely a page turner of a read. Another fantastic well written story from this author.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Another fantastic book by Clarissa. This book is dark and twisted. Amelia has no idea what she is in store for. Two little words are about to change her life. Eli was raised to take over his family’s business. Amelia has caught Eli’s attention. He brings her in himself. That isn’t how things are done though. Amelia has no idea what is going on. Why this man has brought her here. He says she did something that she needs to atone for, a sin. Amelia doesn’t plan on making it easy for him. She needs to understand why and what is happening. I can’t say enough about this book or these characters. Amelia is making Eli break all his own rules without really trying. Eli is strong in his beliefs but knows that he is on the edge. I can’t wait for the next book.

One stranger...One woman...and one encounter that will change her life as she knows it. Eli knows he wants Amelia from the moment he sees her. Amelia life is unraveling until one stranger walked into her life. Amelia may be intrigued but she’s also scared. Who is this man that seems to always be where she is? Will Amelia succumb to her darkest desires or will getting taken by this man lead to something else? Told with a few flashbacks to show who they really are. This is a dark captive romance with twists you won’t see coming and also has possible triggers for some. I enjoyed this story and can’t wait for book two. A great read for dark romance lovers but be warned this ends in a cliffhanger. Told In Dual POV

Plot Summary :

A Forbidden places her with him unwillingly. Now there is nowhere she can go and no way to prevent whatever he is going to do to her.

Eli is a mastermind. He has his own business that has made him rich. A business that no one has any idea of. That is until a little bird gets landed on his lap. Amelia is everything he wants and can't stay away from. But there is no way they both can work. That is until she becomes the sinner and a single wish makes him capture her. Now she was all his and was not going anywhere until he was done punishing her.

Overall Opinion :
Okay , first of all… what the hell??!!! That ending. Omg . Dead. I knew that this author was amazing but I never comprehended the amazing way she could spin this tale. My thoughts for this book were somewhere between , 'omg he is a psycho and so deranged' to 'hell he is hot'. And they kept on switching back and forth. The way the book is written, I bet , Clarissa will keep you guessing till the very end and won't let you go no matter how much you beg her to!

Amelia and Eli have one hell of a crazy tale that I enjoyed the hell out of. I want the next book asap!! So freaking good! That twist at the end , omg , I think I'll go crazy from anticipation! This author confused me in the very best way Throughout the whole book , making me salivate for answers and when she finally gave them to me , BAM , the book ended!

A must read and highly recommended from my side to all the dark Romance lovers! Eli is one hell of a Stalker psychopath that you guys don't want to miss meeting!

Clarissa Wild came out swinging for her first book of 2021. Dark Wish is unlike anything I have read lately and unlike anything, I thought it would be. Dark Wish takes you into Amelia and Eli's world of good and evil, black and white. Is there any grey in the world? In Eli's world, there is only bad and he is there to bring it out of certain people and make them repent. When he sees Amelia he knows she is a bad girl that needs to repent.

Dark Wish is a twistedly dark read that keeps you guessing to the very last word. And when you get to that last word it will keep you wanting more. I knew that Dark Wish was a duet so I knew there would be more later on, but Clarrisa knew just where to end this book.

If you are looking for a dark and kind of disturbing story this is the one for you. But I have to warn you, nothing is what it seems, and come in with an open mind.

STORY:
Can we have a moment of silence for the blurb...... Can I just say, before starting this book, the blurb alone gave me chills. The author had me at librarian. With saying that, I had mix emotions throughout the story. So we will start with the beginning of the book. Eli does stalking so well. In one of his opening scenes and interaction with Amelia, he gave me panty dropper and sexy. A few pages later he gave me dark and very mysterious. The beginning of the book gave me feelings of anxiousness mix with excitement because you’re not sure where this story was going.

Then Amelia is kidnapped. For me, everything after this gave me mix emotions. The beginning felt like a different book in some ways and I really love how this book started. After being kidnapped, this was definitely anticipation mix with so much mystery, and I was enjoying it for a while. After reading more, it felt repetitive with Eli saying the same things. When Eli communicated with Amelia, sometimes it felt like riddles which I guess falls in the line of mysterious. Then my interest perks up again with a little excitement with the scenes with Anna, because it brought me out of the Eli and Amelia rotating bubble.

