The ghost haunting Karlee Davis is tormented by amnesia. When Karlee finds work in a small coastal community setting up a weekly newspaper, the location jogs the ghost's memory and triggers violent visions from its past.
A severe storm brings Cole Maxwell, the commitment-challenged landlord living in the marina, off the water and inside. He and Karlee share their accommodation while repairs are completed on his boat. Cole's interest in Karlee makes him hyper-vigilant, and it doesn't take long before he discovers the ghost.
The more Karlee learns about the ghost's background, the less certain she is of her own. She'll have to trust her instincts to find everyone a peaceful ever after...if she can exorcise the dark creature manipulating them all.
Diane L. Kowalyshyn writes heart-hammering, high-voltage thrillers—adventures that run on action, intrigue and romance. Before its publication, her first novel, CROSSOVER, earned a Master of Fine Arts degree. She’s an avid sailor who has survived her fair share of squalls, and relied on the pulse of a lighthouse beacon to find safe harbor. When she’s not on the water or writing, she's exploring exciting new locales. Her books are available worldwide in trade paperback and ebook. Visit her at http://www.dianelkowalyshyn.com.
A quick read by a talented debut author. A unique plot with twists and turns I didn't see coming with an unexpected ending. Great seaside setting for supernatural elements and the struggle between good versus evil. Looking forward to the sequels!
This is a fascinating story about love, betrayal and the afterlife. It's full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Karlee has to give up her dream of working for the Boston library after the car accident that killed her parents, but finds a job at a bookstore. She's had a ghost as her constant companion for as long as she can remember. Sara has no memory of how she died, until she and Karlee are moving for the summer after Karlee loses her job. One of the reasons she lost her job was due to the fiasco that happened on the night a popular author had a book signing event at the store. Max Cole was taken with Karlee the minute he saw her and wanted to ask her out, but she disappeared before he got the chance. But fortune is smiling on him when he discovers that she is the person he is subletting his condo to. When they finally get a chance to get together, Cole joins her research on her ghost, which he doesn't know about. It's a very interesting and entertaining story that I really enjoyed reading. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Amazing story that was hard to put down. Lots of twists I didn’t expect. Well written and the details kept me so involved and glued to the storey. I can’t wait to read more books by this author. I went back and read it a second time I enjoyed it so much.
From the get-go, CROSSOVER gets the heart hammering. Vivid language and a unique ghost mystery keep you turning the pages. Eagerly awaiting books two and three!
This isn't my first book by author Diane Kowalyshyn but it definitely is my favourite so far. Crossover is the first book in the Cross Your Heart and Die trilogy, and I look forward to reading the next one. A novel take on the ghost story, Karlee has a spirit friend she calls Shade, who has been with her since birth. When Karlee's parents are killed in a car accident, and Karlee is severely injured, her life takes a new trajectory and she meets sexy author Max Cole at a book signing. From that point her life becomes entangled with the man behind 'Max Cole', and with finding out the secrets behind why Shade is with her.
Lots of twists and turns, interesting and well drawn characters, and a satisfying ending. Enjoyed it very much.
This book was amazing. Had me hooked right from the begin!! It is a live story in so many ways yet a mystery that needed to be solved. A few twists and turns that was unexpected as well! Very very well written can’t wait to read more of her books!!
It’s a story about closure, closure for the dead and closure for the living. Karlee and Cole are a hot couple together, but both are damaged. The ghost following Karlee might be ruining her groove… or is she helping her? Cole and Karlees’ chemistry is undeniable but things aren’t always as easy as they seem. Trying to make things work, wondering if someone is crazy or not, it’s hard when it comes to family. Family is at the root of everything. Awesome read!
This is by a local author and I purchased this book as the Stratford, Ontario Book Fair and Market. I started it right away and was immediately pulled into the story. There were a few places I popped out of the story line, but for the most part, the story held me captive and I was pleased with the outcome.
New to me author Ms. Kowalyshyn pens a story of love, betrayal, and murder. The main character, Karlee, knows she is different. She knows this because she recalls her parents arguing about her "special friend". Karlee names her imaginary friend, Shade. Together, Shade and Karlee have gone through good and bad times. Currently, she is going through some rough times, orphaned and looking for a job, Karlee is questioning what to do with her life.

Crossover is the first book in the Cross your Heart and Die series and is a great start to the series.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters of Karlee and Cole are likable and realistic. The storyline is engaging and has paranormal elements, suspense, and romance. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