CHEMISTRY:
In the beginning of the book, Amelia’s and Eli’s chemistry was lit. However, I personally felt that the mystery of why she was kidnapped overshadowed their chemistry or more blocked me from fully enjoying their chemistry. I wanted a little more teasing and soak panty on this journey as well. Once Eli finally caved in to his desires, the juices started flowing again.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS
I was definitely interested in Tobias and wanting to know more, especially his attachment to a specific character.( this is me not trying to spoil it)

Overall, I had highs, lows and highs again throughout this book. I still liked the story and would like to see where this leads to.

**Triggers: stalking, marks on body that appears to be from abuse and kidnapping

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Excerpt:
The door opens. First, a foot is visible. Then the black suit. Another foot. The man with the square jaw steps inside my room again, his thin lips tugging at the corner into a rugged, crooked smile.
I freeze in place as he closes the door behind him. The click of the lock falling into place makes my heart jump. Every step he takes is another one that forces me to stay put, as though his very presence is enough to make my body falter. My muscles fail to listen to me when I tell them to move. When I want to raise a fist and punch him for daring to get close.
Instead, I just stand there, gazing at both of us in the mirror, wondering why he did all of this to me … and what he’s planning to do.
As he walks closer, I hold my breath until I can practically feel his body against mine. He looks at me through the mirror, his tongue darting out briefly like a wolf would when it’s about to eat.
“You look … beautiful,” he says, his voice luscious, almost sexy. “Peculiar choice of dress, but I can appreciate that,” he muses, and he places a hand on my shoulder. Goose bumps scatter on my skin. “Look at yourself … So pretty yet so violent, those thoughts swirling inside your head.”
I spin on my heels, forcing his hand to drop from my shoulder. Even though my heart is racing, I come face-to-face with the man who trapped me.
“Who are you?”
That same dark, almost hungry smile appears. “Call me Eli.”
Eli … such an innocent name for such a devilish man.
“What do you want from me?” I ask.
“What do I want?” He snorts, almost as if to laugh at me. “No, Amelia. This is what you wanted.”
My eyes widen as fire rages through my chest. “What I wanted? I never asked to be locked up like some pet.”
Suddenly, his hand is on my neck, fingers twisted around my flesh, causing me to gasp. “You asked …” His grip loosens, and his thumb caresses me so softly it confuses the hell out of me. “And I am here to make your wish come true.”
Tears well up in my eyes from my predicament. “What do you plan on doing to me?”
He cocks his head and bites his bottom lip, his eyes glazing over my body as though he’s taking in all that he owns. “Whatever I choose … Because that’s what you asked for: To be punished.”
“I take it back,” I say as a tear rolls down my cheek.
His hand slides up my neck, gently caressing my face until he reaches my cheek, where he picks up the lonely tear with his index finger and studies it for a moment. “Too late.”
He grabs my hand, lifting it. My eyes close, expecting pain.
But I’m surprised by a gentle kiss on the top of my hand. His rugged lips feel hot on my skin, and turmoil breaks my heart in two. This handsome stranger has taken me into what I assume is his home, but it’s cost me my freedom. All because of that one question he asked me.
His lips part again. “I will see you tonight.”
Then he turns around and marches off, leaving me with nothing except more insufferable questions that I don’t know the answers to.

Dark Wish by Clarissa Wild

I Give This Book a 2/5 Star Rating.

This book did not go in the way I was eagerly anticipating...

HEA(?): No.
Cliffhanger(?): There will be a Book 2, so yup.
Dark(?): No.
Dark Heat(?): Nope.
Heat: At 60% there really isn’t that much heat in all honesty, descriptions are a bit too vague to be able to picture at times. And at 80 to 85% was an actual sex scene....., let’s just say Tobias scene was much hotter than anything else provided in the book. So heat between Amelia & Eli: 1/5
Romance: I can’t even with this one, sorry.
Drama: hmm...Amelia being a Drama Queen is at a 100%
Otherwise some aspects in the book felt like..soap opera dramatic-ish(?) as well as the..swooning type. I’m just not gonna rate this one.
Suspense: As I’m not knowing what the heck is going on half the time I say 5/5. 😕
Pacing: Rollercoaster meets Bumper cars...(?)
Predictable(?): Kinda yeah, but it’s frustrating.
Relationship Type: MF but NOT MF(?), I don’t want it to be an MF...just an M...

Amelia >to me< is an aggravating and very overdramatized and selfish character that takes absolutely no responsibility for anything she does.
The resistance towards her inheritance just doesn’t make sense to me, it’s dumbfounding to me cause it’s not logical. You can’t feel sorry for someone who is putting themselves purposely in a crappy situation, and the other issue is you barely know her for a large percentage of the book.
She’s also way too confident as a captive, and heck what she’s living in is like the lap of luxury aka the Gilded Cage. I’m actually rooting for Eli to knock her down a peg in all seriousness. She doesn’t seem very smart most of the time, you know all those emoji & GIF that pop up when you type ‘What?’ or ‘Huh?’(?)... yeah I had a few of those moments. She’s not quite the brightest bulb when it comes to repercussions, and yet...she might be onto something cause she never really gets in trouble.

I treat Amelia as an individual being and not as written character, because people like her do exist. It’s not the way she’s written, it’s just I personally couldn’t like her as a person.
No fault to the Author, I just couldn’t connect
with Amelia.

Repetition with Amelia: “..my/her pupils dilate..”, this is repeated over >16< times.

There are quite a few discrepancies, like using bobby-pins to open doors in front of a camera at night (I’m assuming for how rich they are...night vision..) and yet she never gets caught when she was practicing?, opening a door with bobby-pins yet the door locks behind her automatically but she can open the door again without issue?, and the scene when she gets tackled by the a highly trained guard and manages to nearly kill him...wasn’t even fundamentally sound. She crosses her legs under her heavy dress..in defiance, it’s almost like I’m reading a Modern maybe..regency era type of thing(?).. It’s hard to grasp at least...on top of her behavior...I’m confused...

I mean what the heck are her SINS?! I was expecting more Sins cause it’s sounded like there was more, evidently there’s just one and it’s crazy she’s being ‘punished’ for it.
She never actually gets punished, which is a shame. In all honesty, Eli is practically punishing himself just on the sake of having her around.
Eli is not as dark as I was entirely expecting him to be, dont really know what he looks like, he’s hot & cold, he’s too lenient/concedes way too easily. He’s pussified... there’s no other way to say it, I wanted this guy to be like Soren aka scary and a totally bad-butt(!!, you know I had to fix that in order for it to be accepted 😆) and that’s not what you get.

I can’t understand the logic in here sometimes because it’s flip floppy and the self harming felt over the top for Eli and the other guys too. There is a religious aspect but I’m not give a reason for it.

There is a lot of things that seems to be..cut off(?) or umm...isn’t followed through? or is unfinished? (Not sure on what term to really use..) So that in itself is a bit frustrating. As well as not being fully explained, I need better background information and I’m working with tiny bits of crumbs.
There’s no REAL background, which this book needs VERY badly for both Amelia & Eli. You are left in the dark for a significantly large amount of time in the book to the point that Losing Interest is very high. I WANT to know more about the House of Sin and the elaboration of how it works and how long it’s been going on and/or came to be.
I’m honestly interested.

This book desperately needs a Prequel or at least a better prologue, what is there is a synopsis not a prologue. The ‘15 years ago’ part, should’ve been the prologue, that way something from the past draws my attention into reading the present day.

This is the second book I’ve not liked, but the synopsis/blurbs sounded so good.
The quality is not at all what I am used to by this author and that is heartbreaking.
I will not be following up with Book 2.
I had to force myself to finish this book, I did not like Amelia that much.

The Concept IS GREAT, but the execution is not.

DNF - a “shy” heroine doesn’t hand out lap dances as a stripper. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 And of course she craves to be dominated. This shy retiring “innocent” flower who lives with her long term boyfriend. That blurb is very much a misrepresentation of what this actually is.

Not for me.

Dark Wish was such a good book to devour today. Yes, it still gave me some mystery vibes but it also gave me the dark romance that I feel like I needed. From the very first page, I was hooked and slightly obsessed with the characters. Then I got even more obsessed with each little twist and turn that came my way.

The push and pull between these two was way too easy to devour. Or maybe that's just me. All I'm going to say is that I just enjoyed the heck out of it. I did kind of wanted more flashbacks but I also didn't like Amelia's boyfriend or whatever he thinks he was trying to be. Then with the girls and their dark secrets coming out to play just added a new element to it all.

In the end, I'm so going to jump into the sequel. Zero hesitations from me because I need more from this group of characters. More darkness and secrets. More dark romance. Just more.

How does this book have a 4+ average rating? It was awful. Boring. I can’t believe I made it to the end. Eli is a sadistic asshole and Amelia is a wimpy moron. I was actually hoping she would take the shard of glass and stick it in her own neck. Not a good feeling to have for the MFC.

Rather than building suspense, the author keeps us in the dark. Nothing about Eli’s background is revealed until 50% in. And we don’t know much more about this supposed sin that Amelia committed until 90%! By that time, I don’t give a shit about either of these characters. And I realize that the opening scene in the library, which is what prompted me to check out the book in the first place, was a fool’s paradise.

Save yourself some time, find something else to read. I don’t care if it’s the back of a box of cereal. That will be better than this.

Dark Wish by Clarissa Wild is a dark, twisted, steamy, forbidden and intense romance read that takes the reader on quite the rollercoaster ride. Eli and Amelia's story is unusual and mysterious. Get ready for the intense chemistry between them. They have this instant connection. It's a push/pull connection. Eli is hard to describe except very mysterious. He is handsome and there's something that draws people to him. He's got this magical draw to him. But keep your eyes on him. He isn't as good as he looks, he's more bad. Amelia's is as good as she does look. Or is she? The story ends on this sizzling cliffhanger. I can't wait for book 2!

WOW, this book is so good. I was drawn in from the beginning and could not read it fast enough. Eli and Amelia's story is a very unusual one but one that will have you hooked because you want to know more. Clarissa out did herself on this one, and I cannot wait for the next book already.
This book was perfect in my opinion. I recommend it to everyone.

When Eli sees Amelia working in the library, he knows that he wants her immediately and when they touch, sparks fly between them. He begins to watch her and even saves her while she is working her other job at a club. Then he tells her to share her deepest darkest wish and he will make it come true. Fast-paced dark read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. The chemistry is intense and the characters really draw you into the story. I loved it.

I'm a very big fan of Clarissa Wild because her books tend to sing to my dark & twisty soul, plus she's completely unpredictable which is also my jam. Unfortunately, Dark Wish didn't give me that whole chills thing I normally get. I'm not saying it wasn't unpredictable because it totally was, but there was some repetitiveness that took away from the story in my opinion. Anyway, this is Eli (a stalker) & Amelia's (the librarian) story which is definitely intriguing. Hell, I'm still not sure what is going on to be honest, and it makes me super happy since I was just dropping loud f-bombs. At the beginning of the book the chemistry was shooting sparks out of my kindle, but as the story went on, it seemed to take a backseat & I'm not really sure how I feel about that at the end of the day. There are also the mysterious secondaries, which I hope we get more of in the future. See, I'm one big ball of confusion so forgive this confusing review but I don't do spoilers & my head is a mess. I do know that I'll go back & read Dark Wish again to see if it's just this season in my life, and I am interested to see where Book 2 takes us! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is a very intriguing story that will have you question what you read at every page. Yet I loved this enigmatic journey. Eli and Amelia are pulled together and have this magnetic connection and you don't really understand why. The suspense will be killing you at every page and i can't wait to understand the full scope of the story. As usual Clarissa Wild knows how to tempt her readers and tickle your imagination. Dark Wish by Clarissa Wild

Publication date 23/2/2021

My Review......

I’ll have to be honest, I did have to wonder what the hell I was reading?!
The description held so much promise, and whilst I was wondering on wether to continue or not, the next page caught my eye, and then the next page, and then the next.....
And before you know it, I’m hooked!!
That is the first book I’ve ever read that I was really uncomfortable with the male character, I couldn’t get a bead on him, he was so closed off and even when he spoke to himself, he just felt really sinister!!

Eli sees her as an angel, but he knows that no one is that innocent, she will fall eventually, and when she does, then he will punish her!!
We see him as a young man, we see his struggle with his father. Does this shape him into the man he is today? I’d have to say yes. Both his father and Eli fight for dominance!

Amelia a feeling of being watched is making her feel really wary!! And at work a man watches her, this scares and excites her. What does he want? And does he see the dark side of her? She gives off that vibe of quite a loner, yes she has a boyfriend, but I don’t think she’s happy in that relationship.....

And when Eli asks her what her darkest desire is, she answers quickly and to her own surprise truthfully.
Being hustled out of the library and Into his car, Amelia hasn’t a clue what’s going on, and then to her horror she’s injected!! He’s drugged her!! What the hell has she let herself in for??

And from there is a series of games and questions that Eli sets for her, if she gets them wrong her punishment is swift!

We get flashbacks of their pasts. How Amelia lost her parents at an early age. And how Eli’s mother never loved him at all!!

There are a few moments where I had to decide on wether or not to continue, but like Amelia I was drawn back in, and then there were the OMG moments, the comprehension of what I was reading, how the lives of these two couple were intertwined, and how Eli really couldn’t walk away. And how he hated her for it!!
There are many scenes I found uncomfortable, (forced orgasms) but still I needed to read more.
But the further I got into this book, the more I wanted to know, and I also wanted Eli to fall for his captive, to question his motives.
I also wanted to know what she was asking to be punished for!
Secondary characters Soren, Tobias and Mary just added more layers to this compelling tale. And the other women! It’s sounds like a brain washing facility (they are not what society claims them to be?!)

The story is told really well, the atmosphere is set, the tension is always taught, and at any moment the pace changes, and so it keeps you off balance.

But as time goes by can Amelia really trust Eli?She looks at him as a madman, but there us something in the back of her mind, just teasing her with a memory....
Can he help her remember what she did? Do the punishments help or hinder her?
And if given the opportunity would she, could she leave? Run away and never look back? And what is it he wants her to admit to?

The role Eli plays is a dangerous game, he wants her, he knows he shouldn’t, but he can’t help himself. If only she would remember what she did, then they can be together.
Tobias and Soren repeatedly warn Eli he’s too involved, but he’s not listening, he thinks he can handle her. But is he as trapped as she is?

And then it goes and ends on a cliffhanger!!! NO!!! NO!!!NO!!! I need to know what happens next......

However, before I can say anything else, he’s dragged me up the bed and reached behind the boards for a pair of cuffs that he attaches to my wrists, locking me in place.
He leans back up on his knees and gazes at me as if to admire his work.
“Shouldn’t talk back to me like that, angel,” he murmurs. “You will stay here until you’ve learned your lesson.”
“What? But I didn’t do anything,” I reply, jerking on the cuffs, but it’s no use. They’re tightly chained to the bed.
He plants both his hands on the headboard beside my head and leans over to glare at me from up close. His dreamy eyes wide, dark but inviting, like a siren’s call luring me into submission, but I won’t fall for that trap. I look away, angered that he’d take even more of my freedom by trapping me on this bed.
“You think you didn’t … but the mind can be a treacherous thing.” A devilish smirk forms on his lips, and he grabs my chin and forces me to look at him. “But I will help you.”
“Help?” I scoff. “All you’ve done is take more away from me.”
He nods. “And I will keep taking more …” He leans in closer until I can feel his breath on my skin. “And more …” His lips linger near my ear, whispering sweetly like a man drunk on the possibilities. “And more. Until you have nothing left to give, and even then …” His lips curl. “More.” That last word almost comes out with a wolfish growl, and it manages to make goose bumps scatter on my skin.
He smiles against my earlobe, his lips grazing my skin, tantalizing my senses as my body betrays me. I knew he was handsome the very first time I saw him, so handsome that it made me stop in my tracks and stare. When he’s this close, I can’t deny it does something to me, but being attractive won’t hide his sadistic ways.
“I don’t use … I don’t fuck …” The way he pronounces each word so carefully as though he wants me to linger on them like I would on a kiss makes me swallow hard. “I teach.”
I gulp. “Teach what?”
Pain? Anger? Fear?
“Humility,” he growls. His tongue dips out to drag a line from my ear to my cheek, where he leans away to look me in the eyes again. “Tell me … what did you think would happen when you provoked me like that?”
“You think that just because you call me angel I’ll be good? That I’m easy?” I hiss, trying to keep my resolve even though it’s crumbling fast, knowing that I’m locked in his chains.
“Easy? No.” He bites his bottom lip, and for some reason, my eyes home in on it. “Willing … yes.”
I frown. “I didn’t—”
He plants a finger against my lips and says, “You asked.” His eyes narrow as his hand slides down my thigh, my body twisting and contorting so I don’t feel the heat rising in my belly or have to face the wetness pooling between my legs when he gets closer and closer.
“And now it’s time for you to beg.”

I like to pride myself 100% honest with my reviews, so I will be honest with this one. I almost put this down and gave up several times. My reasons being that I felt the story was firstly dragged out, I haven't read the second book yet but feel this book could probably have been condensed and the 2 books could have been just 1 - just guessing there a bit but this one could have been a lot shorter. My other issue was Amelia herself. I seriously disliked her. First off we are made to think she is fairly meek, mousy and walked over. Then she becomes so head strong its like whiplash. I didn't like that she couldn't see anything and her opinion and thoughts were the only truths. She did absolutely nothing for me what so ever. I didn't even like how she was with the other girls, especially Anna. I got her feelings towards the guys, that made sense with the situation and what she thought, but towards the other girls? At around 70% I want to say I was left wondering why am I even bothering still. But I had committed that far to the book so carried on.

The last 30% or so does improve. When we have Amelia's realisation which was so obvious it was silly. But alas I suppose we were privy to more that she was. Eli obviously has his own demons as we can see and as a character I much preferred him although again, he wasn't a book boyfriend for me. In fact, I think Tobias would be more my taste. And what the hell is up with Soren? Is he a bear? Part animal? I feel we should have been told more about him.

I've read a lot of Clarissa's books in the past, some I've loved, some I liked but very few I didn't. This just didn't feel like her other books. The sex scenes were minimal. Seriously scaled back and I get that was probably for sexual tension, but I just didn't feel it. After the panties at the early stages of the book we are then left for a long time and I felt that it didn't help with the connection the reader is supposed to feel with Eli and Amelia. Maybe that's just me though?

I give Dark Wish 3 stars, not even a 3.5 for me. It's a kindle unlimited read so free if you subscribe. I have loaded up the second book which is also kindle unlimited, but namely as I have SO MANY questions still and I'm hoping for some answers. This book felt real disjointed at the beginning and started to flow a little better after, so I'm hoping the other book doesn't follow suit with a jittery beginning.

Amelia is craving something more. Is Eli the one to show her? This was a little dark but mostly suspenseful. Not as steamy as other books I've read from Ms. Wild, but it kept me hanging, wanting to find out more. The games Eli played were angsty and left me needing to know more! It ends on a cliffhanger, but I hope book 2 comes soon!

Wow! This Is An Intense Read. Eli & Amelia’s Dark Romance Starts Out With A Bang. It Is A Thriller Set In A Mysterious World Steeped In Some Extreme Religious Notions. The Truth Is Unclear As Good & Evil Are Painted In Shades Of Grey.

This is book one of a new dark romance series. It ends in a cliffhanger. Book two, Dark Lies, follows.

While this new series stands independently, fans of His Duet (Under His Rule and Beyond His Control) will be thrilled with this new story. That duet is Noah and Natalie’s story. In His Duet, Natalie befriends April while in the Family’s Holy Land. April had a very minor role. As the duet comes to a close, April remains missing without a trace. She shows up here in a minor role as well.

Amelia, twenty-three, loves books. She is intelligent and hard-working, yet has a big heart and innocent outlook on life. She dreams of bigger things while complacently accepting her status quo. She works part-time at the library – her dream job – but it doesn’t pay the bills. With the pressure of student loan payments, she must resort to a second job unless or until a full-time position at the library comes along. She might be shy, but she is determined to make her own way in life even if that means working as a cocktail waitress at a strip club. She can mostly handle herself on the job, though the customers at Joe’s Hotties sometimes do get a little handsy. She lives with her boyfriend Chris, whom she doesn’t get to see much of with all her evening shifts. He keeps busy with his own job too, and finding time for one another is a challenge. Amelia could have taken an easier route by accepting the inheritance left to her by her grandparents, but she is too principled to accept dirty money. When a strange man starts appearing in her life, the coincidences are suspicious and yet Amelia cannot shrug the magnetic pull she feels for the stranger. She dreams of being romanced in spite of her concerns..

Eli, about thirty, is following in his father’s footsteps. He grew up in a private and luxurious lifestyle where he had been homeschooled his entire life. His mother passed when he was a teen, leaving him conflicted. She had never really wanted him, but his father was always away for days at a time. The influential people that frequently visited their home made his father an eminently powerful man. The family business had been handed down for generations, and as a child Eli eagerly looked forward to stepping into his father’s shoes and learning about their mysterious business. It is divine work, so there is no shame in what they do. The House of Sin is a special place where sinners earn their freedom. The price of freedom is sometimes daunting, and some might consider the House a prison. Pain and punishment are part of the experience. In a carefully controlled environment, punishers work for the greater good by bending morals and ethics. They serve a special function in society. There are many rules to follow, which keep the punisher in line as he doles out humility, hoping to earn a confession. Lust is used as a tool – frequently – but the punisher can never be ruled by it without falling into sin himself. Walking the line is a difficult task, but it was what Eli was born for.

When a girl on the sidewalk makes Elie do a double take, the course of his future is altered. He is entranced by her beauty and innocence. Determined to have her for himself, he decides to make it happen. But business just isn’t done this way, and it requires bending some rules. Fortunately for him, everyone is a sinner. He will watch, judge, and punish Amelia. He isn’t supposed to intervene, but his sense of self-control around her is put to the test. When he asks what her darkest desire is, her answer takes him by surprise. His obsession with her will certainly break him – maybe even before he breaks her. Their story ends in a cliffhanger and continues in book two, Dark Lies.

Wow! This is an intense read. Eli and Amelia’s story has you on the edge of your seat throughout, trying to unwrap what exactly is taking place. Eli is all-powerful, full of rage and lust. He also has a tender side that occasionally peaks through, but he has a job to do. Amelia is fearful and often full of rage as her pride prevents the submission required to earn her freedom. She has no idea what is expected of her and why, aside from some general statements. Eli says she is a sinner, but she cannot confess to a crime she doesn’t know she committed. When she catches on that there are other guests in the House as well, her suspicions begin to grow. She thinks Eli and his staff are monsters, but he don’t see it that way.

Eli and Amelia’s dark romance starts out with bang. It is a thriller set in a mysterious world steeped in some extreme religious notions. The truth is unclear as good and evil are painted in shades of grey. The story is well-written. It is complex and plot-driven. The characters are fascinating and unique. Amelia is sometimes a contradiction, though. She doesn’t just sit back and accept her situation, yet in her real life she had done just that. Nevertheless, the storyline pulls you into the story. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Eli and Amelia. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well... maybe I should stop saying that I don't like Dark Romance, because.... I still end up reading them. Just like this. Dark Wish by Clarissa Wild is hot, dark and sexy. And a bit fckd up, but in a good way, if you know what I mean.

So Amelia has done something, she needs punishment for, but she doesn't know what she has done. She has do beg for it. And Eli is her punisher. So intense! Amelia is a woman with a powerful and strong mind. She doesn't surrender so easily. The characters play so good together. Like ice and fire.

As this is my first from Clarissa Wild, I can't say much about her writing style, just that in this book the writing was very good, Though the beginning went a bit fast. The events happend to fast, but as the story continues it got better and better.

I have to say that I had no idea, how the plot twist would turn out, and I was suprised with the ending. In a good way. I'm very looking forward to the second book, because this was not the last book I read from Clarissa Wild.

Amelia is a young woman with 2 jobs: one as a librarian and the other as a waitress in a bar where the men touch her ass every day. She lives with a boyfriend who mistreats and cheats on her.
Well, things get worse for her since she ends up kidnapped by a mysterious man who will not free her until she repents of her sins, especially the one of her birthday, only that she doesn’t remember it.
Eli, with Tobias and Soren, lead the House of Sin where people are sent to them to make them pay for their sins, freeing some of them from their guilt.
Amelia resists Eli as much as she can and tries to escape, but nothing succeeds, until she finally gives in and gives herself completely to him.
Finally the memories return ( the truth was quite clear about what she had done), but she also realizes that Eli may be more involved in what happened that day.
So, feeling betrayed, she prepares for her next escape and this time for good. But Eli is not willing to let her go just like that, even if that means to against the rules of the House. He no longer cares about risking it all as long as not to lose her since she has been the only one who has managed to reach his iced heart.

“Your darkest wish?””I want to be punished “.

“You took me,” I spit back. “And you said yes,” he retorts. “And from that kiss we just shared, I’d say that was what you truly wanted.”“Don’t flatter yourself. You’re not my first,” I retort. “No … but I will be your last,” he growls.

“Please.” The moment she uttered that word, she lost. Not just the game … but also her dignity. Her pride. Her wrath. All of it lost to me with a single word. And I can’t help but savor the taste of her fall. I told her I was going to be here, waiting for her to take the plunge. And now she finally begged. I’m not going to let this moment go to waste. “I’m here to save you,” he says. “Now let me fuck the sin out of you.”

“How did you know what to do?” I ask, frowning. His brows rise. “It isn’t sex. It’s what the brain does when it is in pleasure mode.” He taps his temple. “You shut off and allow yourself to leave all your presumptions, your self-consciousness, and your insecurities behind. And it allows me to apply certain … tricks to get you to see your own sin.”

What a tantalising tale of lust, desire and sin!!!!!!!!

Amelia has a crappy abusive boyfriend and one job she loves in a library and one she hates at a local joint called Joe's Hotties lol take from that what you will she knows she needs escape but doesn't know how or what to do!! When she meets a tall, dark and mysterious handsome stranger at the library this stranger sparks something in her and she can't get him out of her head!!! Or the fact that the guy in question seems to be always where she is. What is his motive? And why does he keep showing up everywhere she turns? Eli is the man in question and boy wow wee yep he's definitely something else!!!!!

One night changes everything!!!! And we're quickly thrown in at the deep end with Amelia!!!!! When Amelia is taken by Eli from the library she goes willing without a fight only then to be drugged and taken to a lavish place where sinners must repent and atone for their sins!! Where she's locked in a room with no access to the outside world. What is this place? And why did she confess to this stranger that she needed to be punished? What the hell happened that fateful night that even Amelia can't remember what happened cause she blocked it out? What sin did Amelia commit?

What happens that fateful night we don't get to know until the end of course and there are some twist and turns and of course a cliffhanger!!!! I can't wait to see what happens next!!! This is a dark captive romance that will leave you gagging for more. We do get some flashback scenes to show who they were when younger and I love that it's told in duel POV which is my favourite as I love to get in the heads of both main characters and get to know what they are both thinking at that same time!! I've read some Clarissa Wild books before and she just knows how to draw you in to the story!!!! I honestly don't have a bad word to say about this book!!!
